I suppose that’s true. My only experience with D/D ele’s is in pvp and they certainly aren’t squishy there. But PvE mobs, dungeons specifically are another matter entirely.

Elementalist are only A+A if the player is skilled. At which point the enginner actually also ends up as A+A. Guardian is spot on, even a mediocre player can do great with them and not be one trick ponies. They also have a wide vareity of traits that fits whatever playstyle you want.

Mesmer is another class that should be A+A honestly. Even when specced for all out damage they still have great staying power, debuffs and control. It’s also a class that takes semi skill to play well.

Ranger and Necro in B? But warrior in A? Personally I think they all fit in A, but its all a player to player thing. I’ve had the easiest kitten runs in game with 4 rangers and my engi. Necro damage and debuffs in PvE is just top notch, except vs structures, which luckily doesnt matter. Downside is, more than 1 necro is a waste, since they can keep more than 50% of the stack limit up on bleeds solo.

If I were to play an elementalist for instance, it would not be a S-class, it would more likely be a C-class.

When I played with my friend the other day on our engi’s we got a fractal group together. First thing the warrior in our group mentions was “Wow… 2 engineers, never seen that before”. Still, no one in the group had to bother with rezzing us, but on the otherhand, the warrior died several times due to being stubborn and face tanking things he couldnt.

In the end it all comes down to tweaking your spec, knowing your class and picking the right gear to function at optimal preformance. I recently ditched a bunch of berserk gear on my engi to pick up P/V/T gear, losing a whole 13% crit damage 5% crit chance while gaining alot of health and toughness. Damage is close to the same and the burst is still there when needed, which is only in WvW vs solo glasscannons. They still die just as fast, no need to overkill when you can kill them with the same round of burst. In dungeons survivability means better staying power, better staying power means more sustained damage. Losing a little dps isnt the whole work when you are assure to not go down at all. Maximum dps does nothing when you are dead or downed.

I’ve tweaked most of my classes into a more survival oriented spec, without giving up much damage.

All classes can be A+A in the hands of the right person.

Just a note: The warrior might not be dying a lot simply because of face tanking. Another issue that I see quite a lot is when there is an abundance of ranged/squishies the plate classes get focused a WHOLE lot harder since mobs look at toughness as one of the agro factors.

Not saying that is definitely the case, but with 2 engineers in the group already, chances are good he was high on the list of agro targets.

Especially the grawl boss. Man does he love me when the rest of my group is cloth/leather…

I run with a mix of Valkyrie, Knight, and Soldier gear.

25% Crit Chance (I buffer this with Master Oil to 33%)
2883 Defense

As for build, I run a shout build (Hence the soldier runes.) and switch to walls when needed. That’s about it for Guardians. At least for my playstyle.

I.e.: There are simply too many variables for you to “tier” classes like such.

There’s also the variable of “Terrible player” problem.

Rangers sorry to say suffer massively from this variable. The class mechanics when played solo promote terrible group play. Especially in Fractals. I ALWAYS cringe when a ranger joins.

Things like autotargeting with their large range pulling extra enemies. Standing at the WAAAAAAY back of the group in situations like ascalon where they have all the npc with them and when you try to bring the enemies to the npc mob, the ranger uses the jump back skill and dodges backwards because they want max range thus keeping the npc mob out of the fight entirely…

Necromancers suffer in dungeons due to the boss mechanic of reduced condition durations. When that’s their main source of damage, it can be an amplified problem. Especially for DPS required fights such as Simin.

Sadly the opposite is also a problem. A terrible guardian for example simply because of the group support dynamic of the class can be a better choice than even a decent ranger. Even a terrible guardian can provide group virtue bonuses, condition removal with shouts, reflection of projectiles and so on. Which is one of the reasons that many groups seek out guardians so heavily but you will never see “Group looking for Ranger!”

So yeah, a tier list is skewed.

My personal list for kittens and giggles: (Note, Heavily biased and partially filled with sarcasm.)

PvE (Dungeons. Nothing else really matters as it’s all soloable or zerged.)

Guardian (Mostly due to fractals and the insane benefit of guardian abilities there.)
Warrior (DPS is always good, and high health pool makes them a much better option than glass thieves.)
Mesmer (Portals and Time Warp? Yes please.)
Elementalist (Great damage. Why aren’t there any bunker D/D eles doing fractals?!? Would be higher if the bunkers played PvE.)
Thief (Walls, stealth all good stuff. When they don’t die when looked at sideways.)
Engineer (They are more useful than they appear, but such a stigmata of low DPS.)
Necromancer (While at the low end due to boss mechanics, they are still better than a Ranger.)
Mini Rytlock (Because anything is better than a Ranger for me. Too many bad Rangers. Too many…)
Pet Rock (Because yeah. I really don’t enjoy Rangers…)
Ranger (Because of Search and Rescue for the glass cannon thieves.)

I don’t see a FAIL, the Hall of Monuments is located within the Eye of the North expansion. If you can’t access HoM in Guild Wars then it makes sense that you can’t access HoM in Guild Wars 2.

I play a guardian and was invited to a group the other night. A Ranger was invited after me. The leader put up a kick request. I asked why. When no response was given, I dropped from the group with a “Good luck” to them. I won’t group with people like that.

considering fractal GS is about 50x rarer than a legendary atm, im not really inclined to work towards mine.

You might want to try moving up in difficulty. Don’t do 30. Do 38. I seem to have the best luck with the highest fractal possible in the daily tier.

Sometimes you have to wait because all the sheeple do the bare minimum, but it’s worked for me.

5 seconds of poison is 50% uptime on poison. 100% if you have it on two sets and switch constantly.

Great for 1v1 as poison reduces healing.

Just plain dumb luck. I recently had an 8 day streak of getting nothing and then BAM Greatsword and Sword in the same day.

Not everyone can click a person and send report when the person is teleing everywhere. I would report someone on my server if I saw that. But we cannot see DB players’ names to report specific players. It should be both servers’ responsibility to report these players.

If there are DB players that hack in front of me. You bet your kitten I report them. However out of every single post on this thread about hackers even some with video evidence, there isn’t a single DB player other than said hacker(s) in sight.

Even if another DB is in the area. Chances are unless it’s obvious hacking like flying or other such issues, the other DB player is going to be focused on the red Maguuma Invader more than they are going to notice some random named player from perhaps a random guild that is an ally. Especially if there’s combat involved.

I know that when I see an ally under attack by red names. The last thing I do is check the name/guild of my ally. I target the red name and charge to defend the ally.

So really it falls to you, the people who run into these hackers to make the reports.

Just stop calling out our server because you sure as heck are not innocent of the phenomenon.

Does anybody know what the counter is to a DB ele that can get into a tower without any walls or doors down, which is invulnerable for 20 seconds in the downed state, which is invulnerable to corrupt boon, and which is invulnerable for many seconds in the up state? I had no clue how op eles actually were. 20 seconds of invulnerability in the downed state and immune to stomps!?!? Someone please show me this ele build so we can field some for Fort Aspenwood. I feel we are at a disadvantage because none of our eles are running this spec.

The chests mean nothing about the value of the item dropped. Nothing whatsoever. It’s just something that happens to some of the loot. It gets a neat little package that is easier to miss entirely instead of a corpse.

I’ll never understand the point of these threads, it’s an even playing ground for everyone, spiky fruit and the other consumables are available for use by everyone. I think it keeps things interesting, and most people I’ve killed with consumables actually find it funny and PM me.

You can get groups if you suck. Just don’t join the speedrun/warriordpsonly type groups.

The whole reason they brought Ascended in in the fist place was because of ‘progression’. Automatically upgrading the fancy Exotics defeats the entire purpose of introducing Ascended in the first place.

So first off, for those who don’t know what it is.

“Inspecting gear” is a feature where you can check anyones gears in a UI. By right clicking or something else.

My view on this:

It would make it easier to check out someones gear if you’re curious. You wouldn’t have to link every piece.

But then again, It would also increase the level of “gear checking” for dungeons, etc. At that would pollute the community. “You must have x gear to enter this group”. Just like the “You have to be warrior to join this group”, only worse.

It would also make it easier to bash somone because of their gear.

These are the only things i can think about when it comes to this topic.

So, i ask you.

Should it be implented? Or not? Give us your opinion!

This will lead to this sort of situation:

Person A: Uh hum, I see you’re not wearing a berserker exotic gear instead you’re wearing a knights exotics gear. In my opinion this is not good enough and you will be letting the team down.
Person B: I’m wearing knights gear because it synergises well with my traits, I actually will be doing the same/similar if not more damage in the big picture wearing these gear.

Person A: No you are wrong, I am party leader so i’m always correct. Berserker GOD rwar rawr awr. RESPECT MAA AUTHORITYYY

Also, lack of gear inspection also promotes privacy and basic social skills. e.g. if I or someone likes me armor, I would pm them (they pm me) and ask what i’m wearing. I would then kindly link them this armor and we would have a small chat and thank each other and be on our way. Whereas inspect gear would just be, right click, oh thats the armor and it would feel like you kitten them without them even knowing :o

And at this point you say. Fine. And leave and get a group that you do fit in.

Why are you trying to force your gear on people who obviously do not want you in it? Just leave, get a new group. Move on with life.

Ele using perma stuns with some kind of item, this chase lasted for a kitten long while.

Yeah, that guy’s a guildie. Pretty sure he isn’t a hacker, he just lives for fighting solo against multiple people in WvW. He has a few youtube vids

I was there as well. There was absolutely hacking going on. Two elementalists getting back into the same tower and bailing – twice while I was there, and at least another two times while guildies were watching after I left. There were no portals, and we had full presence the whole time.

It was ridiculous.

For crying out loud. This is Tier 3. Everyone knows there’s hackers. Vid them, report them, and SHUT UP ON THE FORUMS.

The lfg in this game is inferior in each and every way. Even GW1 had a better system. The person who created that should be slapped with a wet noodle.
