You start the game with some money and in order to die for the first dozen levels you have to really try. Waypoint costs at that level are like 4 copper. So unless you are doing something silly like trying to get a level 1 character to the end of Orr….you will be perfectly fine.

Being afk doesn’t make you unattended gameplay. Automated gameplay is the problem. If you are standing in one spot and have a dipping bird pressing your 1 key….that’s a problem.

The drop rate has not been steadily nerfed since launch.

What has happened recently is demand is up.

Increase in availability of precursors from the karka event means that those people now need ecto for their legendaries and spent the money they were saving for the precursor on the ecto. Additionally with the mystic forge back slot ascended items people are burning through ecto there as well.

Your perception is the issue.

In all actuality. Selling your ecto for profit while the price is high, and waiting for it to drop when the demand stabilizes would be the best bet if you were a market betting man.

Playing the game is more fun with friends.

Burning isn’t a condition that draws out removal. It is however pressure. Adding damage to what is already occuring.

People save removal for things that really hurt. Like max stacked bleed or immobilize/confusion.

I’ve seen trebs despawn after 30 mins, but everything I’ve placed down since 3 weeks ago that isn’t a treb stays all night without anyone using it. So either it’s a bug that it’s despawning or its a bug that it’s staying up.

You can upgrade to the digital deluxe in game as well. You can buy it for 2000 gems. Which is like $35 or something or you can farm it up with gold.

The “Free upgrade” is when you buy a new account.

Normally the prices are Basic: $59, Deluxe: $79.
Now the prices are Basic:$59, Deluxe: $59. So the upgrade is free.

Perhaps it’s a culture issue. In the US that form of advertisement. (Called an upsell or incentive).

It’s most frequently identifiable for cell phone companies and the like. They offer “FREE PHONE!” for people who buy a new contract.

So in this instance the contract is the account, and the phone is the “Free upgrade from basic to deluxe.”

Also might want to put a suggestion in the suggestion section that guild bank withdrawals should have account name instead of character. That information is available on anyone in the guild anyway. This way when something like this occurs there is an actual log. Which is what that thing is SUPPOSED to be for.

If you want siege to be available forever, you must go around the map and “Use” the siege before the 30 minute despawn timer is up. Anyone using a piece of siege resets the 30 minute timer.

I can see the problem….the page shows that the “upgrade” is “free” but is of course, misleading. It has a price tag. But the description mentions getting items “for free” by upgrading. If this is a mix-up, I hope Anet notices and gets that fixed.

It shows the upgrade is free if you spend $59.99 (Or your countries equivalent.)

It’s “Free with purchase” much like a Taco Bell coupon for a free Taco with the purchase of a large drink.

The basic account and digital deluxe are the same price. The upgrade is free.

If you want the “Free upgrade” you must purchase the basic account. Thus $59.99 or your currencies equivalent.

It’s free upgrade with purchase of a new account. Much like “Get a free android phone with new contract.”

If you will notice, the basic account is $59.99 (Or your currencies equivalent.) the deluxe is also $59.99. Which is a free upgrade.

Put another way If the game was being given away free this weekend there would be an absolute outrage from thousands of customers, so those saying this happens all the time as a promotion really need to think outside the box and as another person pointed out they clearly state “free upgrade” soooo……….

But it’s not free so we can ignore this post entirely as it’s just plain over exaggerating an extremely common business phenomena that you deal with on a daily basis.

Did you pay the same for gas today as you did last week/month?

And for the “Free upgrade”. It clearly states with purchase of a new game.

FEEL FREE to buy a second GW2 account and obtain a free upgrade with that account. No one is stopping you. In fact they are encouraging you to do so.

Offering incentives to people who do not already have a product after the products first release in order to obtain more customers is common practice.

Your grocery store does it. Ever buy something at the store and find out that it went on sale the next day? How about when you moved into your home/apartment. Price different now? New move in deals that you didn’t get? Cable company offering $20 internet while you are paying $50? Phone company offering discounts on phone purchases with new contracts?

It happens all the time. Everywhere.

THAT has nothing at all whatsoever to do with the gear. THAT is something entirely different. THAT is why people want an LFG that is worldwide. Nothing at all to do with gear.

You thought the cost of precursors were so out of whack that you had to borrow money and other silly things to secure yourself one that you really didn’t even want.

So now that they fixed it to a temporary influx of them (They are still stupid expensive.) you are upset at that turn of events?

That’s pretty darn selfish don’t you think? You should be happy. Now you can get a second one. The one you REALLY want.

They still need a fix. It’s still stupidly expensive and not because of any reason other than a bottleneck controlled by a select few of people or a stingy as heck RNG gamble.

I’m new to the guild wars world and I’ve enjoyed playing with my Asura engineer over the last couple of days. However I am seeing quite a bit of negative feedback towards the game on the forum.

In all honesty, is this a game worth sticking with or is it one already in a state of decline?

Forums are the last place you should get an opinion on a game from. I have never gone to a games forum where there wasn’t kittening about something or other.

If you are enjoying yourself, why would you care what anyone on the forums say? Enjoy the game.

I have 4. Currently at level 7. Totally of about 350 relics. Did not get any from a chest as far as I recall, but I know I got one from a mob drop as the pink color caught my attention.

I’ve never seen such. However I have seen people buy extras accidentally. Many times because they thought they needed a book in order to respec.

Really no idea why there would be so many for sale, but I can certainly see why they would be cheaper than vendor in that case.

Since many of them are commanders. I question: Do they use a mumble or anything like that account? Something that requires passwords that perhaps they use the same password for mumble as they do in game?

Seems like a logical point of attack if you want to get people who have proven that they already had 100g of expendable cash before…

Not going to happen.

You’d be surprised. People wearing MF gear dying all over the place while blaming the rest of the party for their failure. During one run I had a guy take off all of his armor while fighting the last boss in the norn snow zone, the one with frostbite debuff (forgot the name). I’ve had people randomly leave.

MF gear doesn’t cause people to die more. Lack of skill does. Frostbite for example is just player stupidity. Standing in the torch attack for long enough to get 8 stacks of frostbite and turned to ice? That’s just lack of skill. Random leaving/disconnecting is really annoying but moreso is that they cannot rejoin. Hard to tell those who disconnect and those who up and leave unless they are whining the whole time or complaining that “THE SWAMP IS TOO HARD!”

I say we do a counter push. Everyone rush to Amazon and put in 5 star ratings! GO GO GO!

Culture weapons are bought with Karma. Legendaries utilize massive amounts of Karma. Crafting recipes on your craft master trainer. Chef materials. Tons of useless junk.

But mostly for legendary item supplies.

That sounds about right for the forum moderators.

Just ignore your infraction entirely. They make no sense and unless you get a bunch more, or for more serious violations……just realize that the moderators on this forum are on LSD and make no sense whatsoever.

I’ve had groups with rogues that had no ranged weapons, an elementalist with no underwater weapon whatsoever. I have had groups where people would leave the group immediately if we get swamp/dredge/ascalon as #2/3.

Pugs are whole new levels of fail at times.

When you get that one group though, the ones where people don’t stand in the fire…smoothness. It’s glorious.

The infraction you received stated that you needed to email forums@arena.net to appeal it. Right in the infraction PM.

Putting in a support ticket only took away the support from the people who need it for the game.

BTW, it will take forever for any sort of response from that black hole of an email address and any response you do get will make even less sense than the infraction you received in the first place.

Best practice is to 100% ignore them. Nothing makes any rhyme or reason.

Try to enter the portal. It will tell you what level is maximum based on your group…

It mentions who the limiting factor is. For example if everyone is 5 and you add a last member and it only lets you get to level 2, it will say XYZ is the reason for the reduced maximum.

A group of just yourself is a good indicator of where you stand.

You could be naked and still get past the threshold.

I play both PvE and WvWvW. I have had a lot of time on my hands. That will be less so very shortly, but till now that is the case.

However, your description is off base by a wide margin.

I have 718 hours 32 minutes over the past 2 months and 832 hours 0 minutes over all my characters.

I love the new fractals dungeon. That much is true. However it’s not for the gear and stats. If I were worried about that, I wouldn’t be running the fractals and WvWvW in Explorer’s Draconic armor.

I love it for it’s impression it has given me. I love it for it’s variety, enjoyability, difficulty at times, and even it’s humor.(Robot Cats that go “MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW”, I can’t do that one without cracking a smile. And who doesn’t feel proud when the Colossus bows to you?)

I am only level 5 currently, but my 230 relics should tell you how many times I have gone with lower level groups just because I want to go and there is none at my current level available. I have yet to get a single piece of gear out of there that would replace what I have now other than a wayfarer’s backguard that replaced the one I got for completing my personal storyline.

I perform in PvE and WvWvW quite fine. Even in gear that many people consider very sub-optimal. However I have been invited to a couple guilds since they enjoyed playing fractals with me. I have been invited to a WvWvW guild because they had a good time flipping camps with me.

For someone with 800 hours under his belt. You would probably expect that I would at least have SOMETHING impressive to show for it. The only item I have that is rare is “The Punisher” that I just obtained from the Ancient Karka event. I don’t even use my hammer. I prefer the Greatsword/Scepter/Focus weapons.

Eventually however I plan to achieve my goals. All of them. That includes owning an Eternity. Which it might very well take me to actually achieve. I’m quite alright with that.

I have 29 gold saved up currently on my path to obtaining a “Dawn”. 10% of the way! Today I looked at the recipes for the mystic forge options of ascended gear. I have 10% of the T6 materials. I will have to farm those up if I decide to go that route. Haven’t decided yet.

I still don’t see why people are complaining.
