I am bringing up this discussion mostly because I currently already have 6000 blade shards and look forward to 2 more weeks of increasing that amount.

When is account/soulbound simply used too much?

I can understand using binding for items that are to be limited to personal achievements such as ascended trinkets. I can understand using binding for items like ascended gear. I would understand binding for legendaries (Really? This is the one that doesn’t use the mechanic?). I can even understand “Special loot” from events being bound.

What I can’t understand is making items like blade shards bound. They are an item that drop by the thousands and have a singular purpose. After a certain amount (Different for each person based on how many back pieces one wants to create) they have absolutely no use. Why can’t we just put our extra shards on the trading post, or even give them a “trash loot” value so they can be sold to a vendor?

I think that items being account/soulbound is a mechanic that should be used sparingly and is being used far too often.

Thoughts?

Those notes are to encourage people to do the “Six minutes till knightfall” achievement. You cannot get it done zerging as scale kills any chance of that.

I just wanted to add that this definitely feels like the issue that was fixed a few months back where certain accounts (Unlucky as they were) simply could not get world boss loot. No matter how much damage and tagging they did.

A friend of mine experienced this issue till they fixed it. It certainly has the hallmarks of that issue having returned.

It definitely seems like the bug that they had since release that certain people simply could not get the rewards. It took a long time to get fixed. It certainly has the hallmark of the issue.

Random accounts simply not getting loot from world bosses.

I have not had any trouble at all. Even before the patches. I got the loot from every knight for hours on end. (Ended the night with over 100 boxes.)

I am a level 80 fully geared guardian. I fight in melee range with a Greatsword/Scepter/Focus. I get a full group. I don’t die. (Most of the time.)

I also don’t bother to avoid the jump attack as I just use stunbreaks after it. So my DPS stays constant.

I don’t know why others are having issues. I will simply be glad that I am not. I wonder if it’s because other classes rely on conditions where the guardian only has burning and their damage is simply being reflected causing their damage to be a lot less than they expect.

I suggested playing with eyes (or one eye) closed: it was a real suggestion. One I hate to suggest, but one that has served me well.

I wish Anet would do something about flashing lights, I’ve been mentioning some issues since beta but they don’t change them. Things such as an enemy flashing each time you hit them, or skill effects that take the whole screen.
It was also an issue in Gw1 (for me). In Gw1 I really wanted to play PvP, but since I had to play with my eyes (or one eye) closed, I didn’t want my team to lose because of me. So it was 3 or 4 years before I started playing PvP!

Well, when I say eyes closed, what I really do is turn my head to the left until I don’t see the screen anymore. Yeah, my neck hurts sometimes!

I really do wish Anet would be more careful with flashing lights, but until they do, all we can do is offer suggestions on how to deal.

For me, the one eye thing requires a full cover of one eye (usually my hand, which isn’t so great for gaming). An uncovered closed eye does nothing (because the eye lid does not create total blackness. Turning away doesn’t really do it either – I’d literally have to hide in full pitch darkness to counter it.

But it has been known to work for others and it’s certainly advice I’ve received from doctors before, even if for me it’s not necessarily enough. We know what works for us as individuals, though, right? No harm in mentioning it at all.

An eye patch achieves the same level of darkness and is actually pretty darn cheap.

Easiest fix.

LET US TURN OFF ALL THE PARTICLE EFFECTS.

I have gotten rewards from the knights for every single fight.

Get a group, get off your low levels and tag like you mean it.

You waited till the very last day before the next patch. That’s entirely on you. You had two weeks where even if you didn’t know about the dailies, you would have stumbled on them by simply doing the even. Especially since you did enough to get to 11/15.

You had 2 weeks to accidentally get an event daily completed. The procrastination is entirely on you.

I was having massive lag all through the first event. Reminding me of Southsun release…

Tells us the lair will remain. Chests get removed. Tells us they will come back with a patch and to wait for the notes. Patch fixes it, not in the notes.

Hey, i wanted to do the living story achievements for escape from LA. I opened up my achievements panel, clicked “watch” on all of the achievements under the tab “living story.” I completed them all only to find that i was still at 14/15. What more do you want from me!?

And how did you possibly not accidentally achieve one of the dailies? Encourage 5 citizens. Kill 10 molten. Kill 10 Aetherblade. Kill 10 Toxic. Scavange 5 rubble…..

Besides that, when you saw the 14/15, what ran through your head at that time?

Great, so, because I missed a random Reddit post, I now for the first time miss out on the meta achievement for an event. The problem here is that this schedule was different than most of the other schedules (4 weeks / 2 weeks) that they’ve had going for a long time, and ANET never officially said anything about it. Why? Why is it necessary to not be transparent about this stuff? We all have real lives and can’t always devote our time to this game. I was just going to gain the rest of the achievements after most of the people had figured out what to do, so that it was more efficient, and still thought this would be a 4-week cycle and didn’t see anything online to refute it, so I logged in on Saturday and started. I didn’t get the daily that day, and if I had, I would have the meta. So thanks, ANET.

You don’t need dulfy to figure this one out. It’s remedial.

Better safe than sorry. Spend them before the patch or you will keep them next to your spare Tri-Keys.

There was also two weeks to get the single daily done. Plenty of time.

Every time there is a citizen reward chest (100, 300, 600, 900, 1200) I get a huge lagspike. On an internet connection that is barely able to keep up with normal gameplay it chokes. If I happen to be in combat when this occurs, I am probably either dead or worse getting disconnected as I get overloaded on my bandwidth.

It’s the only thing that does this, and I can’t see why. Monthly/daily reward chests do not do this. Only the LA event rewards.

For whatever good this does me.

Wait till you see the information that they returned the chests in the patch notes. Possibly this tuesday.

Leechers are a community problem, the zerger mentality is a problem that comes from all the previous content, so it’s a.nets “fault”. A.Net can fix that zerger mentality without our help, we can’t fix the leecher problem without A.Nets help.

Anet can change the afk timer in the LA event to 5 minutes like it is in wvwvw. They have the tools to fix the issue. They haven’t done so.

Gotta learn to pop those dodge rolls just after the next wave spawns.

In a perfect world, they would have figured out how to have loot go directly to inventory. They tried, the bags at your feet was a compromise due to them being unable to get it right a long time ago.

The reward system is not broken. They intend everyone in the zone to get the reward. They however didn’t think that people would be doing a perfectly acceptable action of sitting there afk while not participating.

They do have the tools to fix the issue. They can change the afk timer to 5 minutes or whatever they want to use.

Being afk is not an exploit or the ENTIRE POPULATION should be banned because every last person has been afk at one point or another.

More specific. Once per daily reset. You can tell the next reset by going to “H” screen and then to achievements click on daily and look at the purple bar. It will have a timer.

It says news right in the post where they told everyone.

They did nothing that violates the ToS. They went AFK. Something that is permitted in every location at any time.

Its the internet. Just take your chances. If you get trolled and flamed, so what? Do you suddenly lose $100 of your personal value?

Just do it. Nike style, and after you’ve done it you can be on the other side trolling and flaming (or not its up to you) others who’re in your current predicament.

My objective, in this case, was to gain practical information/answers. Why ask a question when the odds of getting trolled/flamed far exceed the odds of not? I just looked the info up, problem solved. The journey continues. ^.^

i suggest scarlet snipes the afkers with a 1 shot kill from up there and debuffs them from getting rezzed and cant use any WP for 30 minutes. and all the rewards the people get on the map wont go to the debuffed players

Or maybe you can just live with the fact that there is already something in place to take care of the afkers. They are booted from the game after a certain predetermined amount of time.

Anet already has the ability to change the time in which that kick takes place. If they felt that it needed to be shorter they can change it.

There is a timer for if you are afk too long it will boot you from the game. They are not getting booted from the game.

This is really not an argument. Spotting the AFKers is a simple as using the WPs and looking at the screen while you run by, and the people making the complaints are (hopefully) not doing the LA event while they’re here making the post. They see the AFKers while running around and then come on here later to post.

Imagine if you were at lunch with someone and they made a complaint about something they saw on the side of the road on their way over, and you said “the more time you spend looking and complaining about it the less time you are driving to lunch.” Same argument, same amount of sense (none.)

Also, the previous thread on this topic was closed by the mods, hence no thread to bump. In fact the dev post basically said “please create a new thread on this topic if you want to discuss it” so here we are.

From regular bags…. I knew that, but 1 Dragonite Ore every 50 bags isn’t gonna get me to 500 Dragonite Ore anytime soon. I really wish that ANet would get the reward priorities set straight, I mean, give us 20 heirlooms for getting 1,200 citizens, then people would ALWAYS get 1,200 citizens, but no, lets just have them spread across the city and let people NOT contribute at all to the point of the event (saving citizens) and just let them farm this stuff………….

Stop exaggerating your woe. You get about 5-10 per 50 bags. I get quite a bit every single run through. Just tag better. get 200 bags and you get about 25 dragonite ore per hour. That’s as good as doing Jormag.

You get dragonite ore in the regular bags. Farm with the zerg.

If your goal is to obtain agro, the easiest method is to have a large armor rating.

At 3500 armor I have no problem gaining the attention of nearly every enemy.

The spirit weapons were one of the things that drew me to the class to begin with. Of course in beta, didn’t really know how bad they actually were.

Thankfully I also enjoy support and the shout build works for me too.

I would use them if they did enough damage/utility to justify such a long cooldown, they were more durable for such a long cooldown, they didn’t take quite so much dedication in the trait lines to get full potency.

I agree with Ameepa.

Unfortunate side effect of the game. Upon release, people try for the achievements. After that, no one cares anymore. Then people stop participating and all you are left with are the bad players.

Best you can hope for is to get a group of 30 people and do them all yourself. God help you if there is a zerg as they will destroy any chance of completing the molten miasma.

Event scaling really needs to be looked at again…

Assume that you have till next patch. Use up everything before then or you will just keep your heirlooms next to your tri-color keys.

Better yet.

Go as a guardian with 3500 armor. Hit the protector, and then move it where you want it to be because it will ignore everyone else.

It was stated that they would return the chests to scarlet’s lair. When is that going to happen? I have a key that I would like to use and about 5 inventory slots I’d like to clear of useless temporary content.
