Anet was already told that tying personal reward to other people’s failure without the ability to overcome their failures makes us mad.

Well be happy! You can do MORE than your share of the event to get every single achievement and reward. You aren’t stuck in a platform forced to watch the other people fail. You can finish your duty and go on to do more. You can make up for someone else’s failure.

Any other time and place people are permitted to do whatever they want. They can run something other than zerker gear. They can play as rangers. They can sit afk. They can run terrible builds.

Why is this any different?

The only thing I can think of is that people are upset to see others getting rewarded for non-participation. The same rewards that those who put forth the effort receive.

This is the only event that has been added in which that is possible (As far as I am aware anyway). It’s a colossal failure on Anet’s part to have not tied the rewards to personal contribution.

Punishing people for something that they are permitted to do anywhere and any other time that they want simply in this instance because of one completely stupid mechanic is just wrong. There is no defense of it.

I have NEVER been a fan of temporary content. Unless it’s content that reoccurs.

You can have the exclusivity for a year. Next year there better be a way to obtain the item again. That’s my opinion on that sort of thing anyway.

Sigh. Anet is doing no such thing. They are banning accounts using macros (almost always “illegal” in game) to circumvent the AFK disconnect time (60 mins). Furthermore, do you really think devs don’t check logs before enacting a ban? Why would you assume such a thing? I’ve reported tons of bots and have never seen them immediately disconnected, to borrow a smart example from earlier up-thread.

It isn’t just this thread. There is a post on reddit for example that specifically mentiones a dev that is actively banning players for being afk. There are a few more in the account issues section, and other posts in the general forum itself.

It may be true that all of these people are being legitimately banned, but the reddit post is the one with the most information leaving me to believe that it may actually be happening. Mostly because it has specific details.

Since I have been having extreme difficulty staying connected during the event, I have started to go into the lake. Where there is little traffic to “afk”. Mostly I fight my internet connection in the hopes that I can actually get enough found relics for the items. I do not succeed all the time and frequently get disconnected over and over again.

I’ve had people show up and immediately drag enemies to me. Which I then fight immediately. Half the time I disconnect when that starts up.

I am at my keyboard. I am “playing” the game. I am simply not contributing to the event itself as I cannot do so currently and it’s not your right to deny me access to the game.

If I could get enough relics SIMPLY by doing the daily rubble, then I wouldn’t even bother, but that’s not the case.

I have so far not gotten a “Full run” and not even close. Mostly because I cannot stay connected to a server and get dumped into an overflow with only 300 or so at the 45 minute mark.

So I personally dislike that Anet seems to be banning people for being afk, especially without even testing if they are indeed afk or not. If my account gets banned for my activity, I will most certainly raise one hell of a fuss.

Can’t help but face palm when I read the posts mentioning JP farming with level 22 alts.

GW2 logic: to get an end game item, one must first ignore all sources of level progression and farm low level content.

^ Ridiculous.

You can get them on a level 80 as long as you use the dredge I mentioned. The jumping puzzle rewards are tied to the character level though. Which is why they need to be 22ish to get them there.

I could have sworn I responded to a thread exactly like this just recently.

Mostly because they mentioned skritt bags.

Perhaps try your luck with dredge bags in Lornars. While I was waiting for Marionette, I would farm them and get a doubloon every 30-80 bags.

I also have my alts sitting at the pirate puzzle to log in and loot.

There’s no magic bullet to obtaining them. They are simply pretty rare. Frustrating if you need a stack of them to be sure.

Not conclusive or anything, but it’s a place to try to see if it’s better (Since they mentioned skritt bags.)

Dragonbrand now Deadbrand?

Kumu Honua.2751

I know marionette is old now but even in the first week it always fail in DB.

Not at all, DB was in the top few to defeat the marionette. Maybe not 1st, 2nd or even 3rd but we were definitely up there. I was there for our first win followed by the 3 immediately after. Of course it was not during NA time and you are right NA time failed quite a bit.

We continued to win during the later hours for another week. After the 2nd week it all but dried up as people moved to doing Edge/Whatever else.

I also know the coverage is low but it seems worse than ever now. Couple months back around season1, I still saw commander on TS trying to be as organize as possible. Now it’s all random.

There really isn’t any need for massive coordination on WvWvW either, and our TS has always been extremely spotty at best to get people to actually use it. For a few months now it’s been mostly a Karma Train during SEA times and a struggle to hold a 100 ppt during NA time. Nothing has changed really. The static matchups can be thanked for that mess.

No racist meant but my Taiwan guildies (from both pve & wvw) said foreigners (NA) on DB are helpless now. Sadly I have to agree.

It’s just depressing seeing the world falls like this.

I wouldn’t call it a fall more a stagnation.

Another issue that affects server population appearances is that 3 weeks into the marionette event the people who were doing it on DB have moved to guesting to BG/TC in order to find enough people to do the event.

Also the more time you wait, the less skilled the players. It’s a sad but true statement. Those who are skilled have long since gotten all the achievements and moved on to whatever else they want to play. Leaving those who struggle playing. It’s just how things like this work.

To a smaller degree the same thing happened to the tower when it was there. People were able to get groups together to get to the top floor easily for the first week or two. After that the amount of people in there dropped to the point where there was many times that if the spider queen was up you couldn’t get up. (Especially with the bug that reset your teleports and you had to start from the bottom.) At that point most people had to guest to BG/TC again just because of the massive population discrepancies.

DB has always been pretty low on coverage during NA. There’s a reason our WvWvW is so low during those hours. It’s about all we can accomplish to defend enough to be 100-200 ppt.

Marionette is 3 weeks old and Edge is pretty much brand new. I would suspect this to be the reason that people are doing other things at the moment.

The OP is mostly concerned with emptying bags while out in the game. Which means they are filling all their inventory space while farming or other such activities.

So the amount of guild bank slots/character inventories and such don’t factor into the equation.

However as I posted above, with 100 bag slots, 60 slots per alt via mail, depositing collectibles, instant sale to BLTC, and merchant express items there is really no issues.

Without paying gems you start with the ultimate capacity of 100 slots.

On top of that you can instantly teleport all craft items to the bank.
On top of that you can magically sell stuff to the BLTC from anywhere in the world.
On top of that there are “Merchant Express” items to create a merchant anywhere.
On top of that you can mail 6 stacks to alts. Total of 60 slots. (10 mail limit.)

And if you want to spend gems you can increase the collectible depositing to 1000 instead of 250 max, you can also buy 60 more slots in the form of bag slots and you can buy up to 64 character slots for a grand total of……

1000 item storage for all collectibles, 160 bag slots, 3780 stacks available through mail, infinite bltc selling, and portable merchanting.

I see zero issues.

The problem with something like healway is that you deal no damage at all. If you want to be able to take out your targets you need to increase your offense.

Try switching to something more along these lines: http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fUUQNAR7dlUgiC33RLEfIFRugaBYPwYG741jESRGC-jADBIjERzUEQkFCZ0IwpmDZM7MqVWFRjVZDT9CWDbIq2bDRzmL1CBobMA-e

This is what I run.

3200 attack, 3500 armor, 19.8k health. It’s quite durable. I am almost always the first to charge into a zerg right to the back lines with all the damage that entails and I always survive. I can even down others in 1v1 still with this setup depending on what they are.

It’s not the top of the line DPS, but it’s enough of a compromise between damage and survivability.

Edit: I have retreat in that setup, but I only use that when moving with zerg and such. I switch it to stand your ground after the swiftness stacking.

As I said though. I am against protecting people too much. There’s already a confirmation window. But it wasn’t read. No need to add highly annoying additional pop-ups or text boxes. It was already annoying when buying key pieces to have to click another button to confirm that yes I indeed asked to purchase that item…

They are quite different.

The color of the window is different (Darker Grey for transfer). There is a gem cost/wallet on the transfer. The button for transfer is larger since guest is a smaller word. Guesting has a bullet list.

I’m sorry but I think this is user error and not an issue that would require such a thing. Personally I think the game has too many protection measures.

Then again I am a person who abhors the fact that there are instructions on a package of pop tarts…

Kumu Honua.2751

You are playing Guild Wars 2. Guild Wars 2 has a living story. Parts of the living story change things in the world. One of the recent changes is that there is a superweapon in Lornar’s Pass. One in which if it’s not stopped shoots a zonewide laser to kill everyone.

You can choose to participate in the event or not. It will not stop the event from affecting you. When scarlet was invading zones it was the same thing. While you were doing something Scarlet would show up smack you upside the head and then disappear.

OR the entire zone would be covered in a massive amount of clockworks and such. It’s the same thing. Zone wide interruptions. The choices then, are the same as now. Participate or not.

Expect more of it in the future. Participate or not. Suffer the consequences either way.

The event is part of the story of the game. You can choose to ignore it and keep doing what you are doing, but that does not mean that you are immune to consequences such as dying to the loss laser.

Much like you can be working on a heart quest only to get interrupted by a dynamic event. It’s a consequence of the game world. You either participate or not. You have that choice, but the game will carry on regardless.

According to everyone, just don’t go there seems the solution, to that logic, the game is unplayable. If the Puppet causes me to fail multiple events, that helps me not be able to play and not everyone keeps track of that puppet and when it spawns. And again, I don’t remember any other world bosses that causes this much inconvenience on any level as this one does.

No, by that logic you get your entitled self out of the area so that you don’t have your “bill” for lack of participation. You then return when the event is over and go back to doing whatever it is that you were doing.

The duration of the event is 2 minutes for complete and utter failure to about a half hour for closer losses. That gives you 1.5hours out of every 2 that your playtime is completely uninterrupted.

Stop being so self entitled and adapt. The game is not unplayable. That’s pathetic.
