Suggestion: dealing with dead ppl

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Kumu Honua.2751

Anypony who doesn’t rez a fallen combatant is just selfish.

This game is based around helping each other out. If a player has fallen, and is dead, of course it scales the enemy. The game is expecting players to revive him/her. 5 players reviving 1 fallen players is much faster than expecting them to walk back, and the amount of dps contributed by those who are revived already greatly increase the amount of damage your group is putting out (rather then their corpses just rotting). This is just basic math. lets say 5 people deal 100 damage. 1 falls. now your deal 80. over 10 mins, riving the 1 to deal 100 again results in a much higher number than the 4 dealing 80 and yelling at the 1 that fell.

think about the group, and the others playing this game. And of course, remember that this IS just a game. That is what makes a great community.

Think about others, like we did at launch.

Nope. Waypoint back. Being there dead simply encourages the Zeqasa’s to clump up in an easy to destroy stack causing 5 more to become useless instead of 1/6 not doing dps, you now have 6/6 not doing dps.

Rez the downed, leave the dead.

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Kumu Honua.2751

Kumu Honua.2751

If people would make a habit of refusing to rez anyone who is fully dead. This wouldn’t be an issue.

Who cares about the scaling. Stopping to rez them to full…

1. Removes your DPS as well as theirs.
2. Causes a bunch of people to go to one spot to get splatted by AE as they rez.
3. Increases your “value” for an enemy to target making #2 worse.
4. Causes you to be semi-prone and vulnerable.
5. Probably gets you killed as well as them because of how long it takes to rez adding yet another loss of dps.

It is simply not worth rezzing fully dead people. Ever.

HI mr troll , you are not welcome here.

“Learn to dodge” , Oh sure, as if I don’t know how to do that, and as if was only about that. Tell me mr troll, do you NEVER get downed? Are you so kitten good that if you type /deaths the number show as ZERO?

Either way, back to the topic, is this really the way it works?

I wasn’t trolling you.

You asked if it was supposed to leave when you get downed. (Title of the post.)

I told you to learn to dodge (Number one reason of getting downed is failure to dodge. And especially apparent when you watch the vast swaths of people who cannot dodge things like the knights highly telegraphed attack).

I told you not to get downed.

I also gave you an option to reduce the "It costs 5 silver!!!’ cost.

Polished Content?

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Kumu Honua.2751

Kumu Honua.2751

IIRC, Patch 3 was to make it so people could actually consistantly get loot for successes.

Nope. That was the one that apparently turned off loot.

Patch 4 reworked Knight mechanics (increasing knight’s defense in the process), and tried to fix loot success, but failed to really solve it. And patch 5 finally fixed loot, but added additional issues.

Edit: Anet said they were taking time to polish the final updates, correct? If that’s true, it does not show with this update.

For all the saying of “removed loot” I just got an assault core and 6 champ boxes from a FAILED knight event. IE, I was at green, green failed. I got those boxes. I got 6 boxes from a failed blue knight event.

I don’t see anything about “nerfed” loot.

In either patch 3 or 4, they removed all loot from knights. The patch that “fixed” it was a patch that SAID that anyone who participated got loot, when in reality only those who defeated their knight got loot. The last patch is the only one where everyone got loot.

So you are simply missing a timeframe where loot was removed.

People are trolling the spider

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Kumu Honua.2751

Kumu Honua.2751

Here’s the trick.

1. Have a group or two ready and waiting at the spawn. It’s always the same place.
2. Engage IMMEDIATELY upon spawning. No waiting for people to arrive since you already are there. Any “trolls” who engage with you are a 1 in X (X being how many people you have there.) chance of even being the target of the cocoon.
3. Focus entirely on killing the cocoons, unless you have snare skills, snares should be blanketing the spider when a cocoon is started. Even if a “Troll” doesn’t help by pressing 1, you can kill the cocoon just fine.
4. ???
5. Profit.

Trolls allowed under "play how you want"?

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Kumu Honua.2751

Kumu Honua.2751

That’s why point number 1 is to be there BEFORE it spawns so that you can react to that. If your entire group engages, he has a 1 in X chance of being the one being targeted.

If there was no one else there before it spawned, I don’t know how this piece of advice is useful at all.

Seems someone will always have something to say to excuse bad behaviour.

Except that if the OP wants the achievement, they can get a group or two of friends to be sitting at the spawn point waiting for the champ to spawn. If they engage immediately then they will have 10 or more people ALREADY READY to destroy cocoons and no one can bother them.

I wasn’t excusing bad behavior. I was telling them how they must proceed to have a better chance. They can’t just wait for it to spawn and then run there from wherever they hell they are and HOPE that it succeeds. They need to be proactive.

1. Get there before the champ spawn.
2. Engage immediately.
3. Focus only on killing cocoons. Then if no cocoons do damage to spider.
4. ???
5. Profit.

Here’s a question.

Why didn’t you kill the cocoon? You can target and destroy the cocoon yourself.

They can make it only slightly harder by not helping to destroy the cocoon from within, but if you are really working on it..

1. Be there BEFORE it spawns so that there’s enough to take out anyone cocooned. Don’t wait for it to spawn before you get there.
2. Focus down cocoons.
3. Immobilize/Chill on the spider is important if there is someone who isn’t helping to destroy the cocoon from within whether because of lag or trolling.

Play better. Play smarter.

2. On a scale of 1 to 10, Are you happy with the amount of cores that are entering the game? Is the price at a point where you would like it to remain?

3. On a scale of 1 to 10, How well do you think you handled communication about the issues with the event?

4. On a scale of 1 to 10, How well do you think that event scaling is working?

5. On a scale of 1 to 10, How do you like how the rewards are achieved in the current (March 6th patch)?

6. On a scale of 1 to 10, How happy are you with the success/failure rate of the knight section of the event?

7. On a scale of 1 to 10, How happy are you with the success/failure rate of the scarlet hologram portion of the event?

8. On a scale of 1 to 10, How would you rate the overall living story?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Moveable UI elements should be MANDATORY for all MMO creators.

Everquest vanilla (Yeah, that long ago) had a fully moveable and even customizable user interface…

Better zoom out/zoom in is not a balance issue. Why are we prevented from doing it?

Actually it is. In wvwvw, you can’t use certain siege in certain places because the camera does not allow for your targeting reticule to be placed at certain spots.

Those who use the zoomhack stuff CAN do it for that reason alone. There is a balance issue involved in the zoom. Don’t get me wrong. I hate how close it is, but there is a balance issue to consider.

Hey Colin,

I would like to see Anet address the insane particle effects.

I can never anticipate when to dodge the statue of dwayna attacks because of this. You can barely make out the enemy model. Particle effects are nice and all, but in gw2 they are overly done. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this issue in any mmorpg I’ve played.

Yeah we’ve done a number of steps already this year to improve it, but we have a long ways to go to get it cleaned up to the point we’re happy with. It’s something we’re continuing to work on for sure, but we’re focusing way more on game performance currently before we turn back to the FX side.

How about an option to simply turn off particle effects. Leave the ground circles from enemies, but for all that is holy please let us turn off particle effects!
