Well, that is a disappointing response! I’ll post my ticket response for any of you who have not filed one:
Hello,
Thanks for contacting NCSoft’s Technical Suppport. At this time we’re currently been made aware of the issue and are actively investigating the cause. Unfortunately we have no ETA on when this will be resolved yet. We have discovered that as a work around you should be able to make purchases using a Windows machine if you have access to one. This includes Mac machines running Boot Camp as well.
We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you, and appreciate your patience as we work towards a more permanent resolution.
If you have any further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
Regards,
XXXX
NCSOFT Technical Support
Rather disappointing if I may say so myself. I’m sure many peeps purchased the Mac client without owning windows at all… Not very nice and just shows the level of Mac support we receive.
Are you on Mac? Or you could try deleting some emails.
Sorry to hear that. Have you thought about a ticket? There are a lot of threads about hints not completing. I have no idea what could help then.
Random thought… I wonder if completing a daily while guesting on a different server could help… Probably not, just a thought.
I figured as much, I was just whining to whine.
Hey Anbu, that is a really odd occurrence, could you please post this in a new topic on here. We like to prevent derailing this thread and keep it all about Anet supporting us again.
While we’re on that topic, has anyone read Jon Peters’ post on the game bug forum: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/The-forum-bug-process/first#post2215900 ? I’m not sure what to make of it though. I wonder if between how volatile the forum player base has become in other sections and Ashley’s experiences here he wrote that. But it leaves me thinking that it doesnt include us. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
Please try to keep it friendly and unlike the rest of the whole forum. Constructive is key… Not sarcastic or inflammatory.
If you guys are on macs, this might be the newest Mac bug with no do-it-yourself fix. Waiting on ticket response. Some have said their tickets were acknowledged and we just have to wait it out. This started after the 6/12/13 extended maintenance.
We may just be stuck waiting it out.
Awesome, it’s always the simplest things lol. Glad your issue is fixed!
That’s been going on since launch. I wish it would save names for the inactive pets too.
Just filed my ticket. Crossing fingers they find out what happened a get a quick fix out for us
I’ve had this issue since just after launch for me. I thought it was random issue then, but then it just kept happening. It was about 5 months ago it got really bad. It still happens, but not as often. I’m thinking you’re just lucky you haven’t seen it until now. (btw, I’m on the Mac client)
I just tested it and I also got the parse error. I’ll go through the troubleshooting steps also and if it doesn’t work, I’ll file a ticket next.

Drunk fox, please view this page and let me know if anything works for you: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Error-confirming-purchase-of-gems/first#post2214350
So far, this is shaping up to be a Mac only issue.
I have never seen that error. Only the parse error. Try the above steps as well. Please post back if anything works or not.
A quick fix for this issue is pressing the key that appears “stuck.” so, if you are running forward after releasing W, then just press W again and release, the character should stop moving… Same with spin direction, strafing, etc.
This has been reported before, I’ve even reported it in-game many times. There was a thread or two on it somewhere before. Hopefully, this helps you.
This seems to be a new bug introduced after the billing maintenance the other day. My friend called me that night and told me about it. I also saw 2 others on the tech support forum experiencing this (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Cannot-purchase-Gems/first#post2213939) but there has been no response.
If I hadn’t just purchased gems last week, I would test it also.
Would you be willing to try a troubleshooting list for me? I’ll post it, if you can or want to,you can try the. Start with step 4, if that doesn’t work, start at step 1 and go through to the end. Then please post back if it works or not.
This will be LONG, but please read each step completely.
1.) run software update to ensure all drivers and os are up to date.
2.) try repairing disk permissions via Disk Utility first. Then…
3.) repair the client install
Open Terminal
Type the following:
/applications/guild\ wars\ 2.app/contents/MacOS/cider —use-dos-cwd C:Gw2 -- C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe -repair
You can copy and paste that in, but (check the dash) you must change the dash before the word USE or this will fail the forum shows an em dash (—), but it is supposed to be 2 consecutive en dashes (-). Run it and let it go until finished. FYI if you type the command yourself or paste it, they are 2 dashes (-) side by side… I’m noticing one sometimes looks like an em dash… It’s 2 en dashes though. (the dash before USE is 2 regular dashes)… Reiterated due to previous confusion about that dash on these forums.
4.)Perhaps after doing that, if it doesn’t work, you can try to delete the contents of the gw2 data folder, it’s a pain to get to the right one: this step is a general fix for many tp issues, even without the previous steps
Mine is located under the hidden Library folder (navigate using finder, do not use spotlight to search)
/[yourharddrivename]/users/[yourusername]/library/application support/guild wars 2
You may want to copy/paste this folder to your desktop as a temporary back up, just in case.
Delete the contents of that specific folder (you should see files like this contained within “config, dyndata.dat, user.reg, userdef.reg, and folders p_drive and wineserver…namestuff…loca..[long name]” just to list a few), then re-run the client..
~~Your folder is probably hidden (as is the default). Hidden folders display as greyed out text and icons. I found this after googling:
http://m.wikihow.com/See-Hidden-Folders-on-Mac-OS-X-and-Other-Recent-Models
Others claim alt+clicking a file/folder unhides the contents, but that was never successful for me. At least the link has visuals for you. Hope it helps.
5.) check support.mac.com for instructions on how to reset your pram and smc.
6.) If none of this works, check the sticky and submit a ticket, then please come back here and report the fix that worked for you.
I look forward to hearing from you after. Thanks and I hope you get your ability to purchase gems again!
Yeah, I notice that also, probably why I forget it too… Never get a confirmation noted in my head that it worked. Lol. Let’s hope we find out from the op if it worked or not.
So yeah, it’s still disappearing and lagging up in the game. Made dragon ball a pain last night lol.. Lag combined with a half un-responsive mouse = running into walls and unable to accurately turn and target = a bad time ;p
Anyway, I’m not sure how the mouse is handled in this game on the mac… But it’s a little wonky at times lol
Does anyone have any word on this yet? Is anyone else experiencing this?
We’ve got 2 macs and 1 unknown. Has anyone figured out how to fix this issue at all? My friend is fairly annoyed and I don’t want to buy more gems to test it on mine.
Have you tried running the -repair command? Or maybe deleting your local.dat file?
That should be a given considering (despite the fact that the skill bar doesn’t change) you use a unique “weapon” to bash the piñata with. It shouldn’t be a big deal since there aren’t any imposing cd’s for weapon kits really. (I use grenades on my engi and when it gets unequipped, I can easily re-equip without much effort) And, you’re in a city with no immediate danger. So, this seems to be as intended.
Shouldn’t you be able to export it as a text (txt) file? I just can’t remember I avoid windows like the plague when I can lol.
That’s a great idea that I always forget about lol.
It should work when you receive a laurel, the box would pop up, use the x to close the box. That’s how it worked for me anyway, but I guess that’s really not helping you.
If you just receive the reward for your daily by clicking ok, it may have gotten glitchy then. Have you tried completing a daily on a new character?
You may need a ticket for this one.
I haven’t seen this crash around in awhile. (not since a week after the culling patch) I don’t think Anet really responded to this one. I’m thinking you may actually need a ticket. If you do submit a ticket, please post back here what they tell you and how it was fixed.
I’m sorry I couldn’t be more helpful, but I don’t think our troubleshooting steps will help. If you want to try them still, let me know, I’ll post them up. Please keep us updated if you file a ticket and what the fix is.
As stated in the post above, here is the location: navigate to it using finder, not searching spotlight
/[yourharddrivename]/users/[yourusername]/library/application support/guild wars 2
Edit: my bad..duh… Hold on…you mean the mass of contents that you downloaded when installing? If you’re looking for something else, you should start a new thread so as to not derail this one.
(edited by Kyllaa.1385)
Compatibility mode? Not sure.
You could always make a backup of the core game file so you don’t have to redownload all of it.
Mojo, that’s the one. I just checked in with my friend and that was a no go for here too.
So this my friends seems to be a new bug introduced after the maintenance yesterday. (6/12/13)
You may want to start filing tickets to see if this can be addressed… Again, if I didn’t just purchase gems last week, I’d test it myself too. (I asked her to test on a 2nd Mac, but it seems she will not be able to test a 2nd Mac, maybe I can convince my hubs to try lol)
Hopefully a dev could pop in on this, but the status seems “unlikely” after reading a recent post on the bug forum by Jon Peters.
Kitavia, if you coud post back if you’re on a Mac or pc that would be great. Thanks.
(edited by Kyllaa.1385)
Or you could try uninstalling and reinstalling the latest drivers for your vid card. That could help too.
I was getting this on my Mac from Mac client launch until just after Halloween, our fix is easy, we just delete contents of a hidden folder, reload the game and voila, gem purchasing returns and the tp behaves itself a little more consistently…. But I’m not sure how to accomplish the same thing on pc…
My friend started getting this yesterday on her Mac too after the maintenance, but she cannot seem to get to the folder without her hubs, so I don’t know if that’s related and I have plenty of gems atm so buying is not an option for me right now. If this works for her, I’ll post back.
In the meantime, I hope some pc guru comes on to help you with yours.
Lol! Hawks with freakin’ laser beams… Always a riot, right ;p
Oh yay! Glad to hear that. FYI, you are on the border of min specs, so just be mindful of this in the future.
Don’t forget this little fix if you ever encounter major trading post issues or other odd graphics glitches (excluding the ones with hawks). And an smc reset if nothing else fixes them.
I hope you enjoy the game!
That’s quite possible. I do, however, have issues with 10.7 not relinquishing inactive memory. When I ran 4gb, I would frequently run out of memory after 1-2 hours of play degrading the game performance to 4fps and stutter/lag constantly (10mb free memory that would dip to 4mb). My only fix was a purge. Hence my now 8gb lol. So, true, it’s probably the 8gb of men that makes my extreme multitasking possible, but even with all that, I was only using about 250% of my whole CPU. But anyway, lol, we don’t program this stuff, so I guess we’ll never know ;p
I posted a link further up
I know when my game runs it usually runs at 200~210% CPU, which doesn’t really bother me… It runs fine.
I’ve even run it while having photoshop cs6, dream weaver and illustrator going, plus a safari browser window with 5-10 tabs and was still functional… Though not recommended. But yeah, it just seems this thing doesn’t really know how to manage multiple cores very well. But it’s playable.
Most likely not, but I just coudn’t remember the “default value” so yeah he wouldn’t want to change it. I was just about to look it up from my old backup lol. I haven’t really fiddled with the one app support folder… You’d think that would affect more, but considering changing the contents folder actually does things… Who knows lol.nim going to look into that one now.
Edit: okay, I must be a noob, I’m not seeing one in the application support folder other than than the regular gw2 folder… I only find the local.dat file in the documents folder. Point me in the direction you are referring to please?
(edited by Kyllaa.1385)
Oh yeah, with the same file, there is also a video ram tweak that could be adjusted. It’s set really low by default.
Foxx, there was still more than now lol. But the support page claims there was support here ;p
I’ve got a random question for you, under your system preferences/energy saver, do you have Automatic graphics switching ticked on? (both battery and power adapter, but most importantly power adapter)
Oops forgot to answer, there is no eta on a native client. So far, it seems all work (including updates and fixes) for the Mac client have ceased, we seem to be stuck in the beta version of the cider port.
I understand not wanting to buy windows for this, since they offered a Mac client (despite beta status), you’d expect it to work on a system they list as one of their “runs well on” systems… And beta implies that advancements are being made to eventually transition out of said beta status. But we have had no confirmation either way of our status on the beta client.
As of now, all we have to go on is this: this client stopped being supported on the forums 5 months ago, no updates have been made specifically to the Mac client since the same time, bugs have not been addressed or corrected on the Mac client, and we only in the last week or 2 even had a dev/support staff reading these forums in the last 5 months. It’s not looking too promising thus far, but Ashley (our friendly every-hat support friend) has at least been visiting us here and I’m hopeful that maybe she could help us progress the status of the Mac client.
Okay… Done finally… Sorry.

I get this issue on my MBP with a wireless mouse, but I also get issues with using my keyboard too (ex. When I hit F to interact with something, sometimes it takes a few tries to get the action to occur, same with walking, jumping, turning with mouse, skills using 1-9 keys)
I tried to attribute it to dead batteries in the mouse, but even with brand new, it still occurrs. Sometimes, my mouse cursor even disappears, using the touchpad doesn’t even bring it back… It just comes back on its own after about 5-10 seconds.
I don’t know if this is actually a bug in the client or what, but I don’t have any issues anywhere else with this mouse or other input (including keyboard), and I use a ton of graphics editing software like photoshop and such that requires precision.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. (going to check for Mac drivers again lol)
Edit: no drivers for Mac, just updated “control software” but I guess we’ll see. In Mac, mouse properties are controlled by the applications it seems, and I’ve had bad experiences using the control software to modify mouse behaviours in games, usually only changes button clicks and not proper function.

Hey guys, memory errors seem to be a problem for many, I know mine ran rampant right after the march 26th culling update in EB (typically in large scale fights… Zerg on Zerg… Actually exclusively) It seems these issues come from some systems inability to process so much info or inefficiently trying to do so. But this hasn’t bern confirmed as far as I know. It could also be due to poor programming or even corrupted system files. My crashes stopped after the fix one week later.
Perhaps you could try basic steps to try and help your systems, or submit a ticket to try and shed light to the development team. (see the submits ticket sticky)
The op did not post any system specs or any other detailed info about what happens before his crash, but for mayooka, yours definitely sounds like an odd graphics processing issue (green/blue models). Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the most current version of your vid card drivers? Have you guys run all of the windows update updates, even the seemingly insignificant ones? Have you tried running msconfig to temporarily disable all startup programs to see if you still get the crash? Made sure there aren’t any further updates to direct x? Have you run the gw2 -repair?
These are just a few suggestions off the top of my head, I’m sure others will have more. But if nothing you find works, go for a ticket, then please post whatever fix you have back here to help others who may have this issue. Good luck!
I appreciate seeing this post. No, it may not answer all questions, but it does show that they care. There seems to be a decreased dev/support presence on the forums recently, so things haven’t been getting addressed as quickly on here, but hey, even the forums staff needs a break too. (at least the bug forums hadn’t been neglected/unread for 5 months like the Mac forum…. Thanks again Ashley!)
Anyway, I’m sure this post wasn’t meant so everyone could post their bug experiences here, so I want to say “Thank you” to Mr. Peters for at least taking the time to address this rather than leaving the hundreds of posts hanging with nothing (or only being able to get to 1 or 2 in the time it took to write his post).
As for a test server, I’d rather have those resources devoted to making our servers better so we have less lag issues. (within the first hour of testing a new content launch, they can find and address more bugs than 8 hours of minimal player testing, besides why waste the resources, time, and money so a handful of people can test the content early)
I wonder if anyone realises that there is more lag due to an increased number of people playing for the event? I personally have not seen an overflow map in some time (other than when a world event pops on my server, and even that has been minimal recently), and since June 11, I almost cannot go to LA without an overflow. So maybe… It’s related to number of players.
I understand that it shouldn’t cause this bad of a problem, but every game gets more laggy when overcrowded. At least gw2 doesn’t stick you into a login queue because their login servers or your home servers are full. You still get to play, just do it more cautiously or try to play outside of prime time hours until some of the craziness with this event dies down a bit… Also, it’s officially summertime (in the northern hemisphere), there will be an influx of school aged players hitting the servers at all times.
And personally, I’m not getting this terrible lag everyone is on about all the time, I get it around prime time evenings, so I just don’t play then. But even still, my most inconvenient experience is increased loading times to get into any zone, that’s all that’s gotten worse for me. So, I think the players reporting on the forums (as is proven in player population vs those complaining of issues on the forus) is fairly minimal compared to the overall player base. Just my 2¢.
Hi! Sorry you seem to be getting that. Normally, you should post your system specs when trying to get a solution to a problem, but with any luck we won’t need them. I’ll post the Mac troubleshooting instructions for you here. You can try step 4 first if you like, if it doesn’t work start from 1 and work through them. Please read step 4 completely before attempting (all steps for that matter). Please post back what worked for you, if nothing worked, post back that it didn’t work and follow up with your system specs please. [length warning]

This is a known problem on the Mac client that was introduced on march 26th with the culling update. No eta on a fix though.

Nice! Thanks for posting this and looking forward to your upcoming comparison.
