You can try to temporarily disable any antivirus and firewalls (including on modem/router, sometimes, they are enabled by default).

If problem persists, post back with how you are connected to the Internet (wireless or cable connected), what type of connection (public, private).

Gw2.exe and Repair Util Crashing

This seems like the program is being blocked. Make sure you are running as an administrator and you may want to try disabling any antivirus or firewalls you have and test again. Disable UAC if that doesn’t help and test again. And if still having issues, run msconfig, disable all startup programs, restart computer and try gw2 again.

Please post back if any of that works. (you can also re-enable most of this afterwards, but if the problem starts again, then we have to figure out which step fixed the issue and why, so please post back what worked)

This could be a memory issue. My system would do this with gw2 when I would run out of free ram.

Also, get an app to monitor your GPU and CPU temps. Post what temp you run both parts at while the comp as been idle for 10-15 minutes, then post both temps after and while running the game 10-15 minutes.

Definitely uninstall and reinstall the latest video card drivers. If that doesn’t work, get an app that can monitor your GPU and CPU temps and post them here (while comp is idle for 10 minutes and after running the game 10-15 minutes).

For some of you, you can try deleting the local.dat file located under my documents/guild wars 2. Disable any overclocking you may have set up. Check your memory usage prior to any crashes.

You could also try running msconfig, disable all startup programs, then restart your computer. Test guild wars. If you have no crashes or significantly less, run msconfig and enable only 1 program at a time, restart computer and test gw2 again. Once you crash, that’s a trouble maker, continue until you find all bad apps.

If none of that works, I highly recommend you submit a ticket, then post whatever fix they suggest back here to help others.

Well again, you could uninstall your video card drivers and try the beta drivers, if available. You could try deleting your local.dat file in my documents/guild wars 2 and see if that helps, but it’s not likely. Make sure your video card control program is set to use your application settings to test it. Also, open your computer up and make sure the video card is seated well and clean out the dust from your fans and heat sinks while in there.

You can try running msconfig, disabling all programs, restart computer, test gw2. If this fixes the issue, run msconfig again and enable only one program at a time, restart comp, and test gw2 again. Do this one at a time until you run into the issue again, that’s the troublemaker… Continue until you go through all startup programs.

Also, make sure you aren’t overclocking, if so, disable and test.

If one of this works, please file a ticket and post whatever fix they recommend there back here to help anyone else having this issue.

Yep, I experience this too. When attempting to do jp’s, it’s the worst, it’s like tripping when you attempt to jump forward, nothing happens, then a half-jump-trip off an edge.

The needing to button presses just to start running forward has only gotten worse for me. But, at least my graphics are getting better ;p

But really, I waste a ton of endurance because of this bug and then I can’t dodge when I need to because I already did twice due to some random I didn’t dodge, then suddenly dodged twice… Or didn’t dodge at all, but the endurance was used anyway o.O

5. Change the language back to English (anglais)

There is a bug that will cause a certain button to stick (as an example, if you try to use a waypoint or a skill, instead of activating, it will link it in your chat window when you left click… As if you were holding that button down) When this occurs, intentionally create the behaviour, I.e. control+left click something to cause it to link in chat, this usually fixes the issue.

Mac Issues

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Kyllaa.1385

Kyllaa.1385

[this will be a long post, please read steps completely before attempting]

Sounds like varied issues. The mouse problem is a known Mac issue and the only fix is a client restart. The tp not loading is also a common problem that a restart usually fixes, however, I’ve recentlynstumled upon an in-game fix you could try out, however, it may introduce a gamma bug. After utilising this set of steps, your gamma may get dark suddenly. To counter tht, just open the graphics panel and move the gamma slightly and drop back on your preferred setting. Here are the steps or the tp in-game fix, please post back if they help next time you encounter your tp issue (it needs to be repeated every time it occurs though):

1. Open your trading post
2. One your options panel
3. Change the language to French
4. Wait for the trading post to reload in French
5. Change the language back to English (anglais)
6. Test trading post

As for your odd client issue, go through these steps 1-5 and let me know how you go. Read each one completely before trying.

1.) run software update to ensure all drivers and os are up to date.

2.) try repairing disk permissions via Disk Utility first. Then…

3.) repair the client install

Open Terminal

Type the following:

/applications/guild\ wars\ 2.app/contents/MacOS/cider —use-dos-cwd C:Gw2 -- C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe -repair

You can copy and paste that in, but (check the dash) you must change the dash before the word USE or this will fail the forum shows an em dash (—), but it is supposed to be 2 consecutive en dashes (-). Run it and let it go until finished. FYI if you type the command yourself or paste it, they are 2 dashes (-) side by side… I’m noticing one sometimes looks like an em dash… It’s 2 en dashes though. (the dash before USE is 2 regular dashes)… Reiterated due to previous confusion about that dash on these forums.

4.)Perhaps after doing that, if it doesn’t work, you can try to delete the contents of the gw2 data folder, it’s a pain to get to the right one: this step is a general fix for many tp and graphics issues, even without the previous steps this will cause you to lose your saved settings, including login/password, graphics, & sound.

Mine is located under the hidden Library folder (navigate using finder, do not use spotlight to search)

/[yourharddrivename]/users/[yourusername]/library/application support/guild wars 2

You may want to copy/paste this folder to your desktop as a temporary back up, just in case.

Delete the contents of that specific folder (you should see files like this contained within “config, dyndata.dat, user.reg, userdef.reg, and folders p_drive and wineserver…namestuff…loca..[long name]” just to list a few), then re-run the client..

~~Your folder is probably hidden (as is the default). Hidden folders display as greyed out text and icons. I found this after googling:

http://m.wikihow.com/See-Hidden-Folders-on-Mac-OS-X-and-Other-Recent-Models

Others claim alt+clicking a file/folder unhides the contents, but that was never successful for me. At least the link has visuals for you. Hope it helps.

5.) check support.mac.com for instructions on how to reset your pram and smc.

6.) If none of this works, check the sticky and submit a ticket, then please come back here and report the fix that worked for you.

Trading Post Font messed up (too big)

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Kyllaa.1385

Kyllaa.1385

You may want to double check that your font settings under options is set to small… Or set it to a different value and then back to your preferred setting.

If that doesn’t help, you can try to delete the local.dat file under: my documents/guild wars 2

Otherwise, you can try to delete the gw2 cache. I’ll hunt down the directions and post them for you in an edit to this.

Here is the post in full by an Anet staff member:

“Hi. There are many factors that can cause problems with the Trading Post and/or Gem Store. In order to diagnose your specific problem, we’ll need you to submit a customer support ticket, please. Also, please include any relevant information, such as your operating system, your PC specs, and firewall info.

We’re sorry that you’re experiencing this issue and hope we can help you.

Before you submit your ticket, you can try clearing your cache. To do this, you will want to close GW2 and:

1. Click the Windows start button.
2. Search for temp
3. Find any gw2cache folders and delete them.
4. Relaunch the game.

I hope this fixes it for you, but if it doesn’t, please follow my initial instructions."

He did not post this for your specific problem, but hey, I figure, it’s worth a shot.

Please let me know how you go

CF, you could try making sure no other programs are running and there are little tweaks you could make to the config file but first, you could try this: (read completely before attempting)

1.) delete the contents of the gw2 data folder, it’s a pain to get to the right one: this step is a general fix for many tp and graphics issues, even without other steps

Mine is located under the hidden Library folder (navigate using finder, do not use spotlight to search)

/[yourharddrivename]/users/[yourusername]/library/application support/guild wars 2

You may want to copy/paste this folder to your desktop as a temporary back up, just in case.

Others claim alt+clicking a file/folder unhides the contents, but that was never successful for me. At least the link has visuals for you. Hope it helps.

2.) check support.mac.com for instructions on how to reset your pram and smc.

Try these, then test your game. Warning, deleting the contents of the gw2 folder will RESET all of your in-game settings and you will lose your saved login details if you have that enabled… Make sure you know your password.

Post back whether this helped or not, also, please post your video ram.

You aren’t overclocking, are you? If so, test without it.

Make sure your amd control program isn’t interfering. Also, check your crash logs and dmp files to see if any system errors are generated, this may help you determine what could be causing the issue.

Lastly, open the system up and make sure all of her hardware is seated well and completely and everything is free of dust while you’re there.

Have you tried deleting your local.dat file? It’s located in my documents/guild wars 2. Right click on the new shortcut icon, go to properties and add space dash repair to the end of the path. Is windows 100% up to date, including the optional updates? Direct x too? Have you made sure your ati control program isn’t interfering with it?

Have you tried filing a ticket?

Seriously, threatening to give your account away to a “pc rocket user” is lame considering no one is bolstering your complaints here. No one is agreeing that they have issues on here (some in other threads have, but not adding to this one claim), you are one person in thousands. Have you searched around the forum looking for things to try to improve your performance or were you waiting for someone to hold your hand? If you couldn’t find help here and no one else is experiencing “your” specific issue, didn’t you consider that it might be time to file a ticket and get help just for you?

You’ve only been at it for 2 days, hardly much time to be threatening leaving if it’s not fixed. Be glad you’re not on a Mac waiting months for any word at all, slugging through rough performance and glitchy hawks, only to realise they only care when you can’t give them money. The game is young and they are testing optimisations to work with the unlimited combinations of system specs out there, give them a chance, learn self-help or find out how to get the help you need…

Sheesh, go to us.ncsoft.com/gameadvisor, install that, then file a ticket and attach the file game advisor gives you, or run the shortcut with " -diag" appended to it and attach that. (game advisor is probably what you want though) And I’m a Mac user! We don’t even have these options!

Serophous, I’m not sure what to do then… This doesn’t seem to be gw2 causing the issue. If windows is 100% up to date, direct x is too, drivers are current, you’ve set the amd control panel properly, repaired the client, deleted your local.dat, temps are good… My last suggestion would be to open the computer and make sure your vid card is securely in its slot, then try to run a system diagnostic to verify you don’t have a bad piece of hardware. Also, check your system crash logs, sometimes hey could give insights to these issues.

But considering it’s occurring elsewhere and causing issues outside the client, it’s very well possible this could faulty hardware. I’m sorry I couldn’t help you
