Not surprising – a lot of us can’t even get to that zone on our server anymore. We’ll be doing it a while yet before all the TC players trying actually get out of overflows (perhaps longer, to do it on said overflows).

Well I’m not sure one can really ‘hijack’ an overflow, but yeah. I’ve often thought it would be easier, if you were organized, to pull everyone to an overflow than try to get into your main server.

How about…

Pre-overflow: population could be natives, guests, whatever. Same as now.

Overflow: guesting still works, but guests are not placed in queues when they arrive in an overflow, and cannot be pulled into the main server by party members. When the zone is no longer in overflow this is rescinded, they can re-enter it to get in, or simply re-log in the zone and be sure to select the world they want to guest to.

Were you actually pulling people into one on purpose? Or did it just randomly succeed?

So far the overflows I’ve been in, I think the majority of players were dead on the floor. Not kidding about it being the majority, either. Arriving in overflow is like a perfect storm of fail – a combination of people who were all trying to get somewhere else, never heard of each other, and need levels of co-operation that require 3rd party software to work. If any of them win it without organized groups showing up there intentionally I’d be very surprised.

In AC story mode I used ‘steal’ on an enemy near the statue in the room the spider queen spawns for explorable. I ended up inside the statue, though I eventually managed to use the actual ‘shadow step’ skill to get out again (in the direction of the corridor you run up to find Eir).

So, I guess there are still more bugs than the one in the patch notes.

I’ve received credit via turrets in the past, but this was before they started booting me off every time I fired a shot. Previously you could operate them from further away, so when the model moved backward on firing, it didn’t punt you.

You may not be able to build and gear the people around you, but if you’ve got 15 closest friends I’m sure you could stack a lot of might on the things around you (or camp cannons to keep morons off, kite things to cannons to dispose of existing morons, that kind of thing). You can try manipulating the people around you into some semblance of a functional thing, and who knows, maybe after a while enough will be useful that things start happening.

Just think of it as a new tier of crafting. You’ve got to figure out how to turn [Lemmings] into [Broken Tea Kettle].

The fingers don’t take condition damage – everything else is scaled through the roof and readily replaced. So no, don’t take anything intended to kill creatures rather than objects. Kill the objects, kite and CC (fear, knockback, etc.) the creatures. Cleanse/heal cannon operators if possible, and repair cannons.

Hilarious. Before the patch you said that anyone not in zerker gear should be reported for griefing during this event, and here you are in a condition spec. Do i need to say ‘hypocrisy’?

OT: just cos ur a condi spec doesn’t mean u have no direct damage…

There are many more, it would have a 25%-100% chance to drop one of these weapons, it would have a very little chance to drop the one you actually want.

Currently the chance to get something you actually want is like… 0.005%.

Source? The in-game links to them (via dulfy) come up as Rabid.

Meh. I thought it had been, so I just ran up to the front and started attacking. I was fine. Everyone went left (his right) anyway, and I was getting sick of dodging the adds focusing me, so I went there as well. Some AOEs landed nearby – about as many as he’d been firing at me out the front. Now and then someone would get downed by something – hard to tell what, as usual – but they’d get ressed almost instantly.

I think, just maybe, it still works because he isn’t very dangerous at all.

I got the same thing using a ranged weapon on the ‘fingers’ that attack cannons. It’s not really uncommon with objects in this game.

Defeated, not downed. Depending on the presence of AOE and your equipped skills you may or may not be able to assist someone who is downed, but they won’t be using any waypoints until they’re properly dead whether they want to or not.

Weirdly enough I’d say this event is something of a mass gear (and stat) check. The mechanics are fairly simple, if painful (I can tell I’m going to have fun jumping over shockwaves before they arrive). Specifically, it’s making sure you’ve brought lots of power and raw dmg bonuses, and the better your gear, the more power and attack rating you can get. Your build should also contribute power and, if possible, stack it on other people.

Other offensive stats won’t hurt, but nor will they help much. Defending the cannons seems better done by kiting and (where possible) CC than killing, because the creatures take so long to die and are easily replaced. Sometimes the dragon gives you the finger (the more polite of two ways I considered wording that, so you know) and to break its fingers you need… power.

Oh, and I hear it also ensures you brought elementalists. Be sure to Shanghai one if you pass any on the way there!

If anyone was ever going to pay attention to this and fix it, now would seem to be an opportune moment. I’ve lost track of how many bug reports I’ve made about these cannons, not just at the shatterer, but wherever they exist. Over months.

See, it seems at some point the distance from which you can control them was reduced. I’m guessing it went hand-in-hand with that same nerf in WvW. Except, when you fire most kinds of siege weapon, in WvW or elsewhere, it doesn’t physically rock back and push you out of the range you can operate it from because clearly, that would be silly.

I genuinely have no idea why the points don’t give world experience. If there were concerns about cap trading, then find systems to directly address that. Making what’s now the dominant portion of world vs. world unrewarding was not a good idea.

I don’t think it’s so much that there are ‘concerns’ about cap trading, as the system inherently promotes cap trading. You don’t need all the points, so some get left alone, and enemies go to those. Meanwhile your team re-caps the ones they left. It’s like musical chairs squares.

Buffs should die.

Circles needing babysitting when no enemies even show up is a bit tedious but no more than sentrying anything else.

The map itself is decent. Would prefer if the canals didn’t act as funnels, but I don’t go in water, so meh.

I have some… misgivings… about that one really tall spot near the SE tower, which I suspect will make defending it without greater numbers nigh on impossible. Put plainly, defending from within the tower against siege built in the high ruins seems like it would be impossible, and so the defenders would need to have the manpower to take/occupy the high ruins.

But then again, who ever bothered holding that anyway, it gets flipped like a pancake most of the time.

Patch and golems despawn!! lost lot of gold.

I think if you can keep conditions on the Abomination, this reduces the chance of it resetting when it runs far out. Still, the leashing is annoying regardless.

Unfortunately not so much. When it comes to going too far from their starting point (if they path around normally, this seems to be where they entered combat) they leash anyway, and start healing up. If your conditions last long enough, they return to that location, realize ’I’ve been attacked!’ (maybe the bleeding and poison gave it away?!) and run back with full or near-full health.

If you actually want to keep fighting them after that, then poison can kinda help, because it slows down their health regen after they leash. It’s still significantly annoying though and I usually decide to stop wasting my time there.

Apparently mobs were causing people a lot of difficulty. I’ve no idea how, since they were as well available to them as their enemies, but w/e. On the plus side, thieves won’t have to worry about putting themselves in combat by blinding things, since that apparently is a thing now IIRC.

So, pretty much this is what t1 looks like right now…

I would have liked the update if it worked as intended which imo was to have small havoc groups, in addition to just camp flipping, be able to control and skirmish over these areas. The new terrain is meant for small group skirmishing that seems pretty apparent compared to the open field areas meant for zerg on zerg battles. Instead, we are going to have groups of 30+ running just in the ruins while roamers will have even less of an impact than they did before.

Hopefully things will die down within the first week, but who knows.

Meh. I don’t disagree on any particular point, but it’s been said over and over. They clearly expect something wondrous to happen here, and it’s too late to prevent it, so right now all we can do is let it play out and hope that if it does fail they’ll be willing to take the stat buffs out again.

I hadn’t been to this for a few days, then returned on the same character just now, and the chest looked open and I couldn’t interact with it. Other puzzles in LA and elsewhere have been working fine. Is there something wrong with it? Does it reset really slowly? The reward didn’t seem awesome enough to justify that.

This happens with all creatures with a long range charge. Abominations and drakes in particular, but I’ve known rolling karka to do it at times.

The leashing in this game really needs looking at.

Meh, I’m lucky if that stupid skill doesn’t catapult me into orbit on anything but a stationary target. It’s useful on mobs that keep buffing themselves but for a moving player it would probably do me more harm than them.

I guess it would be more viable in PvP with the whole ‘sit in the circle and look menacing’ thing, but why that needs translate out of PvP I’m not sure. I’ve certainly never had to worry about someone stealing my boons in WvW, and would prefer to trait steal if I wanted to do it myself.

I forget what ice shard does, but throw gunk is a combo field isn’t_it? I think that’s the one I keep getting chaos armour from when I use a mainhand dagger… and the whirling axe reflects projectiles. Plus if you’re using the signet heal it’s rather a lot of hits.

TBH I think the items aren’t that bad. They may not all be amazing and certainly not in all situations, but they’ll either do something vaguely bad to a target or vaguely good for you, so throwing them at something to get your steal back isn’t wasted as such.

Also potentially ‘last stand’ if he was traited for extra toughness and healing. He may never have needed to activate any stunbreaks/stability himself; your first attempt at CC could have given him stability, and if you lasted ~10s it’s entirely possible it never wore off. That would let him keep up dolyak signet for extra toughness the whole time.

Of course, warriors do have access to some invulnerability, and a few blocks. It would help if you showed us the combat log, and kept track of whether you were seeing damage numbers on hits, or ‘0’, ‘miss’, ‘block’, etc.

Gavbeorn’s Landing in CS is like this too. Bunch of people waiting around for the temple to start yesterday scaled it up: everything sent our way died, then the camp was lost anyway. A swarm of risen spawned and were promptly annihilated, and the camp was ours again.

The only explanation. So your server doesn’t have enough unaffiliated people to do this, or people showing up without their guild necessarily having organized their being there? Sounds roomy.

There are some really empty GW2 servers out there. Like, ‘handful of people at world event’ empty. If you’re an organized group doing this, organize going to a quiet place for it. The locals tend not to complain about the reinforcements.

I’ve been waiting for rifles on thieves for ages, and I’m pretty sure there’ve been threads about it now and then for a long time. Never bothered suggesting skills personally because I’m sure they’d come up with that on their own regardless, but thieves are singularly lacking in ranged options, and rifles can only be equipped to two(!) classes at the moment – seems both could use expanding.

If it’s only supposed to go out and back like that one, there’s something very very wrong with it. I think last time I saw 8 hits in the combat log, over 3k each, which happened simultaneously.

I wonder if it’s trying to fire one at everyone nearby or something…

Also WTF is ‘vapor blades’?

I was fighting this thing as a necro in full rabid gear, in DS at max life (leeching off all the stuff around) and was instantly downed, then killed, in two attacks (multiple hits each, but instant). I’ve mentioned that before but nothing ever came of it – is it broken, or what?

This seems unnecessarily complicated – the game already has ways around defense. Why not apply bleeding, or vulnerability?

It may have had missing skills, ‘unknown’ enemies, and no idea what a condition was, but one thing the combat log always did communicate very clearly was that it would be a pain in the juvenile cat to update the combat log.
