The prank would still be funny if you could turn it off. Why won’t they let us turn it off?
You are asking for too much, too many kittens in this playerbase defending this bs. Why it is such a irrational thing to request a toggle is crazy to me.
Its for one day. They never have a toggle because it’s ONE DAY.
kitten just turn your graphics down if its that much of an issue.
So let me get this straight…..you can tell me it is just one day as if it is not a big deal, but I cannot tell you it is just an off button as if it is not a big deal? Instead of putting in a simple command to turn it off I have to go through and change my settings then put up with the stupid arm thing I don’t want to se for a day. Is this the type of logic you practice daily?
Sometimes that simple command, isn’t so kitten simple. As a developer, I know this quite well. Stop saying it’s simple when you have no god kitten clue what their code looks like or how it actually functions on the back end.
You do have an “out” so to speak, just change your kitten graphics settings. Takes 30 seconds to change the settings, it would take you that long to flip open the screen and hit a freaking toggle.
OoOoOoooooOooooo a developer huh…citing your profession over the internet always convinces people.
And you have 0 argument to counter my point, so you attack me as a person. Makes you look snazzy now does it not?

April Fools happens every year. Every year Anet does some prank for it. There is no shutting it off, per se. If you don’t like it (which is your right) either don’t play for the day or turn your graphics down for the day.
I wasn’t expecting you to mean the movie Titanic. April Fool on me. =P
I thought you meant the number of people who, like me, jumped to their death for the music.
Oh yeah, that reminds me! Can we get a red post after this is over that details the number of falling deaths per day over the past week? I really, really want to see that number. XD
Wait….music?
Well crap, now I’ll need to actually put my headphones on tonight so I have sound. Or maybe I can just go hunt up that youtube vid….
Noooo! Experience the music
I plan to…at least once.
As long as I can get on before reset crosses fingers

Its the same every year, Anet makes “hilarious” graphical change that manages to kitten lots of people off and doesn’t give a kittene. They did it badly all through Gw1 and the choo-choo is still going
Yes it was funny, for the first 10-15 mins, now its just irritating fighting other players with no animations and the annoying sound
There are a lot of people that loved the GW1 April Fool pranks. The gender swap, the gwen chan, etc etc. I’m guessing far more enjoy it than don’t given that they keep doing them. Obviously is they were as much of an issue as many claim, they would stop because it would be notably detrimental to the company if they didn’t.

I’ll have to add my ranger’s screen shot when I get home. I took a couple last night in SW. It was a good chuckle. That goofy kitten look on my char’s face just cracks me up.
This thread reminded me why I tend to avoid these forums nowadays. The lack of common sense is just . . . overwhelming.
Yeah no crap.
No common sense.
No sense of humor.
Just….ugh. I don’t have words (that wouldn’t get me infracted)…
Then take the day off. It’ll be removed when the day resets this evening.
They didn’t remove the bobble heads when people with no sense of humor kittened, I don’t see them removing this either. It’s the standard April Fools prank. We get one every year.
Arenanet already apologised that the April Fool’s offended the sensibilities of players. It was not intended.
The problem here is that they really shouldn’t need to. This prank has likely been planned for some time, it’s not their fault a plane went down and made the news.
Planes crash every day and the vast majority of them don’t make the news. People die every day, but it doesn’t make the news. The world doesn’t just stop because of it.
People, we need to absolutely STOP!
A plane crashed. It’s sad. It’s heart-wrenching. People died. This is all true. However it is also true that the world continues on.
Tragedy happens every day, whether we’re aware of it or not. If the world were to stop for every one that occurred, it would be forever stopped. We would be locked in a state of grief and mourning forever.
I understand that some people are hurting, and my condolences to those people. You need to grieve, do so, no one is saying not to. However, the world doesn’t stop turning just because you’re in pain (I know, I’ve been there), and the ones that are gone wouldn’t want the world to stop either.
I do wish the Anise outfit were actually armor. It would be awesome to mix that corset with a couple of the existing skirts.
Hard to give a release date that they don’t have yet. Any date the give you would be an estimated guess at best. Then if they had to push that date back because it wasn’t ready yet, people would still complain about dishonesty, blah blah.
They can’t win either way they go. Still, this is pretty standard for Anet. Once we get through beta, they’ll have a better feel for when it should be ready and we’ll see a release date announced. Just have some patience.
“But I paid for the game and funded them to make the expansion! I am the customer! I am always right! They need to release it now! And if they don’t they should go back to releasing free stuff like they did before!!!! Until the release it I’m going on strike. I won’t buy gems or log in until they give me what I say!!! If they don’t at least tell me when it’ll be ready I’ll complain until they do!!! But if it’s too soon, then I’ll complain that they did a horrible rushed job!!!! I am right!! Anet needs to listen to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
This is why I am glad I don’t work in customer service anymore….
Yeah…. I’m right there with you. I’ve gotten in trouble many, many times for letting people know exactly what I think of them, or their actions.
shrug oh well, at least I don’t sugar coat it…
Warrior….definitely warrior. Charr heavy is lovely!
This may help you some.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_gear
Ascended gear comes with “infusion” slots. On armor, these are ‘defensive’ slots. You can use a definesive or omni infusion in them. You can use all of one in all your pieces (like all vitality for example) or you can use an assortment. Up to you.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Infusion
Ascended gear is used in pve and wvw. Pvp is its own animal and uses its own flat stat set up so that everyone is on even footing.

Oh yes. Far far too froofy. Lose those shoulders and I might entertain buying it.
Anywho….
I don’t mind outfits. They can make and stick those in the gemstore. I’m good with that. I do want new armors too. They could make those and stick them in game. Maybe as collection rewards like Lumi. Maybe as drops like carapace. Maybe have a set tied to completing a certain set of JPs. Lot of play options that could reward a specific armor skin.
I’m greedy. I want both!
Y’know, this tangents decently to the kerfluffle from another thread. Why make us buy armor sets then charge us again with transmutation charges? (I’m actually just fine with the system, but it’s a relevant argument.)
Paid outfits pay for the art asset and the infinite, easy use.
Keeping armor sets in game encourages the content to stay relevant, and it spurs purchases of transmutation charges without “making” people buy them.
Well to be fair, have they really added any new armor sets to the store since they added outfits? The most recent where part of the game play. I’m fine with the existing ones remaining there, they were there first after all, and as armor, should be subject to the same trans cost as in game armor. Its not like you don’t get 1 free apply, which is essentially the same with any in game armor you get (u can put it on, counts as applying it).
Yes, you’re buying ti, doesn’t mean you spent money on it though.
I love outfits.
Being able to switch quickly between sets, and not having to worry about transmutation charges.
We need another heavy armor outfit.
The ceremonial one is okayish, but it’s too froofy for what I’d regularly use it for.

Am I fed up waiting for something else to do? Uh no…got plenty to do still. Thanks.
What are they doing with the gemstore sales? They are uh.. .insert gasp here …working on the expansion you want. Go kittening figure. We’re paying their salaries so that they can continue working. Now, are they working on other stuff beyond expansion content. Maybe, though probably not much. Given that they are gearing up for beta soon-ish, I would think they primary focus (as Colin has said) would be on the expansion and getting it done.
What? You don’t like that they don’t have enough man power to “do it all”? Buy more gems so they can hire more people then. Box sales (which I’m guessing are rather low now) and gem purchases are their only income. You aren’t paying a sub fee to pay their wages, and likely a significant chunk of the gem store purchases are bought gold → gems, not cash → gems. They gotta provide for their families too ya know.
I wouldn’t mind Legendary armor… with that oh so handy stat swap…a long as it had ALL of the stat combos.
And Andred, you forgot about legendary trinkets.
We know they were working on those at one point. Though who knows what became of it.
Still, there are more important things on my “would like to see in game list” that I’d like to see prioritized over legendary armor.
If you don’t believe in god that means you will act on instinct and you will have no values since you hate the values of god therefore the only thing that will stop you from doing evil is the LAW , that means you made governmental law your god .
stupid atheists fail to understand this , if they even have brains in the first place lol
This is far from true. People can have values and morals without subscribing to an organized religion.
Besides, nature relies on instinct alone and it does far better than the human race seems to do even with it’s religion and laws.
Don’t worry, some day the whole bible and jesus thing will go out of style like all New Age religions do at some point.
Christianity has been around for over 2000 years and the Christian God has been worshiped for approximately 4000 years before that. What you say is highly unlikely to ever happen.
Why is it unlikely? It spread here around 900 years ago during the northern crusades and our old gods were around for thousands of years before that. Why wouldn’t the same thing happen again when the next big thing comes?
Those ‘old’ gods, as you put it, are still worshiped in some places. Even in America. The only god’s that I know of that have come close to extinction are the greek gods (Zeus, etc). But you can still find a few people who believe in them too. They are younger gods, however, than the Christian God, who is the oldest known God to be worshiped anywhere.
This is incorrect. Judaism is roughly 3000 years old. Christianity is younger than that. Greek, Roman, Celtic, Egyptian, etc pantheons predate Judaism.
For you, Lanfear! Anything for you!
OMG! <3 it! TY!
Earlier release with less content?

No… I’d like them to release it when they feel its done. “When its ready.”
Now, do I mind them releasing with say…not all the new legendary skins? Nope, not at all.
Would I mind if they released without the Mordy fight being finished? Yes, yes I would. Let’s not have another Zhaitan thank you very much.
Oh my…. I need popcorn. Where’d I put my popcorn?!
Anet is a company and Guild Wars 2 is their property. They have the right to not allow whatever they want inside that game, because it is their business. They could say “You are not allowed to play if your hair color is brown” if they wanted to
Actually no… because that would be discrimination, which isn’t legal. Yes, they have the right to terminate your account, as it is their property; however not for a discriminatory reason. Fine lines there.
- Conditions are being worked on. We have a confirmation from a dev that bleed and confusion are having their stat caps removed (and we have screenies of this in the stress test). As of now other condis are staying ‘as they are’ but I expect that torment may eventually have it’s cap raised as well, if not removed completely. The fun part will be if this applies to just monsters….or if it will apply to players in pve too (shouldn’t happen often except maybe in WvW). FYI, per Colin that Wyvern is not a World Boss. He’s not even anything ‘special’ and he’s just the tip of the iceberg.
- Given what we’ve seen of the Modrem thus far, zerker is not the optimal gear in all situations. This already starts to address making other armors more valuable. We know that zerk gear is not optimal against world bosses as well. I am hoping the continue to build off this in the expansion.
- As for removing ‘useless’ sets. Who determines useless? You? Can you verify that no one uses the sets you deem useless? Everything is viable. Just because you don’t use it doesn’t mean it ‘useless.’
I understand Atheism less then I understand God/Allah. Seems to be a group of people set on letting everyone else know they are wrong.
Atheism is just the lack of a belief, you are thinking of anti-theism.
If Atheism is the lack of belief how can you get anybody to believe in it?
You can’t believe in atheism. It’s just the lack of believe that a god exist.
It sounds like atheism is the belief that a god doesn’t not exist?
No that’s not it. Unlike religion, Aetheism isn’t itself a belief system. It is not a disbelief in gods (which is how you’re defining it) or the denial of gods. Generally speaking it is simply a lack of belief in the supernatural, which isn’t precisely the same thing.
1st world issues I guess?
Dear gods I wish I had 500g to my name….let alone enough to be impacted by this issue.
I tend to agree with others, block them if you have an issue with it. If they are attacking you report them for verbal abuse.
I’m not offended by it personally….though I do have a tendency to use it to pick a fight. People get really upset when I start picking their faith apart.
About the potential drop in prices. I see it as a good thing… Makes the game more inclusive for new players starting out. If to me making an ascended set of gear is kitten harsh, imagine a guy that reached 80 yesterday on his first character, and has like 10 gold to his name.
I didn’t say it was a bad thing
I’m pretty much on the same page really. Just figure I’ll make some gold while I still can, and won’t have to stress about replacing them down the road.
Yes, making ascended gear is amazingly expensive. It’s definitely on par for effort and cost with FoW or Vabbian from GW2….and just as ugly imo. I hated 99% of those skins too haha.
linen farm coming *crosses fingers
Oddly, its wool that I have an issue with. =/
there will probably be one of those too, but i hate most of the 15-25 areas
lol same here. I used to enjoy Kessex…. yet, I find I don’t really anymore. Maybe it’s just because I’ve spent way, way too much time there.
I am actually looking forward to being able to farm Giant Eyes.
And Charged Lodestones.
Yeah…with a guaranteed way to farm Charged, I should probably sell the 40 or so I presently have…..before they (potentially) drop in value.

Personally I’m excited to see them implement the map bonuses. Generally speaking, I enjoy doing events, and I like farming; however, I dislike the seeming lack of specific farming in GW2 (ie, you can’t go out and kill or do ‘x’ to get ‘y’). This may fix some of that. which may make my farming feel a bit more enjoyable / worthwhile.
I had taken a break from the game for various reasons. Tried other MMOs and enjoyed them less. I’ve recently found a group of people I thoroughly enjoy (and am discovering others!) and it makes GW2 very enjoyable.
I suggest that you find people you enjoy. Once you’ve done that, it won’t matter what you’re doing … dungeons, fractals, open world, sPvP, WvW, or just chatting it up in LA.
I have friends who would play this game with me if there is challenging content but without some challenging content they will not play this game unfortunately. I’m trying to find reasons to convince them to give this a try.
I’m not worried about gearing up or anything like that. What I’m interested in is difficult encounters to work on for a sense of achievement and challenge. It doesn’t have to be raids or dungeons, it just has to be difficult, so is there anything like that in this game?
Honestly you’re going to get mixed signals on that, as ‘challenging’ varies from player to player. Sometimes quite a bit. It also depends on the type of challenging content you’re after. If you’re looking specifically instanced, Aether path in Twilight Arbor is considering challenging by some though not by others. The same can be said for the Arah dungeon in general. And you have Fractals, those can be a kitten at higher levels.
For open world, many players seem to enjoy the new Silverwastes map, which has a touch of WvW in a PvE setting, and the Mordrem foes can offer some challenge during the sieges.
To put it very bluntly, GW2 does not have a WoW style end game. It is not about repeatedly running a dungeon or a raid to achieve your next piece of gear so you can move to the next one and repeat the process.
The game does have several dungeons, and a tiered dungeon like content called Fractals of the Mists, which some people run repeatedly because that’s what they like but (imo) this was never intended as “end game” as others typically view it.
We do have large scale open world bosses, which a lot of people do as their end game. As Test pointed out, there’s a handy timer if you want to chase that train.
Others do pvp or wvw as their end game. Both of which have new things coming in the expansion.
Yet others just like exploring maps or leveling more characters.
Others still find their enjoyment in flipping the trading post all day.
Whatever floats your boat.
In short, the “entire game is end game.”
A real expansion is NOT just a bunch of LS bundled together. A real expansion has 10-12 dungeons, 2-3 raids, new activities, new races, new classes, new skills, new features, new stories and new zones. The LS component SHOULD just be a small part of a full expansion. THAT is what people have been asking for.
So far there is not enough information to state for certain which way this “expansion” will go, but based on all their qualifiers, and “this will come after the launch of the expansion” talk I can understand peoples apprehensions.
A “real expansion” for other games. GW2 is not those “other” games. They’ve basically proven that instanced content is not the route they necessarily desire to go. They’ve explained why a new race would add nothing at this time. They are following their own path. Many don’t like it, but it’s not their call to make.
I don’t even….
/Facepalm….
“We don’t like LS we want a proper expansion -angry face”
Anet: Okay, we will give you an expansion -Works on expansion-
“We don’t want expansion because it’s just LS combined”
o.o
You don’t like the first format, so you demand a format used by pretty much every other MMO out there where you get little to no content for several months and then a bigger whack of content in one go. Then that’s exactly what they’re going to give you but then you complain you don’t like this either….. I don’t even…
On top of that you honestly thought the stress demo was all of the content you were going to get? I don’t even know how you could have possibly thought that was all of the content seeing how they already told us about a bunch of other things we’re going to get. Of course that wasn’t all of it… I’m just… /headdesk /giveuponhumanity

So much +1
Show some backbone people. “Gee I have a few of these things that would let me alter my armor’s appearance, should I save them until I’m level 80 or change my looks everytime I upgrade my armor as I’m leveling to 80? But that’ll mean I would have to actually spend money to get more. True, it’s less than going to see that new movie this weekend even without the popcorn and soda but shouldn’t I be able to play the way I want for free?”
rofl!
So true… so true. My husband and I went to see Insurgent last weekend and it cost us $50 after tickets and snacks (2 sodas, 2 pretzels, and a popcorn to share). That’s a lot of freaking trans charges!
Not as much as you would think, 155 of them with 130 gems left over (or 150 with 400 gems left over for a simple armor piece or Bobblehead Lab).
155 is a lot for me though. I presently have over 100 as it is, and with all the mapping i’m doing, I’m getting more by the day.
I think the biggest concern here (as with an inspect tool) as others have already highlighted would be negativity, bullying, etc because of a persons choice of stats.
However, I think something akin could be implemented to show just the skin being used, and perhaps even the color of the gear tier, but leave the specific stats / runes / sigils / infusions off all together.
http://gw2-fashion.com/
http://gw2style.com/These sites fit your description, they’re fan based and completely optional so it’s a win/win situation on that end.
Not exactly what I was referring to. The OP wants something like WoW’s armory which is a real time (relatively) view of what a searched for character is wearing. Along with a whooooooole bunch of other stuff (achievements, crafting, etc). Which, I think something could be done, but like I said the concern would be with actually showing things like the trait spread, the skill bar, the gear stats. A lot of people don’t wan’t to share those specifics.
i know for some people this isn’t the case but for me i don’t want them delaying the expansion because a few skins with cool effects aren’t ready
Same. I’d rather have something over nothing.
Can we have something like this?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: LanfearShadowflame.3189
1. Drag boss to certain spot at the edge of the map (sound familiar?)
2. Rotate through a group of tanks to keep the boss in that spot
3. Drag the boss to a spot in the middle of the map on the next phase and continue
4. Switch back to the original spot after the second phase ends
5. Tank damage, heal tanks, and DPS until you win.
Sounds like standard speed clear tactics to me. Except in GW2 there’s no specific tank and no specific healer.
Hell, reminds me of speed clearing in GW1 as well. E/Mo…heal heal heal….tank Dhuum. Blah

Copper fed salvage (unlimited basic salvage for 3c per)
Silver fed salvage (unlimited mystic/master salvage for 60c per)
Watchwork mining pick
As for inventory management. Buy some candy corn cobs and trade them to the vendor in LA for cheap 20 slots bags.
Bank tabs are also always wonderful imo.
As are the collection stack increases (if you do lots and lots of gathering)
The map bonuses (at least to me) sounded like they were being applied to all the maps, core game as well as HoT. The example they give is Cursed Shore, which is in Orr, and those bonuses sound level appropriate. I’m guessing the lower level maps (sans starter zones per the post) would have similar bonus rewards to what you could potentially receive for map completion – ie, crafting materials or cooking ingredients available from that zone.
…if you look at what they did in the last tree years with their game, and the very little information they give to us about HoT, it’s just logical to be scpetical about these things
imo you have gone past skeptical to downright pessimistic
not saying you can’t or anything of course
as someone who hasn’t gotten any legendaries yet (mostly my own reasons and not anets (quit for a while) i’m looking forward to the new system
I’m new to the game, but it’s hard not to be skeptical when they promised players new Legendaries by the end of 2013 as a part of the game without additional DLC/paid feature requirements as well as a new means of obtaining them. It is now 2015, said items aren’t out, and when they do come out additional cash will be required to get them. Just playing devil’s advocate here, but over a year-and-a-half behind schedule and with promises broken wouldn’t make anyone optimistic about anything.
We did have a post in October / November 2013 from Colin stating that those things would not make their end of 2013 deadlines. The announcement for those items also came with a disclaimer that it was not set in stone and could change for a variety of reasons. We further had a comment from one of the community coordinators around the April 2014 feature patch that precursor crafting was not in that feature pack and was delayed due to changes to the core game.
So it’s not like we didn’t know.
Beyond that, they never said it would be free when they implemented it.
Who's gonna get rich off precursor crafting?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: LanfearShadowflame.3189
Get rich? Not likely lol
Go broke? Oh hell yes. I’ve put off making a legendary repeatedly because of precursors, but the collections have me stoked. Combined with the new map bonuses….let the grind begin!
