Hey larynx can you articulate to me how this actually kills any power builds? Or which specific builds you are referring to?
WvW:
GS+Axe
GS+Hammer (both defense and arms variations)
To a lesser extent GS+Mace and GS+Rifle also exist
sPvP:
GS+Longbow
GS+Hammer
Solo and non-phalanx:
GS Str+Arms+Discipline
All depends on the might generation from Forceful Greatsword, especially the PvE and hammer variants.
(edited by Larynx.2453)
In the process you kill every power warrior build for WvW, PvP, solo, and non-phalanx dungeon builds, just so you can play with axe (which already has plenty of might generation even without the bonus from Forceful Greatsword) occasionally.
Doesn’t take much thought to make a warrior build for PvP.
Discipline+Defense + Another trait line. Take Healing Signet, and at least 2 stances. Take Marauder or Zerker amulet. Take the same power runes and sigils that every other power build uses.
To answer your questions more specifically:
burst is preferred
no one has come up with a viable hammer/axe build because it’s garbage. If you want to play it, use this build: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Warrior_-_GS/Hammer and swap all the greatsword stuff out.
You know easy it is to trivially check a question like that, Nier?
Not to mention it’s pointless information. No one plays Mace and Axe mainhand in the same build, and you’re worrying about a level 2 skullcrack, not level 3? On top of that, you’re not specifying other modifiers, namely Dual Wielding Agility, Quickness, or Sigil of Paralyzation. Furthermore, your “clarified” question is even more ambiguous. “how many axe auto attacks can you land before he can recover and dodge the next stun?” What was his endurance at before the stun landed? Does he have vigor or other endurance modifiers? Do evades count as dodges? What does “recover” mean in this context? How many and which stuns does the warrior have available to him?
Here’s my answer: You get zero hits, because no one would ever play that terrible build in this unrealistic and vague scenario.
(edited by Larynx.2453)
It’s basically Killing Spree, gw2 edition.
Can use them for spirit shards can’t you?
Thick Skin is the default replaceable scapegoat trait now, I guess.
“Yeah so I really like Death Perception, but for some reason it’s not available on warrior. Can we replace Thick Skin with it?”
So you come here on the warrior forum to show your kiting skills vs bad warriors xD nice song though
It’s not even good kiting. He’s actively running toward the warrior. Not running away, not even running a circle around him. He runs a straight line to the warrior and does that kittened little jump dodge every time.
Yes. Lets break one of the few mechanics that ranger does well, with their long lasting water field, so they will be even more unwanted. Not a ranger, but I can at least acknowledge them.
I honestly can’t even understand why anyone would complain about this. Unless they’re a pug wvw player that is always losing to organized groups.
That’s more of an Engineer and Ele mechanic, actually…
This has the potential to set up a ‘requirement’ for dedicated healers, ie, those who sacrifice all damage to enable their allies to live longer and thus deal more damage (to make up for the damage the support cannot provide)
this in turn sets up a situation where people are forced to sacrifice their preferred playstyle in order to make play in any way possible. That’s not good design and i’m glad GW2 has never crossed that line.
Why i would like the healing power stat to be more useful and rewarding to those who choose to invest in it, i don’t think that this suggestion is a step in that direction.
as opposed to dedicated healers sacrificing their preferred playstyle and instead being forced to run zerker to be viable?
Nope, wouldn’t even consider it…the game is progressing and it’s a step in the right direction. Sure it needs some serious fine tuning, but what game doesn’t.
P.s Your Voting options are highly biased and utterly useless…
Ofc some voting options are useless when I have to put 5 choices but its a Yes/No question. So I had to put some random options in there lol.
You have literally one useful and unbiased option. The only no options are “kitten please”, “No cuz I am a kitten” and “No cuz I like this kitten skillless meta”
This post entire poll is idiotic and you should feel bad for it.
Will be 90% “custom” garbage builds with the theorycrafting equivalent of 3rd grade arithmetic.
It’s a vital part of the Esports drive.
Creating a guild that is “pro-heterosexuality” is offensive and against the rules, it would be like creating a guild that was “pro-white”.
Hypocrisy at its finest!
How is it hypocrisy for one person to say something’s against the rules, and then a completely different person breaks the rules? And no one’s told you that you can’t make a pro heterosexual guild, at least no one from anet, so how is it hypocrisy?
What the previous poster failed to realize is that most hypocrites and bigots are disinclined towards introspection or self-analyzation. An understandable mistake really.
It’s not hypocrisy. Check your privilege.
Straight people have nothing to be proud about.
Once straight people have gone through centuries of discrimination, bullying, being murdered, and other horrible unspeakable acts, then and only then can you have your “pro-hetero” guild.
You can create a “Straight Ally” group, a group that focuses more on straight people who support all sexual identities.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
(edited by Larynx.2453)
I can tell by the language you are using that your intentions are not in the right place.
“parades my sexual views”
That shows me that you are clearly mocking the LBGT guilds. No one is “parading their sexual views”.
Also those guilds do not exclude straight people.Creating a guild that is “pro-heterosexuality” is offensive and against the rules, it would be like creating a guild that was “pro-white”.
This is one of the greatest examples of cognitive dissonance on the Guild Wars 2 forums. I am honestly impressed right now.

If you chant “Meta mesmer” three times in quick succession then Helseth with appear in a puff of smoke.
(edited by Larynx.2453)
It wouldn’t be a patch without people threatening to quit.
Yeah no. Stealth already has very little counterplay, especially with the recent patch. If anything, revealed should be increased to 4s for WvW as well, but that will never happen because that would crew over dagger builds in PvE.
Get over it. The old trait system was godawful, and this is one of the best patches ArenaNet has ever released featurewise.
Still not shocked warrior was nerfed already. The damage output is nuts. Now will they nerf everything else in line? (Hi Mortar Kit + Orbital Strike)
Warrior has always had some of the highest damage in PvP (and look at how many zerker warriors we have in sPvP?), and this patch shifted the relative numbers in favor of most other professions. Damage obviously doesn’t make or break the profession, and even if it did everyone else came out in better shape than warrior did with few exceptions. Just look at the absurd condi damage or mesmer burst out there right now.
IMHO its a fair change really, yesterday was Smack Down day everyone was abusing it and even keeping adrenaline.
Now thats not to say that other things are balanced, its Not really, but the function of Berserker’s Power as of yesterday was one of those unbalanced things.
It could just as easily have procced on adrenaline spent, regardless of the actual hit connecting.
@Sykper
I’ve seen similar suggestions. I think I’d vastly prefer having some sort of Fiery Greataxe as an adrenaline dump instead of weapon conjures or kits. It solves our profession mechanic issue, but still doesn’t tell us what the new utility skills are, and only if you squint really hard does it fulfill the requirement for the new weapon.
Oh I thought this was over.

If anyone thinks it’s just about money and that that is something that drives people’s passion and creativity then they are sorely mistaken.
Can’t be creative and passionate about something without money.
I mean I can be the world’s best booger eater, but unless I can monetize that I’ll be picking noses on the streets and in alleys.
Swoop does not benefit from Quick Draw.

Wow it’s almost like Guild Wars 2 isn’t a charity and ArenaNet have adopted the best long term business strategy for creating a sustainable product.
There does not exist a truly noble company that operates in any legitimate scope. Companies do what is best for themselves to make money. If every person at ArenaNet was offered a job to milk cows for a billion dollars a year, every employee would accept it. The only differences between companies, the only means to actually distinguish one company from another from any notion of ethics, is what business practices they have decided will net them the most money.
You have EA, Google, Microsoft, Blizzard, Zynga, and many others. There is no moral difference between these companies. ArenaNet is no different. They have just adopted a much more user friendly business model than some of their competitors, because they believe it will make the most profit in the foreseeable future.

It’s not that hard to land the gs burst
There’s a reason no one fighting a condi ranger exclaims with glee “Gee, I better swap to Greatsword to cleanse these 20 stacks of bleeds!”
Longbow doesnt even proc berserker power bro. GS>longbow
Anet nerfed it or made a mistake
If anything that’s an even worse nerf to greatsword builds than it would have been if longbow did proc it. Shoutbow doesn’t spec into Strength, and if Longbow doesn’t proc Zerker’s power, the only way to trigger it is to actually successfully land an Arcing Slice.
If you think that’s bad, you should look at their brilliant change to Consume Conditions.
Rofl. I don’t know if I can even take this seriously.
Warrior
Berserker’s Power: You are now required to hit with the burst skill. This will trigger in the same way as the trait Cleansing Ire.
All hail our Shoutbow overlords. The masters giveth and then taketh away, may they merciful in the future.
(edited by Larynx.2453)
Mending was looking to be viable in a few more balance patches, so ArenaNet decided they had to show their hand before it was too late.
While it’s late and I’m running on fumes, is direct damage not mitigated by toughness? Conditions have no such mitigation to my knowledge and , while I may be misremembering that difference, that is what’s breaking combat right now.
Add mitigation for conditions and we’re back on track.
Migation for condis is condi clear and vitality.
Mitigation for power is condi users bursting them down in 5s with what I can only loosely call “Dots.”
… I now want plate boobs on a male charr
What madness have I unleashed?
That would involve making four models for every race. In other words, literally doubling the current amount of armor models ever implemented into the game.
Male for male
Female for male
Male for female
Female for female
For literally next to no actual tangible benefit. No one wants to run in plate boobs on a male charr. You can’t just copy and paste the model between genders. That’s not how this works at all.
(edited by Larynx.2453)
Or could end up being a lot of burning but a trait that allows it to scale from power instead of condition damage as part of the base specialization would make a bit more sense.
I always thought power scaling DoTs were something GW2 did not have enough of, like Bleeds from WoW.
GW2 stil has the best PvP of any MMO out there, unless you just really enjoy winning fights because you grinded longer than your opponent for gear or got really lucky with RNG drops, lol!
Nah, WoW has the best PvP for that. GW2 is just a viable alternative.
GW2 PVP is actually skill based …WoW PVP is grind/which class is more OP based…not comparable at all
WoW PvP is skill based, it’s just not twitch combat like GW2. It’s absolutely terrible outside very specific situations, since it boils down to just cc chains and gear barriers a lot of the time. But, it can be fun in some match ups because of how many skills you need to manage for some classes. It’s like a game of simon says almost. They use X, so you need to counter their CD by using Y, and they counter that with their own. Whoever messes up their counter or gets into a situation where they waste them somehow takes some price (eg. rogue getting a full burst combo off). GW2 doesn’t really have that same methodical approach to combat, it’s just wtfteleport holy kitten thief mistform and then you go one shot a guardian. You have less options (less skills), but you also need to react a lot faster (time to kill is far far faster in gw2, especially for some xpacs like cataclysm where everyone was as tanky as a d/d ele). That’s basically the difference.
(edited by Larynx.2453)
I don’t know where to begin.
I don’t want to explain…..But,
What are some other MMO’s with interesting PvP?
Anyone have any suggestions?
You could try Runescape. Really great combat.
You tell ’em Deimos. Your all caps is gonna show ArenaNet who the real boss is.
I’m more wondering why people hasn’t been complaining about mesmers that can stack up to 40 seconds of stealth, lol.
Yeah mesmer perma stealth is a little absurd atm.
You people have no idea what dumbed downed means or how to apply it. This update increases your actual choices. Less is more with MMO talents. Having a lot of talents just makes it a nightmare to balance, and most of it is false choice anyway. Now ArenaNet can balance each talent directly with only 2 others, rather than dozens of talents at once. If anything this change will increase the diversity of builds since you don’t have so many horrible traits.
This thread is hilariously ironic.

lol
They also nerfed Mending, not only it heals the worst and not a physical but now cures just 2 conditions.
This is amazing honestly.
The previews promised this to be an amazing patch for PvP warrior. Cleansing Ire was no longer dependent on luck, Longbow might actually not be in literally every sPvP warrior build, we’d have some choice in our trait lines and heals with the mending/physical changes.
And then they said screw that. We’re going to revert those changes, go back on everything we said, and as the final nail in the coffin we’ll actually nerf Mending for good measure. But it’s ok, because Rampage is overpowered now, right?
So the end result was the nothing changed and warrior is still kitten in sPvP outside Shoutbow, and still 100% reliant on the exact same two trait lines for literally every single build.
(edited by Larynx.2453)
Whoever has been in charge of the warrior for this patch has been abysmal. Undocumented changes, reverting documented changes without any mention, literally forgetting an entire trait line…
What’s the point in giving us a sneak preview for feedback if it’s going to be handled like that?
Also to be fair it should proc on hit.
No. It shouldn’t.
Thanks for the transparency ArenaNet. I was almost over Mending not becoming physical, but now that wound has been torn back open.
Lol. There’s always someone that disagrees and says: “you obviously don’t play Warrior, Mesmer, Ranger, etc.” if someone disagrees with them. Doesn’t matter which subforum. If you guys were correct, no one but you would play whatever class you’re talking about.
If you can’t generate 10+ adrenaline twice in 10 seconds when you have Cleansing Ire, Fast Hands, and Versatile Rage … then I think we know where your problem is.
If you’re restricting yourself to only using your burst skills with 3 bars when you have Cleansing Ire and damaging conditions stacked on you … then I think we found a different problem you’re having.
So removing 2 conditions in a 10s period is OP now?
(edited by Larynx.2453)
You’re barely going to be able to generate a full bar of adrenaline in PvP in less than the CD of the your adrenaline skill. You’re not going to use it twice in a ten second window without zerker stance or signet of fury.
But hey, you obviously don’t play warrior so I can’t really fault you on not knowing that basic information.
