Well, I guess some people are new to LFG, kicking non-80 is actually very common even before this new patch(even when requirement is not 80). The reason being most non-80s pugs generally wear sub-par gears(ex. lv6x wearing 4x~5x self-found green/blue gears), because they don’t want to spend their money until they hit 80.
With new patch, this just magnified because everyone trying to get in this new 80-only content, even though it was formerly for 55+ content(still is, for the majority part).
Hopefully Briar will enjoy Thorn’s bad joke and decide to join him in Mad King’s realm, then we don’t need to see her for another year.
Ascended needs 500 on crafting(legendary need 400 on two professions), so that may burn quite a bit of t6 materials to get there.
Also, for some people blow their karma pre-nerf, o. shards may now be a very limited resource to them, especially when legendary require an uncertain amount of those.
ps. 15 meta within 45min is a bit over the top, I would say beyond hardcore, may even need to hop servers to accomplish that. On a good day with all events aligned, 6 meta in a bit over an hour is best I got, and I skipped all pre-events(which can take 5~20 min to complete)and only go for the one with chest.
Since T7 material comes with this patch, I think it’s kinda related. There were some discussions about new crafting system earlier in this forum. If mod think it belong to a different forum, feel free to move it.
The problem of keeping T7 materials for future is they are not super rare or come in small quantities, or only requires a small amount to craft(like T6 materials). But instead, they come in abundant and require a lot just to craft one, not to mention it’s time-gated, so unless I use them asap, they will start eating bank spaces very fast.
ps. only few days into the patch, I already have stacks of piles of bloodstone dust in bank, and the only way to avoid getting more is to not open champ bags.
I don’t see much complaint about this so I guess I am the odd one(or everyone’s busy playing SAB to notice this).
My goal is to get a legendary, T6 materials are what I need and 400 crafting is sufficient, there is no reason/incentive to slow down my progress to level my crafting to 500.
The problem is everything I do to farm my legendary give me lots T7 materials, with no way for me to spend them, and the worst part…they seem to be the replacement of karma in many places.
I really hope Anet can do at least one of the below:
a) don’t force T7 materials as reward, make them as something purchasable through karma.(and revert the current karma nerf)
b) make T7 materials salvageable, possibly into T5/6 mat, karma, or MF consumable, something that’s more universally useful rather than just use for crafting time gated ascended.
c) make T7 materials tradable instead of account bound.
If you downed at any point of the instance, you won’t get the perfectionist achievement.(assuming that’s the one you talking about, not defender of the crown)
Well, it depends, I generally earn ~200g per month through causal farming cof, back then people cry about cof farming is bad for economy(and thus the nerf hammer).
So far, I have earned ~500g from queen’s Jubilee and clockwork chaos(not even close compare to real hardcore farmers), and this month is not even over yet.(I am projecting ~650 by Sep 3rd, if I don’t get bored from farming.)
It seems Gendarran Fields/Timberline Falls/some Ascalon maps repeat way more often than the other maps.
Me and two rl friends decided to take shift on calling invasion map this weekend(9am-11pm), and two of us never manage to get completion(both missing Dredgehaunt Cliffs).
Now I am totally regretting helping my friend with the playhouse at the only time that map pop for me last week. ;(
I also find Scarlet able to attend asuran college very strang, it always occur to me those are racial specific thing, now it just reduce to something anyone can attend as long as he/she has enough money and IQ.
It will make far more sense if Scarlet is a priory scholar gone mad, since that’s the only multi-racial academy in Tyria, and where a sylvari most likely get expose to other race’s ideology.
But then again, if inquest is behind all this and the one pulling the strings, Scarlet may be one of their many defected experiments. Although that will be quite strange as well, why would they let her in charge of an army just so she can waste resource for the lolz.
If you just want to complete the instance, then it’s easy either way.
If you are achievement hunting, then group will definitely be easier, the scaling is nowhere as crazy as candidate trial.
ps. I mean group of 5, if you go with 2~3 people, it is actually harder than solo.
While I think the merge/rez mechanics are quite interesting, I find the destroy mechanic incredibly annoying.
That finisher move animate lock the character and share the same key as pick up loot, I feel it really break the flow of combat sometimes.(before anyone say it’s the same as WvW, no it is not.)
Mini priest of Balthazar is not that rare, consider orrian box is the most efficient way to covert karma to gold.
In fact, I consider getting it as bad luck(or rather, waste of good luck), I will be much happier to get any lodestone in its place.
Personally prefer killing captain first, he does more harm alive than dead, then first mate since she deal some good damage.
Never kill gunner first, it turns rest of the crew into range, which can be bad if first mate still alive by then.
Stitch is a preference depend on builds, basically a choice of dealing with burst heal(kill last) or regen(kill first).
If Logan stayed, would the fight really have turned out differently? I’ve seen the guy fight, he hits like a wet noodle, must be full vitality/toughness with like 20 power.
Actually, Logan has that bubble skill that lasts forever and blocks unblockable rocks, I will take him over Caithe or Eir anytime. Too bad the max party size in GW2 is five, I bet that’s the real reason Logan could’t go.
meh, Jennah is not going to die in living story unless Anet seriously consider rewriting personal story for human.
If you run enough cof/coe/hotw, you will know flame legions/inquests/jormag get to vote too.
@MauricioCezar
You obviously missed the one sentence before that:
“Guaranteed coin rewards that previously dropped from bosses in dungeons have been removed in lieu of these new rewards for dungeon completion”
@Mad Rasputin
Your chop-it-all axe analogy is even worse than the DvD analogy, if anything, it will be more like increasing respawn time of trees, rather than making the axe not work all the time for all trees.
As for anyone who cry about the infusion being “useless”, all I can say is Anet is not nerfing GF, they are nerfing the most effective way of using it, so I don’t see refund is needed.
Any seasoned cof runner should know p2 is just as fast if not faster than p1, so instead of running p1 over and over, just do p1-p2 once a day and get 2~3 gold is total fine on my book(that’s the same if not better than running p1 3~4 times).
My worry is rather now that reward is nerf, it will be harder to find a pug(not just cof, but all easily repeatable dungeon like TA, SE, AC), cause there is no incentive to run the same path second time.
Originally, I was gonna vote Evon for the Abaddon fractal, but after running fractal the last few days for Maw achievement, I find Kiel’s offer is far more attractive now.
Fractal dungeons are all short and sweet, with little to no storytelling, which is a great format for endless dungeon. But I just don’t find a small instance will do justice to a well-established lore from previous game, on the other hand, small instance on reactor adds another piece to a not-fully-established lore, which sounds far more interesting.
Unless Fall of Abaddon is at the same scale as dungeon story mode(which will be bad in fractal format), I am taking my votes to Kiel.
Well, let’s just say after we decide to do learn to kite, one friend’s confident is completely shattered. (he couldn’t jump fast enough on Spekks’s Lab, dodge roll every single time screen shakes on Pig Iron Quarry, spent 15+ min trying to get up in the coliseum in OS, even got blow off by the wind in fractal, and lots facepalm from us) All these happened after we finished lesson from sky and got most achievements(only some of us got 1st place) from racing.
@Rottaran
Can’t speak for everyone, but using old JPs for new achievements means, someone either already done it and know exactly what to do, or will most likely look for a guide because they are doing it for the achievement not the puzzle solving, so figure out what to do isn’t that important for JP anymore.
If anything, BoFW exclusive content just give people a huge confident boost to their jumping skill, it doesn’t really teach much of actual JPs(jump boost and lightning pull is way too OP).
Half-done living story/event achievements will get shelf into history tab, they won’t just go away, but not sure once they are there you can still do it.
Depends if you count WvW map or not(part of map completion), cause it is impossible to solo keeps/SM, and pretty much waste of time to solo towers.
For PvE map, I either just beat my way there, or use staff with blink+decoy+viel+MI if it is too tough to solo.
Kite fortune isn’t that hard to farm, I got 5~8 each time from clearing cof entrance(guest on JQ, lots people semi-afk lfg there, triggering tons flame legions spawn every few seconds during the event), with only ~20% mf.
more power to cof farmer I guess.
Well…it is a MMO, you can’t expect everyone to know something that you consider as common knowledge.
It also doesn’t help that most doing their “discovery” on google/youtube, yes there may be some actually trying to solve problem on their own, but for the rest of the community, good hints/clues are generally just favor text to them.
Not to mention, many in MMO community won’t bother to read text and skip cutscenes, which may contain key information, then complain on forum because they can’t figure out the mechanic at first glance.
Well, technically Plains of Ashford doesn’t really lead to LA, since Black Citadel connect directly to Diessa Plateau.
Not sure how people at low level map are doing, as I give up because they disappear way too fast.
High level maps aren’t much better, I tried to be nice a few times but it never turn out that well, lots people aoe tag the holograms and just run to the next one(not even sure they pick up the loot), leave me to deal with 3~4 mobs they pulled while making the mad dash.
ps. I think Daemon sums up nicely, “ruthless” is the right word.
Well, you have to understand that it’s human nature to strike for the most efficient way to do things, and the core gameplay content being RNG means you rely more on luck than being smart, which can irritate people sometimes.
With that said, I do enjoy the view on LA and I bet that’s what Anet spend most their time on this event, but I highly doubt most the community will enjoy sightseeing more than obtaining achievements/skins.
So far my only complain will be those hologram camping, hopefully Anet can create an instance in later release just so we can farm those there instead of compete in open world(like realm of mad king in Halloween event).
From personal experience, I normally get more appreciation from slotting retreat/SY/SYG than projectile reflection. Most party I joined are speed/semi-speed runs, and AOE swiftness/protection/stability are always great in those situations. Not to mention, less dead runner = faster dungeon completion.
On another note, speaking of the dungeon mentioned above, I only find WoR being noticeably helpful in CM, there are some tricks to make the run faster but generally very few spots can be skipped.
For SE, people just run like no tomorrow, and the few spots where party actually stay and fight don’t really need reflection at all or it’s just not essential.
For CoF, not gonna comment on p1; p2 require more stability/stun break and cond removal than reflection; p3 WoR can be very useful if team knows what they doing, but generally people just spread all over the place and reflection end up doesn’t do much.
This is just personal experience, 90% of my runs from PUG, so I am not sure if WoR will make any difference in a more well-organized crew.
At low level, the only reason to shatter is for some extra damage, recommend just mind wrack or cry of frustration, you really shouldn’t think of them as some sort of life saving spells.
If you don’t mind melee a bit, sword/sword is a good early setup, it is the only weapon with -40% cd on illusions at adept level.
Also, as much as you dislike staff, I will recommend it early on, it has the only clone deal damage(random conditions from staff auto) on early game. Chaos storm is also far more reliable diversion/distortion, both for offense and defense.
As for traits, start with dueling, because it is your main supply of vigor and precision worth a bit more early game, then 5 into illusion, then rest is up to your playstyle.
I tried pretty much every class in game(no all are 80), so far my impression on light class:
Necro(staff minion-mancer): not a bad class, but also nothing really special(other than having 2 hp bar). Con: don’t have many traits that can make the class feel instant awesome.
Ele(D/D arcane water): start out a little bit rough, but gets better and better. Its like multi-kit engineer, but with more mobility and less armor/hp. Con: have to reconfigure my keys just to play this class right.
Mesmer(GS/SwF shatter): start out meh, 25~40 is a hard climb, then certain traits unlock, and the fun begins. Con: move slow.
If we only compare overall EFP/EFH:
warrior will be the most OP class(heavy armor with high base hp)
ele/mesmer will be awful(light armor with low base hp)
Having the same issue, camera will zoom very far away, more so than I normally can zoom out, and can’t zoom back in with mouse or keyboard.
Just curious, where did you experience more dead?
I have similar gear/trait/skill choice as you, and one thing I realized is when fighting in scenarios I can’t tank for very long(some parts of dungeons, certain temple/event bosses, etc.), mobs always go after me and it’s almost impossible to de-agro because my toughness is way too high compare to nearby glassy/mf.
Recently, I switch my emerald set with ascended(more precision, less toughness), my weapon/back from knight/soldier to zerker, and now I can actually transfer agro to my friend with full soldier set if needed.
Edit: Actually, now that I think about it, my old gear setup looks exactly the same as yours. Just with 10 point in radiance instead of virtue, so a bit more selfish but I don’t play as a support.

Pretty sure CMF just trolling or being sarcastic, he’s trying to justify a buff to a one-button boon by asking other to play smarter, that just can’t be serious.
Besides, its easy enough for guardian to deal with condition, I personally have 2 passive, 3 active, and 2 light whirl combo, possibly a bit overkill but I enjoy being condition-free most the time. (as opposite to having condition(s) just to deal damage to others)
You may consider get boon duration from runes and traits, its far better than giver can offer.
ps. you only get 70 trait points at 80, so may want to revisit your build.
Wait….guardian is " MUCH MUCH more mobile" than warrior, since when? Or are you only referring to skills like 100 blade? Cause symbols or WW aren’t much better, you know, when target walk away.
As far as I can tell, warrior is far better at running away than guardian, which is what I consider as mobility. That said, only thing I miss while playing warrior is lack of stability, can’t just jump in zerg and start spinning like my guardian.
Condition damage not necessarily good, because it doesn’t scale that well on burn. Unless OP’s whole purpose is to proc that 10% damage on burn foes, then increase duration from zeal is not a bad pick, although 15 radience(Renewed Justice) may work out better in some cases(not in dungeon speed run for sure).
Pure knight set + zerker weapon = good offense and defense setup, but the lack of constant regen is going to be a pain, things can get scary fast when you floating ~15k hp and got only one burst heal every 40sec, 3k+ armor won’t always save you.
I find the choice of Defender’s Flame and Superior Aria a bit questionable, but maybe I miss something.
I have finished all overworld map a few weeks back, and finally finish WvW map this week.
At that point, I didn’t receive the gift, and my completion show 99%, with 2 waypoints missing. My friend told me I may be missing two new waypoints added in Plain of Ashford and Brisban Wildlands(these maps show up as 100% complete, but with 1 wp missing), so I went to those areas and got the waypoints.
Now my map completion show 100% with nothing missing, yet I still haven’t receive gift of exploration. Tried wait ~1 hour, switch toons, logout, etc. still no luck, and filed a bug ingame.
If anyone having similar issue, please let me know if there is a way around it.
Thanks
Edit. Solved, apparently chantry of secret is “out of this world”
(edited by LastShot.4762)
Never said guardian is low on dps, in fact, I stated “guardian contribute just as much if not more to the party/group event/dungeon”. The only part warrior coming out on top is “early pve”.
As for the post you link, all I can say is the poster is assuming all warrior uses GS and no warrior ever spec for condition dmg, which neither is true for the warrior I am running.
I will agree guardian dodge a lot less, but that’s why warrior is better at “hit and run”.
There are situations where I just don’t want to stick around(not because I can’t tank it), and warrior definitely better at getting out of those situations than guardian.
I have both at 80, things fall short compare to warrior:
1. warrior can perm swiftness, perm fury, perm 3~6 stack might very easily with trait and/or rune.
2. warrior can do hit and run far better, most their better boons also don’t require in-combat to apply.
Early pve, warrior will definitely come out on top, because of deep strike trait. But later on, guardian contribute just as much if not more to the party/group event/dungeon.
WvW, bunker guardian is not bad at all, just a bit slow, and very fun when run in groups with warriors or rangers.
ps. guardian also do better underwater, just feel my warrior lost half its power when going down water.(but guess that’s not important, since who in the right mind fight underwater.)
Not sure what your level now, but assuming start with level 1:
Step 1. get healing signet asap, again awesome early game.
Step 2. first 10 trait pts all into Arm, pick up Deep Strike, invest all skill pts gain in between this time to signets.
Step 3. next 10 trait pts into Strength, get Berserker’s Power.
Step 4. next 10 trait pts into Discipline, get Heightened Focus.
Step 5. after reseting, 15pt into defense, then repeat step 2- 4.
After that, start put points whereever you see fit.
This is leveling build I go for, not saying its good for late game, but works great up to 60, even with under level gears.
After that, I crafted all the way to 80 for my warrior, so not sure how last 20 levels go.
Assuming your 2nd is greatsword:
Unless your goal is power and condition duration, forceful greatsword will be much better than slashing power. (this is base off your rune choice suggest precision focus gear.)
Also, 15 minor on strength also go against your build, since you have 2 traits require adrenaline saving.
1) Bleed damage has nothing to do with adrenaline, you just get less stacks because less adrenaline = less hits.
2) From wiki:
Bleeding: 0.5 * Level + 0.05 * Condition Damage + 2.5 = per stack per second
