Please go melee the statue of Dwayna during the temple event and get back to me. Or start going melee vs the Legendary Shaman in FOTM. Good luck!
Dwayna statue is extremely easy, even with huge particle effects going off. She raises a hand> dodge the blue stuffs>attack again. Rinse repeat till chest appears.
Shaman in FotM is harder Ill admit, but a couple of gaurdians dropping WoR right infront of him and whacking the crap outa him still works, as does dodging when he notches the arrow to the bow. And when in the ball phase a good melee player can cut through the adds with ease and go back to spanking the shaman.
Shaman may seem to favour ranged, but the fact is that the faster he is dead the better and for that melee wins hands down. Ive seen it done in fractals ^30 before the patch and seen it done post patch ^30.
They are discussing ways to eliminate the need to craft ascended armor/weapons in the progression CDI threads. Look for a fix for us non-crafters in the next few months I would imagine.
I made it very clear to them crafting isn’t a time sink a lot of people want to invest in, and got a pretty positive response, so look for more ways to acquire the armor/weapons in the future.
My crystal ball tells me thus;
6 months from now ;
“Added ascended weapons and armour to laurel vendors –
Weapons cost 100 laurels each, armour pieces are 75 laurels each”
The way the devs have been going with ascended trinkets this is entirely possible.
T6 Mats sales, skin sales on lucky drops, ecto sales, and event cash. Not everyone is desperate to get ascended gears, or can even do so atm, which means mats and ecto can make a pretty penny per hour.
Also rare drops can be very consistent if you have high MF as standard. YMMV.
Who said fun and rewards were not compatible? I find the FGS train fun, and rewarding. I dont find slogging through 30+ ai, and some veterans for a 2 silver and wee bit of xp and karma that fun just because “its a group event”.
And yes you can win WvW by simply zerging everything in sight. Overnight zerg trains are what wins most of the WvW match ups from what Ive seen happen in WvW. 10 men can TRY to take a keep but two peeps on siege weapons can take them out and/or keep them at bay long enough for the zerg to turn up and smash them.
In any case, its still no reason to nerf or destroy content that people are playing, just because you and some others do not like them doing it.
Still not heard a good reason to nerf QD champ train. Convince me otherwise with a well reasoned argument that does not revolve around " I dont like it", or “abuse”.
So…#1 mashing is fun for you? If all the pro- champ train people think alike, then you guys have set a LOW bar for ‘fun’ in video games.
And incorrect again…Coverage is what wins WvW. 24 hour complete map coverage. One champ train cannot be in all spots at all times on all 4 maps. A group of 10 or 12 taking camps and towers, a group of 30 or 40 taking keeps and garrys, 24 hour coverage, on a good amount of the maps. A handful of large blobs can’t do it all. By saying zergs win WvW tells me you don’t play enough. And I think arenanet even said that the more optimal way of playing WvW is not to zerg around but to have multiple groups running and putting swords on different points of the map forcing the other servers to spread their attention. This is what most servers do anyways.
I dont mash 1, thats auto and I use a skill rotation system as do many others. Just because you dont like the way other people are playing content is no reason to insult other players for doing so.
I have played plenty of WvW and what I see happen is this; Biggest zerg wins, hands down. Your assuming that every player is in the zerg because its a big zerg. You can have havok teams and still have a huge zerg rolling around. This is in fact what some servers are doing at this very moment, so I don’t see how you can argue contrary to what is physically happening. And who said the entire 4 maps are in one uber-zerg constantly anyway? 4 seperate zergs is what I see happen daily in each BL and EB, with the overnight crew then going in to the one train to cap across each map
Yes WvW SHOULD be about multiple teams gaining map advantage consistantly. But this is not the case.
And this is still irrelevant to the topic at hand, which is champ farming in queensdale. I will say it again, its not the champ farming that is the issue nor requiring nerfing. Its the fact that the rest of the content in the game world has pathetic rewards.
EG;
Congrats on beating Jormag > Have two silver! Some XP you dont need anymore, and a small amount of Karma. Oh right rewards, eh…………..here have a box o’stuffs! But only one a day, per account!
Thats whats wrong with the rewards system, to heavily weighted to “chests” and rng of such. Actual rewards for event completion are laughable at best. If the DE rewards were adjusted to relate to the effort involved much more people would be out roaming the world. Instead the game shovels “chests” at us as our rewarding factor for content completion where RNG may or may not be nice to you.
So the real issue is the rest of the game world is not rewarding enough, and does not contain what is currently “high demand” items (ie ascended mats).
Who said fun and rewards were not compatible? I find the FGS train fun, and rewarding. I dont find slogging through 30+ ai, and some veterans for a 2 silver and wee bit of xp and karma that fun just because “its a group event”.

Instead of “nerfing” champ trains, mayhaps it should be considered that other content needs “buffed” for rewards instead.
(edited by Lexandro.1456)
The entire game is essentially “zerg” content, why should QD be any different?
WvW – zerg stacking
PvE events – zerg stacking
Dungeons – stacking (mini-zerg)
Events failing in other zones is not because of champ farming. Its because many of those events are time consuming with little to no reward, or have broken content. I for instance cant stand Char characters, and so I dont do Ascalon stuffs because I dont want to. Added to this though is that the XP curve is horribad for leveling through normal roaming, and many players like myself have multiple characters. Going through content that you find boring multiple times just for XP is just as bad as doing champ farms non stop for mats if that bores you.
GW2 has been known for zergs for months now. Its not going to change any time soon, particularly when devs keep adding zerg content.
Poison, no doubt about it imo. While the bleed stacks are doing the “damage” the poison is negating a large chunk of the players healing power. Against regen types this is essential to whittle them down, where bleeds alone would not do the work. The two work hand in hand. Poison should be kept up as much as possible, so that the bleeds are getting past the healing factor.
Again why kill the champ train specifically? Ive yet to see a clear reason for doing so other than people don’t like it. As I said people being abusive is a separate issue not specific to champ trains.
What issues specific to champ farming are there that warrants a nerf?
Are you sure you purchased the correct helmet to start with? Its very very easy to chose the wrong type and not really notice because the armors are visually identical in the list with only the stats to tell the difference.
Its nearly identical to the thives “roll for initiative” skill. I agree the damage should be completely removed because its pointless. Replace the damage with specific condition removal as suggested and it would be a great skill.
Currently its mediocre but im forced to use it in WvW because of all the AoE spells everywhere and with the nerf to basic stamina regen, rangers are now kitten for evasion tactics.
Hitting people for 3k auto attacks and 8-10k rapid fires, oh and it has stealth and a giant aoe that cripples and hits 1k per tic. If your not happy with that burst then ranger isn’t for you. This is all with the pet doing nothing as well, add in constant spider damage or cc spam from a wolf and its far beyond weak.
Written by someone who did not bother to read the thread. Typical response of the Anet defence types.
I main a ranger and have done for nearly a year. Unless you have someone thing to add to the discussion don’t bother posting here.
As for the mention of rifle wars; I find it ridiculous that a melee centric class has a ranged weapon that has cripple as standard on its attacks when a ranger does not, especially as its the fact that rangers are squishy when specced for damage with a LB and would kill for cripple on standard attacks.
(edited by Lexandro.1456)
Want and need are separate things. You don’t need BiS gear, you just want it. And its entirely irrelevant to the discussion which is the champ trains. If people want to group up and roll around the map taking out “boss” creatures that’s none of your concern. If however they are abusive towards others then they should be reported for doing so.
Everything else is a rather pointless attempt at nerfing champs by players who somehow feel aggrieved that others are “having fun” by farming. And yes I sometimes join champ trains for mats and gear.
7,488+ Unresolved Crashes, where does it end?

Why is it Anet’s fault that a tiny minority of players have problems while several million players run the game just fine?
There is something wrong with your computer, how much memory it has, how much money it cost, how long ago you bought it has nothing to do with it being set up and running correctly.
Indeed.
If the op really has had so many crashes, its a system fault no question. Refusale to accept this fact is why they are still occurring, because the issue is not getting resolved. It is completely irrelevant if “other games” dont exhibit the same behaviour because those other games are not GW2 which is a KNOWN cpu hog and will stress a system beyond what other games will.
The fact that the OP refuses to accept this fact baffles me. I have had a grand total of 4 crashes with GW2 in nearly a year. Hell it crashing on the launcher is a dead giveaway its a system flaw and not game related.
(edited by Lexandro.1456)
I don’t get the complaints. People are playing the game as they see fit. If you don’t like it, don’t do it. Why do you want to stop other people playing the game?
As for people being abusive; That’s a separate matter entirely and one that you should report using the in game tools.
Eh? Hasn’t anyone bothered to look at them properly?
They are seismic probes, made by Scarlet. How do I know? Because they are smacking the ground with hammers which is in the simplest terms how a seismic probe works. And I know they are Scarlets because in the Aetherblade fractal she clearly tells you she knows about “lay lines” across tyria that “dragon energy” travels along.
So the probes are probably just there to find the lay lines exact locations though seismic analysis of the geology.
The issue is that devs consider melee to be higher risk and so it does more damage than ranged. But the fact is there is almost NO risk in melee combat, because of evades, CC skills, mass boons, and easily telegraphed boss attacks.
By contrast a ranged user is at an extreme disadvantage due to gap closers, movement speed in combat, slow speed attacks with ranged, lack of damage in comparison to melee, and generally badly designed ranged attacks.
For those saying one should be better than the other; Sorry but that is nonsense, Range & melee should be near identical in damage output, with ranged units having less defence and melee units having more defence to compensate for any increased “risk”.
It should be a simple matter of preference. If I prefer melee over ranged, or visa versa I should not be kitten or buffed over the other. Both should be equal and its down to player skill and player preference in how we play and in how we maximise the damage.

Well we can at least agree that the channelling time needs reducing. Though on your point of a combo field, would it not be best to add a combo field to barrage instead? I mean since thats AoE a combo field would make sense right?
What kind of combo field would make sense being caused by arrows falling from the sky?
How about dark field? Its been said before in literature and history that a hail of arrows can darken the sky. Simply darken the AoE zone lighting for the barrage and voila!
Or what about a lightning field? Its a rarely used field (only ele). All it would take is a minor animation addition of a cloud or something with jazzy arrows falling and it would fit thematically.
Both are still facets of nature, for which the ranger is supposed to be its “champion” if you will.
Also, how can you thematically justify shooting arrows in succession with the last one exploding? I just don’t think it fits.
Me either which is why I did not suggest it nor support it when proposed. I don’t think it fits at all with a longbow user.
I find its almost always the other way around. That is a 10k achiev player going banana balls on a new player because they don’t do exactly as that person said (even if it makes no sense).
But agree with the ops first point; Blacklisted players should be barred from joining my party listed in LFG.
Look I can understand you feel compelled to use RL money for stuffs you want, and I have no quibble with you doing so that’s your choice. And again I understand you may want to push yourself in fractals to gain higher level challenges.
But not everyone feels this way, and you are not actively competing with other players by doing so. And we have yet to even learn what criteria the leaderboards for fractals will be, nor to how many places the leaderboard will run. Even then there is nothing to “win”, all you get is your name on a list.
That said, do enjoy yourself in fractals because that’s what the game is for after all.
Well we can at least agree that the channelling time needs reducing. Though on your point of a combo field, would it not be best to add a combo field to barrage instead? I mean since thats AoE a combo field would make sense right?
Again you assume I “grind” for gold and am poor. Neither is the case, I play for fun and earn gold as I do so. I have ascended weapons on most of my alts and will get around to the armour at some point. I dont want any legendaries as to me they are all extremely fugly are rather pointless. So that free’s up a lot of gold and mats that you would otherwise use on a legendary.
No need to spend RL money on the game, when everything I want I get easily with stuffs I earn in the game.
Longbow I’d consider a power weapon so the only condition i’d expect to see on it is one that causes more direct damage (vulnerability). So this is what I’d like to see
Attack 1 – Applies vulnerability each hit (0-1000 range 1 stack) (1000-1500 range 2 stacks)
Attack 2 – Rapid fire shortened to 3s with the final shot being an exploding arrow causing AoE damage
Attack 3 – Stealth doesn’t really fit into a power weapon IMO, change this to a charge up shot similar to warriors kill shot or that shot with the rifle in toypocalypse.
Attack 4 – I think this is fine as is though I think this shot should also add 5 stacks of vulnerability
Attack 5 – The damage needs to be returned to the way it used to be, either that or the cooldown lowered to 20 seconds (traited to maybe 15-16s)
Except that, again LB already has cripple on it for barrage so the addition of it to PB shot is not out of the weapons scope nor intent.
I dont think LB needs more raw damage, what it needs is more consistent damage. As I said the number of gap closers in the game makes ranged combat inefficient and costly to use in any kind of meaningful way.
And your attack 2 is way to op. A single target high damage shot that ends on AoE? Far to op, and I don’t know of any other skill in the game that does that, please feel free to inform me of one if there is such a thing.
Its precisely why I did not mention any damage changes because its simply the skills themselves at this point that I feel is the issue, not the actual damage they can produce. If I could channel a 4.5 second rapid fire to hit every shot it would do moderately good damage, but people evade/block/reflect easily. Thats because it takes to long to channel and is easily readable meaning extremely easy to counter or avoid. Lower channel time means higher skill required to evade/block/reflect the skill.
You assume again that everyone will play ^50 fractals. This is absolutely not the case, I know several people who do not play fractals at all, as they are dedicated WvW players.
How does you having AR affect those players? It doesnt in the slightest. How does you have more AR then myself affect me? It doesnt, not in the slightest.
No matter how you go about it, you have no gameplay advantage over me or another player with agony resistance. Your advantage is over the AI who uses Agony.
And its still not pay to win.
Please tell me where you have an advantage over me in the game by having more AR? in fractal levels? What If I never run fractals and hence never need AR? What if I only run low level fractals? How exactly are you gaining an advantage over me? Thats like saying because you have a legendary you have an advantage over another player with ascended weapons in your group for a dungeon. You are not competing against one another.
If AR worked in pvp or WvW then absolutely you could have an advantage over another player.

His error is in the assumptions he had made. He has yet to explain how RL money will get him more infusions, or how removing an infusion (somehow) cuts the upgrade time down, or how “paying” for a convenience item that players asked for and that provides zero gameplay bonus and has zero effect on skills is making the game “pay 2 win”.
No.
If thats what you desire, please feel free to play gw1 which has exactly what you describe.
How is someone removing it cutting time in half? The removed infusion is useless, unless placed in another slot. Removed infusions CANNOT be used to create increased stat, only +1infs can be combined.
And as I said I use boosters when I pvp or WvW. They are of little to no use in PvE as almost all of the content is faceroll easy, or its zerged to oblivion.
Your argument has been shotdown again and again. Just be adult about it and admit your error and move on.
(edited by Lexandro.1456)
Ive been playing for months (nearly a year infact) and have COMBAT boosters in my bank unused. You DO NOT have to buy keys, they drop in the world or can be given for map completion iirc. Also you can “farm” keys, which you obviously don’t know about.
And again I can buy keys with gold if I so chose.
Nothing requires me to pay RL money. False assertion is false.
Whether it has more or less condition application than another weapon is irrelevant to the point.
The easist, simplest and best solution to pet F2 skills is to make them all instantaneous. IE no casting time. Simply press and go, ya know the way every other class mechanic works.
Anet keeps insisting that the pet is our class mechanic and yet we cannot use it properly even with supreme micro management because of issues with the system such as skills failing to fire when pressed, pets attacking after F2 skill usage when on passive, pets not able to reach target because its moving at the same speed or faster than the pet, its inability to “see” AoE and running through it, its inability to dodge, and excessive timers on skills.
Lexandro.1456:
A.) Stat infusions are not the same thing i am talking about
B.)gold is easy to earn but it takes time if you spend your gold on these items and i spend rl cash you become/stay poor while i remain wealthy
C.) the gem store has many items with slight advantages over other playersan example of c would be my mate who is extreemly wealthy who buys 200 black lion keys at a time and has every combat booster going on him 24/7
your niave if you think there is no advantage to be had from gem store items
most of them are mild and not much of a worth while advantage at all but they are an advantage
You do not get an “advantage over me” in Agony infusions because its not a competitive condition (only occurs in fractals).
Also you missed the point that it is only +1 infusions that can be combined. Those other agony infusions are static and unchanging and CANNOT be merged with +1 unfusions to create increased stats. No amount of RL money will give you more agony infusions, you have to earn them through fractals play.
So your entire premiss is way off base, and your notion of p2win is nonsense.
Oh and in response to the “every booster”, I already have loads of boosters in my bank. Even if you buddy uses them 24/7 the only time he could get an advantage over me is when we are competing (pvp/wvw) however since I also use said boosters when doing so, he has no advantage regardless of how many he buys.

And it doesn’t take 8 hours of grinding to get gold either. He is sorely misinformed.
Kyubi what do you mean?
I havent said a weapon is specific to one or another. I merely pointed out that the chaps point was inconsistent because the weapon already has a condition effect on it.
My point was as you described, there are so many gap closers and CC skills that PB shot is not as effective as it should be. The ranger is at a disadvantage without crippling/immob an opponent when using the LB due to its slow RoF. Enemies are back in melee range easily before PB shot has recharged.
With cripple attached to PB shot, it gives the LB a (small) window of opportunity it sorely needs.
I can get 10 gold in an hour running a few dungeons.
Again its not pay to win because there is nothing in the gem store that give you an advantage in gameplay. It is merely convenience items, made to make things simpler for people who want them.
And your reasoning is flawed because I am going to work and earning money, that I keep making me richer than you, as you spent money in the game to get gold that I earned simply by playing outside of work.
I have the gold and didnt spend any RL cash to get it. I am the richer one.
Its not pay to win, not even close.
Gem Store = / = Pay to Win
EVERYTHING in the gem store can be purchased using in game gold which you can earn from playing.
And on top of that getting “back” infusions is even easier now with the new gem store item for removing upgrades to gear. Which again is attainable with gold.
well as i said your entitled to your point view and as i said while your grinding for gold my rl cash will buy me an advantage over you
secondly do we even know these new items remove infusions and not just runes/gems/sigils/ect you may be jumping the gun there
and once again a gem store bought item that my whole point im not happy with thatthe gem store works fine so long as the items you buy in it dont effect game play or buy you an advantage over other players RL cash for esential items as i suspect these will become is certainly to my advantage
I know the new items removes infusions because ive used one already to do exactly that so that I could infuse a ring on an alt. And it even says so in the tooltip for it that it does so specifically. Seriously just stop on that front, you are way off base.
I dont “grind” for gold and you are not “buying” and advantage over me, because;
A.) I already have the Stat infusions
B.) Gold is super easy to earn
C.) There is nothing in the gem store to give you an advantage.
Being able to move out an upgrade and change it is not an advantage. Its a convenience, nothing more.
It already has cripple on barrage, so its not just a DPS weapon.
HS is innefective because the stealth time is so low and IC movement speed is much lower than OOC means that you dont really go anywhere in that time. Thiefs for instance can completely reposition in stealth, rangers merely move a few meters. Coupled with that is the fact that your pet is still highly visible and if not actively engaging the target will be standing next to you giving away your position, meaning the “stealth” is pointless in this instance. Ranged pets make this instance highly likely.
As for RF vulnerable stacks, that’s the price of CC skills. Anyone who does not take such a skill is easy meat. Players should be intending to force an opponent to “blow” the skill leaving them open.
Currently the long channel time, and stacks per hit means that someone can simply evade take a few hits, evade again and then use CC. Which results in little to no damage at all, particularly if said player evades around an object or out of LOS, or even simply goes past the player.
So after the recent buff to longbows, and some further gaming I still think the LB needs more work to improve it. Rapid Fire is a nice skill, but takes far far to long and should be a fast burst skill. Hunters Shot is nice enough but is ineffective in usage as it provides little time to use it effectively.
Improvements to the bow I would like would be;
Rapid Fire;
Activation Time 3 seconds. (Down from 4.5 seconds)
All vulnerability stacks applied on the first shot (Changed from 1 stack per shot)
Hunters Shot;
Applies Swiftness and Stealth to both the pet AND the ranger ( Changed from only pet swiftness/ Ranger only Stealth)
Stealth increased to 5 seconds.
Increased recharge time to 15+ seconds to compensate for changes (Up from 12 seconds)
Point Blank Shot – Applies cripple (2 secs) activated after knockback
To me its incongruous that rapid fire has a longer activation time than Barrage, when you consider that the “barrage” is firing far more arrows in a shorter space of time.
(edited by Lexandro.1456)
I believe the pet is an individual entity, because Ive noted a few times party based buffs have not carried over to the my pet. Similarly my pets F2 skills fire off and I dont get the resultant buff. I assume this is because the 5 player limit has been reached.
Also to add the reason GW1 only had WP in major cities and outposts was because it was ALL instanced outside of the cities/outposts. GW2 is a persistant world, with instanced content zones (ie dungeons).
Two totally different kettle of fish.
It would be frankly idiotic to force a player who has died in somewhere like Cursed Shore to then have to respawn several map zones away in Lions Arch, which is btw the nearest major city. The game would need more city zones added or totally new outposts zones, which is just more work and effort for nothing in return.
I added Malicious Training, Pet’s Prowess and Expertise Training.
I also added the fact that F2 always orders the pet to attack, which is not always wanted.
About bloodlust (WvW bonus for holding ruins), I don’t think the pet should get it. It’s a flat bonus and I don’t think a ranger should get double the effect of everyone else. Be careful what you ask for though, before you know it they’ll split the bonus in half and give 50% to the ranger and 50% to his pet. I rather have 100% on the Ranger and 0% on the pet.
However, should I mention that the pet does not benefit from armor tier? Upgrading your armor to Ascended does not make the pet any stronger than if you had kept it Exotic.
Of course the pet should get the Blood Lust Buff from WvW. We would not be getting “double the effect”, the pets and the rangers stats are separate. That buff should apply to both the ranger and its pet at 100%.
I would honestly advise going Intel. Ive had AMD rigs for years, and only recently gone to an Intel based system. The difference is night and day tbh in terms of performance in gaming. With GW2 im getting 30fps+ in a 3-way WvW zergball with everything on high (bar player LOD at med). It feels at times like I have a massive tactical advantage over other players because they react so slowly to me.
War is so op is laughable. Play an Ele, Engineer, Necro or Mes and see how OP a warrior really is. Otherwise you must have a badly skilled/geared warrior and even then its still not a bad class.
I have 5 characters, War is the most OP, ranger is the most UP. Everything else falls in between as “pretty good generally”.
Warrior is not OP at all. Ranger is just “meh” compared to any other class.
You linked a Conidtion Warrior build. Pretty cookie cutter, and great for duels and very small WvW.
Conditions, power, tank, even pet centric builds, all other classes do it better. There is no area that the Ranger class excels at.
This is from a completely WvW view.
Warrior is OP. I have one, its OP-tastic. Denying this is a sure sign of someone who hasn’t played other classes much.
The major problem is that half the time in any kind of combat encounter in pvp or WvW the pet is dead in seconds and your left with a 60 second timer on using it again. And the second pet dies as fast as the first one meaning you have no class mechanic to use, let alone use correctly. Combine that with pet F2 skills that have an additonal timers, and your chances of actually using a pet in any meaningful way are extremely slim. Its then further compounded by Anets insistance that Rangers skills “synergize” with the pet, instead of other players.
In PVE the issues are glazed over a bit due to the HP buff the pets got and the bad AI of both the pets and enemies.
Tell me though, does any other profession have its class mechanic completely and utterly disabled for minutes at a time? Does any other profession have its weapon damage reduced to compensate for its class mechanic? Does any other class have multiple timers for a single class mechanic skill?
And this is coming from a player who mains a Ranger. I really like the class, and was a GW1 ranger for 5+years.
Bottom line; Pets while not “broken” are so badly designed and implemented they may as well not even be there for all the good they do.
(edited by Lexandro.1456)
This again? Yet another pointless thread.
This is not WoW, there will not ever be “mounts” and the waypoint system will never be removed from the game. It does not add “immersion”, and does not make the world bigger, the usage of mounts infact makes it smaller because the map zone sizes are not large enough to utilise mounts. We can already run across the longest point of the map in minutes.
The only, and I mean ONLY thing Anet will ever add is cosmetic mounts, such as the witches broomstick. It has zero effect on movement speed, and is really only an animation change for your characters movement.
Well, I think it is quite clear that furious grip isn’t supposed to have 9 seconds of fury on a proc of weapon swap that occurs every 10 seconds if you so choose.
50% uptime is realistic. 90% is a bit much.
Tell that to warriors who can have 100% uptime of fury if they so chose.
