The lack of performance is due to having an AMD CPU. The game has known performance issues with AMD processors. Crashes are a separate issue entirely, usually caused by faulty software.
Did you try a clean boot? Without testing the game under a clean boot, its unknown if they issue is related to hardware or software.
There are a lot of people who play Ranger if the class was as broken as some of you claim no one would play it.
Wrong.
I play my ranger because I like pew pew’ing stuff from range for a change. The class is still broken, and I know it from nearly a years worth of play with a ranger. Added to that is that most players who created a ranger didn’t know how bad the class is, and subsequently changed classes.
Class is broken, those who disagree with that are in denial. Devs already admitted pets are busted and wont be fixed, what else do you need?
So no, champ trains do not need “fixing”, they are not broken. YOU are the problem for complaining about how other people play.
excuse me, are you saying everybody should just stop playing the way they want to play because the trains exist there?
they should scram, don’t tell me to move away and you have no right to dictate how i play my part of the game nor do any of the train hogs.
What? Did you read my post or just skim it? I said no-one has the right to tell anyone else how to play, when they are playing within the games rules and TOS.
That means champ farmers do not have a right to tell others to get out of the way, and AT THE SAME TIME it also means that people do not have a right to demand the devs destroy a part of the game that other players find fun just because a handfull of petty players object to it.
You don’t like how someone else is playing? Well frankly tough, its none of yours, mines or anyone else’s business how they play
“Balance” as a reason for not fixing the ranger is a pathetic excuse to be frank. Its much much easier to shave down a working OP class to a balanced state than it is to take a broken class and try to buff it to a level where being “broken” wont affect it.
And lets face it rangers are broken by the class design and implementation.
A bit short for a Norn imo. But a good effort none the less. Commander tag as I understand was set as char bound from way back before Anet decided to make changes to items. It may become account bound at a later date, it may not.
So you still got access failed/adress could not be read errors under a clean boot? Thats not good. It would point to a more serious issue with the system.
I would suggest running a check on your HDD for bad sectors, and running memtest on your RAM sticks.
You say I know nothing about coding, yet you assumed it’d take a great deal of time, resources and even the game’s updates to entirely stop to change this. You assumed that the people working on textures are going to stop working on the new Lion’s Arch to go help with this. You assumed the story writers were going to leap on board to help.
They have designated teams for this. I suggest you educate yourself on the matter or continue your trend of covering your ears and singing loudly so it no longer exists. Either way, it’s not your call to make what they spend their “valuable resources” on.
No you assumed all that. I neither mentioned it nor assumed any of it. I stated quiet clearly that coding is not easy and will never be perfect. Nothing more nothing less. You really should stop making all those kinds of baseless assumptions, it does nothing for you.
Running in a train =/= ability to dodge.
Failed reasoning there.
You obviously know nothing about coding, because changing a language filters definitions can be absolutely bloody murder at times, even when the coding is impeccable.
Again you are making an argument just to argue. Its a none issue. If you dont want chat filtered for possible profanity, turn it off. Either way the likelihood of it changing any time soon is slim to none.
I actually play the game.
People in the trains are playing the game too. Whether you agree with the style of play they have is irrelevant, they are still playing the game.
@OP; I often run the FGS train for gold/mats or when im bored. Dont often go to the QD train as almost all my chars are well beyond QD.
Human make errors, no program will ever be error free when created by a human. Its a none issue. Your making a mountain out of an ant hill. The game has more fundamental issues needing resolving.
Yet another “play as I say, or not at all” thread.
Catch a grip people, you have zero right to dictate how anyone else plays the game. No matter what way they play or how they do it, if they aint breaking the rules its none of your business how they play.
If that means players champ train, so be it. And please stop using the idiotic argument that champ trains are somehow ruining the game for new players. People CHOSE to play a certain way because they like it and have fun, not because they are told to.
Oh and as for abusive people, they are not exclusive to champ trains. Anywhere people group up there will always be one obnoxious person who wants trouble. In the game you report them for abuse, job done. Its nothing to do with people running in a champ train and everything to do with human nature and people just being a total rectum.
So no, champ trains do not need “fixing”, they are not broken. YOU are the problem for complaining about how other people play.
After reading that, could i not just infuse it with omething and equip the other ring?
Yes, indeed you can. However dont confusing “infusing” a ring with USING an infusion on it. To INFUSE a ring you must do it via the mystic forge and its recipe for doing so.
Please read here;

Your login details are the same as for here. If you can log-in here you can log in to the game. Ensure you are not trying to use your screen name as login, and are using your account address and the proper password.
Nothing, just wait. The speed is dependant on network load, your ISP & any throttling rules it has in place, and bandwidth available.
Vaporiz; Your log indicates the game cant find some files, which suggests a broken install. Please run a repair command on the games shortcut.

It looks like this game hates radeon i have i5 2500k 4,5ghz and r9 270 (1140cor/1550memory) and have 14-30 fps in la… (no problem with performance in any other game)
That’s not the graphics card, that’s your CPU causing the slowdown due to GW2 being CPU bound. The fact is your i5 is struggling to keep up with the demand that GW2 is placing on it.
I have an i7 4770k @ 4.3ghz and an R9 270x and I get 30+ fps in LA around the mystic forge. Same card, lower clocks on the card but higher frame rates, simply due to my CPU having more “grunt” than the i5.
Its not a Radeon issue, its the games crappy threading.
Ignoring a problem doesn’t make a problem disappear.
What? Its a filter done by a program, its never going to be perfect because its programmed by humans. And removing the filter is not ignoring “the problem”, it is quiet literally making “the problem” disappear.
was hilarious in GW1 when the word assassin was filtered out considering that was a name for one of the classes..
Ah the good old “I’m an ******in” in GW1, fond memories.
I know, I just making excuses to have LA nuked from orbit.
Sue me.
:p
Could be anti-virus software or another application running is interfering with GW2. To check do a “clean boot” procedure (google for guide) and try running the game.
Does it still crash?
I ran the game with 4gb of DDR2 in my old rig with no crashes so its highly unlikely its the cause.
Please run a repair command on the games shortcut to ensure the game data is correct.
https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us/articles/201863008-Repairing-the-Game-Client
Also update your graphics drivers, sound drivers and direct X software to the most recent versions.
Then if the game still crashes, please try a “clean boot” procedure (google for guide). Then run the game and see if it still crashes.
If none of this works, please attach a crash log to your next post.
Best of luck.
Disable the profanity filter in the game options.
Nuke Lions Arch and burn it to the ground please. I hate the place, its chock full of AFK’ers and extroverts who want attention 24/7. And thats just the NPC’s!
No but really, KILL IT WITH FIRE!
Give LA a kicking, move the Asura gates to………………….oh I dont know how about Rata Sum, ya know the place where they were invented? Like an Asura is going to give up a monopoly on world wide transit though its City as a main hub.
That or put the fractals gate in Rata Sum, since ya know the Asura are the ones doing the experiments in fractals “rift”. And they would want to be close to home for spare parts, new theorems and be home in time for dinner.
But to tldr; KILL IT WITH FIRE!
Say what? Its been on the Gem store twice as far as I am aware and the second time had jack to do with the living story. I bought one second time it was on the gem store with gold>gems. And to be frank I dont give a flying monkeys who else has one or if they are sold again, because its not important in the slightest who owns one.
This is Anet, they ALWAYS bring back “exclusive” (lol @ the misnomer) items for sale again later. The only “exclusivity” comes in the form of being online at the time they are for sale.
Ive mained a ranger for nearly a year.
They suck compared to almost every class in every department. Its not bad player mentality when the majority of our skills are rediculously inferior to similar skills for other classes. Nor bad player mentality that the traits are badly placed and badly designed. And its certainly not bad player mentality that our class mechanic can rendered useless for minutes at a time when no other class suffers the same handicap. And no other class has its normal outgoing damage shunted on to the class mechanic making our character weaker than every other class AS STANDARD.
The fact that it takes highly skilled players using specific builds for sPvP to make them “workable” in that mode alone doesn’t make them a good class, far from it.
No matter what way you slice it, rangers are very “buggy” because the design is flawed in its execution.
Crash log indicates missing textures causing a crash. That suggests a broken installation. Run a repair command on the game shortcut to verify and replace any missing or broken files.
https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us/articles/201863008-Repairing-the-Game-Client
Also ensure your Intel HD 4000 graphics driver is up to date.
Stin Vec, in the post to Leila, is that a – (minus sign) before the word repair?
Affirmative, the minus/dash symbol is required.
I have the R9 270X 2gb, its a bit of a beast to be quiet honest. I played Crysis 3 maxed out (1680 rez), and the only level that gave me issues was the very first with the heavy rain effects, and even then it was above 30fps. At almost all other times It was pegged at 50+fps. Which in my book is pretty bloody good. And there is more to be had from it, as the current drivers are not that great for performance yet. Beta drivers gave me a higher score in the Unigine Valley Benchmark than the current release versions by a fair chunk.
- I believe this happens only when guesting
- Same again, only when guesting as far as I am aware
- You guessed it, again due to guesting as far as I know
nvumdshim.dll seems to be related to Nvidia graphics drivers. To me that would point toward a damaged driver install. I would suggest a clean driver install with the most recent Nvidia driver release for your card.
I believe its diminishing returns your talking about, and it should not affect daily event rewards as far as I am aware.
Protect the brew shipment is not a SB pre-event. Nor is Defeat the champion rotting ancient oakheart. If the champ oak isn’t spawning at all, that’s a different problem, but neither of these are related to SB or the appearance of portals.
Its not listed as a pre-event on that page but “assisting the monastery” is required to activate the SB event. Its been like this for as long as I can remember, and its why sites like GW2 Stuffs have it noted for the Shadow Behemoth event to start. So yes it is related to the SB event, and the op is right to mention it.
Please note this page in the wiki -
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Secrets_in_the_Swamp
Specifically this note;
Sister Brenda must leave Eldvin Monastery by starting Protect the brew shipment event after defending or returning the monastery’s ale from the centaurs.
It would be better if the pets we already have worked properly first before adding any more. Or all it will be is more broke crap.
Jin try running a repair on the install, and make sure its given permission to access the web in your firewall software.
@EdCox – Please make your own thread detailing your problem with error logs.
Yeah, “amazing” in anet’s mind mean things like the sic-em change or a the LB4 change for stealth. I’ve lost any kind of faith in Anet when it comes to improving the ranger.
Most of those skins in “the toilet” have high requirements for just a skin. And to be frank there a number of skins that are just plain horrible. Pearl and Krait for instance are really really ugly. Some skins are just re-skins, like the Inquest longbow which is a recoloured mystic bow.
So to be fair to the OP, he aint that far off.
(edited by Lexandro.1456)
Gem store skins are fine in my book. Its the frankly idiotic black lion weapon vendor skins that require tickets/scraps in RNG boxes that are a problem imo.
I would happily pay for a skin in the store. I am not going to waste any more of my time or money on a RNG box that may or may not give me 1/10th of a ticket.
It always will influenced by PvE because Anet considers WvW as part of the PvE environment. The subject has be gone over quiet a bit since launch and Anet have always re-iterated its stance that this is the case.
Reverence, you could secondary bind keys 7→0 down to the z→v keys. Makes it a bit easier to fire off those skills.
Do you have “melee attack assistance” ticked in the options menu?
WvW is not and never will be balanced. You cannot create balance of the kind you desire with 50+ people at one time running around in a blob.
Only on the wiki. Its not noted (as far as I know) anywhere in the game as a stat or character mechanic.
For WvW? Tbh I wouldnt bother, and I main a ranger and play WvW most times. Better off with another class that a commander will ask for.
I am particularly bothered by this unnecessary stat name change.
We already have ferocity in game, and it has an entirely different meaning.
Prowess however, sounds a lot better as a stat name and the stat as such has existed since the betas.
I’d really like to hear a developer’s response and reasoning behind this.
Or how about “Malice”, which is pretty apt for a character who goes out of their way to hit the hardest they can. I wonder if Anet has even heard of a Thesaurus
What about bows and staffs? Yeah yeah I know, “bowbear” and all that, but still it needs clarifying if its ALL two hand weapons.
What reason would they have to only give hammers, Rifles, and greatswords two sigils?
What reason do they need? Its Anet were talking about here. They forgot that “ferocity” was already in the game, who’s to say they ain’t forgot about bows and staffs. That’s why I asked, we need specifics from the devs not generalisations.
You know the targeting system is whack when you stand a couple of inches away from a 30 foot tall dragon and it wont cycle to it.
What about bows and staffs? Yeah yeah I know, “bowbear” and all that, but still it needs clarifying if its ALL two hand weapons.
Thats not tearing, that is more like artifacting, which is a sign of a stressed graphics unit overheating. I would strongly suggest you check your CPU temp to ensure its not excessive. The model you have is on the chip, so if the processor overheats it will affect the graphics.
