First off you can not steal something you have been given permission to take. While it may be a bit of a nasty move to do something like this, its not against the TOS and it is infact the Guilds responsability to “police” its own bank and who has access to it.
Out of memory error It seems.
I would suggest going to the games shortcut properties page and click on the compatability tab. Select “windows XP sp3” compatability mode, and also tick the two boxes lower down marked “disable desktop composition” and “disable visual themes”.
This is simply flat not true. Both ATI and Nvidia have and have had for a long time ‘unified’ drivers which update at the same rate as desktop GPUs. In other words, every time there’s an update for the desktop driver version of the GPU, there’s one for the mobile version. As for compatibility between the major GPU makers and mobile vs desktop variations of the chips – I have yet to hear of any major issues at all that have happened to mobiles and not desktop variant GPUs.
Translation: In the 4 years that I’ve been using mobile Nvidia GPUs, I haven’t come across a single problem that’s specific to the mobile version of my Nvidia GPU.
It is absolutely true. In point of fact Nvidia and AMD both state specifically that mobile version of its GPU are NOT officially supported by driver releases. It is why AMD specifically has a “mobile compatability” test software to see if a mobile GPU can actually run on standard release drivers.
If you knew your GPU hardware you would know that mobile variants are often custom made for a particular vendor that very often have custom “tweaks” that preclude them from using AMD/Nvidia release drivers. This is not always the case, and you can get mobile GPU’s that are indeed compatible with release driver but they are not all guaranteed to be that way.
Its precisely why sites like laptopvideo2go exist, for GPU’s that are not officially supported by vendors but are indeed capable of using release drivers.
Translation; You have never had a problem, and are unaware that issues like I spoke of even exist hence your statement that I am wrong, which is incorrect.
In point of fact a number of system build vendors were sued because they knowingly sold laptops with defective mobile Nvidia GPU’s around 2 years ago. HP had a massive recall of a large number of laptops due to this suit. You may not be aware of it, but as a person who works in the industry I am fully aware of the issue.
And as a final note; AMD no longer has “unified” drivers, the company stated last year that it would no longer make drivers “unified”. It is why they now have seperate “legacy” drivers and current “release” drivers.

There is zero need for mounts. The game is designed around going on foot. Thats why things like the broomstick have zero effect on movement speed.
Ive had this every day since last weeks “Windows patch tuesday”. I think something in the windows update is messing around with GW2’s networking.
Yes and no. Gaming on a laptop can reduce its lifespan simply due to the fact that many games stress a system and create a lot of heat. For a laptop thats a major issues with its lack of space internaly.
In general, “gaming laptops” are a misnomer. What I mean by that is, things like the graphics card wont be supported properly with driver updates, it may not have required technology for a specific game title or it may just not be compatible at all.
The way to look at it is this; Take a look at the inside of a high end desktop PC. Do you really think laptop can cram all that inside such a small chassis? Of course not, so stuff gets “cut off” to make space and reduce the size.
A desktop will be superior in gaming to a laptop even if both have identical specs, simply because the desktop has no need to compromise the tech for heat/size isssues that plague laptops.
Some advice on PSU purchases;
- Always get wattage above what you need; If you need 400w min, get a 500w to ensure your PSU is not over taxed.
- Always buy branded PSU’s; “generic” psu are a no no, as they are bad quality and can easily destroy and entire PC when they break down.
- Double check your case type; I often hear of people buying BTX cases and an ATX psu and having problems, so ensure you get the correct one for your system.
- Spend a little extra; A quality PSU by a branded manufacturer will last longer, have a cleaner supply and generally wont be an issue to your system as a whole. If it costs a little more than a competators “cheap” range, its worth it.
Dyes are account bound, you get the dye and can give it to any alt you want.
You need to actually be there when he dies and have taken part to get the chest. If you team members had waited to kill him off till you had re-entered the instance you would almost certainly have got the chest.
Thats simple because George Lucas is a money grubbing {insert expletive here} with no real talent and one of the worst directors ever. Hell Edd Wood was a better director than Lucas is now.
That means anything with his name on will be a guaranteed kitten thats only there to milk “fans” of the franchise. I honestly mean that. If you can go watch the “behind the scenes” exerts from the recent films. It shows just how bad a director he really is.
As it pertains to the game, it means that anything with Star Wars in its title is going to be a crap and not worth the effort, because Lucas ALWAYS has final veto/approval.
If you want a star wars mmo, how about you go play SWTOR?
From the wiki;
Magic find is an attribute that increases a player’s chance to receive uncommon loot from dead foes. Magic find is applied when a foe dies; it does not apply to loot from chests, items created in the Mystic Forge, or random drops from gathering.
While it doesnt state it specifically, it doesnt affect salvage either. MF only affects drop rolls from creature deaths.
Not this again.
Dude you already made this thread last week. Serioulsy wth.
Dyes are cheap and a money sink
Ascended gear is account bound, so any alt can get one from your main
SM dungeons? Dont get your point, Ive barely done SM in any dungeon and still done plenty of exp modes on all my alts.
SM past 50? Again dont get your point other than the fact that its repetative.
Fractals? What? You can do them easily with any char of any class, hell I do them with a ranger.
Chest change is not even that big of a change for the vast majority, you just cant get 30+ chests a day now.
What alt hate or penalisation?
Are you playing the same game as the rest of us?
Sorry but not the case. Ive had exo and rare at the same time from event chests. Its just your luck with the RNG and loot drop tables.
So your guaranteed rare was upgraded to an exotic and you got another rare drop. Getting 2 rare drops was pretty common for me. I have gotten an exotic with no other rares before, so it’s not guaranteed that you had to get 1 rare. It really depends on how their backend is coded, but I’m guessing the guaranteed rare was simply flagged as a drop with a +x% modifier on it, which also meant that rare had a higher chance to be an exotic, in comparison to a normal drop.
No drops are not “upgraded”. I got my rare drop as per gauranteed, and on top of that got exo as a bonus from a lucky RNG roll.
It is gauranteed for you to get a rare. Infact since the change I have never NOT had a rare under any circumstance from event chests.
Wrong. Nothing was removed, nothing was imposed. You just didnt do enough to earn your bonus.
Welcome to the real world.
Zoef:
“My point is that ranger does both which makes the class a valuable supporting class. "
It does not bring enough support to compensate for the loss of dps. Ill budge on that conclusion if you can provide some things that you can do to keep people alive. 1 water field is not enough.
Fern wolf/Moa F2 = AoE regen
Dwayna runes 6/6 + troll ungent = AoE regen (which is better for the ranger btw than waterfield since troll and regen stack ^^).
Regen on condition trait = character who can walk through almost everything to rez a party member
Some people are just not creative enough.
Its not a punishment no matter how many rediculous strawman arguments you make. Punishment by definition means;
Punishment (also known as discipline or penalty) is the authoritative imposition of something undesirable or unpleasant on, or the removal of something desirable or pleasant from, a person, animal, organization or entity in response to behavior deemed unacceptable by an individual, group or other entity.
Not doing dailes is not a punishment. Seriously go get a job and try claiming not getting a work related bonus is a punishment. You would get laughed out the bosses office.
Rangers dont need a waterfield to do AoE healing. Dwayna runes 6/6 means troll ungent will give AoE regen. Fern wolf f2 also gives AoE regen.
I think this thread pretty much sums up whats wrong with people running dungeons. They dont know other classes, what traits do what, and instead listen to nonsense from haters of X/Y/Z profession.
And demanding that players use X or Y skill, when they very well may have specced for alternate skills is a no no. You have NO right to tell anyone how to play the game, nor how they make the character they use.
Extremely elitist thread.
The guaranteed rare had a chance to “upgrade” to an exotic, making the rate of exotic drops higher, or at least, I’m assuming that’s what it did, since you could get an exotic in place of the rare.
Sorry but not the case. Ive had exo and rare at the same time from event chests. Its just your luck with the RNG and loot drop tables.
I knew it would happen eventually, it was the only real solution to the overflow issue, other than server bound~ but if you can still get the chest with alts doesn’t that mean you can still farm more rares/exotics from them? You just don’t have a 100% chance after the first time?
Pretty much. 1 guaranteed rare, eveything else RNG. Wont stop people farming the events anyway, since its the easiest place to get a precursor.
RNG dragon timers is just plain stupid, fullstop. Just leave it alone it will never happen.
Some people really need to learn the difference between a bonus and a punishment.
Dailies are a bonus.
Not doing dailies is not a punishment, your just not getting your bonus.
If it was really a punishemnt then you would have X number of gold or gear REMOVED from your account for NOT doing the daily.
So basically a big “SCREW YOU” to people with alts. Guess i’ll just go ahead and delete my alts, there is literally no reason to have them at this point.
Can’t get ascended gear for them-> Check
Can’t get any loot at all for them now->check
LOLWUT?
Talk about over-reaction and hyperbole.
<has 4 chars
<Only played for 5 weeks
<Has 4 ascended pieces
You talking nonsense dude.
If your system physically powers down, you have a system fault. Does the system restart itself? If not then I suspect a PSU failure is imminent. If the system restarts, then its likely a BSOD.
Cute… Then after the guaranteed rare (why don’t give us directly 1 ecto or 22 silver instead? O yes, because that way we need to buy Black Lion Salvage Kits… And btw, good move nerfing the ectos drop from kits, now it can happens to exotics don’t even give one ecto.) the chest will be back giving loads of useless green and blue crap.
Good move ANet, good move.Sighs……. no nerf was done to the ectos… why do people keep spreading these lies… They have started if they ever touch the ectos they will definitely tell us. Sometimes, I pity Anet on the player base they have to work with…
Salvaged one Exotic piece with Black Lion Kit… Got 0 ectos, when earlier exotics gaves at least one of them.
But keep buying evething they said
Its all RNG, you just got real lucky before. Ive never even used BLSC and still get plenty of ecto with just master kits.
As for the people complaining about the change – All thats happened is the “gauranteed” rare is now a “daily chest” reward, the same as fractals or a dungeon. Not a biggy at all.
The game also features Milla Kunis. Thee single most over-used female voice actress there is. Not that she is bad or anything. Just gets idiotic hearing “meg” in every bloody game there is.
I really really hate how a pet on passive will still decide that it simply must run across the battle to my target and attack when I have used its F2 skill, even though said F2 skill is a buff and not an attack skill. Royaly peeves me off no end.
I have it on passive for a reason!
And whats with the wonky code in pet pathing and following? Half the time my pet ends up 5 feet in front of me, rather than beside me. And they run around stupidly in straight lines.
I really like pets, and rangers (Gw1 BP ftw!) but the pet mechanic design and code is highly flawed.
Boon striping – fine
Boon striping to cause damage – fine, if a little anoying
Boon Hate – doing extra damage per boon on the target? Dont like the sounds of that one little bit. Has the potential to be extremely OP against classes taht are supposed to be “booned up” to be effective. Plus what the hell is with Anet? Why are Thiefs getting more work again?
How about, ya know maybe fixing other classes that need a lot of work and are consistantly told to gtho of parties? (rangers/engi). Ya know two whole classes that are consistantly ignored and belittled?
Don’t forget about the daylight saving time.. +1 hour. The server has not changed to reflect it. This could be the reason why you seeing the reset as it is.
^This. DST went in to effect in the US. Some times are going to be “out” until the other places follow suit.
Sounds to me like an over eager AV software scanner interfering with the game download. Try disabling any AV or firewall software before testing the game again.
They do both, which is what all almost all developers tend to do these days. One team on bug fixing another on additional content. SOP in developement.
I’m guessing that a lot of people don’t know the numbers that pop up during Rapid Fire is actually the accumulating damage of the skill duration, meaning it just adds the damage from the previous shot(s) with the current shot and shows the total number, not per-hit damage. Greatsword auto + Maul come really close to the damage you deal with Rapid Fire (don’t forget bleed from Maul).
Edit: Of course, I maybe wrong. Further testing is required.
You are correct that rapid fire is cummulative damage, with the final damage number the total damage done with the attack. Simple watch the combat panel and you see the damage stack up.
However its also true it can hit for 10k, without zerkers gear. Ive done so many times against numerous bosses. People forget that ranger gets a base 20% crit damage from traiting alone, and with a fairly high base power (2.5k) rapid fire can easily strike for 10k when timed correctly with LB#3.
I stand corrected. However my point is still valid, elites for classes are locked from selection underwater and some dont have replacements.
Thats deliberate market manipulation, something that should never be an option. If prices trend downward, that because of market forces. Interfering with that would destroy confidence in the market itself meaning less people actualy doing RMT.
Your elite skills are not locked out, you need to select them when you are underwater XD
Wrong. Some elites can not be used underwater and are locked from selection.
Your underwater skills are available to you.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Underwater
“A player’s skill bar changes when swimming and when entering underwater mode. While on the surface of a body of water, no skill slots are shown; a player has no skills to use but is still vulnerable to attack. Upon going underwater, a new skill bar is brought up as a player’s aquatic weapon is automatically equipped. Each weapon provides class-specific skills for use in underwater. Players can also set different healing, utility, and elite skills for underwater combat. Skills which can’t be used underwater displays a crossed waterdrop in their descriptions.”
Bolded the important part where you missed exactly what I said. Some elite skills are locked from selection underwater. You dont get “unique” underwater utility or elite skills. The only" underwater skills" you get are weapon skills.
Creating an entire map where a players choice of elite skills may infact be completely unusable is bad design and should be ignored as an option.
(edited by Lexandro.1456)
Your elite skills are not locked out, you need to select them when you are underwater XD
Wrong. Some elites can not be used underwater and are locked from selection.
Rangers are in line for an update yes, Robert Horuda already alluded to it. But as far I am aware its a range of possible updates not just the GS.
No never, because underwater combat is broken in so many ways. Elite skills locked out, major targeting problems on land are worse in the water, 3D nature means its much harder to act as a “team” properly, and the effects themselves make it even harder to spot who/what/where is attacking or is a target.
Um what? Someones taking the mickey out of you methinks. Rangers already have greatswords. And the underwater dragon rumour is infact a glitch with the map boundry allowing a player off the map. It just so happens its a “dead zone” with an inanimate dragon model.
First suggestion is a better CPU. An Athlon X2 doesnt have much in the way of gaming power, I should know I have one also
If you want the cheap option just replace that with an AMD quad or better around the 4gz region. The more expensive option is to replace the motherboard and cpu with an intel setup. My preference would be an I7 cpu/board.
Second suggestion is new GPU. GTS 450 is a decent card but there are better available. Which one just comes down to how much you want to spend on a card.
Third and final suggestion is an SSD drive dedicated to gaming. It makes a major impact on load times compared to standard disc drives.
Its unreasonably to demand that Anet now change a fundamental part of the games equipment system to suit you. As I said the prefix changing was only added becuase new prefixes were included in Nightfall that old armors didnt have. Since thousands of players had spent lots of time and effort in GW getting things like Obsidian armor, it was an issue they resolved by allowing prefix changing.
There is no such issue in GW2.
Oh and btw those prefixs in GW1 DID cost and arm and a leg in game gold, particularly those for cookie cutter builds. By comparison the system in gw2 is much much cheaper. So again claiming poverty is a nonsense argument, as its easy enough to get the cash for mutation stones.
No Anet wont change it. No they wont use your idea.
I dont do laptops to well, but that Lenovo is way better than your current Acer.
I would estimate a fair chance of medium/high settings with frame rates in the 50fps region normally. WvW or “zergs” in general however I have no idea, but it would definately have an improvement.
The game wigging out on state changes between land/water and me swimming around with my hat on.
Ive done what you described many times, that is cutting off the scout early. I now do it as soon as they speak as standard. Ive never had an issue on my display as you have, though I have an ATi card (its old).
I havent seen an Nvidia user post a similar issue, though its entirely possible they have. But as I said earlier my money is on the GPU/drivers. Intel HD graphics are known to be problematic at best in games though they are getting better than they were not so long ago. I know its a pain but I really suggest a driver update check.
Best of luck on finding a solution.
No sorry but your wrong. The sale of mutation stones would nose dive over night if there was a way to change prefixes for free. Thats were the vast majority of its sales comes from. It would kill the market for them.
And stating that 80 silver is expensive is frankly ludicrous. I do not spend any real money on gems, do not sit and farm the game over and over non stop, and certainly dont horde gold either since I am always skint (sub 50 silver per char). Yet I can get 80 silver in a heart beat in the game. Do any high level dungeon or a fractal or two and you will get more than enough to cover costs of mutation stones.
I see what this thread really is. Its bashing something in the game to “bigup” you own idea.
Again you can change prefixes at any time, day or night on any piece of armor. Only requirement is a mutation stone which is cheap to buy.
Hell I have 3 “fine” spare in my bank vault, plus around 8 or 9 normal ones.
Not expensive in the slightest.
Animations isnt the problem. Excessive (particle?) skill effects on screen is. They could all be static but the sheer number of effects is one of the main culprits in the slowdowns. THe current culling system is moronic to say the least. It “culls” people and AI’s around me so I cant physically see them, but it doesnt cull skill effects.
You can see it every Dragon event. Loads of people are culled, but performance is still crap because everyone, his mum and the family dog is using skills and all the effects are still shown.
I aint holding my breath on the “end of culling” thats for sure, particularly now that anet can say its all out fault (since we apparently control it) and ignore problems with it if they chose.
Re did this again with my guardian at lvl 50 and some other higher level chars and finished path 3.
Didnt change my mind on it that much. Spider queen is still does to much AoE damage with the poison rings, gravelings need to be toned down a bit on the stun attacks, and the path 3 boss fight is idiotic.
Relying on AI behaviour to beat another AI’s behaviour is one of the dumbest idea’s yet. Sorry, but its true. The idea behind the mechanic in itself isnt bad (create bubble>save party), however leaving it to an AI unit to chose when to activate is the moronic bit.
Simpler and much MUCH better way is to leave it to player control. Make the AI drop a device or create a device that the player activates to create a bubble. A simple spawn command for a toggle device and bobs you uncle. Ai can still run around like a lunatic and be a buggy mess but now its not at the players expense.
I am shocked actually that this was overlooked or ignored. I mean, how could you miss such an obvious flaw and such a simple fix?
You can get fine stones from BL chests for free. I have done so myself using keys from the personal story. I have also bought 5 via the gem store with in game gold. It is not expensive in the slightest.
Again, the feature of changing armor prefixes is already in the game. If you want to do so, spend game gold on it there is no need to spend any cash.
Gold>gems exchange>gem store>job done
If there was a “free” way to change prefixes on exotic 80 gear, no-one would buy mutation stones.
Argument is invalid.
