you can resolve the problem you if you go into stealth you continue to be affected by Rapid Fire?

That’s not a “problem” or bug, its intended design. RF is a channelled skill, and is designed to continue to target the enemy once activated even if they enter stealth. Its one of the very VERY few things Ranger LB has going for it.

@Devs – We Rangers need a LOT more than a couple of frankly nonsense “tweaks”. The Ranger hate is getting out of hand, and is starting to severely impact players ability to to do the content. Rangers are consistently treated as a dead weight in any team oriented content.

It’s gotten to the stage now where the vast majority of the player base is now shunning any and all ranger players regardless of build/weapons/pets they have. On top of that Rangers are blamed for every event failure to the point where vitriolic hate is spewed at them for no reason.

Enough is enough Anet, get your finger out and fix the class.

Yeah this game has already broke one mouse for me with the sheer number of clicks. I made the mistake of buying a lot of orrian chests with karma and got a boatload of karma items back. By the time I clicked em all my mouses left click had become unsprung. And it wasn’t a cheap mouse either.

The game desperately needs a “use all” option for stacks of consumables. The fact that the devs keep ignoring this is one of the reasons people are dismayed at Anet’s approach to so called “quality of life” updates.

Right this minute is a prime example of what’s wrong with these types of event. I have not been in my main server for the marionette event for 2 days now. I joined Lorner at 3:20 pm and I am thrown in to an overflow. That’s 40 mins before the event even starts outside of prime time and I cant get in. On top of that no-one in my guild of 500 people is in either.

Its frankly ridiculous especially as it has a 2 hour timer. Atrocious design.

Lexandro.1456

To me GW2 feels like a game that’s still not finished yet.

I would think that an MMO that felt like it was finished would be a bad thing.

Thats a content issue you talking about. Im talking about a perception one. The UI layout and recycled icons, the “missing” emotes, the rather pathetic amount of skills available to the classes (compared to gw1 proph at same age), and all the needed QoL changes are the kinds of things Im talking about. Oh and all the clipping problems, performance troubles, server issues etc.

It gives the perception that the game has only just come out of beta and core “features” are still to be implemented (lfg took how long?).

Good to know, had not got that updated news yet on Gigabyte. To be clear here, the 280x is a good card when it working. Sent out 2 working ones myself, but had 3 failed ones from 3 vendors (MSI/Sapphire/VTX) within a month. Plumped for a 270x myself though, just because it was cheaper. 290x are nice but are very loud when pushed, and the Nvidia lineup in the same price range is the better option, particularly with GTX Titan black and 790 ready to drop, causing price slashes.

You missed my point: I have a midrange pc and very bad internet connection BUT no lags or fps issues at all.

Er no I didnt, Its just nothing to do with my point whatsoever. The game has issues on AMD cpu’s, well documented ones that the devs are well aware of.

And AMD FX cpu and 7870 gpu with 8gb ram is a mid-range gaming system. Extremely similar to the hardware in the Xb1 and PS4, which are certainly not high end PC’s.

A high end PC features SLI/Crossfire with triple monitor setups running in 4k resolutions with an Intel CPU (or two cpu’s / board dependent).

Big events that require a big group of players should never have a timer, especially when said event last 20 mins and the timer is 2 fraking hours. A quest chain that opens the event, ala CoF dungeon would suffice without needing people to sit around for hours at time to get in an event.

An hour and a half wait for 20 mins of fun is something that should be frowned upon in game, let alone and MMO. Its honestly as if the devs in this game have OCD, and cannot envisage any other way of doing it. And to change it would make them freak out.

Developers need to realise that not every idea is a good one, and just because they spend hours doing something doesn’t make it a good idea. That’s why its called development, not production. You are supposed to try new things, and mix it up till you find a good blend of options. Not copy paste the same trite event methods all across the game.

Development leaders really need to start using the word “No” more often to force them to go back to the design table

If graphical anomalies appear in any other title, its a sure fire bet its an issue with the system. I have the 270x myself and I am very happy with it. But its never shown me any artifacting or anomolies. Even on high stress games like Crysis 3 with maxed settings.

It really does sound like its a GPU issue to me. Personally I would rather just have it replaced asap, as I have had similar issues in the past with defective hardware. Troubleshooting parts that are defective from the factory is a nightmare, and I dont envy your current situation.

RMA it and then at least you will know its not the card in future. Remember that when RMA’ing you do not have to provide evidence of the issue. The vendor is legally bound to give you an identical replacement at no charge for a suspected defective product.

10% would be seriously OP. Thats much higher effectiveness than healing sig for warriors, which is already a problem. A barrage and rapid fire attack would give you way more healing than the standard healing skills on a much shorter cooldown.

And we already have a feature in the game for that with life steal, which can be added to any weapon.

Ranger?

in Ranger

Posted by: Lexandro.1456

Lexandro.1456

No it wont because a good thief with CC, re-stealth and either gtfo or circle around and backstab you. And Fyi your pet at this time is dead and on cooldown so there is no way to use it. Stone Sig doesnt do that much to help, it adds a minor toughness bonus. A good thief will never allow himself to be trapped, because with shadowstep skills its extremely easy to disengage or reposition.

But lets be clear here, the pets are nothing but a liability. Players like myself already know how to game without a pet in tow with rangers from GW1 were a pet was entirely optional. Touch Rangers in GW1 went down a storm in PvP, Running Rangers were called on just as much as warrior runners for Droks runs.

We at the mercy of our Pet AI for damage potential in combat.

But were are all in instances already in dungeons, fractals, LS zones etc. Even the world zones are instances in themselves, due to game design of portaling between zones. Its not a true “open world”, in that sense. The issue isn’t due to the instances themselves, but the lacklustre nature of the map zones. Many of them are simply a PITA to navigate, or feature silly invisible walls or have designs that are off putting. Those kinds of things make a map zone highly unappealing to the wider playerbase. But that is a separate issue with MMO’s of all kinds, where lower level zones are low population once the game has been out for a while.

It still doesn’t preclude instancing for special event bosses like Teq or Marionette for dedicated teams or guilds.

GW1 wasnt every good at informing players HOW they moved across game worlds. Countless times players would be asking how to get to Tyria or Cantha. But yeah Proph had a much reduced population with factions and nightfall releases. However even when those were not released yet, the instanced nature of the game made it feel like it was emptier than it really was.

Its why Camadan became known as Spamadan, because so many people flocked there to chat and team up. Along with the usual suspects of sellers, bots and guild recruiters.

That would not happen here because we have open world maps. Even with the additon of instanced zones for special events it would not make the other events “empty”. We can see this with Teq currently. Numerous players who do Teq battles have moved on to the triple trouble event. However Teq still has plenty of people available to take it down in certain servers. Ofc some servers will have issues due to low populations but they have that now anyway, even with open world bosses.

It would give Anet a great excuse to merge some lower pop servers together, and provide those servers with the numbers of players they want.

@OP

Don’t bother with a 280x, there are major manufacturing flaws with those cards in circulation atm. It will take at least 6 months for those “bad” cards to be taken off the market and replaced. If you are going to get a card, either buy a 270x (which doesnt have the manufacturing flaw) or buy an Nvidia card. Either way 280x atm are an extremely bad choice.

“high end pc”
I run the game on a 400 € machine and with a very bad inet connection. Still I have never had any drastic fps (constantly below 24-30fps) or lag issues (position resets, disconnects etc).

Everything else you’ve said may be true but this particular point is BS.

It’s not BS, GW2 is not optimized for use with multi core PC’s, especially AMD processors. I have a brand new system just built, FX-8320 oc’ed to 4.4ghz, and a 7870ghz edition graphics card with 8 gigs of crucial ballistix elite ram. Any other game on maximum resolution with supersampling and AA enabled, over 60fps, this game in an open world raid…8..maybe 10fps at best, on 50/15 internet. The game is very poorly optimized for any PC not running an intel processor, and the reason being is intels single threaded performance is 20-30% better then any AMD on the market right now, but that should not be a reason why a user cannot play this game, its laziness on the part of the devs to actually program the game for better usage of multi core processors and optimization for use with AMD processor technology.

Hate to break this to you. but that aint a high end pc. Its mid range at best. In point of fact its nearly the same as the Xbox 1 or PS4, neither of which are “high end”. My i7 rig is better than yours by a fair margin and even it aint “high end”.

But you are correct in that GW2 has horrible performance on AMD cpu based systems.

The reason no-one does the invasions is simple; Anet nerfed extremely hard. They enforced staggered waves, which makes a fair bit harder than it was at release. That combined with the loot nerf makes it less appealing. Plus Scarlet has the hots for my characters and wont stop gimping me to death every time I do an invasion so I dont bother anymore.

And I don’t do Orr because its frankly ugly as hell. Its kitten brown tone is a real turn off for a game that has some really nice zones.

Neither of which is to do with the QD champ train. So your “evidence” is false.

Wrong.

I play my ranger because I like pew pew’ing stuff from range for a change. The class is still broken, and I know it from nearly a years worth of play with a ranger. Added to that is that most players who created a ranger didn’t know how bad the class is, and subsequently changed classes.

Class is broken, those who disagree with that are in denial. Devs already admitted pets are busted and wont be fixed, what else do you need?

it’s not about how they play but where, they should go to lvl 40+ places where they can’t ruin the beginner experience.

Wrong. You do not get to dictate where anyone plays. Neither do you get to dictate how they play.

And how exactly is it ruining the experience for new players? That’s a ludicrous argument already proven false by the fact that new players join in the train and have fun. Or don’t and have fun doing something else.

and how do you know that new players are having fun, any evidence to support that.
oh wait, you don’t….

Actually yes I do know that new players find it fun, because I actually talk to new players. Our guild is always open and welcomes new players almost every single day. Plus I have gone on the QD champ train numerous times and chatted with new players in the train. They are new and have the whole game to explore and play. If they didn’t find it fun, they would not be there.

if chasing a train is fun in your world then it’s probably a boring world you’re living in, i would like to play the game in a more fun and immersive way.
but if the train is more important then having fun then go ahead, make the game nothing more then grind and grind some more.
you say it your self, no one can dictate how you play, that you’re among the masses that will bring the game down is not your concern, you are to stubborn to realize the problem but i can’t dictate how you play no matter how much it’s a problem.

First of all what someone else finds fun not for you to say. Some people like taking the numbers of trains or plains and find it fun. Its not my idea of fun but they like it so thats all that matters.

The champ train is not a problem and you are the stubborn one for refusing to accept that someone likes something you don’t.

And I laugh whole heartedly at the notion of the “masses” bringing down the game. Total hyperbole and failed reasoning. If the “masses” are doing it, the game aint getting brought down because its got a playerbase playing content. What would bring the game down is elitist cliques trying to ruin parts of the game for other players because they (the elitists) object to it.

Again for those who don’t get it;

You, I and any other player does not get to dictate how, when or where another player plays the game no matter how, when or where they do it. As long as they are not breaking the TOS, its none of your, mines or anyone elses business, period.

You don’t like it? Tough.

However your last bit of info on “blue and green textures on NPC’s” to me indicates an issue with your graphics card.

Please do not take this the wrong way, but you are not very skilled with computers yes? If so I would strongly advise you take the system to a qualified repair store and have them take a look at it, showing them the crash issue with GW2 if possible.

queensdale is empty most of the time because the trains make it so, remove them and you see it fill up with the players that are suppose to be there.

Any evidence about this?

Queensdale is always empty (along with other starters). The train is actually the one making it “populated”.

Indeed. The starter areas in most MMO games are empty because, (shock horror!) people have moved on with the character to other areas. The fact that people are in QD farming means that new players are able to meet up with and play along with higher level players and get a look at how they might want to play, or not as the case may be.

I guarantee, nerf the champ train and QD will be dead overnight.
