I never stack on ac, its obviously always situational. But alpha is one case where stacking in pug is recommended from my experience.
You cant expect pug to dodge something like alpha cause he attacks too many times. Yea sometimes your pugs will be good have good dps, but many times they have those silly builds that i mentioned. Then corner will be your friend. All I’m saying is, be prepared when u’re puging for anything and sometimes that corner stack can be time saver.
The thing is if your pug is getting slaughtered on the open field against alpha, chances are they will get destroyed in the stack as well. Alpha doesn’t automatically do less attack when in a corner.
The thing about stacking is… people saw few speed runs or world record on youtube and think that this can be applied to random pug.
The reason why they don’t stuck on alpha in coe for example is because they freaking drop it in 5 second. Just to lure alpha to corner would take u 5 second, and they have 0 reason to do that.
This logic cant be applied to a pug. The other day I get some tryhard wannabe that don’t wanna waste 5 second on luring alpha. But in our pug team there is staff necro and condi ranger. So when people start dying, instead of pressing f to revive them I have to run to where they dodged and revive which loses time. But if we were dodging in corner I can just rev without walking around.
What people here seem to not understand is why those speed clear teams don’t lure some of the bosses. They have insane dps, they swaping sigils for encounters, they are always on high cookings, they run meta builds, they know perfectly what to do etc…
If u need 5 sec to drop alpha, obviously why would u waste 5 sec to lure it.
But this all is not case in pugs. Pug don’t even have ascendants or exotics. I know guy who run dungeons with green back piece, not even rare. Encounters like alpha can last 30sec up to a minute depend how bad luck u get. So yea u better lure that alpha in corner when u puging, or don’t pug at all. What angers me sometimes is when people use some really stupid weapons. Like staff necro which is not so uncommon. I don’t understand how can someone be level 80, and not understand what are their weapons used for. I mean staff is obviously an aoe condition control weapon. Its autoattack is abysmal, most of skill just do useless things in dungeons like chill, poison etc… and most importantly don’t use it on one single target… Now those are real problems to me, and not some silly wasting of 5 sec to lure something.
But you are wrong if you think the reason speedrun don’t stack is because boss burn down quickly. Take AC for instance, the final boss can be killed in an average pug on open field for every single path, I have done it many times with pugs yet some of them insist on stacking it. COE alpha can be done in the same manner, dodge appropriately and dps the boss, in fact I would say that stacking for most of the bosses are usually detrimental to the team since the aoe attacks will always be concentrated on all 5 people. The healing from the elemental does not matter as well if you keep the boss poisoned or you cleave appropriately.
I think you are interpreting more deeply than neccessary, basically they will have to make it easier for some people to get into the dungeon facet of the game. They may have to create special systems, or filters or whatever for that purpose, but if it increases dungeon participation and satisfaction without reducing the current community, or alienating them, its worthwhile, in my opinion.
Nerf all the mindless farming to oblivion, then maybe raise the rewards for story mode, and you’ll see people far more willing to learn dungeons. The game has encouraged them to be lazy players, and lazy learners, and there will be no place for them in dungeons until they realize they need to shape up.
Kind of an odd thing to say, if stacking and mashing “1” is pretty much what you will do half the time in dungeons.
Ever wiped on Fyonna? Yeah, me neither. There isn’t to say, that there aren’t more crunchy fights in between, but finding groups for these paths (like CoE p3 or all of HotW) demands alot more patience, which pretty much nullifies the aspect of speedclearing for profit/gold per hour.Even in dungeons…no, ESPECIALLY in dungeons, ppl also tend to go for the easiest way, because it’s more often than not the fastest.
At any daytime, i have no problem finding an AC full run group, for example. On the other side, mashing “1” or AA/AFK at some more demanding open world PvE content, like tequatl gets you killed pretty fast.
But sadly, such events are rare. There pretty much is only tequatl or jungle wurm…
“stacking and mashing 1 for dungeons”
Ok this is the part where I know that you do not know what you are talking about.
Here is a fun facts, all the “stacking” that pugs do are the opposite of effecient, in fact its the other way around. The "easy " and “lazy” way are probably the slowest and is not a speedrun at all.
Another fun fact is you can afk press on 1 teq, I have done it many times on my ranger, just camp lb from a distance and mash 1 np, people won’t notice a difference since there are like 100+ people there.
I still take berserker to teq because it still has POWER as the main stat so it does as much damage as PvT and everything is easy as kitten to dodge anyways, no reason for me to waste money on other gear just for a fight when something else works just as well. Also people forget to mention that the battery sections where you defend is better to have beserkers, so i would say fighting teq is like doing a dungen, do as much damage while dodge stuff. Again no need to bring pvt at all.
If it makes you feel better, people have been banned before for simply buying stuff off the vendor.
That was abusing a bug, that would have caused market instability.
Yes because buying stuff with karma and selling it to vendor for a couple of silver is soo abusing bug and going to cause market instability.
That cost much less than other karma items, people knew what they were doing.
If you actually thought about how stupid it sounds to ban people simply because they were being smart with their money by buying the stuff off a vendor that is cheap and was implemented by a dev then you would know how stupid it is to be defending the bans for such a thing.
Also to expect a player to know something that is priced a kitteneaper to be a bug is also laughable.
EDIT: why is a " kitten E A P E R" censored?

and its a joke that hasn’t worked fine for lots and lots of people as well.
more people in this thread seem to think that it’s fine than not. Why aren’t these lots and lots of people here complaining then?
Because this thread indicates the population right?.. This thread has simply be bombarded by the white knight crusade, nothing more.
and there are plenty of people like me who has been playing a long time and know that the default bank space is a JOKE.

The battles are definitely easy mode, they rely on gimmicks to pad out the boss fights.
We have such an amazing combat system yet Anet wants to throw that system away in favor of running around in circles like an idiot. Why not copy dark souls for boss design?
Zerker not that good?.. what?
Are we playing the same game?
the ONLY way to make Zerker less viable is Nerfing it or buffing all the other stats ALLOT.
i mean i don’t think there is any way to balance Fights where zerker is less effective.
Lets say you make the fight hard for zerkers and thx to this ALL the other builds are even MORE weaker on that fight. i mean if those zerker players who block and dodge perfectly at the right time dies fast what chance a Soilder Knight Clelic have ? they will survive ONE extra hit befor die while doing waaay less dmg ?
On the contrary, it’s quite easy to make fights where Zerker is less effective. Tequatl and triple trouble husks are both examples of where Zerker is not top dog.
On a better note, look at PvP and WvW. Zerker is rather unpopular in both because the risks associated with using it are much, much higher.
so basicaly the only way to make them less usable is to make every single boss in game uncritable ?.
thats bad in my opinion there needs to be another way.
As long as crit chance/damage exist as raw damage multipliers there is no other way. It’s a bad mechanic anyway, remove ferocity and crit chance ability to create extra damage, crit chance may remain but not as a raw damage multiplier but rather stat to trigger effects, make power more important then it becomes easier to control dps and dots potential. Of course the condition cap is still here but it’s not like propositions haven’t been made on that.
Its also a good way to butcher thieves and mesmer with that change. Those classes NEED zerker to even do any respectable damage, all other gear stats will result in them being unable to fill their own roles.
You know whats even more cancerous than turret engi?.. the turret engi players telling the top players who go to tournaments and win games to l2p LOL. Alot of top players want the build gutted but hey keep thinking you are more skilled then them with an auto pilot build.
TOP Players think that you’re( as part of average/mediocre league) are not GOOD enough to beat, outsmart a turret engi and in this they’re 100% correct.
One of the main reasons why Abjured win is rotations, a concept that the majority of solo/PUGS ignore, therefore turret engy dominates at average levels.
You talk of outsmarting yet how come the people who play turret engi do not need to outsmart anyone, they can faceroll their keyboard and achieve results. Also, don’t bs me with “hur dur turret engi do have to think”, I main an engineer and have played every build for a reasonable amount of time, turret engi is by far biggest auto pilot build, I can literally program a bot to play the spec for me while I go watch TV ( Not saying I have but I can easily). You can argue with me about balance all you want but in the end of the day, turret engineer has no right to exist in a competitive scenario.
they should buff the scaling of healing power to begin with
and remove Ferocity as a stat from the game. and make crit dmg 150% baseline.also
ALLOT of traits for allot of classes need buffs or TOTAL reworks.
Not sure if serious…
Why would he not be? He’s absolutely correct. Ferocity is one of the reasons that Zerker builds are the meta. And healing power is currently pure garbage.
Zerker is only meta in pve, his solution would completely butcher the other game modes. Not only that some class depends on zerker such as thieves and mesmers because its their way to do effecient damage, if the crit base was to be implemented then those classes would be gutted.
Not long if you follow a guide and purchase the mats off tp.
The best way is to not do anything else but craft if you value your time at all.

Alot of the builds are usable actually, it just depends on the situation.

The health of pvp in gw2 has been pretty bad ever since the dawn of time. The mode is broken to the core and it is not worth fixing from the grounds up. I could write an essay as to all the missteps when it came to the development of this game mode and how it has failed in pretty much aspect but I have already done something similar in the past and its just not worth the effort.
Reflect is important as it does make alot of fights easier but I am 100% positive if they removed every single reflect spell from the game, zerker meta will still be dominant. Only thing would change is that mesmer would become necro tier.
People can already solo entire arah paths and yet there are still doubts about if its possible to solo champion packs in the open world? LOL
Necro has the lowest dps for dungeons, its already been calculated ages ago.
Not exaggarating, my speedrun guild has ran one cleric guardian on many occasions to make the zerkers life easier. The guardian can
Yes, but that is a specific profession. And therein lies the crux of the problem.
If a boss does, let’s say, consistent 500dmg per second to everyone before toughness. That would have a wildly different outcome depending on each profession.
A warrior with zero toughness, vitality or healingpower on gear could still outlast that in full zerker. But a full zerker Ele would be dead pretty quickly, because the Ele has less consistant healing, less toughness to mitigate damage and a much smaller healthpool to last on.Professions were not made equally. If I take an Engineer, give half his gear toughness as one of the stats and the other half of his gear vitality as one of the stats. That engineer still has less armor and less health than a full zerker Warrior who has zero of either toughness or vitality.
Just to give one example. That is the sad reality behind one-shot mechanics, they don’t discriminate much and thus allow everyone to just go full damage. Dialing these back in favor of more consistent damage will only result in the following.
Profession A can do the content with full zerker, while Profession B is forced into t/v to get the same level of sustain.
And this causes Profession B to now also fall behind in damage because more stats are spend into not dealing damage.
The end result is, screw bringing Profession B and only bring Profession A. At least in the doctrine of Perfect Pugging that some people subscribe to.
You do realize a guardian has as much base hp as a ele right?.. yes they have more armor but that is to be expected from a heavy armor profession.
Also ele can be built to sustain and face tank monsters, the reason they don’t do it as well in a pve setting compared to a guardian is because guardian provide more team support in dungeons, it isn’t survivabiltiy that is the reason why cleric or cele ele is not used.
For a comparison, a celestial ele is almost as tanky as a cleric guardian hence why pvp meta has celestial ele as the main bunker role instead of guardian. Alot of the team support that guardian provide in a pvp environment isn’t as necessary compared to pve environment.
EDIT: I think I missread your post, you are correct in that a zerker ele has a hard time sustaining compared to a zerker warrior which is why zerk warrior is considered the easiest profession to play out of all the classes. The problem with your line of thinking is that zerkers aren’t meant to sustain hits, warrior are naturally tanky so they can but most other classes cannot. Thats where player skill come into play, knowing how to dodge and time defenses. A zerk ele can still survive fractal 50, its just not easy.
(edited by Lifestealer.4910)
Thats funny because last i checked a cleric guardian can facetank fractal 50 bosses that would otherwise 1 shot a zerker player TWICE if he has two lives.
Think you might be exaggerating that a bit.
Fractal 20 maybe but 50 ? Most bosses & a decent number of the mobs there tend to r@pe you there no matter what gear you have on unless you evade most of their attacks.
Not exaggarating, my speedrun guild has ran one cleric guardian on many occasions to make the zerkers life easier. The guardian can pretty much stand in front of mossman or archdiviner and facetank every single hit.
One of our strategies for Mai Trin is to have a cleric guardian out there tank and burning off the shield stacks and keep aggro during barrage phase while the rest of the party stealths on the other end to wait.

Can’t go wrong with engineer, its the most fun class with lots of depth to it.
Why do people blame the tool when it is misused?.. Do you blame video games when someone plays it and then decide to go on a rampage in real life like what the fox news tries to portray?…. No, the blame is placed upon the person who is doing the wrong, just like if someone uses the dps meter for something toxic, he should be accountable for himself alone, the entire tool shouldn’t be to blame considering it has many beneficial uses.
I was running around doing my own thing one day when I encountered this beaut. Does anyone have more screen shots? For instance wielding the weapon in the shadows? It is a bit expensive, but man this thing looks good!
Thats probably one of the most terrible looking axe in the history of mankind.
I have to agree here, the bank slots this game gives is abysmal. For a B2P game, one bank tab is just a huge rip off. Not only that, they designed the game so that every alternative is a huge chore. Having an alternate guild bank storage sounds fine at first until you realise how poor it is to stack items onto the tab, it takes way too much time then is needed as you can’t simply drag an item onto a stack, nope you have remove the item from the guild bank and then stack it on the item in your inventory AND THEN put it back in the guild bank.
They also made sure that the loot system bombards you with insane amount of garbage to the point where throwing them on the tp or salvaging becomes even more of a chore and then you basically need a salvage o tron or else you be stuck with even more annoyances having to buy stacks of salvage kits every 30 minutes.
As you can tell this was all a business decision to push people to the gem store.
Then they lied when they said they were going to fix it.
It is definitely subjective, no doubt about that tho I would argue that there are data that would show that most people would say games like league are better. Personally for me i like to look at games from a gameplay perspective. Gw2 imo is a good looking game but when you start unraveling the gameplay mechanics behind the classes, boss fights, pvp objectives, wvw objectives etc.. they are extremely shallow and some mechanics are outright broken, especially on the PvE end.
I can understand people being turned away by the community of mobas but for me, the toxicity is actually what makes the game even better. Don’t get me wrong, i am not a toxic person, but the uncertainty that you would get into a team with a bunch of angry Russians which will start complaining randomly is what spices things up.
I am pretty sure it does not take this long to simply give us back our animations.
Pay 2 win thats why, make all the mats have ridiculous gold cost to give incentive to people to buy convert gems to gold.
In the case of GW2 i have found that the community here is somewhat of a bastion away from what has become of most of the gaming community- People here are decent, nice, and helpful quite often.
I have come back from a 2 year break and this is my second week. I have had people guide me to vistas, volunteer on lowbie story mode dungeons, and of course, answer my noob questions.
Even more- people in gw2 are likely to be “light” roleplayers, not going full on roleplay but rather acting in character as select times to increase overall immersion.
In contrast- my 2 years spent in WoW a while ago i found a large portion of the playerbase to be like zombies, some of which didn’t even seem all that happy about what they were playing yet ran several raids per day. It got real awkward before i quit, i remember i could confront with 100 players in a day and not socially interact with a single one.
On a broader note, games in general i.e H1z1, Dota 2, Rust, Archeage and a number of first person shooters are filled with toxicity- trolls and people who find that yelling and spamming and just generally being annoying is entertaining. Quite sad.It is my opinion that in its current state (as its clearly been updated over the years) Gw2 is by a large margin the best all around game that i own. The fact that its so well polished and that they spend the extra effort to add social stimuli to the game i.e the harp, the bobble head thing ect- shows that these developers are EXTREMELY active and caring about their product- and i think that love for their game spills over into the community.
It’s hard to believe that a game which is 3 years old is the best one i own but Arena net has really stepped up.
P.s. Havent seen a single bot! This used to be a MAJOR problem, glad its fixed!
No, great games don’t inspire great communities. Case in point are games like LoL, Smite, Dota2, WOW, diablo 3 (post patches) and etc.
What inspires good behavior and good community are game mechanics that encourage good behavior such as ones in GW2.
Those game’s are not really all that “great”. Sure, the Moba scene is a fun one for many people but they are more like indie titles without much depth. The substance of a Moba comes from how simple yet complex its basic game mechanics can be. The items and item recipes can actually be completely removed from the genre and it still works (HoTs).
World of Warcraft on the other hand – now you have an argument. I can’t really say that its not a great game. But my overall opinion which would take several pages to write would state that for a sum of all its parts and design decisions, Guild Wars 2 far greater than WoW. And you’re right, the Gw2 dev team seems to have taken major leaps to promote a good community. And i’m glad its payed off.
Moba don’t have much depth?.. you kidding right?.. there is a reason why they are considered E-sports while this games pvp is considered a laughing stock. There is more mechanics to master and just things to learn compared to Gw2 brainless spamfest.
Gw2 is pretty much forgotten by the masses, while a game like league has as much people playing it as the entire Xbox live which is saying alot.
League and dota 2 are probably the greatest games of all time, surpassing gw2 by a HUGE margin.
(edited by Lifestealer.4910)
I played many games that I considered the best of all time to have not so great communities. League of legends being a prime example but the toxicity from the other players is part of the reason why its so fun.
The problem isn’t too much loot, the problem is salvaging them is a time consuming and a hazardous chore. This is even worse if you do not have a salvage o tron which means more time spend buying stacks of salvage kit while trying to manually salvage 1 blue at a time. Lots and lots of clicks needed just to salvage junk item since they couldn’t be bothered to release a salvage all feature.
Its gotten to a point where I feel like I have carpel tunnel syndrome having to click so many times.
Are people really surprised that magi or cleric builds do less damage than full berserker?…
Yes it does less damage but you can run the exact same trait setup as a zerker and still get things done, just slower and risk free.
Releasing a class to be OP is intended to get people to buy the expansion. Once the sales die down then they nerf the class to “balance” it.
Most “top” pvpers already macros jump and dodge anyways so I doubt it matters.
With no target lock on the engineer grenades are garbage.
Not sure if serious…
I wonder how people will feel if I use “casuals” as a insult to people.
They still played better than the average GW 2 playerbase…
The rewards for anything is completely lack luster when compared to the zombie farm.. I mean silverwaste.
A boss using lots of CC isn’t going to stop people from going zerk, it will just make a zerk guardian more mandatory. If the bosses did two hits instead of one then a zerk hammer guardian would be even more mandatory. Meta comps will adapt with the professions and not with gear.
If a guardian is not present then the zerk party will simply bring as much dps as possible to burst the boss down, ele with ice bow deep freeze can ensure that the boss is brought really low if not dead within the CC duration. If Anet made the boss have too much health than the non-zerk parties will take an unreasonable amount of time to kill the boss which isn’t going to help either side.
So really the solution you make isn’t going to solve anything, no matter which way they do it, zerk will be meta. That is unless you make mobs like husk who are only vulnerable to conditions but then you really are just trading one damage gear for another. People always praise about how silverwaste discourages zerker but that is not true. Zerker in fact is still the most optimal way of dealing with all the silverwaste mobs except the husks.
Elementalist is the easiest class in pvp actually, but that was before patch, idk if their skill floor was raised after the “nerfs”.
Lets face it, the only solution is segregation of the community. Anet tries to clump people together who all have different mindsets and goals. From my experience, this never ends well no matter which game it is. Anet needs to provide better tools for people who want to find other like minded individuals to play with instead of trying to force people to play together.

There is build diversity in guild wars 2, even for dungeons. People have solo’d arah naked, it can’t get any more diverse than that.
