Ehm, no. We got enough sexyfied armor in the game already.
Too many female heavy armor has to glorify the womans body.
It`s something that is fun once in a while, but how about some more practical ones?
Without holes in the armor to show off legs, etc…

No idea what you’re talking about with heavy armor. There’s not NEARLY enough good looking heavy sets that aren’t just big bulky hulk armor. There’s exactly ONE pair of shoes for heavy gear that has high heels, and that’s the Phalanx set. I DEMAND MORE UNCOMFORTABLE FOOTWEAR!

It is heavy armor after all. Check here: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Human_female_heavy_armor

Just by skimming through I can see:

- Grasping Dead
- Gladiator
- Barbaric
- Pit Fighter

which are borderline to be even considered armor. Flamewrath from the gemstore is light on the armor part too.

oh wow a grand total of 4 skimpy outfit vses like what?.. 100 non skimpy ones?..this game really needs to even things out. MORE SEXY OUTFITS!.

Some people don’t need to remodel their ingame character to resemble a h***er to enjoy the game. I actually enjoy the fact that most outfits fit their designed theme (aka heavy being HEAVY).

and some people do like to model their characters as sexy as possible, this is why most people play female characters and why the t3 cultural armor for light and medium are so popular.

That would be a long list but here is some people have picked up on the dungeon section: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/gw2dungeons-List-of-harmful-dungeon-bugs-1/first#post4938627

There are still others that aren’t listed like lupi spawning illusionist instead of swarms or him hitting you with ranged blast while you are meleeing him.

Release a bunch of “bugs” to the dungeons and make it impossible to complete so that people can’t run them and make money off them which means people get poor and are forced to buy gems.

You REALLY need to look up what those numbers actually mean. I’ve been PVPing (world PVP, wargame PVP) for over a decade, with a ping of over 200, and have always been completely OK. You only start to get issues at pings over 400-500 or so.

You think you are completely ok because you are used to it, it is all you know. Little do you actually pay attention to all the times where the 200 latency end up screwing you over. Most of the people who makes a switch with latency would know.

Back in league on NA I played with 250 ping and I thought it was ok too, I was like you and did not know how detrimental it was, some champions were outright unplayable, basic mechanics like last hitting would never be perfect no matter how good I was at last hitting etc. But when I made a switch to oceanic server, I started to understand the difference.

*sigh* back down too 1g again.

Impact, what impact? Who is this guy anyway?

Because a bunch of people follow them, so when ever they stream Gw2 it gets bumped to the front page of twitch; this + the thousands of people following them is good publicity for the game.

(Note: I never heard of nay of these guys before this, nor do I follow them)

Oh i understand that much. Publicity is good but my point was that his “impact” is like a tiny rock thrown into the Pacific. Some nice ripples where it hits the surface but then it sinks anyway.

You really underestimate how big it is to have someone single handedly bump up the games viewer count up to the top page of twitch. Twitch is the biggest streaming website in the world and many games have been made popular by this site alone. Its also a reason why microsoft was so intent on buying it for billions of dollars.

What are the “so many things” it broke where you can laugh about it?

And I love no matter what Arenanet does there will be those who are negative to them all the time.

Again, look around the forum, I really do not want to repeat myself over things that people have clearly stated over and over.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Lifestealer.4910

In a typical boxed expansion, the majority of the repeatable content is in the form of dungeons/raids. Generally for a $40 expansion you will get 8-10 dungeons with 8-10 additional hard modes, and 2-3 raids. These dungeons are generally what keep people playing the content as they search for new gear and master the encounters…

In a fully optimized run, people swap out traits and weapon for every encounter and that should be enough.

Difference between PvP and PvE philosophy

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lifestealer.4910

Lifestealer.4910

The reason is simple

Firstly, you need somebody to stand on point which means they will need to soak up alot of damage.

Secondly thieves and mesmers pretty much invalidates most of the zerker builds in spvp. Most zerker builds from other classes will be torn to shreds by these two classes because they are the king of the zerker for instant gap closer and near unavoidable damage.

Wait… wait….

Are you… I don’t even… are you seriously implying, that PvE in GW2, as a matter of fact, Dungeons, in GW2 are hard / on the same required skill level as PvP/WvW?

They are all easy. I used to pvp alot and yes it was challenging at first but as I learned the meta, the specs people play and how they would react to certain things, it wasn’t hard to win fights and matches at all. I then went to WvW and realise its probably the biggest joke mode in terms of “required skill level”, just massive zergfest and most of the players are awful, destroying people in a 1v1 while roaming was seriously not hard at all because as I said most players in WvW aren’t really good.

Good on you, but that doesn’t make it true.

Thats funny because what you say about dungeon being corner stacking and pressing 1 is not true either. So i guess my point that pvp is about afking as turret build is as valid as yours.

And that brings us back to page 2 of this thread (or somewhere around there), that gear doesn’t matter, cause PvE is supereasy.

As opposed to sPVP where you’re rewarded for failing…

I’d love some elaboration on this.

or WvW where you’re rewarded for gathering in a giant blob or not at all.

Blobbing up is a way to play, yes, but there are different types of gameplay styles in WvW. Some require more skill than others, and are way more effective than blobbing. Generally the unskilled or people not really wanting to put in effort blob up. I recommend trying roaming.

Sure, PVE is pretty easy if you’re just trying to complete it, but at least you have to be successful and in dungeons/fractals your contribution matters has a pretty large impact. In general i think it would be fair to say that GW2 is supereasy.

Uhm… aren’t dungeons stack in the corner mash 1? With like little to no chance of dying, ever? Or glitching through stuff, or skipping half the dungeon with invis, or always going for the cheap-o semi-exploits (eg.: lupicus half health gone with 1 reflect)? I do not want to offend dungeon running people or anything, but “knowledge” mostly boils down to 1 guy saying “stack here”.

As for Fractals, I guess some may find those difficult, I don’t really. And I’m a guy who has been resetted from lv 58 to 30 and went back up to 50 again.

^ this guy lol. have you even played recently? yes almost all engy builds are weak to condis but there is one that can survive for several minutes vs condi opponents, can you guess wich one it is????

prolly not xD

Seems interesting because you do not know of one either. Otherwise you would have listed it. How many hours do you have on said build? How did you fare with it yourself?

Actually his right, turret build is the most resilient to condition. Turrets aren’t effected by condi and the engineer himself has extremely high health which can easily stall long enough to make use of healing turret multiple times per engagement.

Also it was obvious, he did not need to list it. But I guess obvious is not so obvious to some people…

In his defense, it’s not a simple yes/no answer.
Yes engis are susceptible to conditions. Not all condi builds can take on a turret engi 1v1. The better condi players can but it can take awhile.

You’re all right in a way, here’s a waffle #<(‘-’<)

The real question is which condi build can actually take on turret build?..

I have personally played the turret build and it certainly does not lose to condimancer, terrormancer, condi ranger, condi engineer or condi warriors on point. In fact I would go out as to say that necromancer in general would get completely demolished by turret build most of the time.

Condi engineer is also not much of an issue, all it takes is one lucky rocket turret knockdown while their elixer S is down and its GG for them.

So that leaves condi ranger which I think would fare better than the other two classes, the thing is does the typical meta condi ranger bring enough stability to even fight on point for more than 10 seconds against an turret build?

If we were go to zerk builds I know that zerk staff ele is definitely the biggest counter, but thats only one and its complete death sentence to play that build in 99% of the matches because of thieves and mesmers. Zerker lb rangers and any warrior builds are usually easy to deal with as a turret engi. Even if lb ranger is pew pewing off in the distance, all i need to do is make use of reflect bubble rotation to not only protect myself but also apply lots of pressure onto the lb ranger. Warriors pre nerf even played by some of the top players couldn’t beat my turret build at their home point so I doubt now they fare any better.

This is all from my experience which completely differs from what the forum says about turret engis “weaknesses”.

I dunno, I tend to get Rares I can use fairly often.

Rares that get salvaged into mats are not “decent drops”

So define “decent drops” because I had enough Rares drop through World Boss tours (especially Teq) to kit my Warrior up when he hit 80 and before I could get Temple Armor.

Yes, that includes weapons. Three sets.

Define “decent drops”. If you decide to put it as “exotic or rares worth X gold”, you’ve lost me already in understanding how to use “decent” as a descriptor.

There are still people that gears up on rares!?!

If you’re not playing for fun, then why play?

Oh please don’t tell people how to play….

OK lets get serious here. They can do whatever they want. If they’re playing and they’re not enjoying it (having fun) there’s something broken somewhere. People do all kinds of things for all kinds of reasons, but if they dont’ enjoy it and only want the rewards that’s pretty massively dysfunctional.

As a designer, It’d be disheartening to see players saying that, even knowing that that’s a known factor in some MMO players.

If you’re playing from loot obsession, how you play doesn’t matter, and the designers shouldn’t really try to please you.

Of course I don’t believe what he says is really right, I was at a talk at GDC today (on buying games you’re not gonna play) and the very first thing the presenter said was that there’s a huge gap between how players describe their behavior and interests and what those behaviors/interests actually are.

Edit: This is important too, toxicity gets thrown around a lot in these discussions, but the ‘not playing to enjoy myself’ attitude is a truly poisonous. That thought process is inherently incompatable with good discussion, except in the base level ‘how do we exploit this weird obsession for profit?’ kind of way… And I hope Anet uses that kind of thought process as little as possible in their design.

People don’t play MMOs for “fun”, its all about the carrot at the end. The MMO genre were birthed from the ARPG genre which is all about the end reward. Gw2 tries to be different by saying that we should enjoy the content for what they are. Problem is the games content is not that enjoyable or immersive just like 99% of MMO on the market. Most involve doing mundane tasks over and over. The only way someone is going to enjoy doing that is to get that carrot at the end. After all, loot obssession can be another sort of fun, otherwise games like diablo 3 wouldn’t be so popular.

Max direct damage will likely still be the go to unless Anet radically changes current and future content to punish players who rely on proper positioning, dodging, and active defenses over passive stats and face tanking.

and why would they do that?
why would they change it from rewarding good players for being good to rewarding bad players for being bad?

that doesnt make any sense and is beyond stupid.

Because an encounter with multiple strong solutions is more interesting than an encounter with a single overwhelmingly optimal solution. It’s certainly not easy to do, but it’s a worthwhile and important goal.

On the bolded part, the kind of thinking you’re expressing there is very basic to why this is difficult to discuss. It’s applying almost moral values to a design decision.

It really depends on what Anet wants for their challenging instanced content. If they want to make the dungeons more forgiving for new/bad players then buffing tank gear or making it relevant into the meta would meet that end. If however they want make content so difficult to the point where every mistake is instant death then they have to balance things with zerker, which means every other spec would be left in the dust.

I’ve offered ways to actually fix turrets. But I’m just trying to stop the ridiculous “kill it with fire” approach, because I’m sick of seeing builds being trashed over massive tear waves.

The thing is for a build like that, there is only either “kill with fire” or “rework it into something almost completely different”, I honestly don’t care which approach they do because knowing Anet, they love AI and probably will do neither.

I like how people keep trying to bring up “counters” in this thread when others just do not want this build to exist. Look, even if I was most pro player in the world and can beat every turret engineer 100% of the time, this build should still be gutted. It has no business in a pvp environment, a pure auto pilot build that can be run by a bot program and still be effective.

Also alot of “counters” people list are quite laughable even, ranging turrets down with lb as a warrior?.. because those turrets can’t hit you right?.. or the engineer can’t hit you still right?.. and how long will that take?.. the match would be over by the time you destroy all the turrets with your pitiful longbow damage.

First, that’s not even close to how a Hambow kills Turreteers. Secondly, this is a perception issue. You don’t like the AI (semi controlled even), tower defense, “trapping” style of gameplay.

Well, I don’t like instant teleports, high unrealistic mobility, insane burst from auto attacks (via sigils), multiple evade frames built into attacks or stealth. But at least I’m realistic enough to not go around saying “this stuff doesn’t deserve to exist ever” because lets face it. If we ‘gutted’ everything that someone could build a strong argument over for why it shouldn’t belong in PVP there’d be one build and one class.

People overstate the damage and CC factors of Turrets. For example, engineer rifle does 40% of the engineers total damage for example, not many realize this. Or that every CC the turreteer has is triggered, none are passive, but people still think or say it they have too much passive CC. The only truly “passive” cc is if you’re standing DIRECTLY on a turret you kill. But according to everyone, they’re impossible to kill, so you tell me…

It is not a perception issue, this AI isn’t “semi controlled” it is pure auto piloted. Every other competitive pvp games has the player controlling 99% of the AI’s behavior. In guild wars 2, turrets are a place and forget spell, you just place them randomly on and around a point and they will do the work, there is no effort involved. Such a build would of been instantly gutted in any other serious pvp games, either or reworked into something that actually takes more player interaction.

They will adapt like they always do stop thinking they need training wheels pve can be challenging as well. Can a 100% pve player tell me what is your comfort zone???

No, I’m saying that pve players expect from pve something else than pvp-like gameplay, e.g. bigger numbers, usually only one boss fought at the time, winning most of the time (instead of ~50%), etc.

#fail

Challenging group content huh? Can a dev confirm this is the direction the pve in this game will take so we can stop trying, just end it now and be honest.

I prefer challenging content as well that focuses on individual skill but over the past few years Anet clearly wanted PvE to be faceroll which is why the only major contents are the ez mode living story and the “challenging” world bosses with quotation because If I call zerging with thousands of people while afk watching TV is challenging that I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night.

I think it’s all but explicit. PVE is meant to be accessible, if you want the upper limits of skilled play PvP was always the intended route.

There are ways to make things accessible without removing any sort of tension in them. When I go to a world boss or even the new silverwaste, I am in no danger whatsoever. The chances of death is almost zero percent because every thing is done in a way so a person who is partially afk can still faceroll everything.

In PUGland, that’s what people do. Alot.

I remember, when i started arah a long time ago, people wanted me to stack on crusher.
You can imagine, how that turned out.

Stacking is generally the best strategy for spread-out trash mobs, that you can’t skip. There’s always some corner/pillar or whatever, that breaks the line of sight nearby trash and if you aggro all and stack around a corner, they’ll eventually stack up as well.
So, what’s faster: Dealing with each elite one at a time or cleave down all at once?

There are ways to pull the mobs together without corner but you are right in the sense that we can’t really expect the pugs guardians or mesmer to pull mobs together when we need them to.

My point however, is that there are not many situations where it is good to stack even in pugs. Yes stacking for elites is fine but alot of bosses like crusher for instance don’t need to be stacked at all. I would guess about 5-20% of the time where corner stacking is used in a dungeon path.

High survival Profession ?

It really depends, in general warriors are passively tanky and can take more hits than every other classes. There is more to survival than just stats though, for instance thief are generally squishy especially for high level fractals but can be extremely durable when soloing certain dungeons due to invigorating precision + pistol whip keeping their health pool at full almost all the time despite taking hits. Not only that, they can keep mobs perma blinded essentially removing any sort of risk against them.

Guardians is also a good example of a class with crappy survival stats but is deceptively durable with blinds/blocks/aegis/protection etc…

Are you saying pve should be a walk in the park or some kind of daily grinding ??? I didn’t mention open pvp in pve nor npc trainer mobs. Elaborate on your statement I don’t understand … You want pve to be a tag along spam fest please explain .

Stop making outfits!!!

i dont see any reason that speaks against releasing it as outfit + armorsets

That’s because you don’t understand how their armor mesh/models work. Neither do I, in fact. So I just have to believe them when they say it’s a lot more work to make armor than it is outfits.

“more work” is not an excuse to cut corners and be lazy as a corporation.

But you are wrong if you think the reason speedrun don’t stack is because boss burn down quickly. Take AC for instance, the final boss can be killed in an average pug on open field for every single path, I have done it many times with pugs yet some of them insist on stacking it. COE alpha can be done in the same manner, dodge appropriately and dps the boss, in fact I would say that stacking for most of the bosses are usually detrimental to the team since the aoe attacks will always be concentrated on all 5 people. The healing from the elemental does not matter as well if you keep the boss poisoned or you cleave appropriately.

Alpha is kind of a bad example of stacking being detrimental, because it actually helps. Some of his AoEs have minimum range, which you then don’t have to worry about and with everyone’s cleave, his crystal prison is trivial if everone’s sticking close enough to each other to be within their weapon’s cleave range.

You also took my previous statement out of context and prematurely assumed, i meant all bossfight’s in every dungeon/path.
Please don’t do that, thank you.

why are almost all the builds unusable

1) Phalanx Strength is not a requirement now, it only makes sense in parties that can’t maintain 25 might without it. Usually that means the party doesn’t have a S/F LH Ele.
2) Of course it wasn’t a requirement 8 months ago, the trait was introduced in April 2014, so it’s only 10 months old. It takes a bit for people to learn the new meta. Also, it’s not a requirement now, so you’re doubly wrong.

All the zerker dungeons that I’ve seen recently, ALL of them had one phalanx warrior. It made its way into the meta and is staying there. And the only place that I’ve seen people even mention an ele was level 40+ fractals and ascalon. Ele is not the meta in EU.

3) Before PS, Greatsword was one weapon of choice, with Axe/Mace being the other set for vuln stacking. There was also an Axe camping build which was roughly comparable, I think? In Phalanx Strength builds, you tend to camp GS even more thanks to Forceful Greatsword. You seem to imply the opposite.

but you only take one Phalanx. Any more damages your DPS. Before Phalanx greatsword was the weapon of choice of every warrior. It was the meta.

The only class in this game that can spam abilities is Thief. Everybody else has cooldowns. So yes, DPS suffers if you only use a single ability combined with autoattacks.

Staff or scepter ele (having a choice of 20 different buttons you’re pretty much working without CDs as you’re just rotating trough your strongest abilities) and bomb engi (place a bomb when you dodge, place a bomb when you crit, place a big bomb when it’s off cooldown, you’re just rotating trough stupid amount of bombs) would be only a few examples of spammy builds.

If PvE players understood the game better, I’d be more supportive of them coming up with builds. Sadly, in your post, you’ve illustrated the exact reason why meta builds are important. Players, in general, have a very poor grasp of how the game mechanics work. There’s nothing wrong with looking at the best of the best and attempting to mimic their ideas.

They don’t mimic it well, meaning that with a no brain power needed meta majority of players are performing worse than without it.

The only reason phalanx warrior made into meta now is because of the dps nerf to warriors gs skills. They do pitiful damage no matter which build they use so the meta switched for them into a banner + alternate might bot.

You do realize that the majority of the PvE community uses Berserker and you’d have to be some kind of moron to believe something as stupid as this. Just compare the price of Powerful Blood to other t6 mats. EVERYONE uses Berserker because it’s good. Simmer down and learn how to play, buddy.

A good player with any armor can outplay a bad player in zerker. All Beserker is is a crutch for lousy players.

A good zerk player beats a good “insert” any stat player here. All pvt/knight/cleric/nomad.. etc is is a crutch for lousy players.

Is it Botting, or exploiting?

You won’t get banned for afk and farming at the sametime as long as you are not running a bot program.

You read through the thread? Many people saying the opposite (even with examples, threads from banned players, and dev comments)

I am pretty sure devs said it wasn’t bannable unless I missed the comment somewhere.
