And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
I didn’t think we were asking for new content… just a dev post in a thread.
Make you’re own godkitten party. Godkitten. Wtf. Write words on the freaking screen. Problem kittying solved.
Prediction: it’s account bound and exclusive
December 2014: spend 50$ on gems to get the exclusive Llama mini pet ! Spend 10 to get the exclusive green Llama backpack!
:)
It should be an awesome revamp for entire dungeons and fractals, cause u should make a good party for survive and for do it in a good time, we should also see a nice support spec and a full zerk guild should be ever playable maybe with traits and/or different utility… so everyone will can play differently… but ever as they like, its just another dungeon game mode, i really hope to have it!!!
Bingooooo.
But also
No. You can’t play how you like if how you like is berserker in this situation. At least now you can play whatever the crap you want.
Personally I like it. But it might cause problems for people looking for groups, like having another thing that divides the dungeon runners in game might force people to be waiting longer for groups. But otherwise I like the idea.
I’d love to have this so that we can see that the downed/dead berserker did more to kill the boss while up than the noob clerics did the entire fight. That would be great to see.
And yeah let’s just give another thing for the casuals to cry about on the forums “kicked from lfg because I had no end dungeon stats screen waaaaah.”
No. No. Kitten no. My mind brain can’t do it. No. No no no no.
….canceled… 87% sure.
Lilith a question, about outfits. The gem store ones such as ancestral/cooks outfit/etc.
a) Are we allowed to use them?
and b) If so, will we be penalized for using them as they can be of relatively low effort/customizability?
a) Yes.
b) There’s no penalty but there isn’t really a benefit. Unless you have a party of Halloween RPers. That might be fun. hehe. You want every party member to be as fashionable as they can. If the option is, look crappy in bad armor choices or look decent in an outfit, definitely go with the outfit
Lili is my favorite…
Your guardian rocks though he should have them all. Hehe
I bought the heroic edition on my EU account and upgraded with the 1k gems to deluxe and got 2 of the armors. Pretty awesome if you ask me. Sorry it stinks for you though
Necro new meta. That’s the real exploit here.
^^ I like it. How do we decide which dungeon?
Dragonite drop need to be nerfed. I get so many of these things, it’s unreal. The drops exceed even the Bloodstones.
This is so false. What are you on about?
We’ve got people in this thread who talk about being swimming in dust, saying how the fragments are easy enough through dungeons, but are struggling with dragonite. I know a person in my guild who has been running out of it as well, yet has no issues with the other two mats.
I’ve a lot of Dragonite as well and have deleted my fair share of it, but that is only because I’ve chosen to not make lots of ascended armor because I hate the cloth money sink. But I’m still able to recognise the disproportional rate you gain it compared to the other two mats, largely because of megaservers and the issues they’ve caused with Orr Temples.
Most of us who’ve been playing since the start of ascended gear have a lot of it saved up from before the megaserver change. So this “lol, I have so much, nerf it plx” is being completely dense to the rate of acquisition post-megaserver.
I must be playing this game right, because I can get one stack to upwards of 2 stacks of Dragonite (on a really good day) per day. That would be triple the amount of Empyreals and Bloodstones that I could get. I’ll put it in actual numbers so you can understand more clearly:
Typical day
Dragonite – ~250
Empyreal – ~100
Bloodstone – ~100So as you can see, Dragonites are too common.
I’m not sure why a smart person like yourself is unable to understand that for some other people’s play dragonite is not easy while empyreal is in abundance. I mean… just because it’s fine for you it is actually possible it isn’t okay for everyone. You get that right? You’re very smart. I know that. So… yeah
Yay! How much did you spend? Congrats.
I have a question: You said no more than one piece of cultural armor. However, Destiny’s Edge is equipped only with tier three armor. I have a ranger with three pieces of (transmuted, of course) tier two armor and I was wondering if she could compete. So is all cultural armor not allowed or just tier three.
Ahh haha yeah. T3 I meant ^^
Now what would go into organizing this? If it’s in our hands, what can feasibly be offered as prizes? We obviously can’t offer legendaries. Or precursors. But I know I would donate little minis and gem shop things similar to how anet does it. But I don’t know how to make it into something big that I’m not controlling (my fashion challenges don’t really attract the kind of crowd this kind of thing deserves). Any ideas on that?
I guess we should have qualifiers too though. So we could have 3 rT teams, 2 DnT, an SC, another dungeon guild team, and an underdog team (like team RP) and have them do it as a match. It would be fun !
In the long term that would indeed be the goal, but we may have to size down our fantasies if we ever want to achieve anything
Let’s start with a “test” run comprising 2 teams and then we’ll see how much attention this attracts.
Of course a test is required. But I’m talking about if it succeeds. It would be nice to attract anet and have them actually pay some sort of attention.

I felt a little uncomfortable with some of the questions. Seemed very weird. But it’s for science I guess.
Uncomfortable is a word for it.
I can’t consider my characters independent, thinking entities, or as myself, but to me it is impossible to play one for hours and not develop any sort of attachment. I spent time and effort on them, so I gotta like them, right?Yeah I feel the same. If someone hacked me and deleted just my main, nothing else, not even her gear, I would be heart broken. But she’s not an entity or sentient or anything like that. Weird.
and desade you’re breaking my heart!
?
Was kidding. Lol

Hm. I was thinking along the lines of a full dungeon tour. Or half of one, 1 path per dungeon and it would have to be a speed race. But we would have to disallow fgs and anything else that gives an unfair advantage to a particular class. I think most people would find it difficult to have character slots for the story modes. I dunno.
Are there any thoughts on how this could be run? After seeing the pvp one… I feel like we should show Anet how one could be handled (ie, we run one ourself). Maybe something combined with gwscr or something?
Looking for ideas and some brainstorming.
DnT invitational info:
Death and Taxes [DnT] is proud to announce The Death and Taxes Invitational, the first competitive PvE tournament. Eight teams of five will compete for the fastest, smoothest dungeon runs in a competitive environment on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at a time convenient for both NA and EU players.
First prize will be 500 Gold to the winning team and additional prize support will be announced moving forward.
The Format
The teams will be paired up before each round for a best of three path contest, and one randomly selected team will have the right to pick which path is run first. Their opponents will pick which path is run second. If a third path is required, Death and Taxes [DnT] will pick a dungeon path. The two teams will begin their dungeon runs simultaneously at an appointed server time, which the runs broadcast live on Twitch.tv. At least one member of each team must be able to live stream the run in order to participate.
The dungeon runs themselves will be regulated and timed according to the http://gwscr.com restricted rule set.
In addition to the Guild Wars Speed Clear Rules, a defeated player may not resurrect at a waypoint, and may not be resurrected by his teammates. Should a player be defeated, the remaining 4 must complete the dungeon. Should the last member of the team be defeated, or point in the dungeon be reached that cannot be completed with the remaining members of a team (i.e. only two members alive for Shaggoth in Arah Path 1 or the Brazier puzzle in Citadel of Flame Path 1) that will be considered a “Wipe.”
As long as the team that is still alive is able to finish the path without wiping, the finishing team will be given the win regardless of time. Should both teams wipe, the game will be considered a draw and will move onto the next path. If both teams wipe in the third path of the match, the team furthest into the dungeon will be considered the winner.
The Teams
Teams will register with 5 members and one optional alternate. The registration will list the account name of each player and the profession that player will be playing. Players must run the same profession they register with throughout the entire course of the tournament. The alternate player can fill in for any player on the team and may play any desired profession.
This will promote a risk reward proposition between an “all around” team composition that can tackle all paths of every dungeon and one designed to sacrifice utility for additional offense. The alternate will allow creative teams to tweak their team compositions to their advantage.
Registration
The tournament will be by invitation only, however we are soliciting for interested guilds or teams. Guilds may fill multiple teams if they have sufficient members. Any interested guilds or teams may register in the registration thread on the Death and Taxes forum. http://dtguilds.com/forum
The 8 invited teams will be announced on June 21, 2014.
Members of Death and Taxes will be excluded from participation in this tournament.
Questions or Help
Should you have any questions regarding any aspect of the tournament, please post them in the official tournament thread on the Death and Taxes forum.
If you would like to donate prize support (gems, gold, precursors, legendaries) please contact me in game, my IGN is ‘Nike’.

…
That there stack eh… that’s an exploit dontchyaknow?
Do I spy an excuse to spend loads of gold on characters I never play, and or play dressup with guildies?
Also can we low man the dungeon?
Good question. I’m going to go with no less than 4 players ( and if you are missing a fifth I require a story about how the fifth died a horrible death like Snaff)
Haha
He died of Jormag’s Breath.
XD
People downvoted it on reddit. Wow. Lol see guys I told you reddit hates me.
Your party would surely have an unfair advantage
You know it would xD
Now big question! Fractals included?
Of course!
I am intrigued by the idea o.O
And to be honest, I kind of want to 4-man just so I can come up with something interesting about our 5th.
:DNow to find fashionable friends… I suppose ur not available for this Lilith? xD
Your party would surely have an unfair advantage
Also i already own every armor set in the gem store… so I can’t give myself a prize! Haha
I might run one for funsies though

I just also want to say that people SHOULDN’T carry unfashionable friends through this run
@OP
Great post!! Even if that goal for some people isn’t a Legendary, having an in game goal is a great way to maintain interest. Some other tips for “end game” would be closely following the lore and stories within the game its self. Just talking to NPCs reveal a LOT of insight to Tryia and how it works. Talking and listening to the NPCs during a DE can be vastly amusing. (Recently came across a DE and had to escourt a Priory group to explore a shipwreck and find Orrian artifacts, the leader was all serious about it, but the rest of the party just wanted to relax and have a drink. The party moaned and whined the entire time, and at the end, ended up finding a cask of a rare beer, irritating the leader, and the rest of the party celebrating.) Also some goals could include learning to solo a dungeon, or a fractal. Or gathering all the skins in the game, etc. There area a bunch of fun and rewarding things to do after level 80. Just having a goal helps break the monotony a lot, and keep you coming back.
Edit: Also check out the community events sub forums. Theres usually somethings going on in the world that are fun. Lilith also does some really fun things, like fashinable dungeon runs where everyone wears pink, or something. She has several threads about events shes doing. Or you can start your own event. Like a Norn dancing troupe touring Kryta doing shows, or somthing.

lulz. Anyone want to summarize what he gets wrong?
Possibly breathing. I hear that’s difficult.
Hello all!
Please message me in game for prizes!
My next challenge is a fun one, I think. It mixes both fashion and gameplay so I think you will enjoy it.
There will be one party who wins. Prizes will be discussed further down in the thread. Each party member must be of a different race. No party member may use more than one piece of t3 cultural armor (I don’t want Destiny’s Edge look alikes). I would prefer videos, but if you do not have that capability feel free to take a series of screens while fighting each boss and at the beginning and end of the dungeon. It can be any dungeon. The dungeon must be completed with this party. There must be at least one light armored, medium, and heavy in this group. Otherwise class does not matter.
The most fashionable party (overall) will win:
A new armor skin for each member
An adoring fan (me!)
There will be a last place. Each member will receive a total makeover kit (because they obviously need to rework their characters).
If a submission does not follow the guidelines the entire party is disqualified.
Go forth and have fun! I can’t wait to see your sexy butts all over the dungeon. I’m especially looking forward to you all scrambling to find your Asura and Charr you’ve neglected for so long.
Contest ends July 4th.

Though healers don’t really exist here, role play wise I do go with guardian for that role. It’s a fun class you can make a healer for funsies with caster weapons like scepter and staff (and if you want to do dungeons you can swap traits and weapons easily). I also really love mesmer. The caster duelist aesthetic is nice. It’s a dangerous class when played well, and has some great utility (if you’re good at jumping but your friend isn’t the portal can come in handy for Vistas and puzzles). Generally I like ranger as a solo class because you have your pet, but it is very good for group support (spotter and frost spirit). Those would be my recommendations
How about just a tonic or something similar that makes it look like you’re a different race (the armor you’re wearing would show as the armor would normally on that race, but cultural armors wouldn’t be equippable, or something like that). A mesmer illusion of sorts… except permanent. Or something.
Instead of repair canisters please make the permanent hammer of repairs. A convenient magical hammer that repairs my gear automatically without taking up an inventory slot.
New legendary trinket: makes armor indestructable
Tobias, correct me if I’m wrong, but if it’s possible to save your virtual pennies (gold) to purchase this (as long as it was a Permanent addition to the gem store) there really is no reason for a player who can’t pay real money to complain. If they want it, they can work hard to get it. There is no reason to make a clause like “if people don’t like the price yaddiyaddiyada” because of course they won’t. No one wants to buy things they don’t have to.
You’re wrong. This is the Internet, where people complain about “free” if it’s not something they want. They complain if something is sold which they want, because it should be free. (See: downloaded movies)
Every time someone seems to think there couldn’t possibly be complaints over an arrangement, I sigh and die a little inside. Because I know, unerringly and with experience, there is going to be some just because it can be done and there are some for which nothing is good enough a deal. Real life or Internet.
Well, yeah. I guess I wasn’t talking about the people who complain about the air having oxygen in it. I meant the reasonable ones. I typically tune out the others… and I don’t form my arguments to appease them either which is why I responded how I did.
Miscommunication solved.

Well, my main’s RP personality is much like my own, so a few of the questions were relevant (like does this avatar represent a part of yourself) but many more of the questions were weird and odd. Things like, who controls the avatar, do I play the game how my avatar wants it to be played, anything that gave sentience to the avatar threw me for a loop.
No. it goes against their core philosophy. no player should have access to something that another player cannot have access to. although if you’re in the game, clearly someone paid to be there.
“goes against their core philosophy” They went against their core philosophy a long time ago adding ascended gear.
Explain this one, because what you could have said is “they’ve done it in the past with said Bonus Mission Pack”. Instead you had to bring up Ascended gear again. I’m going to have to deduct style points.
On topic? While I somewhat like the concept, I don’t really want it happening. There would be an uproar about it, as some people already don’t like the idea of the Story Journal and “pay 200 Gems for a chapter you missed”.
Would you be in favor of a full-sized expansion pack for $50 instead?
I’d be in favor of new content of any stripe, especially if it would expand on lore in a forward-thinking way as opposed to looking backwards at what already has been covered.
The price tag . . . would have to be negotiable, if only because while I have a small spot in my budget for that sort of purchase, I know a lot of people don’t.
Does it really matter if it’s a gem purchase with gold to gem?

I felt a little uncomfortable with some of the questions. Seemed very weird. But it’s for science I guess.
I got a few pages in the survey until we got to the “This avatar and I” thingy and I closed the page. I feel more like being interviewed for a mental hospital rather than being questioned as a gamer.
Probably those questions would make much more sense to the RPers out there but for me a big part of them are unrelated to my GW2 experience.
I agree. I felt the same even as an RPer. But I kept going for science as I said lol
If it was a pack being sold for gems (meaning those cheapskates could just farm for the gold) I don’t understand the outrage. I’d pay for it on my 2 accounts and I’d buy it for every one of my friends who couldn’t afford it. It’s 10 dollars. Unless you’re a child, a broke college student, or struggling to make ends meet so much that you probably shouldn’t be wasting time on the game anyway, you can either buy it or farm for it.
I see nothing but good things in this idea. Those of us with disposable incomes could get more than just cosmetic pixels for our cash and those of you with time to farm get your content you’ve been whining about not having.

… guess I should have uploaded this to reddit. Romo did. 19 hours ago. (I posted this 23 hours ago) and he’s up voted like nuts.
Sigh. I can’t ever win redditor of the day.
But I worked pretty hard to get the Mini Liadri and she came back this time around. I also had to do 25 Secret of the Southsun achievements over 2 weeks to get the Sclerite backpack, now people just toss in 1600 festival tokens to a vendor.
I don’t like it when Anet make a call which unique skins should return for everyone to get and which should remain unavailable. They’re all unique skins and to players some skins will be more unique than others, but Anet just cut through and said, “nah, this lot of LS1 skins aren’t unique enough, here, have them for a few festival tokens”.
Secret of Southsun was a long time ago. Anyone who wasn’t playing then would never have the option to get it as the achieves for that have long since been unavailable. Same goes for any LS meta rewards – you hadn’t started playing yet? Tough luck! You’ll never get these items. I’m personally not a fan of that model.
Me neither, but I’m definitely not a fan of that model only partially implemented. Why are some LS1 rewards back but not the others – that’s my beef with this update.
The Krait Obelisk Shard? The Halo? The Jetpack?
Anet have decided that the prestige of some items should remain while others were just ok to rip away from players.
I can totally understand the jet pack (not account bound) and sort of the halo not coming back. I don’t understand why the teq wings didn’t come back or the obelisk shard. Or even a festival token and favor → dragonite ingot, empyreal star, etc (fractured meta). I dislike inconsistency but… the jet pack I totally understand.
Stacking seems like such a boring way to complete dungeons. It is effective but it is just so dang boring. I play the game to have fun and imo, stacking is not fun.
I don’t understand this argument. I need more info pls.
Because honestly… whether stacking itself is fun or not to you really isn’t the issue… is range kiting a boss fun? I find stacking more fun than that.
Must be personal opinions I guess.
It’s indeed your personal opinion. I find stacking boring as hell, and i like kiting a fight, making me run into different positions, being careful of positional awareness to dodge areas, gears, other enemies or trapts. What i like about not stacking is that it’s Harder because often you gotta deal with no boons or heals or nothing, just by yourself and it takes more time to beat down enemies, and by increasing that 2 factors, it increases my pride when i finally beat down an enemy. That’s what makes fun of not stacking.
This argument I can only really see for fights in aetherpath (shocker coming from you right). Fights like Lupicus and other big baddies do not contain mechanics that are interesting enough to make kiting fun. It’s just, pew pew, get out of red circle, pew pew.
I get it from the aetherpath standpoint.
Yeah… well, according to those numbers, you farm quite a lot of things, including dungeons
How often do you play?
Look guys, the ones that say that have loads of them. First, you probably do not convert them into ingots, secondly you need 10 ingots per ascended thing whether a weapon or armor set, that’s 1000 ores right there. And as I said, I had way more than I needed on my account, but since the last few patches there is NO decent way of obtaining those. Dragonites DO NOT drop for killing champs/supply camps/towers in WvW, only from keeps (E.g. hills, bay, garri), how often do you flip those 3 as a red server hm?
Hi Ravenmoon.
Problem with arguing about this with them is that they’re never going to get it because they have enough. It’s like anything else in the game, if it drops for them, it drops for everyone and therefore is not broken.
The most neutral solution is an exchange because even though the majority of people I know have a problem getting dragonite, the open world farmers need empyreal and have stacks and stacks of dragonite. (Also it remains to be seen if you’re only open world farming… do you need ascended gear?) So it’s entirely possible that they have 10 stacks of dragonite but don’t actually know how much goes into ascended gear. /shrug
Hooray! (: Should we message you in-game if we won a prize?
Yes
you will need to tell me what you want for an armor set
