Eh. Guardian has magic and warrior doesn’t. They’re pretty similar play style while meleeing though.

I very much prefer guardian. But I have both. Guardian is fun because the weapon choices are varied. I like the bit of magic in them that allows use of scepters foci and staves. Warrior is fun too… but it just depends on what you like to do. Warriors have a lot of fun melee options, with axes hammera and swords. Guardians can use hammers and swords too… eh like I said it depends on your play style preferences.

You have to dye it yourself. Get some dyes from the TP and experiment with them. I am willing to bet the gold color is either gold dye or redemption.

I’m returning to GW2 after a 8-month hiatus, and am looking to do dungeons & fractal runs with my Guardian and Elementalist. I’d done most of the content (all dungeons except Arah, fractals upto lvl38) on my Warrior, but the meta has shifted since. Also, when I do the same content on my Guardian, I feel like I’m not contributing as much as I should. It’d be nice to learn from the masters, and hopefully also help out nubs like me afterwards.

At launch for a short period, all races could use all other races cultural. This was changed, can’t remember the reason.

Then that Flamekissed armor came out in the Gemstore – which if you didn’t know the Light armor was Human Light T3 reskinned to be “flamey” – this caused a gargantuan uproar. ArenaNet rightfully caved in and admitted their mistakes, removed & changed all existing armor to what it is today.

As to why I can’t go to an Asuran vendor and buy that awesome T3 for my Human Warrior is simply unanswerable though. If all races could use all races armor, there would be no crying anywhere. Those seeking “exclusivity” in an online community are foolish.

The main issue with the flamekissed was not the fact that you could wear it on other races, most of the hate was because it was a cooler version of the already existing T3 and you could directly buy it from the gemstore, apply it without crystals and in the end spending less of what T3 user paid. So… many of them felt cheated.

This … but also I guess because the other cultural armor was not available to the light humans… so it was just their armor that got demoted, sorta.

Disclaimer: I have no official opinion either way on this subject, just adding more information.

In the racial city of your character there are blue armor vendors which sell them. T3 is 119g for a full set.

I’m going to bring up a piece of anecdotal information, but I promise I have a point.

One time I was in a Fractal, and we got Molten for our final boss. We all died, except the one pug we had (was a guild run, mostly) soloed the berserker down from 75% to 0% giving us the revive. This PUG was a 13K AP Necromancer.

My group was stunned. I mean, we had been carried, the entire run, by a Necromancer Achievement Hunter… How could that be?

Moral:

In my opinion, it isn’t the class, the gear check, the achievement points, etc that determines the QoL of a given run. It’s the bloody RNG. This is why initiatives like the Dungeon Mentor guild and the other initiatives are so important. By doing this, we are improving the PUG Roulette RNG, one student at a time.

Class banning has its place in speed running. However, in my opinion, to expect a PUG to be speed running quality is foolhardy. I’ve had fun fractals and dungeons with all classes. Especially this shortbow cutie.

I often do fractals on fresh level 2’s for the challenge. I would say that for a noobie it would be best at 80… but if you have people you know to play with, you can succeed fairly easy around level 30 when you have all of your utilities and elite unlocked.

Celestial build is fun to watch though.

Okay, I’ll start:

1. Agony is damage that is both avoidable and unavoidable depending on the boss you are fighting. If it is the last boss of your fourth fractal, there is unavoidable agony. This cannot be dodged. The only way to mitigate it is to have enough Agony Resistance (AR). There is a table in the wiki which will show the percentages of health you lose per tick based on your resistance. For 19 and 29, 20 and 30 AR is generally sufficient. On the table, it shows that after a certain amount the reduction plateaus and you cannot decrease it anymore past 1%.
2. If your personal reward level (PRL) is 11+ you have a chance, after a level 11+ fractal to receive a bonus reward of a ring, weapon skin, or ascended weapon/armor chest. The fractals come in tiers. If you have a PRL 50, you can do a fractal between 1-10, 11-20, 31-40, and 41-50 and have a chance at a bonus reward from each tier. If your PRL is 11 and you do a level 50, you will get a daily bonus chest from tier 2, at level 11. So you must level in order to receive the higher chances and tiers of rewards.
3. Aetherpath is a newly added dungeon which is why it has so many achievements but it is not particularly special. It is a bit longer than most other paths and requires coordination with a good group to complete in a timely manner.
4. Dungeons have particular paths. 1, 2, 3, 4 are all decided after you enter the instance. In the case of Twilight Arbor, You have the choice to either take the forward path or the up path after beating the first boss, but these can also be referred to as 1 or 2. Also in Twilight Arbor, you can do the Aetherpath. All dungeons, apart from Arah, have 3 explorable modes and 1 story mode. Arah has 1 story mode and 4 explorable paths.
5. I do not know.
6. Rush means speed run, exactly.
7. Necros and engis and rangers are generally not wanted in Pick-up-Groups (PUGs). But all can succeed in any path or dungeon.
8. Warriors are often wanted in PUGs, and guardians. Pre-formed groups often use the best classes for the dungeons, which can mean an elementalist, or a Mesmer, or any other class that provides a specific utility for the path at hand. Short story: Any can be the best, apart from Necro, generally.
9. I think the sharpening stones are the best for those situations.
10. Lemongrass something is fairly good. I like buying expensive food though, so I go with the Dragonfly Starcake. But that’s me. Omnomberry bars are the best MF food.
11. I believe, depending on the dungeon, you can accrue anywhere between 60 and 72 tokens from each path. It varies per dungeon path.
12. Correct.
13. I don’t know, I would say yes.
14. Certain dungeon gear has stats that are not acquired through a crafted inscription (Rabid, dire, cavalier, shaman, etc). When salvaging exotic dungeon gear of these stat types, you have a chance to gain the inscription/insignia.

But is it actually seasonal, can you explain how, or are people just assuming it is because it happened to be Wintersday when it was released?

Lorewise, grenth is one of 2 or 3 gods typically associated with wintersday in Tyria. Grenth and Dwayna are the main gods, but I did see someone mention balth but I don’t know that lore. Anyway that’s why they are considered festival hats.

With my guild raffles I go to extreme lengths to make sure I do not make money. It’s a little different for a public raffle. You can ethically make a few extra gold… but too much over it and it would be a little silly.

I think you have choices:

Make a limit on the entries such that you stop entries once you reach the weapon value or a little above it.

Make a wild card 2nd prize (third prize if there’s enough entries) with the pool of gold equivalent to the gold worth of extra entries.

While I wouldn’t be against the Grenth Hood (or even the Gas Mask) coming back for sale, I think Wanze’s point was that ANet would want to keep the G.Hood seasonal so as to increase sales during the Wintersday period.

I don’t disagree but I also don’t think it’s completely impossible.
