No more uncomfortable than inside the Karka Lair on Southsun Cove, I had to cross my legs when I ran in there to do the diving achievement, Thankfully the water at the bottom was the equivalent of a cold shower.

Mmmm try using the basic or fine salvage kit instead of the crude one, the crude one will only salvage white items and under level 40 I think

Is Guild Wars 2 a different game than Guild Wars 1….the answer isn’t that simple.

Try to put yourself in this place. There are people here who played Guild Wars 1 for years. In that game we were RICH. We had the best of everything. The best armor in the game (visually), the best weapons, the rarest minis, the best everlasting tonics, the best titles. We could go anywhere and do anything. This was the game we played.

Then Anet annouced an expansion called Utopia. And Utopia was going to be a Guild Wars 1 expansion. But as Anet discussed their options, they realized a lot of the things they wanted to do couldn’t be done with the old engine. They had all sorts of ideas. They learned all sorts of lessons. And they wanted something better.

So they decided to scrap Utopia and they decided to come out with Guild Wars 2…not because it was a different game. But to update the existing game. I know this because Anet said so.

So they came to us, fans who’d been playing their game loyally for five years and they said, okay guys, we’re not going to expand this game anymore. We know you like it, but we think we can do better.

They asked Guild Wars 1 players, who were rich, who had unlocked every skill, who had vanquished every area of the world to bear with them, while they created something new.

And every long term Guild Wars 1 player had to deal with the concept of starting over. This is what we had. The same gold, the same karma the same inventory space as everyone else who was starting….and this was our expansion…or it replaced it. Because of this game, we didn’t get major updates. Since Guild Wars 2 was annouced, we had a handful of new content releases, many of them okay but nothing to write home about. They all took place in existing zones. They got progressive more meh.

Because we were asked to transfer our allegience (but not our gold or possessions to this game). Anet didn’t want people coming to the game to feel disadvantaged, so they limited the rewards to basically cosmetic items. Pet skins, weapon skins, minipets but no real advantage. In fact, many rangers were disadvantaged because two of the hall of monuments pets were bugged and were weaker than their in world counterparts for most of this game’s lifespan. It was only fixed a couple of months ago.

So here we are, giving up everything we’ve accumulated to play this new game, which replaced our expansion. And it IS a new game…but it’s also our promised expansion because no expansion for the game we were playing was going to come out and no new content is forthcoming either. We could have had two, maybe three expansions in the time that it took this game to come out and many many people would have preferred that.

We all started over and got a bunch of skins. Of the HoM skins, I like a handful of them…and the mini pets and the ranger skins….oh yeah and I got 50 achievement points. That’s it. For all the stuff I was giving up to come here, including expansions and all the stuff I’d accumulated, I got some skins and a few points.

Is this really an issue worth fighting about? Did I gain more or lose more?

I have been at arah and witnessed the fighting that occurs between the farmers and the group trying to get to Arah. I does suck for both sides and the nastiness and name calling that occurs is on par with primary school brawls , its hilarious but so childish. I have also been there when a farming group moved to Melandru let the others through with out much fuss.

People really need to grow up and stop being so selfish

And there are API’s out there that can let you know when you are out bid, when the price reaches a certain amount. There are even apps that will send annoying messages to your phone causing your boss to look at you with laser beam death stares, every time a certain price gets reached . Im not sure whats worse the laser beam death stares or the fact your stuck at work and unable to act on the price spike !

The correct answer is icing dye is the poor mans celestial or white dye.

Yep, the whole thing is about jumping. If you hate that on principle then this is not the event for you. No biggie though, with new events every 2 weeks, just do something else, or take a break and something you prefer may be next.

That said, I hate jumping puzzles normally, but really enjoyed this. There are at least 2 trivially easy kites to get (provided Kites of the Night is not bugged – try guesting) and the rest of the jumping, whilst not exactly easy, lacks the mind-numbing frustration (for me!) of many of the normal JPs, where I fail, fail and fail again at the same jumps for days on end

I suck at JP I actually have a fear of them and avoid them but I did one lat night (actually it wasn’t a kittene in lorna’s pass) But I did it all by myself with out any assistance , then ran through the lounge room as a victory lap… LOL I think may learn to like them

Well I’ve now started to do some item flipping and I’m finding it quite profitable. Sometimes it can take a while to sell items and if it goes past a week unsold I will relist it. So don’t tell me to wait, I am waiting. I think if the prices were removed it would make flipping easier for the people who want to do it seriously because at the moment I get the feeling that everyone does it because it’s so easy.

I’m not complaining that people are undercutting, I’m just a bit annoyed that it’s so so easy to do with the current mechanic.

Then make it work for you.

Look at the prices other have theirs listed for if there is

Kite in the night was easier to me than the other two jp’s mentioned. If you watch the video its pretty easy to get to and if you luck out and other people are there the door may already be open.

I tried that one the other day and it was bugged on Tarnished Coast for some reason, so I didn’t mention it. True if the door is open then it’s a good option.

yea on SoR, a coulpe of us were trynig and the door was untargettable for a good 15 minutres since i started looking for it. i tried looking for other triggers but couldn’t find any. so i just decided to hang around and do my daily. and then all of a sudden, the door was targettable, i.e. interactable again so i messaged those that were aroudn earlier who may have left and a bunch of us went to do it. : )) it’s easy if it’s open.. just, couldn’t figure out under what circumstances is the door “open”. a couple of us thought that may the door would be timed before it can be interactable again.

It did mine on SoR as well as SoS was bugged

I am unable to view anything in the TP. I can open the window and move between sections like currency exchange and buy/sell. But none of the windows have anything in them.

If a person wants to win, that’s fine – if they really don’t care one way or another, also fine – if they let other people win, that’s fine too. An Olympic gold medal is the highest reward for winning a competition in the games it is named for, that is all it is. Just like the first place ribbon is the highest reward for winning a competition in the game it is named for. The game they are awarded for may be different and the competitors may be different but they are the same thing.

This is why Olympic awards have not even always been medals, There was a few occasions (and of course the ancient games) where they gave out a stick… (olive branch). There have been cups as well and of course the “gold” medal isn’t made of gold at all. Because what the object is doesn’t matter at all nor does it’s monetary worth. It’s all about getting the acknowledgement that you are the best. This is why if Sochi 2014 games decide to give out gold silver and bronze ribbons to the competitors no one will miss a beat. Because the shape or name of the award is irrelevant. It’s just about getting first place.

You have taken what I have said and twisted it, like pushing a 3year old down is (most likely) cheating at the game. So yes I agree you would be disqualified (and possibly have more repercussions) But how is that any different from if you pushed your opponent down while racing the Olympic level 100 meter? Still cheating, still facing repercussions.

Sounds to me that what you are saying is;
Gold medal being inflated by giving them out to everyone is bad because it’s important
3 year old potato sac race ribbon being inflated by giving them out to everyone is no big deal because its not all that important.

Well there are a lot of levels between the two. Where does it for you, become important enough to say we should stop giving out ribbons to everyone at this level of competition. Jr high? High school? The nationals? or is it only at the world wide Olympic level where we should say “ok now everyone doesn’t get a medal anymore”?

To be fair I agree that there is a point where who cares if everyone got a medal, Its just a race for 3 yearold kids. But surely you understand that everyone has a different Idea of where true competition begins. And for some it may be lower than you. Tell my son that his 1st place ribbon is meaningless and he would look at you like you were crazy. Because to you it’s not as important because it wasn’t on the world stage but to him he worked hard for it and is proud of what he did. However “you showed up” ribbons find their way to the trash fast.

Yes but what your failing to see here is that getting that title in the sprint here is no real competition here , not all competitors are starting that race on equal terms.

Its equivalent to starting a 100 mt sprint with

Bolt, Ian Thorpe, Bomba the jungle boy, Borat and Stephen Hawking

If Bolt thinks he won that race because he was competing with equal competitors , then someone should call in the drug testers and I don’t mean WADA

I’ve found way more luck opening more than a few at a time. Every time I opened 1 to 5, I only get 1,2 or 4 scraps each, usually 1 or 2.

However, when I saved up and opened 44, I got 3 that had 50 each in them. So, I got 150 plus another 41 with other scrap counts and ended up with around 235 scraps just from those 44.

Pro tip: collect bags and open multiple kites at one time. I know Heavy loot bags have a very good rate of kites in them (get most from wvw for me anyway). I think it was medium loot bags that also gave me quite a few. I’m unsure of trinket bags, icy bags, bags of booty, etc).

Results for me: $0 spent in gem store with approximately 100 kits opened so far = 442 fortune scraps so far. 250 scrap prize, 150 scrap prize, 4 extra zephyr boxes = thank you, Anet!

Try Tarnished Coast. In many races we have a friendly group in there. It’s better in the morning on weekdays for some reason. About half the groups I am with are there just for fun and not to try to prove how great they are. I’ve organized races where we agree not to use certain skills to see who could win without them. That is pretty fun too.

Or Try Sea of Sorrows at around 2am pst ( thats like 7pm australian time) Last night i played at least 8 games on my own with no one in the race till I got bored.

The new armor skins happened. One of the most favourite are the white glowing gloves. People want white dyes to match them. Since most people do not watch market progression, they don’t know that prices spiked and keep buying. That`s all. They will fall again when it levels out.

Correct , and I thank the RNG gods that I found white dye a day or so before the release of the radiant gloves. Now I can create my white knight in shining Armor….. I just need those 250 thingies to get the helm with the icy blue coloured crystal from the weapon specialist

Unless you want a quick sale , just leave it sit for a while and ignore the undercutting.

I have one regular item that i have listed at kitten I will buy 50 or so at a low price 15s and relist them almost straight way at kitten or there about, while there will be lower prices ones listed under me at 22s, However I know by the weekend my listed ones will have sold @ kitten , you just need to be patient and know your market

And the money you will save will need to be spent on gym fees and weight loss programs due to the ever increasing size of your posterior, caused by the frequent use of cheapo waypoints.

I think you’ll find many of the threads complaining about the lag arn’t complaining because they’re losing. I know most folks out there are probably my better at the racing.

What bothers me is this whole idea looks so much fun yet I physically cannot participate due to skill latency making the skills behave extremely erraticlly.

Yes, my latency is terrible at times, actually I might record it this afternoon so people can see exactly what we have to deal with. The only reason I have the achievement is because to combat the lag issue I went looking for a lower pop server to see if it would help. As it turned out I was fortunate enough to enter a race with a lovely group of people . One member asked if he could be so bold as to ask if he win because he was after the achievement . I replied I have no problems with that because my lag is so bad I wouldn’t have a kitten show in kitten of coming first I just wanted the frequent sprinter without taking 10 minutes each run due to being thrown all over the map LOL …. and everyone all was like " Well why don’t we just all take turns at winning " and each and every player sat at the finish line jumping and cheering as each took their turn at finishing first.

No one expected to be given it (well one guy did ask) but everyone worked together to help one another.
It was a very warm and fuzzy moment LOL

I was going to suggest turning down the graphics but i see someone says it doesn’t help.
Last week I played it on a crappy laptop that just makes the requirements with no problems at due to the fact i was bird sitting ( yes who baby sits a bird for 10 dyas LOL)

anyway back home now on my pc that has all settings maxed out and I want to punch the screen it was that annoying. at times i was standing still and then WTF I was dead in another part of the map, I couldn’t even finish a game , This morning though at 6.30am Aust time on sos it was ok,

So i will try a low pop server tonight and see how that goes

Maybe its because everyone was whinging about RNG items and pleeeeeesaaasseee "let us craft the next items "

Do you have enough money to cover the selling fees?

I don’t think it’s a bug – This always happens to me

Keep picking up your items and the money will flow in ,

Sometimes I will have sold 20g worth of items of a 24 hour period and bought 1000’s of items, but only 1 g will show to be picked up , If my inventory is full the rest of the gold will not start showing until I empty my inventory and pick up more items . I assume this is to deter people from using the TP as a bank to hold their items.

When you go to pick up your items it might only show only 1g at first.
Keep picking up and making room in your inventory and the money will start flowing in .
It appears to flow in, in the pattern it was sold and if you bought items as well in the meant time that spaces it out as well.

I freaked out the first time I noticed too and thought something was wrong LOL

Maybe move all your money to an alt so you dont yet charged to wp every time you die, at least then the constant dying is a little less painful

mmmm… you weren’t ripped off , you just didn’t read well.

I guess you could file a support ticket , but I would hold onto the gems as I think that in the future they will release more , picks and sickles. I myself didn’t buy the pick because at the time it thought it was the “Stupidest idea ever” LOL I soooo wish I had have bought it now.
