Well I have single player games that I can play when I’m not with friends. MMO is kind of a multiplayer thing.
Spvp – you can enter with friends,
Personal story – you can do this with friends.
All I’m saying is that nobody would have complained if this instance was set up like F and F instances before the last dungeon and personal story instances before Arah story mode – you can go alone or bring a friend. No forced grouping and no forced solo.
I was under the impression that it could be done as both?

I like doing things myself, I like being able to achieve things on my own without having to rely on others to get me though, but thats just me. I don’t need someone to "complete me "

Every time you buy a key to open a BL chest, you do get something. It’s called boosters and service items. You are always guaranteed to get these items and that is exactly what you are paying for. These items are worth something even if you do not care about them. Just because you open a chest and consider it empty if it doesn’t have a skin in it doesn’t mean that you were cheated.
While you are right, you receive your gems worth of items typically… you are not considering the fact people DONT care about them and are only after desired item in the chest, otherwise they wouldn’t buy it in the first place… so techincally to that person the chest IS EMPTY. If it was to be fair, put those skins on the TP seperate.
The boosters and service items are the main purpose of the black lion chests. It’s in the item description. The rare shinies are just a bonus. It’s like when a baby gets a new toy and they ignore it because they are more interested in playing with the cardboard box and bubblewrap than the toy itself.
Another example: I could spend all my money buying fortune cookies until I get the fortune I want. I don’t bother eating the cookies. If I don’t get it then I blame the cookie maker for his RNG. You’d say, “Why would you spend all that money on something worthless?”. Worthless to you but it has value to me and I’ll keep buying them until I get the one I want.
If you think lockboxes are unethical, then vote with your wallet and stop participating in unethical actions. If you stop buying them, then ANet will offer alternatives.
I’m sorry, but this comparison is so completely off, I had to respond. In your comparison, it’s more like you sell fortune cookies and you say that there’s a rare chance that one of them contains a huge friggin diamond. Or the key to a new ferrari.
This is skinwars. Skins are everything. The very epitome of this game, the “highest” goal for many is, in fact, the acquiring of a skin dubbed “legendary weapon”. Some of the most appealing skins and most wanted items (permanent hair stylist, eternal tonics, permanent contracts) are deliberately put in boxes and chests that require you to gamble. I say “require” because, unless you are dirt-rich in game (which the majority, by definition, is not), you cannot buy enough of these boxes or keys to get your skin ticket. It’s as simple as that. And it’s not like you can save forever for these skins, oh noooooo; these skins are “temporary”. So flip out your credit card, or grind yourself into oblivion. It’s very wrong, and on so many levels. Some of them have been mentioned above; it incites gambling and it preys on weakness.
and so because of the weak the rest of us have to suffer? I have ample money and gems to buy the crates if I CHOOSE to , I would hate to see that choice taken away from me just because a the a few that have no self control.
On the other hand I would also hate to see someone blow their grocery or rent on a handfull of gems. Because in actual fact people are purchasing gems, and clearly getiing what they pay for ( done so legally companies have no issues there) its up to the consumer what they use those gems for. Perhaps the solution is to limit the amount of gems one can buy per week, (this may already be in place, I don’t know)
But then yet again that discriminated against those that aren’t inclinded to make silly purchases based on chance.

Please tell me, why make the story dungeon a solo play experience?Also the boss looks interesting but as far as i have seen and heard he’s nothing special…
You might want to give you’re bosses special attacks.. like in the flame and frost dungeon those were great.love the look and feel of the content but would be nice if the main villian was different from every other boss mob around.

I have only one toon on lvl 80 and did it with out crafting , actually I only did the crafting once i hit level 80.
I just followed the story line , ran all the events I could , Map completion gets you good xp, Ming you I dumped my ele after a few weeks because i was just dying all the time, and switched to a necro which helped a lot, now i am slowlu trying to understand my ele so I can lvl her too
LOL Funny I discoved this last night when my fingernail hit “V” at the same time as i jumped…. I was doing amazing acrobatics all night after that
I have had around 30-40 I reckon and all I got was kaka

19 times out of 20 I cannot view tabs “Items I’ve Bought” nor “Items I’ve Sold”.
Same here, drives me nuts when i get the “No results” message. I have to do it at least 4 times before they will show, I have noticed though if you are not in LA it works a little better.
I assume the person who placed the order first, hence the need to outbid.
Virocane. I once freaked out because the gold hadn’t turned up, and more often than not when i check my tp only part of my sales show, its not until i click take all that it all starts to flow in.
If you really want to get technical people are getting what they pay for.
You pay cash for gems and there is nothing misleading about that. You pay x amount for x amount of gems.
Its up to you what you use those gems for.

8 hours of farming (Mostly for Blood/Scales). 330% MF
-11 Southsun crates (Ticket was in the 9th crate for me)
-1 Weapon ticket
-8 dyes
-98 Powerful Blood
-80 Armored ScalesI never actually wanted the weapon ticket. Was just in it for the materials.
Of all the low drop rate things that have come in content patches, I get this… Really wanted that MF jetpack. :<
Same here I have been farming for the mats… I have got about 30 crates, I dont expect to get a ticket and i haven’t. Last night someone on the map got their first crate and it had a ticket, They were so excited and asked how much it was worth, because they didn’t like the skins …. Thats when i felt real sorry for them.
Funny enough I did tihe same last week with 4 rare staves, and Carrion Krait ripper

my lvl 28 ele was dying in 5 secs flat there, it was then i realised thakitten was my first toon and i had abandoned her at lvl 13 (only at lvl due to crafting) when i looked at her rather quick death rate, i discovered She had no traits and lvl 5 weapon and armor ,,,, I was sooooooooooo dumb back then no wonder i hated her

I make decent money overall in the game. Would like to be able to play the TP but every time I try I have no idea what items to look for
Sometimes you can find them by accident when you loot things,
There’s one giant elephant in the room no one ever seems to consider, the items being used that are in question are account bound/soul bound items, meaning they have no value beyond your personal worth for them. You cannot compare that to anything in RL. Not to mention the fact that this “worth” versus what it might actually cost to get one is very out of balance. You’re also talking about digital pixel that you can never actually own, so even in that sense it’s very much a sham. It’s basically selling a chance at a snake oil cure that does nothing but look pretty on your shelf. When looking at it that way it’s a very different scenario than simply gambling.
You summed it up perfectly. Its a GAME, some people really need to get out and smell the roses.
P.S I love the game and play on average 5 hours a day. I have spend real money on gems in the past, on bank slots, etc But it astounds me that people will spend RL money on a rare chance to obtain pixels of no real value and complain.
I have personally known three people in game, through a guild I was in at the time, who have been banned or ‘temporarily banned’ for, and I quote, “Market Manipulation”.
These players were all legit. They all earned their gold through luck/farming/TP legit, or, through large gem purchases (one of them blew a very significant amount on buying gems to sell is my understanding). Regardless, they came into significant amounts of gold allowing them to buy large quantities of items on the TP.
In the case of the ‘high roller’, he did it explicitly out of frustration with mat pricing. So, he bought enough gold, legitimately through the gem store, to buy every single one of a certain item on the TP and jack up the price five fold.
Again, all in game interaction through legitimate means, yet, banned for “Market Manipulation”.
So, please, explain to everyone here how you can advise this individual that it’s okay when, in fact, it appears not to be.

1. It is clearly stated by Arenanet that there is a rare chance of a crate drop
2. They then go onto say that in that rare drop there is rare chance of getting a ticket.
It is clearly stated rare. twice. No false ideas Rare and Rare. It’s your choice to either use your logic or buy the crates.
you can seriously get in in a couple of hours, I did and i’m a pretty crap player, just avoid the crab toss achivement, I played once and worked out I pretty much had as much of a chance at winning as finding a weapon ticket and I gave up.

I completely disagree with the OP’s suggestion about a “rule of thumb” for undercutting. There should be no rule-of-thumb, because there should be no undercutting at all! Undercutting is leading to the inflation of prices in the TP and will eventually result in a collapse.
I’m not sure if I’m misinterpreting what you were saying but I fail to see how making prices lower leads to inflation.. if anything people undercutting make it easier for people with less money to buy the items.
I think he appears to be a little confused, that or he has confused me.
Most of what he says seems to apply to buy orders and not selling prices? It doesn’t make any sense

Up until a month ago I had never had 1g , until a friend showed me how to farm t6 mats, that led to me listing a few on tp… a few trips to TP and i noticed the buy orders and sell prices on things …and went mmmm why farm when i can do the same while i sleep. I now have over 500g not world shattering but a lot more than the 45s I had a month ago LOL
but you have to change your methods all the time, as stormageddonBK said once other catch on , you need to move on and find the next money maker.

People do not willingly throw money away. They are convinced one way or another that it’s a good idea. They are persuaded to make a choice that is detrimental to themselves. Scam.

I have only found crates when I had low MF on, I got two from the exact same spot on different days , although one came from one of those personal wooden chests (that is 99% of the time filled with pile of putride essence of me ) and the other came from reef rider in the same spot.
The others have come from a mosquito and a reef rider on the ice drift bit?
None had a ticket, nor was i expecting one, hell i didnt even get a fused weapon ticket mostly because i didnt open any boxes.
It would be good if we could have a something that tells you if and how much you are currently buying when you go to buy an item
Currently when you go to sell something we do with "you are selling 14 @ 4.99 " this item will be listed with your other items.
presently when you go to buy an item it will show all the buy orders , but you have no way of knowing if any are yours .
The only way to find out is to leave the item , go back into transactions—> items i am buying —-> scroll though all the items —> find the item , remember the price you are buying at and the amount-—-> click on the item, Mum, Mum quick—>runs to see potenial life threating disaster (yeah great BLOPS 2 has new maps) grrrrrrr .. now what was the buy order price —--, go back into transaction—> items i am buying —-> scroll though all the items —> find the item , remember the price you are buying at and the amount-—-> click on the item,——> oh i really need to go to the toilet but not until i look at the highest buyer not going through that circle again, got it——> oh dear oh no perhaps I should have gone to the toilet first.

See I sell lots of runes in the last few weeks and I’ve noticed something, and you can look at GuildWarsTrade or GW2Spidy to see it. In the wee early hours on the East Coast, prices of some runes shoot up. This is because there are a lot of older sale items that simply are never sold. Once all the the reasonably priced ones are gone, poof, price soars through the roof until someone posts one back in the range it traded earlier in the day.
Now if you simply undercut by a copper or two when the price is say, 6s50c when the “average” for the day was 5s12c, it’ll never sell. People will start putting ones up for sale at 5s50c and it’ll be undercut throughout the day and maybe by midnight it’ll be under 5s. Eventually those are bought up including any others unsold in the low 5s range and suddenly the price returns to that 6s50c. Rince and recycle.
I’m liquidating these items, don’t want to wait.
Yes and you can virtually bank on certain items to do the same thing over and over.
Buy mid week when buy prices hit bottom and you are almost assured that the come weekend you will be seeing the prices hit the top again, before it bottoms out again.
It caused me heart pulpations when i first started dabbling in playing the TP. LOL but you learn read it and go with the flow,
My only mistake I have ever made was piles of putrid essence, but that actually served as a lesson on how the market can be manipulated ( thank fully it wasnt an expensive one)
If you are undercut by a large margin you can buy out the undercuts provided there isnt like 100’s of them and still profit.
I do it quite regularly but only if i can be sure or profitting, if not i will sit on my items till they are at a more reasonable price.
I am talking about item i buy at 10c and sell for 6s, If 20 or so yet listed at 2s and under i just buy them out and stick them back on for 6s. If the price steadily drops i can still list at 30c and still profit.
Personally I don’t like the skins, but that hasn’t stopped me from opening the rare crates i have found (which have been when soloing and with min.MF?) and crossing my fingers , toes and eyes that i find i ticket, just for the hell of finding one, but i hear they make the chocolate taste terrible …… oh wrong story.

I don’t buy something cause no one else has it. I buy something cause I want it, regardless of who else has it. This isn’t some sort of competition to see who can have the rarest items and flex their manhood (or womanhood for you ladies). I buy something cause I enjoy it myself. I don’t care what others think.

That’s a lot of posts about selling/dumping things to the TP, but I, too, would love to see them get rid of all of the buy orders that shouldn’t exist and are no longer valid.
I dont suppose they can just remove items you have listed without your permission, even if they are below the merchants new price.
I usually check all my buy orders once a week to see if they are still the highest buyer. If not i pull and reorder. It might be nice thought to get an alert to let you know that the price is no longer valid.
