I died like ~20 times trying to do the diving goggles because the #3 skill keep overshooting me. However, I eventually discover that by pressing the backward key a sec or so while in the air, you will slow down enough to land correctly. Depends a great deal on luck, but its a work around.
I’ll try that . I keep over shooting as well and landing on the on the sail mask below and dying , The mask below isn’t even far enough a fall that a should necro dye on , its wierd
Anet just gave everyone a bunch of free gold with this update, and suddenly you’re all concerned about “gold sinks”? 1g covers 70+ deaths, and unless you are really really bad, you’d get a positive return at the end of the day anyway. Shut up and play the game.
You waypoint for free if you have no money on your character or bank. You can just give it all to an alt.

I found myself dying a lot, because I’m a terrible jumper.
I made a new low level character, and now I’m paying 5 copper per waypoint. I think I’ll be able to afford a lot more deaths before even coming close to one silver.
Obviously not a solution for anyone with full character slots, but if you do have the space, it’s a huge cost saving approach.
Great idea , My lvl 80 Norn is such a big fat kitten that she never jumps quite the same as my lvl 5 human and its so annoying ,
The special animation doesn’t do the set justice in my opinion, I mean, c’mon, lighting? at least the other two have some sort of connection to what they are, magma/lava + rocks, water/vines + plants, random lightning +trees? It’d make sense if I was trying to burn the tree down I guess, btu then I’d get ash, no logs.

And “beating the odds” refers to the process of getting something that is difficult to get due to the low chances of getting the item. This particular item, a jade weapon ticket, has a chance of one in 1250 coffers of dropping. You got it in 500 using my method. Now, if you believe that opening chests naked improves your odds of getting a ticket, I suggest you dedicate your own thread to this, indicating methods used and indicating what happened after at least opening 10k coffers in that manner. This thread is about magic find, an whether it improves the odds of opening coffers.

Lisa, I opened over 10k coffers. If we want to test whether my consistent results are experienced by others, this is the only way. You can ridicule it all you want, but the fact is some people do not get tickets and are very frustrated over it. I could have done nothing, not share anything. How easy that would have been. I didn’t, because I genuinely believe this works and want to help people. You just want to be funny over the backs of others, in this case, mine. And it’s so easy to do so, isn’t it? I could think of a hundred better jokes to ridicule this, but the fact is, no one is helped by that. You want to blindly follow one dev who made statements about this half a year ago. Fine. I on the other hand want to see what works, and hopefully avoid people from resorting to the rich coffer slot machine that is covered with the foul letters of false advertising.

And the fact is, and this is directed at all the bashers of trying this out yourself, this is comparable to my consistent results opening coffers with MF on the exact same spot (which I pm’d to gaviston at his request). You’ll also see way more risen knights using more MF. Very easy to at least spot that one.

So 500 crates No Magic Find – No Armor -
19 risen knights
3 Dragon wings from drops
2 Tickets.
Also puking in the mystic forge before getting naked helps, well thats what worked for me.
BTW did you know that if you stand on the stair banisters outside the bank and try and puke on Merchant Wynn and all his customers, the puke stays suspended above their heads.
One fee is charged as soon as you list it , the second fee comes out of the money you get when you sell it. When you go to sell something again , have a look at the listed price and profit price.
I know loads of people that opened just a few hundred and got a ticket.I opened about 1000+ and i have 4 tickets…Play more,open more..Theyre so easy to get.
And other people have opened thousands and got jack, that’s how RNG works and why people are complaining. It took me 1300 coffers to get one ticket, for example.
Ticket for achievement is wrong imo.The weapon will lose being special right there…since every man and his wife and his kid will be wearing one after having done 10 achievements….The RNG on these things is to keep it a special item.
Who gives a kitten if the weapon is “special”? Some of us choose weapon skins because we like the way they look, not because other people don’t have them.

That’s the beauty of RNG whether someone has 2 copper or 2000g they both have equal opportunity to get that ticket.
I followed your wife’s lead, instead of waiting till i got a full stack (mind u I got 1 ticket from a full stack) I opened when i got to 20 tickets and BAM got another on my 12th coffer
What amazes me the most here is no reply from Anet/NcSoft. It’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out. Another gaming company is under investigation for pushing players to spend real money and possibly using deceptive practices. I sense new rules and regulations coming in the future for all online games.

Opened roughly around 175 normal coffers, and got 2 tickets, 7 mini’s and a metric ton of fireworks, along with some food and a bunch of Zhaitaffy. The system works, and is fine as is, just gotta hope you get lucky.
Just out of curiosity, if you one of the people who have opened 2000 to 3000 coffers and not gotten a ticket, would you still say the system works and is fine as is?
I’m not saying the current RNG system works fine or not, either way I knew going into what I like to call " The Willy Wonka syndrome " was gonna be more then likely against me. If I didn’t get a ticket I would be bummed out sure. I wouldn’t be cussing out the system that is in place, we all know how loot drops in this game has been an issue since November.
However it was my choice to make to spend 120 gold on 5345 coffers. Now if Anet had these skins for a straight up gem purchase of 600 – 800 gems, plus this system I think it would have been better for the community.

I’m sorry but the “It’s not fair because I really really want it” claims are getting a bit old. Here is the circular pattern I always see with these items:
“These items should not be RNG drops they should be in the gem store so I can buy them direct.”
“These items should not be in the cash shop, they should be obtainable in game. I don’t want to pay for them.”
Back to 1. Wash and repeat.

No I have not gotten a ticket. I would have liked one for my longbow but if I don’t get it I will somehow manage to live with that. Extremely rare items are not meant for everyone to have. Hopefully some of you get one before the event ends.
I think it’s fine to have both kinds of rewards, and it’s fine to not get one or both because you have real life obligations. It’s not about “deserving” anything – nobody “deserved” it they just got it as a gift if they showed up. I don’t see what’s wrong about saying, “my family/work/tiger was more important for those days than a video game helmet” and just not having it.
My point is that it was a fundamentally stupid design choice, and I don’t think being detached to the point of not having an opinion is the answer.
ArenaNet made a poor decision that resulted in people who weren’t even very busy IRL not being able to get the helm due to buggy overflows and such, while at the same time a lot of people got it erroneously due to bugs, yet were allowed to keep it.
The whole thing was just badly executed and people who enjoy collecting stuff in-game (or just wanted that particular helm) missed out for no genuine reason – just tacked on exclusivity.

Seriously some people might not log in for a month . some might buy the game tomorrow,
So after 4200 boxes I finally get a ticket (queue song “I’ve got a golden ticket”) and I was thrilled until I realized that I need one more for a matching pair of daggers.
The problem is that someone could have started farming coffers since the second Dragon Bash started and never stopped playing the game for a second until right this second, and still never get a weapon ticket.
Someone could blow (hypothetically, I hope no one actually does) thousands upon thousands of dollars on Rich Coffers, and not get a ticket.
The potential amount of gametime and farming required could eclipse the amount of time it would take to make a Legendary and someone could still not get a ticket.
It’s not even a matter of people whining over wanting things, RNG is just a horrible idea since it’s entirely possible people could get shafted like this, and I dare anyone to say that it’s a great idea.
You can have RNG in this game, but only if there’s some sort of way to definitely work towards the rewards, and no, I don’t mean something insane like one billion Zhaitaffy.

I do happen to like RNG as I may or may not have a chance of finding a ticket, I don’t care either way , Yes I desire one but won’t lose sleep if I don’t get it , Nor will i chuck a hissy fit that the RNG Gods are kittened
I also see (which I didn’t at first ) that some people have no self control and will send stupid amounts of money buying a chance to find a ticket. By nature I am not a gambler, yes i take risks , calculated risks though.
Perhaps the answer is sell similar items in the black lion for a set amount , but have the tickets for more unique items drop in world ,similar to shattered wings and the holo wing drops.
