No matter how it is made, an introduction of more ways to get precursors are going to lower the value. I see the price of them on the tp being cut in half actually, and more along the lines of the mini-legendaries, ie Foefire, etc.

Yeah, I’m still not sure if it’s worth going for an Eternity.

The pommel change was nice, though I’m still undecided on the firework sparkler glow. To me, the pommel gem is a good change but needs to be bigger.

The hilt needs to be different, either a larger, more elaborate version of the two legendaries that it looks like, maybe longer wings or something. Blade is fine; that’s what makes both Twilight and Sunrise so cool, but maybe make it longer too. It’d be nice if it was more pointier rather than bluntly pointed.

The switching is what makes this weapon unique too, but I do like the idea of it being chooseable too.

I’m still very undecided about runes:
1) Soldier Runes: + vitality and extra help with conditions
2) following the boonway: monk/water/ traveller to get the extra boon duration which I tend to enjoy quite a bit

My other dilemma…stats…I’m trying, bear in my crappy gear, to build a balanced build.:
Health – 16k to 17k enough?
Armour – enough around 2400?
Crit Chance – 60 enough?
Crit dmg – 62enough?

Any suggestion or comment will be highly appreciated!!!!!!!!

I didn’t know that the measure for good damage was packs of trash, and that burn damage was remotely significant for guardians who wear no +condition gear.

Burning is actually quite a significant source of damage with no condition gear. It has high base damage and with a few stacks of might you tick at around 400. It’s never going to be 50% of your dps, but it can be 20%+ just from equipping permeating wrath in fights with multiple enemies around you. It is good for taking camps solo, punishing rezers, fighting clustered enemies, fighting enemies with clones/minions, pets etc. and as you said burning trash mobs for getting 25 stacks of bloodlust in no time. Obviously, it is a bit hit or miss since a lot of the time you only have one target in range, but when it hits it is quite noticeable.

Also, the last 15 points in virtues give you +damage per boon (averages around 5% damage) and +15% boon duration (build dependent, for mine about +4% damage.) +9ish% damage >> +15% crit damage.

The only interesting dps ability in valor past 15 points is might on block. Like permeating wrath it is a bit hit or miss and requires shelter and a focus to make good use of it. For the type of fighting I do—taking camps solo, small group fights, occasional zerg fights, killing trash to get 25 stacks quickly, PW gives substantially more dps than anything in valor and I don’t have to take and burn shelter in the hopes of gaining a bit of extra dps. If you just run dungeons and zerg all day long you probably wouldn’t benefit from it as much.

…. you’re also forgetting that 30 Valor gives a total of 30% crit damage and that’s pretty significant, especially when you throw in other AOE attacks such as GS#2 and its ALWAYS there not just for 1 out of every 5 attacks (4 if you use Supreme Justice).

Power of the Virtuous depends on having boons up. You don’t always have a full rakc of boons up, so NO, the 9% occasional extra dps is NOT > 30% always on crit damage.

I’m willing to bet they were removed because the devs said they didn’t like how people were farming them.

There was no official confirmation, just speculation. They never said for certain they wouldn’t return, only that they probably wouldn’t return.

It was unofficially confirmed by officials…. if that makes sense. An official stated they would PROBABLY NOT come back. And of course, they didn’t, as you can plainly see now.

How exactly do you define “healway.” You can go 30 honor and 30 virtues without going full up on healing gear. The virtues line offers just as much if not far more dps than valor depending on the situation.

And the Virtues line is not at all a dps line. Sure it may offer a little bit of dps help, but it’s not what you’re making it out to be. You’re also forgetting Honor along with Valor in that comparison and the two lines are more dps beneficial together than Virtues.

I made my Guardian because I wanted a Heavy Armored Charr; they look cool in certain armors and especially that awesome T3 helmet. Why not a Warrior though, you say? Because I found Warriors boring when deciding which one I wanted.

You could of made a set of this cybernetic armor, it would of been amazing and had players playing for days and hours if you had a small chance to get each piece and then made the event permanent, I would do it just for the armor if it showed body parts being turned metal and such. Edit: Actually, I see a lot of argument about it being on too long. Perhaps buff the damage up fairly high, but at the same token, reduce the timers equally.

Yeah, I’d like monstrous features on my creature characters and obviously, longer claws would be more monstrous. I use the face with the long fangs (also has a tied goatee) because of this and have even extended them all the way to the max. I’d even like those to be longer!

1. Should be left alone. Instead of making it an option, it should be that NPCs that don’t have weapons in their hands have to run on all fours to match the PC.

2. Absolutely, and resoundingly, no. The hunched over physical shape is one of the reasons that make this race so distinctive in the game (so does running on all fours btw). In GW1, there was a reason they were standing upright. GW2 lore makes that reason irrelevant now.

Well then, I am happy to ponder and pontificate in my presumed state of ignorance. I always appreciate comments that are analytical and detailed, especially when some effort is taken to research before hand. However, since an interest has been expressed in performing a detailed level of analysis on the references I quote in my initial post, I propose that such analysis be thorough as well as detailed.

if you mean that magic find on equipment is being replaced by account based and consumables based MF, you are absolutely correct. Colin makes that clear in his statements:

“As such, we’ll be removing magic find entirely as an item stat and turning it into account stat” and “You can improve your account magic find through the account achievement reward system and from consumable items found in game”

However, if you mean to to understand Colin’s statement:

“In the near future, we’ll detail the system we’ll use to replace the existing magic find items. Our goal will be to have as little disruption as possible to those who currently own items with a magic find stat on them”

to mean that the the magic find attribute will be replaced with a different attribute on any particular item, that simply is not what Colin has said. They will be replacing the items that have the magic find attribute with other equipment. I can see how you may have misunderstood my original post, but I believe my question still stands unanswered, and unfortunately will until Colin’s “near future” becomes the present. If ANET simply replaces items, then will there be the option to pick a comparable item with a different attribute (i.e. my speculation about boon find), or will they simply offer the same attributes at a higher ratio, or will they leave the ratio the same, but remove MF as one of the attributes without offering any additional attribute change for celestial equipment?

Thank you for identifying this as speculative, and personally I agree with this speculation in general, although I have to wonder if when Colin says: “this new tier of materials will be made by combining lower tier materials” whether that might mean only the crafting materials (basic, fine, rare, etc.) without the base item for upgrading. Curiosity and speculation on my part.

This was my point as well when I said

“Exotic equipment will always remain of certain value for ectos and intermediate steps for new characters until they can be outfitted with ascended.”

This upcoming announcement will be significant. My original post was to express concern and question regarding these significant changes and their impact on celestial armor. If that question is ignorant or “trollol” in the opinion of some, my ego can certainly survive the criticism.

Actually, that response wasn’t necessarily aimed at you, but rather some of the other posters in this thread.

As far as the replacement bit, I read somewhere that the MF stat on equipment is being replaced with another stat, such as Boon Duration. Unfortunately, I can’t remember where I read that, am too lazy to look it up, and think it might’ve even been something I fancied. However, it would be foolish for them not to compensate for that stat loss.

I just said it will be hard to kill competent players 1v1 with it (as in, if they end up eating too much damage off your retal and such, they will be able to back out and you don’t have the spike or mobility to prevent that). I’ve been aware of this build for a while, and to be honest, I can’t say I’ve really ever understood it. It’s basically just a port of the classic sPvP support/bunker build, but you use it as a solo roaming build using dps weapons. If you’re building and traiting for support (the last 2 trees are support trees) with shouts and maxed out boon duration, why not just call a spade a spade and run staff + mace/shield with big symbols and go with a group of 5 and support em? For solo play, somewhere along the lines of 10/30/30/0/0 or 0/5/30/30/5 with more aggressive gearing would be a lot more effective at actually killing things, no? Got to imagine its dang near impossible to actually kill anyone competent (aka, worth your time killing to help your server) 1v1 with that defensive of a build (sure, you can kill upleveled bads with it, but same goes for just about any class and build + level 80 gear). If your goal is to just be tanky, never die but not be able to kill anyone worthwhile either, and spit out long duration boons, you may as well be doing it with a bunch of allies with ya and with real support weapons, no?

Quick side note: how do you ever actually hit anyone good with ZD 1v1 without scepter to immob them first? That’s like… impossible XD

In short, here’s the logical disconnect in this build: you’re built very defensively with great team support characteristics, but wielding aggressive DPS weapons that dont synergize the best together, and you’re using that to roam solo and try to kill things, not to defend or support things. That makes no sense.

@bigboss. 9/10. Love the colors and always love the T3. My only compliant is the actually coloring of your choice weapon. It’s purple, but you have no purple in your armor. Put a little purple in there even if it’s only 2 or 3 pieces and on the third color slot.

@Kiono. 7/10. You almost look like a Charr trying to be a human, but the coloring looks pretty good. Also as above with bigboss, you’re weapon doesn’t match the coloring of your armor. Put a little bit of yellow in there.

It’s one of the keypoints of P/D gameplay to be able to reset fights at ease. .

There’s just something so very, very wrong with that statement. One of the reasons WvW/PvP in this game is messed up.

4/10… Here is what I subtracted on: no shoulder armor (you should have some form of pauldron on that armor since you’re a heavy armor wearer). There is no weapon visible (I’ll bump my score up a bit depending on what it is if you re-submit a new picture showing it). And, finally the mask…. just no to the mask. You’re supposed to be a heavy armor wearer, not a mesmer wannabe.

The 4 points are for the colors and the armor overall. They look fantastic together. I had a similar color scheme on my Charr heavy armor but got made fun of as looking like Iron Man.

Needs more power, precision and crit damage.

Protection from hold the line and hammer auto attack chain (plus signet of judgement if you want) will basically serve as your toughness and vitality.

This is a balanced build, not a DPS build. His power and precision are fine.

@OP, I disagree with the majority of what is being said here from the other posters also, if a balanced build is what you truly want.

However, crit damage could use boosting, and if you’re not using the Strength in Numbers trait, I’d suggest a little more Toughness. Also, Healing Power could use a small boost as well. Depending on what tool consumable and/or skills/traits, you could also lower some of that Precision down. I think a good minimum, especially for a balanced build is 35%. Also, I wouldn’t go any less on the Vitality. Bringing it up to 16k hit points might not be a bad idea.

I also don’t think a person should rely on signets and kill-stacks to make up for lacking stats that you compromised on. Those should be thought of as a bonus and keep your slotted skills free for changing out to whatever you want/need.

Without knowing your build, other than it being a “balanced” build, it’s hard to give specific advice, other than what I’ve already stated for your stats. However, I would suggest leaning towards the Paragon build by Harbinger. It lends itself towards a nicely balanced build.

Finally, look over the “Post Your Stats” thread. A fair majority of the posters in there have balanced builds.
