The only possible serious point in my posts is that when I post, I roleplay as a person who knows and speaks to these races of Tyria while others roleplay as one of the races of Tyria.
To say I’m bias or favor Norn when I don’t even have any Norn friends (alts) is reaching. I much prefer the company of Asura, Charr and Humans (although I have 2 Sylvari alts too). If anyone’s being too serious, it might be you Charr (that roleplay as one and take everyone else as a stiff that can’t comprehend such a notion). Next thing I hear will be you giving flack to Legionnaires who hang out with humans. It’s all Renegade propaganda and you’re too blind to see it!

Basing this on in-game lore, I think the Norn are full of B S……. Boasting Skills. Seriously though, my Norn’s “legend” is a joke, especially if killing a large worm is “legend”-worthy, and especially considering you get help from other people. It makes you wonder about all those other Norn “legends” as well.
Besides that, the Charr would automatically win the fight at the start. Why? Because the Norn would be passed out drunk.
Actually now that I think about it, neither would win. The Norn would be drunk and the Charr would be too busy nawing on meat from the Meatoberfest!
I’ve contributed to similar posts in the past with my stance on the Virtue line, but I’ll add to this one too:
Power of the Virtous: Needs at least 2% increase. I’d even go further and say a 3% is better. This trait is too weak for such a large investment into a trait line. This will make it worthwhile.
Unscathed Contender needs changing as well, but honestly, there’s several ideas for a replacement. For example, give additional buffs similar to the 5 and 25 Virtues traits. Another example, for each trait on passive, gain a 3% damage increase on attacks.
And in general, I think there should be more options for offensiveness in the line rather than support/defensive.
I’m 100% behind speculating lodestones. They are going to go up in the near future.
The big question though is, not how much, but when?
I’m not sure if lodestone investment is OK right now, because we have yet to see how the new champ/dungeon rewards will result in lodestone supply.
Over the next few weeks we shall see the effect. If the supply increases significantly to push the price down, then I think lodestones will be a great buy opportunity at it’s lowest. If not, then lodestone hoarding is a good investment now.
tldr: it really depends on how you think the champ changes will affect the lode market.
After a few hours of playing last night in the group arena, I didn’t see a single lodestone. I’m going to give an early guess that these champ changes will have the same effect as the Orr Gem Boxes you buy with kharma. So I think there will be a slight drop in price…..
BUT crafting to 500 is coming up and that’s really going to hit the pricing market hard. I’m going to guess that prices are going to skyrocket to space then.
I don’t like this idea. As a cleric I don’t think it suits the class.
Mace and shield 100% cleric. Hammer still fine since blunt weapon. Greatsword… not really; but can pass as some sort of paladin. Sword and torch is also acceptable as it looks like a zealot. Focus also suits the cleric.
But anything ranging dual weilding, battleaxes, axes, warhorns, longbows, daggers and simillar just doesn’t fit.
Following the recent trend on the forums about everyone and their mother wanting to DPS like a warrior, wanting to tank and bash AH, i present to you, the Non AH anchor build.
Even without food buffs it is rocking 4000 effective power compared to the 2500 of the old school AH anchor. And this is excluding the perma fury buff, but more on that later.
Greatsword power is in there for sustain and extra dmg with greatsword, can be interchanged with scepter mastery when needed.
Strength in numbers gives awesome returns for 10 points.
Pure of voice and the honor trait line is simply OP
Improved consecrations is mandatory in any lvl 40+ fractals
And last but most importantly: Runes of the citadel:
- As anchor you will get hit…you WANT to get hit. As such you will proc it 99% of the time you are in combat, you will essentially gain 20% crit chance putting at a 50% crit chance which is arguably the “soft cap” for crit chance
Yes you could go for scholar runes if you have money to burn but as anchor you are never at 100% life unless particular fights.

you build is simply an “offensive” one (which doesn’t deal good damage) which is totally different from an AH build and it’s not easy as you say:
1)withouth food EP is 3886 not 4000
2)you will never hit as a warrior simply because your crit chance and crit damage are too low
3)rune of cittadel isn’t so good as you think… it’s easy to understand that a 5% chance on being hitted means 100%chance after 20 attacks… do you think you can survive to 20 attacks with this build? i dont…
4)removing AH from your build you removed survivability. Survivabily isn’t more hp… survivability isn’t more toughness… survivability is the capacity to keep up your hp… and you can’t only with toughness and base hp… you need boons… and heals from boons that’s all.
5)shelter > signet of resolve. ever!
6)32% crit chance is really really low and don’t consider a +20%… because you haven’t it.
7)56% crit damage is meh… a bit low…
in conclusion this build is a build based on toughness (which dont give us enoguh survivability) and damage (which dont give you enough damage) and a lot of luck to keep up 20% crit chance (and still get the same crit chance as a normal build without fury).
also remember that buildcraft said “3886 EP” because considers always up your “fiery wrath” which isn’t! and without this non-existing +10% damage your effective power will be 3533 which is lower than 90% of guardian builds, only some tanky builds have lower EP.

The only interest i got in celestials are infact that it might open up for more builds. I will post a 10k burst build i used in wvw with 5 celestial pieces that corresponds, statwise, to the build i mentioned above but it will be in “my” celestial thread and not for you exclusively.

Anet is running out of ideas pretty quickly here. I’ve been playing WoW and it’s been amazing not to have to wait a week just to craft armor that I want. Let’s see, Anet has time gated the achievement chests, the Quartz ore, the armor crafting, and I’m positive there’s more to come. Seriously though, play Guild Wars 2 for a week, then come to WoW and you’ll realize you never should’ve left WoW in the first place, because Blizzard does everything better than Anet.

I guess what they say is true, “ignorance is bliss.” You seem very blissful.
I’d personally like to see more monsterous looking minions with spikes and what not. Maybe a mini version of Zhaitan. I also like the idea of it being a tank.
Hopefully they introduce more traits that compliment the minions in general though.

I plan on still crafting my 2 celestial parts. I think it’s going to be some months before we even see the new gear and then on top of that a couple more months to gather the necessary requirements for it, (for me personally; I’m still working on my infusions for my trinkets!).
I also can’t help but speculate that one of the requirements will be the exotic version of the gear you want ascended. For example, if you want ascended Celestial gear, you have to have the exotic version first. So in a sense, you won’t necessarily be wasting your time.
I’m also excited about the changes coming up, but not looking forward to getting crafting to 500 or the 1/day stuff either.
Although I don’t agree with a lot of what you said, there a few things I do agree with you on:
1. The 1/day thing is extremely annoying! If I want to farm it right away, then that should be my choice. If I want to take my time, then that should be my choice.
2. Account bound equipment (can’t remember if you touched on this [wall of text dude!]). I did not like this with the current ascended gear and I the coming armor will equally be just as bad. Related to my #1, if I want to buy my gear with gold, then I should be able to buy it.
One other thing I noticed you said that had me puzzled:

Brutality, to help you out, I’ve heard there’s a chance at getting a full charged quartz from the home instance node. That might help speed things up a bit.
I still think that a mix is going to come out on top over full celestials. Have you tried messing around with that yet?
I think the wind catcher has the best effects, especially when coupled with the radiant armor.
Here’s what I think might be a good compromise:
Get celestial as your main color, secondary would be a silvery blue (to match the wind catcher crystal), and then highlight them with a verison of the gold color for the third color slot (to match the gold in Sunrise).
Make sure the silvery blue isn’t over dominating the celestial and gold colors, and that celestial is the overall main color. Perhaps limiting the silver blue and gold to a few pieces only.
Geez Hunter, why the hostility over Zerker gear users? Some of the people here know how to play with it and still survive just fine.
That’s not to say that everyone can do that, but unless someone actually says “Zerker gear is greater than all and anyone that does otherwise sucks,” you don’t need to be so hostile.
Spoj is right to a degree. Some people cna do that. Others, like me, can’t go full Zerker, so he’d be wrong in my case, but he isn’t completely wrong with that statement for others either
I wonder if that has something to do with the fix they put on running around with your main hand weapon out. Before it used to slip down to the pommel of the sword (the end of the handle) and looked real funny. If you look now while running, it doesn’t do it anymore.
Not sure when they fixed that, but I wonder if the fix caused this issue to spring up.

(and then, we re-work traits to take advantage of all the delicious chill we can now dish out, like vuln on chill, or chill on burn, torment on chill, or other crazy things).

It would be much appreciated so people can at least see if the build you started out with is optimized to begin with. This is really important, especially if you think you can improve stuff when using celestials.

I’ve been using one build that I know is very effective and haven’t heard many people using it. I was quite surprised to see someone here using it, and using it well!
I’ve recently tweaked the build even more by changing some of the trait points and exploring a new tree with it, but I’m really missing some of the elements from the original build. I’m still messing around with it trying to figure out if it’s effective or not. So far, I’m really impressed with the numbers I’m seeing, but as I said, I miss the other trait line I took points out of.
I’ve also tweaked the gear setup again last night and got that missing 2% crit chance back up to 40% at the sacrifice of some power, but not enough to deter from doing it. I’ve got 2 parts of Celestial stats on it.
I’ll think about releasing it sometime. But honestly, I’m a bit afraid to. I’d hate for it to get super popular and then it get nerfed because of that. That’s the pattern I’ve seen with Anet. If a build becomes popular, it gets nerfed a couple months later.
•Weapon: Offhand Sword #4
Name: Righteous Fury.
•Skill description: Grants the Fury buff for 5 seconds
•Cast time: 1 second
•Recharge: 35 seconds
•Visual effect(s): You thrust the sword into the air, a blue flame aura bursts out, and then you glow blue slightly for duration of Fury.

I’d also add in a #5, but don’t want to clog it with multiple entries, but I’d add in something with a crippler/immobiler.

Yeah, we have plenty of access to removals, however, I do partially agree with Rfreak’s assessment of Purging Flames. I don’t understand why it doesn’t pulse a condition cleaner instead of just one. It should clean one and then one again, and then one again if you’re standing in it. The burning however is nice for builds that depend on burning.
I’ve spent some time with the updated build calculator for awhile now and with my current trait set up, I actually ended up losing more stats in certain areas than I wanted to.
HOWEVER, I did mess around with a mix and match, which included 2 celestial pieces, and found something that actually increased all of my stats with one exception. My crit chance went from 42% to 38%. My goal was to always have a 40% crit chance, so going below 40 bothers me. I still can’t decide if I want to go with 38% or not, but the overall increase in the other stats is nice to say in the least.
Anyways, just thought I’d throw that out for those of you that are theorycrafting. Try out mixed, not just straight celes.

I would sell now. Backpieces seem to be the one area Anet loves to keep updating and releasing new skins. Heck, we know there will be a flower backpiece in the upcoming update.
Obviously, the price will always go up. But it will take forever and considering opportunity costs means you lose out.
But hey, 3.3G is an insignificant amount so if it goes even farther down, then you don’t lose out a ton.
Well honestly, I don’t have a whole lot o’ gold to invest in anyways atm. I recently retraited my main yet again, which means equipment addition/change, which also means gold drain. I’m one of those that needs semi-long term investment options because I just don’t know how to do the flipping thing and have the time to keep up with the trends. I’ve tried and failed a couple times and I’ve just been unable to recover from it. The gold I’ve been making lately goes strait to my trait changes and my compulsive min/max needs.
So any investment items I get, I’ve gotten from drops. Anyways, sorry for the long story there.

As others have posted, you can get near perma swiftness even without a boon duration build or the company of a zerg. If you’re needing mobility in the first place, it’s mostly just for getting from A to B quickly. Once there at B, its quite easy to switch back to your combat skills/weapons.

I do agree with your thinking of a fourth virtues. What you have in mind sounds interesting, but I’m not sure about how that would fit in the class theme.
I also think Unscathed Contender needs changing as well, but not what you propose. It’d be overpowered then. A replacement would be good that supports an offensive trait. Maybe for each trait on passive, gain a 3% damage increase. Or maybe give additional buffs similar to the 5 and 25 Virtues traits. Actually, the more I think the more I like the additional buffs trait idea. It would compliment the 5 Virtues.
I ended up getting a Sun Catcher this weekend for winning 1st place in the race. I’m pretty sure I’m going to sell it, but should I hold off on selling it until the value goes up? Last I looked they were going for 3.3 gold. I’m thinking the value will go up after the event, but wanted others opinions/speculations as well.
