agreed, i usually use the same traits over and over and skip more then 50% traits because they are quite useless :/ mainly fire needs a change, maybe even lower tier of air, not sure about earth and water… but arcane is quite fine imo

i have tested it long time ago, it have really low chance for a 25 point trait :/ its much better to have 60% on vulnerability from 25 air, arcane should have (almost) the same % chance, it only gives another conditions
maybe this limit is a payoff for more skills then other characters have, i dont think ele needs a weapon swap… and if you go to dungeon/wvw/party you can swap it in inventory
i dont think this is good idea, pistols doesnt fit elementalists
in another topic i have read that ele needs a buff in PVP, but is fine in PVE… this is exactly vice versa

what i tryied ele hits harder then mesmer underwater (except of illusionary mariner, which have something like hundred blades and needs to be dodged), so i dont think dmg is a problem
and on earth you have bleed on autoattack, on second skill too, add sigil of earth on trident or +10% bleed duration and you are fine
interrupts in downed state just promotes tactic and team play… bring some kind of invulnerability, stability, stealth or something else, some downed abilities are countered just by stomping in 2 people
everything can be countered, its just a tradeoff, as said
i would say 4…
thief, guardian, engineer and mesmer…
but in fact, mesmer is here only because many ppl dont know how to counter illusions, so if it should be 3, i would remove probably him
btw whats wrong with mesmers dmg and survivability? are you playing mesmer? i do and my phantasms definitely dont attack for 3500 dmg, maybe if they go full power and precision line? or phantasm spec? im not sure
anyway, mesmer have +-15k hp default, ele have +-10k and necro have +-18k, now talk about mesmer having too much hp as cloth prof…

yes it is, you can even use some utility abilities like Mist Form, anything what gives invulnerability or stability, there are many choices how to grant almost 100% stomp on profession with interupt
but many of them rely on cooldowns quite a lot
i played Mesmer from day 1, still enjoying, but now i got some skill while playing him so i try again my beloved Elementalist who was my #1 choice at first
i like it, very action oriented
but ye more modes (mainly deathmatch and CTF) would be nice, at least for fun, not necessary to add them to ranked (comming soon) mode, but in hot joins / free tournaments / etc
- You can use a extra Utility Skill in this slot (would be awsome for a mesmer).
add a reduced CD fot that utility and it would be awesome :P
learn to use blink and portal, its very strong, the fact that mesmer is very slow is the only thing that imo keeps portal quite balanced
mesmer downed is already one of the strongest, it doesnt need more buffs…

i can just sit on the ground being knocked down from hammer or guardian till death
1) mesmer can have maximum of 3 illusion counting both clones and phantasms…
2) if he have 3 clones, he dont have any phantasm = he dont have dmg
3) remove illusions = mesmer is almost defenseless
there are not many things in SPVP you could use influence for and still not break balance + you could farm influence elsewhere and boost yourself in SPVP… but maybe some limited Glory boost for a guild would be nice and not too much
as i heard iBerserker is no longer castable on wall in WVW, so its now 50% less effective weapon :/ sad that others can cast their silly AOE skills on walls and we now cant cast phantasm, which is almost the same… can someone confirm it?

you are missing one thing, not all premades are 5 man groups…
so what with the rest? because even 4 man group can stomp random quite hard, no need to say they need 1 random to match with them to get full group, so you cant separate them completely…
and if you separate only 5 man groups, wont there be way too long queue times for them? its free tournament, you dont want to have long queue times…

No. The reason is that mesmer has no mobility and in this game you get a lot more glory if you can move fast from point to point to cap. Mesmer is too slow, and standing on one point nets no glory.
i think both of you got the point and a mix of that gives the result
btw are results from hot join or from tournaments? result could differ a lot
it would be nice to add some glory to point holders, they are big part of conquest mode and they are not awarded for it…
i suggest them to get same glory as their point gives to your score as long as they are fighting on that point…

if someone do this, he will end soon stomped by better players, because matchmaking works with your rank and if he just traded it, he will be matched with people kittenally are on that rank…
^ this… and even thief guild is hard to beat, they have much more hp then illusions, deal dmg as phantasm do and thief can be almost perma invis… gg
balance changes didnt even begin, because there are more important things to do…
and they are working on ranked system of SPVP…
what more you want? it will just take some time but at least we can play more then once per month (hello beta tests)…
its kind of player skill mechanic, you need to think before acting, not spam the button till you get into range
its like this with all abilities, not just illusions
i think that 25 in Inspiration ( +15% dmg of phantasms ) is quite important for Phantasm build, because i heard it stacks with that Domination trait ( +15% dmg of illusions ), thats the core imo
so maybe 20 / 20 / 0 / 30 / 0 ? or 20 / 20 / 5 / 25 / 0 ? this could work for power/phantasm build

and i like casting him on walls in WVW
as thief? a problem? oh…
just go stealth, wait and watch for real mesmer… if i dont mension obvious bugs like no offhand on clones, then illusions never move until you leave their attack range and they use only first skill… so just watch for movement and animations other then first skill
and ofc if you will know what clones generating skills mesmer have, you will easily find the real one right after skill use
and mesmers attack faster then clones even if they use only first skill
PS: main nuke of mesmer is mind warck = shatter, other skills dont do that much dmg, so watch if his illusions are not all going right to you

im using 10/20/0/10/30 as nuke shatter build with S/S and GS (sometimes switching to pistol offhand)
heya, what do you think about illusionary persona? It seems very useful for shatter build.
im using it and its very good if you want to go shatter build
and you can use all shatters even without illusions when you count as 1
but Illusion line offers condition dmg and shatter recharge reduction (which isnt working maybe, because it shows the same numbers as without it, dont know if recharge is faster) so it lowers your other stats, mainly dmg stats

or who use a dodge on that loooong cast time skill
anyway, you need to know mesmers skills and then determine when to attack and when to def/dodge, mesmer is about waiting for right moment to do something and defend yourself rest of time by running/hiding/dodging while phantasms do their work
does Distortion length scale with number of illusion?

I personally think the mesmer isn’t too " OP ", I do however think the clone rate is " OP ". Meaning there should be a limit on how often a clone can be spawned. It’s not hard to keep three clones constantly up at all times during a fight.
it is, you know, skills got cooldown… maybe you mean trait which gives clones on dodge? and it was 15 point minor trait, then they moved it to 20 point major… a think it should be 30 point one… without that trait, its much harder to keep up clones
@sorrow: it gives much more options then 2D space and it’s not the only one thing i mensioned

feedback is everywhere, they just dont have time to focus on balance changes now, there are more important problems… so be strong and hope, i think their downed is very unbalanced compared to every other profession, so they will change their or others downed skill 2
if you dont have crit dmg, but a lot of precision and condition dmg, i would say that sigil of earth is good choice for you and maybe air/force/accuracy for offhand? or sigil that increase bleed duration by 10% could be nice
+ i would change a +10% crit chance of mind wrack to something else, you dont have crit dmg so +3% per illusion or +33% confusion could fit better
wow, complain about mesmer being weak in something? this is one thing that makes illusions balanced imo, they are single target oriented and not like pets, it would be way too powerfull if they would be like pets
+ it doesnt fit a profession lore of attacking peoples mind, AOE mind control seems a bit weird and OP
from objective view of someone who used to play ele, now play mesmer and tried to play ele again…
i think that ele have way too low dmg compared to other profession… maybe support/control on staff is +- ok with its dmg, but other weapons are more nuke focused instead of control/support and they lack dmg… even my mesmer who is more defensive does more dmg, no need to mention thief who have same hp, more armor, stealth, ports (this is why his melee range doesnt really matter, he can easily get to his target) and does 3x more dmg then ele, i could go on, but i think its not needed… and his downed state is heavy focused on team support, without team, ele is only one profession who is already dead, not downed… that doesnt seem to be balanced to me :/ poor ele
i tried some profs back in beta and used to play ele the most, but he was way too squishi for me so i switched to mesmer, who is still a mage-like profession and with more defenses… but i really like ele, his versatility, theme etc, but when i tried him again to give him a chance, he is impossible to play for me… even if i dont count clones (which are working only on noobs, but whatever), he have far less survivability and defensive abilities then mesmer (thats not main problem, ele is more like a nuker with his low hp and armor) and have even less dmg then mesmer (this is weird and main problem imo), its so sad they nerfed him into oblivion compared to beta :/ he was OP, but this is way too much… just look at thief, same hp, more armor, stealth and 3x more dmg… ele need some love from devs
