i like SPVP, but…

main problem is rating, matches are often very unbalanced and it creates sometimes much more differences then gear would ever do

after this, i would like to get some new modes/maps or even more armor models etc and a way how to rank up faster… in PvE, leveling is fine, but in SPvP, its too slow…

models based on rank should be a bit easier to get and more casual, with introduction of rating, there should be some specials things (titles, emotes, models,…) which would be available only for ppl with that rating, to separate true skill and farm/time rewards

getting items in PvE is already quite easy, you can get full rare equip for quite small amount of gold… exotics then from so many other sources… karma, wvw badge, dungeons, crafting…

and difference between rares and exotics isnt that big, so you can do “anything” even without full exotic equip…

so i suggest you to spend some glory on chests to get rank tokens and some nice items (wolf items are very nice at least in light armor category) and then wait

when you take this logic, i would like to see it vice versa…

why PvE doesnt give glory to SPvP? please? because “exping” in SPvP is much harder and takes much more time then in PvE… (just taking it ad absurdum to prove they are wrong, not a real point in this)

PvE exping is already the easiest one of all MMOs and you want more boosts from SPvP? to XP? or karma? you have plenty of karma from achievments and events… and what else? skins? oh please no, many sets are ridiculously easy to get in PvE and you must work hard for them in PvP and vice versa, that would destroy whole point of getting it in the harder part…

+ you must consider that some of models are MUCH easier to get in PVP then in PVE and vice versa… so it wouldnt be fair to take them from one part to another one

without thoughness amulet/jewel/runes, you would get hit with backstab for +-11k, you got hit for 7k, thats 36% dmg reduction, its more then protection buff, also it stacks together, so you can get almost 70% dmg reduction if im right… what more you want? problem is obviously in thief, not in thoughness…

One questing came up on my mind: When you have a rating system in the paid tournament, are people with low rating also able to get qualifier points, for winning the tournament on their rating level?

good question, i was thinking about the same… if they want to add ratings to tournaments, wouldnt it be a bit unfair to give same rewards for winning in low rating and in high rating? or what about wait times? its sometimes a bit long even now, what if they add rating? waiting for 8x 5 players with similar rating seems to be quite scary to me…

i miss MMR (matchmaking rating) so much… i hope they will implement it soon, because this is what is killing this game atm…

and i miss arena deathmatch from WOW a bit, small arenas with interesting terrain, fast matches, it would be good if they add it

ele dont need weapon swap, ele need changes… imagine a change to frost bow, it could be awesome WvW utility for D/D eles if it would be 1200 range at least if no other buffs… and there are more changes like this which comes to mind

after almost 2 months, we have got almost nothing, some moderate balance changes, paid tournaments which didnt solve anything and are almost useless (at least due to their wait time), pvp material transmutation which is good and … wait, what? i think thats all… i really hope something big and usefull is comming very soon and im not talking about custom arenas o.O oh god i hope they wont be next thing comming…

team who makes events is different then team who cares about SPVP, your point is invalid, if they dont do event, they wouldnt work on SPVP more, they would make something else what is in their team work…

hot join is just a hot join, its not supposed to be fair matches, its supposed to be a quick play for fun, for test or whatever… and autobalance stop working when 1 team reaches 400 or something like it, thats right

problem is that there is no other option to get really fair match, i hope they add ratings and some rated mode asap…

Well reveal is a mechanic in use and you see how things are. I meant give each one of their abilities a cool down like every other profession.

this… with two different ways…

1) take away whole initiative and give them normal cooldowns like anyone else have, maybe add something more to F skill to compensate a bit but please, NOT ANOTHER NUKE

2) leave initiative as it is and give them shorter cooldowns on skills, like half of what others have, 15sec instead of 30 on strong skills, 10sec instead of 20 etc on medium and 5sec instead of 10 on weaker skills…

Mesmer, dodge once then drop your 2x clones which also stealths you.

Shatter when he pops and off you go..

They are easy to kill

Mirror Image does not stealth you, it just creates two clones, Decoy creates one clone and stealths you.

And a thief can use CnD every 6 seconds to restealth

Blinding powder to grant them blindness miss the shatter and re-stealth

Shadow Refuge to sit in stealth for 10 seconds

Hide in Shadows to remove all conditions grant regen and stealth

All of these abilities will make the clones stop in there tracks and just stand there.

Name one other MMO that a stealth class can teleport on to you while stealthing themselves and deal a player 50-75% of there total lifepool and re-stealth every 6 seconds. I’ll wait…

this guy is right, how could someone design this without thinking it could be overpowered? and how can it be in game for so long without any change?

and take this and add many gap closers and free teleport which deal lots of dmg every 45sec, 30sec with traits…

now add a fact that not everyone have AOE skills or their AOE skills are very weak or with big delay or anything, so even this poor “counter” cant be counted in…

i dont understand a point of balance of elementalists sometimes…

he is very versatile, but it is compensated by longer cooldowns on attunements then on weapon swaps (15sec without arcane traits), in addition we have only 1 range type… along with this, we have very low dmg output compared to almost everyone, ok, some skills are AOE, thats why they have lower dmg, i understand, but why single attacks got that low dmg too? and why other profs aoe are not as low as eles? srsly, why? everyone say that ele is best support, but where? aura share 30 trait, arcane attunement 10 trait for quite short buff… and then? few heals maybe, but with 10k base hp its a must, nothing special compared to other profs… at every plus we can find a minus… but still there is disproportionately lower dmg compared to other profs…

yes i do, i love helping to win 1v2 or 2v3 fights or killing that stupid bunker on clocktower with trebuchet but they usually send someone to destroy it asap so i must fight for it :P what i dont like is when i need to destroy their treb and some skilled duelist is here and kill me instead

anyway, you dont need to use trebuchet, just fight 5v4 on field if you want but dont forget to dodge every single trebuchet shot or you are dead :P or send some skilled duelist to take care of their treb :P

i agree with ArmageddonAsh, Lord definitely needs a buff, at least that group agro of his adds, being soloed by thief who just walk right to him with stealth without even agroing his adds and easily killing him alone is just annoying…

trebuchet is quite strong, but its a big part of that map, many ppl in tournies even dont use it because its destroyed almost right after repair most of the time only mesmer on treb is annoying, but its more of a mesmer problem then treb problem…

there are no stats on spvp items if you missed it only runes, sigils (which are +- the same as in pve) and amulet/jewel (which provides much more stats then pve items) it means you cant take them out of spvp…

and some skins are much harder to get in pve then in spvp and vice versa, it wouldnt be fair to take it from one to other…

This is another ‘strategic’ class though so if you disliked mesmer because you had to think too much this might not be for you. Do yourself a favour and try it though

sigil of air/fire hits for about 700-800 with dmg build, you would need to do around 16000 dmg (if that 5% is from final dmg and not base attack) until next proc of air/fire for sigil of force to be more efective… correct me if im wrong

and what? he can dodge too and his initiative for heartseeker (or other gap closer) is filling faster then my dodge… and dont need to mention steal… whole concept of perma stealth and gap closer with incredible dmg spam is silly

to be honest, thief in GW2 dont have any negatives except low hp, but it doesnt count when he have so many invisibility skills, master-of-all without need to be average at them, definitely most unbalanced profession, even more then rogue in wow, so sad…

Only unfair thing is, when you engage the one lord as a thief with stealth, you won´t get attacked by any npc´s and when you attack the other, you add 2 npc´s.
Npc´s fail at defending the lord when someone is stealthing through.

ye this is fail from ANets side… Lord definitely should have group agro, when attacked he should call all remaining npcs

If a main damage skill of your weapon combo is (unintentially) nerfed by 60% and you cannot see a difference, you may have never been playing seriously..

i dont play mesmer right now, so i only read patch notes… what exactly nerfed mesmers dmg by 60% in PVE/WVW? :-OOO

i thing that most dps mesmer get with 3 phantasmal warlocks up all time, they hit like truck with cd of +-7sec, not worth shattering/resummoning them if boss dont attacks them imo

i must agree with MrQuizzles, skills are not that bad at all, but if you count in fact that they replaces our other abilities and forces us to do only few new skills, they are just not worth it… except elemental, which is something more, bonus to our standard skills, only one worth using, other skills are just good looking…

tornado compared to thiefs elite or necros elite is hillarious, thief have reflect, stability and TONS of aoe dmg, necro is almost unkillable, he can be focused by 3 ppl and still not die in that form :/ tornado is just hey guys, focus me, im gonna die soon only usefull moment is attack 1v1 on point when enemy dont have stability or lots of dmg

Mesmer utilities and mechanics are usually good enough to keep you from getting hit. I’ve found the mesmer can get away with glassy cannon equips ’cause you make it up with all the defensive skills. Sorta like thieves, I guess.

totally, i think mesmer is one of the most defensive profession even when he have dmg gear…

something like this works well in WVW imo, you can change Feedback for portal if needed, add full berserker gear and you can just go into zerg, deal some dmg with aoe abilities, decoy+port away without and risk of dying

do you see the difference why pistol whip needed much more nerf then hundred blades? HB works only in combination with another skill, just dodge it, blind warr when he tries to stun you, use some invulnerability, you have time to react

i though about two ideas…

1) my idea… add 10sec wave respawn, with 10sec “debuff” after death, when player cant be ressed by wave respawn… it would cause to minimum 10sec respawn and maximum 20sec respawn… combnation of old and new model

2) friend told me LoL uses this… add a wave respawn of 20sec independant for both teams, timer will start when someone die in that team, so the first death is heavy punished, but if someone else die, he will share wave of the first one… after ress, next wave countdown of 20sec begins again after next death in that team

i have same problem… im locked to chat of one guild (which i use only for pvp, no people there else), cant switch to the other, even after guild change, chat remains the same :/ this persist for 2 days now

you forgot to say Evasive Arcana isn’t doing blast finisher they repaired it did it even when effect was on cooldown and now it doesn’t do it overall

no idea, for me it was just do 3 fractals in a row (same group and without returning to the observatory), it sends you automatically to observatory after reaching of new level

Bad thing about this is.. that

PAID tournaments are sending premades back to FREE tournaments where premades are killing everyghing. So.. basically its not working well

whole concept of tournaments as main form is bad, it can never work… if you implement some rating to them, they will take long time to begin, if you dont, they will never be balanced, its a dead end imo :/ they need a bigger change in concept

i though rogue in WOW was incredibly OP with his opening and stunlock (not always ofc, in some patches, mainly in Vanila and TBC)… now i know that it is possible to make something even more OP

where is thiefs weakness? stealth on many abilities which provides defense and escape, many controls, many gap closers, incredible damage… its just silly concept overall :/
