this could be a problem of base rating… what rating new player get? average? if yes, we all know where is the problem
was the same in WoW when new teams got 1500 rating, they changed it to 0 and you should change it too…
we all know this is bad concept and with the number of active skills in GW2 compared to other MMOs, its just over the top.. only one who dont know it are devs, or they act as they dont at least…
i really like this game, even with some things which i miss from the time i was playing WoW… but the PvP state is awfull and the speed how they fix balance problems is even worse… dont even need to speak about a fact that 1 profession wasnt even played on their esport tournament, if that doesnt tell them something, i dont know what will… so im very curious what will next patch bring and if it will be fun to play this game again
i would vote for the same reward as from mini games… their concept is the same as spvp, i have no idea why they have rewards and spvp doesnt…
not sure if serious… he is asking how to catch ele and not how to catch warrior?
oh well, he dont need to catch warrior, because warrior dont need to run away, instead of ele…
as long as attunement dancing will be encouraged/improved, ele will NEVER fill his role of jack-of-all-trades, master of versatility… he will just continue to be use everything you have and then die… we have quite long cd on many skills, usually very bad autoattacks and are forced to attunement dance… due to that, arcane line is mandatory and a bit spammy playstayle as well, because we dont have many choices what to do… use 2 3 4 5 and switch attunement…

looks like something has changed and none was worried to tell us before the patch comes out and make whole SPVP community rage… sry if i only missed it in some comment, but it would be nice to have it highlighted somewhere
how about making a locked topic where would be only SPVP news? e.g. we are working on A, B and C, blog post about A comming in few weeks, balance patch delayed to x.×. or links to blog posts about upcomming changes… important SPVP information on 1 place

i play D/D ele atm, but the rage i feel when im killed by autoattacking ranger with spirits or by hammer warrior with 3 hits even if i dodge his previous 2 attacks is huge…
i really dont see some balance reasons behind dmg, hp etc… heavy prof 18k base hp, more dmg, self heal, control and probably even everything else then light prof with 10k base hp… hmmm…
when i remember what ANet said before release about balance and no holy trinity and every profession being equal in everything what they do with only the difference how they do it when i see the actual state… then im a sad panda…
You can buy a Belcher’s Bluff table from most vendors that sell alcohol. Then you can play with friends or people in Lion’s Arch to get the achievements again.
thats not a solution… there are achievments tied to defeating bosses and it includes Polaquai and use of his skill after it… and thats what cant be done atm… thats my problem… or is there a way how to find him?
EDIT: im not sure what happened, but i tryied to play Belchers Bluff now and i have unlocked all skills as i should have, so it looks like its fixed
EDIT2: maybe the progress is binded with character, even when achievments are account wide… so it could be my fault, im not sure on which character i looked when i posted it :/

that map wouldnt be that bad if people couldnt change their build specially for that map… thats where the problem is… not many people run usually build focused on knockbacks etc
well, you are in wrong tier or you havent played Heroes of Newerth or DOTA, people there are MUCH worse then here
so many ignored and muted players on my account in HON
i would prefer to have more choices… rigth now, some professions are not able to build certain way because of the lack of skills of desired type… also i like a variety of choices

more skills of one type is a consequence of trait system, which benefit usually one utility skill type, more a problem of design
An example would be a completely reworked reward system. Those are the things we’re working on. It’s taking a lot of time and hard work to get there, but the payoff will be worth it.

it would be awesome to have a PVP system which rewards skill instead of only time consuming glory farming
when it was accessible, i unlocked ALL skills by beating all masters of Om, even Polaquai… after patch introducing activity changes, my progress was reseted and now i dont have any skill unlocked and cant even beat Polaquai again anymore… how am i supposed to get achievment Flaunt it? i have 5/6 now and cant finish due to obvious bug :/

Ele’s are perfectly fine in PvE. It’s WvW that is the source of a lot of issues.
if WvW is the source of a lot of issues, then ele in SPvP is already dead, hehe
ele is quite fun, i find mage classes always interesting, but actual state of ele is focused heavy on spaming skills with attunement dancing and is overall underwhelming, you will probably do much worse with the same effort like with other profs…

flat arena for deathmatch in this game? hell no! you need to provide terrain variety to allow more play styles and give melee some disadvantage for their higher dmg
and this is what is wrong, in soloQ, new people should have 0 rating, not average to begin with… this way they ruins many games for regular average players until they drop enough to be matched with equaly skilled players…
in WoW, it used to be 1500 starting rating… and then they realized 0 is better, you dont lose anything when you are bad and lose against baddies and if you win, you are raising fast to the place where you are supposed to be…
he is obviously talking about WvW, dont take him seriously with his PvE equip and PvE runes
i dont think so… pets in this game have their own stats, they dont even proc traits with chance etc, rune proc is similar to it, but you can give it a try if you want
i dont agree with balance problems, you are obviously talking about hot joins, when you talk about autobalance… hot joins are just hot joins, they are not balanced, they are just matched together to let people play asap… if you want more balanced matches, you need to play ranked matches
but everything else is right
especially targeting problems (i often lose target for no reason even in PvE o.O) and rank points being awarded more for selfish players and hot join grinders…
downed state is why the nuke wouldnt be a valid strategy… if you focus your team at nuking, you can down 1 or 2 people… but the other team can have support players with their ress skills who ress those two in few seconds, or guardian with area denial skill allowing them to ress downed players, also some invulnerability could help focused player to survive long enough for his team to down someone and then finish+rally him… then your nuke team will become weaker because you used your main sources of dmg to the initial kills… also ranged control could become valid, instead of in conquest, where you are forced to hold point on the spot, not defend it from range (maybe except bigger group fights, which are not that often)

armor of earth, armor of earth from 10 point in earth and nuke her down asap
just start with some dmg, when tornados start to be too annoying pop up armor and dps more, after that wait for 50% hp and next armor and if you will be lucky, you will kill her before she kills you
Although I think eles (and mesmers) needed the past nerfs
none is arguing with that, some things were too strong… but at the other hand, everyone was expecting some buffs to our useless traits (and fire as whole useless trait line), you know why all dps eles were going almost full water/arcane right? and what ANet did? nerfed water, so we cant bunker, we cant even dps anymore and our dps lines are, well, not very good, only fresh air scepter is solid… its not an accident you see almost no elementalists and even top ele players switched to another char, because ele just dont have a place in this extreme oriented game (unkillable bunker or hard nuker or both if you are necro atm)
PS: if you nerf someone, you cant buff everyone else a await a balance…

what do you mean by items collected? keep them in pvp locker or salvage if you have them in locker already
Who said that? Their blog post directly states that implementing legendaries in PvP is in the works because they wanted to have PvP progression rather than just grinding ranks.
im not sure where i saw it, somewhere on the forum, but if you saw this in blog post, then maybe they changed their mind or my information was just a speculation
i think they already stated they dont want legendaries in SPvP, due to animation changes and additional effects
looks very nice…
but if you compare this animation to the hours you spend not by winning, but by doing some specific actions awarding rank points, its not enough, at least for me… :/
why does minigames award item, karma and coins when SPvP doesnt?
look, you play without level differences of characters, you play in SPvP armor, your armor doesnt broke when you die or something, its more like SPvP then PvE, so why it awards something while SPvP doesnt? or if you want, why doesnt it award glory like SPvP when they are almost the same? well, glory is useless, but only for a sake of this case… it really looks like minigames fit into PvE world more so they award those PvE guys and dont care about SPvP guys… they could add the same reward to SPvP too to make many players happy
i personally would like even to get rank points from playing minigames, so i could “change a game mode” and still get some progress for my rank and even new set next year (impossible to rank up after R40 in some reasonable time
), conquest all the time is, boring…

All PvP achievements should be restricted to Team/Solo arena and should encourage winning.
this, dont want to see people trolling for achievments instead of playing for win… just like daily capture :/ at least if it would count even if player dont stand on the point till the cap…

MMR is supposed to change over time, you could have just luck on enemies that one day, the more you play the more valued your rank will be
just reported someone for staying whole game at spawn, marked as scamming…
ANet announced something against leavers, but as usually, their system is only half made, so people just [ej ef kej] (sorry about this, but forum dont let me write it, no idea why) instead of leave
and yes, they can push a button every few mins so they dont get kicked if there some afk kick system…

interesting idea
when you think about new game modes, you need to think of them like a new map so they dont need to split queue, because we already have quite small pvp community… so free for all is impossible…
i would like to see some classic modes… team deathmatch, king of the hill, capture the flag etc
even conquest with different number of nodes could be interesting, maybe 2 or 4? or siege mode, where 1 team def and 1 team attack and vice versa in second round, team who gets further or finish in shorter time wins
still it works much better now then if they reset it just because some guys want to have bigger ego from win:loss ratio… if they remade whole system then ok, but not for this reason… just look at solo queue, everyone with the same basic rating cause very unbalanced matches until people get to their real level, no thanks, its enough to have it in solo queue…
why? system is build as he notice when you are better then your enemies and match you with higher rated players so you climb up faster, no point in reseting, just get a team and you can get out of oblivion to the top quite soon… and if you care about win:loss ratio, just one advice, its useless and doesnt mean anything

now we need rating based rewards and different modes then only conquest on top of what you said and everyone could be happy
btw good job with that random map, this will bring at least some aspect to make teams balanced for every map they can get and not specific for every map

might is usually for 10 or 20sec, weakness is much shorter duration so it needs to be more powerfull
a lot of other players want the blind as a viable counter strike, so they want it instant like “blinding flash” or they want it to have burst damage.. or both
yes thats what it should be… instant counter strike OR a skill with longer cast satisfied with good damage… not a mediocre dmg blind with long cast…
it used to work with +10% dmg in attunement traits, but then they considered its too powerfull and nerfed it to oblivion… so useless now
