maybe they just feel those legends? anyone can learn about legends and history, but they wont be Revenants… the difference will be what you can’t see, obviously not everything can be learned, you need some natural power to be able to do it…

making a party can force the system to put you in the higher mmr group if your team mates have higher mmr, but I’m not sure, you can try it…

mmr is not a visible stat, so you can’t see it anywhere…

I can’t imagine how could be immunity on transformation skill turned into boon…

you are an invulnerable mist, lose boon and now you are vulnerable mist? can’t work as mist form have also locked skills… so the immunity is already paid by something…

but I think that effects which are only an immunity will be changed

I bet the gliding in AA is just like a flying mount… and that’s completely different purpose than in GW2, so they can’t use the same principle

Revenants don’t enter Tyria, they are normal people who learned the magic of Revenants, just like any other profession

but the difference is that utilities of revenant don’t have cooldown as other utilities have, so you can’t judge them the same way… also if you don’t like the concept, just don’t play the class, I’m sure there will be many players who like it

Sure, self-rooting can go… but the skill’s damage will drop to about 1/3 of what it is now.

ArenaNet attaches a HUGE effectiveness co-efficient to self-rooting skills. Modest risk nets monumental rewards…

Like Blurred Frenzy? Which has a longer cd than 100b and does less than 1/2 of its damage? Less than Pistol Whip (which also has evasion frames)?

you want really take Blurred Frenzy as an example? really?! a skill which is half offensive and half defensive? and you complain about it’s damage? just lol…

I’m playing solo 90% of time and I’m usually getting quite fair matches, sometimes is quite one sided but I don’t really remember when I got a match which would end up like more than 300 points for one side as it used to be long time ago… so I think current matchmaking works good

did someone told you that not everything in the game is lore based? this is good example of pure gameplay reason… it’s not a time travel, it’s just a replayability of content… it doesn’t have anything to do with fractals or anything like that…

many blasts + fire field = dmg
D/D + celestial + dmg = OP

I don’t think valk is good without fury and enough vitality from other sources… you will be vulnerable to conditions without hp or heavy cleanse and you wont get anything from your on crit sigil and ferocity stat without crits (14% crit chance is a joke when you use on crit sigil), wasted stats…

it’s not worth to pick Zephyr’s Boon when you have only 1 aura in S/D, so you can’t get fury from it, I would maybe switch Sigil of Fire to Sigil of Intelligence to get some crits

1. Specializations for sure, more in-depth analysis what will be changed and what kind of change can we expect… because I can’t really imagine an alternative Elementalist class mechanic which would be different (not better, because specs are horizontal change, not vertical upgrade) and still allowed use of old skills with attunements, maybe it will be a bigger rework, that’s what makes me curious about it

2. Guild Halls, I’m quite curious how will they progress in size and look and what features they will provide to the guild

you need more inventory space? buy a bag slot and buy a bag, that’s the way it’s supposed to be…

also most things in your bags are trash which is sold by one button and others are materials which are send to the bank by two clicks… now tell me what would you like to sort? I was never fan of huge inventory addons in other games…

I think you missed that Living World is just a filler between main story chapters (Zhaitan and now Mordremoth), so the only question which remains is if they will tell the HOT story like personal story (released at once as a part of datadisk) or as a next chapter of living world (released one by one with each patch)… I would guess the first option and later starting a LW3 after the HOT story, just like LW1 was after personal story

As for how long the expansion “lasts”, a good bet would be 2 – 3 years. It’s been almost 3 years since GW2 release, and 2 years seems the upper limit competing MMOs (see: WoW) can go between expansions. I’d be cool with another one in two years.

you forgot to consider how long you are playing a living story content and not the initial release content (if we talk about “current content”)… so by “How long the HOT lasts” I imagine how long until we start to get new content / story on top of the HOT

I have recently tried some zerker S/F build, it has really INCREDIBLE dmg, I was able to literally one-shot heavy golem with knockdown combo, but it was just too glassy and I wasn’t able to handle it… this build looks more balanced and could be easier to use in a real fight, dishing out still enough dmg

you guys are really missing the point when ele became trash it was after the first (?) revamp of his traits, because until then he was able to have most important traits by investing mostly only for a first tier… after this revamp, most important traits were moved to higher tiers resulting in a semi-bunker valk meta builds… and then came the mid 2013 change which took away some survivability and made ele trash… also before the first revamp, ele got also a huge nerf of dmg, especially in scepter if I remember right (because scepter + earth signet was too OP for noobs, who cares thief can oneshot glasscannons even now and from stealth, ele had just too OP dmg)

it will take some time to progress the datadisk content for 100% completion, including all masteries, at least I hope it will take some time also the story will be probably bound to one or more masteries, so you will need them to progress the story, making it a bit longer… but I wouldn’t expect new living world content until half year after the datadisk launch (if the living world will take place after the HOT story just like first season)

If we get rid of hotjoin and get people to do ques, we’ll have actual match making.

why should we get rid of hot joins? they are for fun, sometimes you know you have 5 mins and you want to just jump in… if they would go unranked arena, they would waste 2+ mins in queue and left the match after another 3 mins leaving their team in 4, this is really what would you like to see? I don’t…

I do agree that season 2 should have a method to be unlocked for free, as it does continue the main story line

it already does, you log in when it is released and you get it for free… not enough? well, you can play the game, earn the ingame currency and unlock the story with it, seems completely ok to me…

could you post a build? I have some in my mind, but I would like to see what is viable according to you, just to compare and maybe combine them I would like to try a staff in PvP too

and according to changes, I would like to see air 2, 3 and earth 5 buffs… 3 and 5 could use some better ability to hit, they miss too often making them useless, 2 could just have higher dmg for this long channel or just reduce the channel time, also having a blind on a skill with long channel time isn’t really worth it, blind is supposed to be used actively for specific telegraphed skills, not like this…

it’s also even worse when you consider many bosses have blind spots… so you see all players on one place almost whole fight just dpsing the boss… Claw of Jormag (not sure what’s the current state to be honest), Shatterer (for sure here), that last boss from Aetherblade fractal, it’s not even fun to watch it…

maybe it’s not supposed to be that hard? compare it to any other boss except for Teq and TT and it’s still harder, so I don’t see a problem, not every boss is supposed to be super hard imo…

ArenaNet doesn’t care. The personal storyline was a failed experiment, under a model that ArenaNet itself said they will not continue.

really? I thought someone from ANet already said that we really want to have a L80 Sylvari ready for HOT, pointing out to some race specific story lines… this means HOT will most likely bring another personal story just as original game (probably with less or no choices as they said it wasn’t worth the effort, because most people pick only one)

you missed the point, I’m not talking about implementation because I’m not sure it’s even possible due to a character of the LS1 events, maybe they could add at least their instanced parts, but I don’t really care at the moment…

what I’m talking about is ONLY an image and text description what happened in that story part, so people who couldn’t play it could at least know what was going on, you know, story is important part of the game for some people and they want to know what happened between end of personal story and start of season 2 LW… because that’s what you see in the journal right now… personally if I would have been on their place, I would be a bit confused why is it missing in the journal or what happened to it

If HoT brings a lot of new players into the game, then the current system might start working properly, and solos wont meet full teams as often.

The reason why solos meet premades currently is probably because matchmaking can’t find anyone else to match against.

The current system allows for a lot more flexibility (solo players filling gaps in 3/4 player teams, etc.) so it’s premature to want seperated queues for HoT.

Might as well wait and see if PvP gets a higher population and the matchmaking starts working properly.

from what I remember my signet build was something like this…

and use it with some valk armor, you can mix a bit of precision into it, but not much, you will have perma fury

for runes I would go for some boon duration as this is heavy boon build, especially fury and protection, also might from fire shields and usual ele might stacking, but you will probably have less regen

you can move 2 points from arcane somewhere else, they are not mandatory, I just put them there for attunement CD and better survivability from vigor, but maybe you could find a better place for them, maybe fire and pick cleansing fire trait for condition removal, you could also switch earth signet for water for some more condi cleans, you have enough toughness from earth traits and equip, air signet is quite important as it is a def skill (insta blind + break stun) and that passive speed is also nice

I hope they wont give it for free… they already did when it was released, anyone could get it for free… if you missed it, you have to pay money or gold for it, even this is so generous that they let you buy it with ingame money… it’s more than enough… if you are too lazy to login once when new content is released or play the game to make ingame money it’s your problem…

I recently had to answer a question about living story on another forum and the person was asking for story content, replayability and if he really missed anything if he would start now…

so I think it would be nice if they could add the season 1 to the story journal… I know it’s not replayable at the moment, but it would be nice to have it here, so people who start to play the game now can at least read some story related information, so they don’t miss out on the story itself, personal story isn’t replayable too due to some permanent choices, yet the story is in the journal, so season 1 should be here too also it wouldn’t be so hard to add an image for each chapter and a short description what happened from the story side

what do you think?

living story S3 will most likely begin AFTER the HOT story, so it doesn’t have anything to do with HOT itself and no reason to be exclusive to HOT… on the other hand HOT story will be most likely very similar to the personal story and exclusive to HOT, obviously…

it’s important to keep in mind that living story is just a filler between main story chapters (personal story from GW2 including Zhaitan and now the HOT story including Mordremoth)

Then again, we’ll need to see this system in action, and I’m wondering if we might not see this applied before HoT hits. Same goes for the stability change.

I would maybe expect some prepatch as other games do (or at least WoW), which is in fact a part of datadisk content which will be accessible even for people without datadisk… usually balance, skills, talents etc, so people can get used to new mechanics before datadisk launches…

not really, your solution just created different problem… you obviously underestimate the number of conditions people generate in a big event, you would end up with a burning, bleeding and torment cap after a while…

also burning theoretically doesn’t need any fix, because it stacks in duration and it doesn’t really matter if the duration is 30sec, 1min or 10min as long as it’s up all the time… but from another point of view, it’s quite bad to have only 1 burning even when there are 10 people applying it, I understand the cap is required for PvP or even dungeons, but it just doesn’t work in an open world PvE with many players attacking the same target…

no, it will be count down to zero and watch what will happen, you wont be able to use one CC skill as now, that’s the main difference…

because viability of builds is defined by being able to kill fleeing target, right? because killing fleeing targets is what makes you win in WvW… cough, cough

Well I wasn’t sure if that only applied to new content only, or if old bosses will be retro-fitted that way as well. That’s what i’d like to know, how old content will be effected by this change.

it’s a change to defiance system, not just to some NPCs, everything what uses it will be influenced… and he said that some NPCs will have an effect which is part of the event (e.g. Wyvern) and others will just have some general stun or vulnerability window (e.g. general champs and most old bosses)

How will that new defiance work with Taunt?

Taunt is a CC effect so it looks like it will just take a portion off of the defiance bar and not do anything on a boss like forcing it to attach you. If that’s the case then it doesn’t look like Taunt will be very useful in PvE when fighting boss.

taunt is a CC in the first place, all CCs are not very usefull in PvE as you know… nothing to really speculate about here…

Guild halls were something along with GvG that anyone should have expected DAY ONE with a sequel to GUILD wars.

Sadly the name GUILD WARS is given by the GUILD WARS between the major guilds of Ascalon Kryta and Orr and has nothing to do with player-guild-based PvP

Obviously you never played GW1 otherwise you’d know better. GvG was massive hit with the playerbase and community. The way the games played out, the tournaments, the leaderboards, even how you could watch other teams play was masterfully done and underscored the game’s title. GvG should have been included at launch and was sorely missed.

yeah we all know about GvG in GW1 because all those GW1 players complain about it all the time… but the game is still named according to lore, not according to a PvP game mode…

this hurts only your ego, not the game, the point of the game is to hold points, if he runs away, he don’t get anything while you still keep your point, so you won… also some classes would be just too fragile without their mobility…
