DPS wise warrior is going to be top end. Currently condis are the best for high level fractals because of toughness and they are going to be very good in raids. Condi warrior has some of the highest condi DPS in the game (possibly the highest). I was showing it to one of my guild leaders who runs high level fractals and right after he said “Well it looks like fractal teams are going to run 2 condi warriors now”.
I like new always angry although I’ve read that it doesn’t actually work currently so that sucks.
Ironically Zerker looks to be incredibly strong right now..
I’ve been playing just longbow with only Torch 4 and 5 with opener. You can see the dmg here: http://www.twitch.tv/chevsya/v/24483076. I haven’t seen any build with weapon swap to sword + torch that will beat it.
Because you only use longbow you don’t need the 100% duration on bleeds and you can grab instead of agony sigil you can take a bursting sigil what gives more condi damage. Geomancy won’t work because you don’t swap weapons at all.
Thanks for showing off how ridiculous this will be in group play. It really is all about your condi CDs and how fast you can get them off so that alacrity is quite something.
Do you ever stop and think for one second thats not going to happen all the time or even most the time in practice in open world since enimies move and 2ndly that it could be bug.
It’s more useful for open world bosses/champs and raids. Maybe dungeons/fractals if you have someone else tanking you can go into the berserk rotation quickly with headbutt.

Theory I made up:
Mordremoth was in control of Caithe and wanted the egg to be brought to Tarir. He had us “kill” him and he went into the egg through the ley lines under Tarir. When the egg hatches it will be Mordremoth but he will have Glint and Forgotten power plus the Exalted will become his minions.
I really hope the story isn’t actually that we just ran into the jungle with no plan and killed Mordremoth when he had so so many ways to stop us. It’s like he’s a Jojo villain if it wasn’t his plan all along.
cant agree with camping longbow. Yes I tried it. the multiple hit boxes is situational.
Is anything else higher than one hitbox?
Try using Discipline over Tactics.. you’ll be surprised.. =p You’ll go something like..
Berserk mode > Primal Burst > Swap > Primal Burst > Primal Burst > Swap Primal Burst > Berserk mode expires.. (Use a weapon skill or Ourtrage in between when lacking adrenaline to continue the rotation.. it will only take 1 =p)
This can only be done by condition builds, power builds are unable to do this.. =D
From my testing it seems like Longbow purely outperforms all other weapons just camping it. There’s no reason to ever weapon swap. Tactics gives burn on Longbow auto plus Longbow recharge. I’ll give discipline a shot though because it does have burst recharge and quickness.
Edit: It looks like Discipline does less damage than Tactics but it’s still insanely high. it seems like most of the damage is coming from the extra Scorched Earth during Berserk so Discipline would probably be optimal on enemies with large hitboxes where you could get 3+ boxes on them.

A video chevs posted of what the DPS looks like in a group setting: http://www.twitch.tv/chevsya/v/24483076
So I’ve been testing the DPS of a lot of different classes and builds. I thought condi Berserker was rather mediocre from beta but I went back and tried it for fun and realized that it has the highest DPS of anything I have seen with a simple longbow camp rotation.
Basically do as follows:
Tactics – Empowered, Burning Arrows, Whatever
Arms – Berserker’s Fury, Deep Strike, Furious
Berserker – Smash Brawler, Blood Reaction, King of Fires
Sigil of Bursting/Earth
Some combination of Berserker/Balthazar/Flame Legion rune, Viper gear and food to hit 100% burning duration. More Viper also means more bleed duration. Probably an optimal setup but from testing so far they all do stupid damage. Make sure all your gear is Viper/Sinister/Carrion.
Signet of Rage/Headbutt + Shattering Blow + Whatever
Rotation
Scorched Earth > Pin Down > Shattering Blow > Fan of Flames > Dual Shot
Those are priorities. Basically do the first one and if it’s on CD go to next until something higher priority comes off CD. Try to position Scorched Earth so that multiple hitboxes overlap whatever you are attacking. Do stupid high damage and enjoy.
Disclaimer: This is more effective in prolonged fights against targets that are not incredibly mobile.
(edited by Mallis.4295)
Hammer Spirit Weapon instead of signet.
Sigil of Air/Fire.
Condi duration food and utility buff. When you’re making a statement high numbers look prettier than what might actually be more effective.
Not sure what you mean.
Hammer Spirit Weapon adds much more overall DPS than the condi signet. 90 ticks of burning and ~7000 physical base plus blast finishers iirc.
Sigil of Air/Fire count as hits for VoJ passive and are much larger DPS increases than any other sigil for burn guard. Fire on a single target is like twice as good as bursting.
Actually thinking about it Sigil of Geomancy does count as a hit for VoJ so I wonder if Earth does. Would be better for STDPS than Fire. Fire is amazing for AOE though.

I wouldn’t have a problem with her death if it wasn’t so stupid. Logan’s “death” in Arah made sense. He was facing a massive horde of risen and it seemed like there really was no way out. Eir just gets killed by one random mordrem and doesn’t even try to do anything about it. We kill the mordrem with no effort seconds later. It’s just more bad writing like how Mordremoth basically commits suicide when he had so many ways to stop us. At least that might have been a trap.
GS is fine in pvp if you don’t auto. The auto is really bad. But the 3/4 are really good. Dump 4 hit someone with 3 attempt to slap someone for 10k+ with 2 hope 5 doesn’t bug and pulls people into your wells/4 then go back to RS.
Just saying with Kindled Zeal you should take into account that it converts power which will be a higher number than pecision in the first place, and will get scaled by might.
Also changes to the glass burn guard build for higher damage:
Hammer Spirit Weapon instead of signet.
Sigil of Air/Fire.
Condi duration food and utility buff.

The post nerf Blighters Boon makes no sense and is contradictory to the necromancer playstyle. We even have utilities that apply conditions to ourselves, not boons.
Maybe the balance team had eles or guardians or engies or revenants in mind?!?!
We have a bunch of traits that give us free might.
How was Blighter’s Boon changed? I think I missed something.
I find GS to be fine besides the auto which I think is way too slow. No problems with any of the other abilities.
The pull is kinda buggy I guess. It doesn’t work like other pulls (doesn’t affect break bars or remove stability) so I’m not sure how it’s implemented. I feel like an easy fix would to be putting the damage/chill when the claws go out and have it mark anyone that gets hit then have them get pulled like Guard GS 5 when the claws come back.
(edited by Mallis.4295)
My thoughts on GS.
4 – Perfectly fine. Maybe a bit strong. Love this ability.
5 – Very strong CC can be dodged if you are paying attention but it’s not hard to land this ability.
2 – Appropriate windup for the ridiculous damage this deals. Actually very possible to hit people with this if you bait out their dodge rolls first or time it so that it slaps them right at the end of a dodge roll. Just don’t lead with it unless you’re in a group and the other people are laying down CC. Best combo with Gravty Well.
3 – This could have better tracking for enemies that move to the side. Still not that hard to hit with due to the large hitbox and multiple hits.
1 – Holy god kitten this thing is slow as kitten. Almost never worth using unless everything else is on CD.
Attached is a table of crit multipliers compared to 24% crit chance with 150% crit damage (i.e. full soldier with fury).
I’m confused what do the numbers on the table represent?
[quote=5713688;Serkit.7836:]
They fixed it in the patch like 2 hours ago. It works now.
Terrible story, so forced and contrived. We go to an Asura city where they research the elder dragons and learnt they all have a weakness …. no really, sounds more like we asked some fortune teller by the beach.
Then we go into his mind almost unopposed as Traherne can magically and very conventionally make a portal just before he is fully transformed. That was good timing ….
Not to mention that we can for some reason be stronger than Mordremoth in the dream he created out of nowhere. Plus we know how to use rifts to suck in blighted copies (really what is this?) and make them our allies. It doesn’t make sense in so many ways and if it wasn’t part of Mordremoth’s plan it honestly makes no sense at all.
This can happen if you get knockbacked into a slope also.
Completely agree with OP. I’ve said before Mordremoth dying on day 2 of “Heart of Thorns” Is like if Arthas was killed on day 2 of Wrath of the Lich King. If we actually did beat Mordremoth the writers really need to think about ways to make it much more convincing. Mordremoth had so many ways to easily prevent what happened so if it wasn’t a trap/plan that’s just some bad writing.
Or another comparison. Imaging if Sauron died in the first chapter of LotR. Or if Voldemort died in the first book of Harry Potter. What would you expect from the rest of the series? If Mordremoth is actually gone I will be extremely disappointed.

Tested Guardian got about 4200 burning DPS over 60 seconds on the PvP golem.
I found it an completed it. Wasn’t that bad. You can glide in from the diving goggles updraft and skip part of the beginning.
I’d like to check this out but I have no idea where it is.
As far as I can tell condi guard DPS is well past power guard DPS right now.
This exists in literally every game which have some sort of character “build”.
Do you think people just won’t try to optimize their chances to win if possible or something?
One of the reasons would be that it gives an item some prestige.
Yeah except most “rare” items in GW2 are just gold gated. It doesn’t really have prestige. You look at someone with a legendary and think “oh hey they farmed dungeons for 3000g and wasted it on a skin”. Not to mention the fact that you can just buy it with real money. The “goal” you talk about is just getting enough gold to buy whatever stupid expensive crafted item anet adds to the game with no actual effort.
(edited by Mallis.4295)
VB is pretty empty. There’s not a lot to do there. AB/TD/DS is where everyone is now doing the meta events.
I agree that the story was a massive letdown in many ways. I hope that it redeems itself with Mordremoth not actually being dead. Having an expansion called “Heart of Thorns” with Mordremoth dying on day 2 is like having Wrath of the Lich King with Arthas dying on day 2. It’s just a massive letdown and it feels like the story of the expansion has nowhere to go.
Aside from that the story was just filled with letdowns. Eir and Faolain die to some random mordrem for no reason that we kill with no effort seconds later. We go to Rata Novus to learn the amazing fruits of their research on killing elder dragons. What do we learn? Elder dragons have a weakness. Literally useless information that contributes nothing. Then we just go and bust into the center of Mordremoth where he practically commits suicide by letting Trahearne take us into his mind (why didn’t he just get rid of Trahearne a long time ago obvious weakness there) where we are stronger than him for no reason at all and somehow kill him by sucking blighted ghosts into rifts and turning them good (how the kitten does this even work and how do we know how to operate mind rifts??). The whole story feels incredibly contrived and bland. Mordremoth is like a Jojo villain where he has all the ability to easily win but just doesn’t for no reason other than the writer not wanting him to.

This has happened to me twice. Neither times ended up being successes but the first time they failed with MoM at less than 1%. I couldn’t get back in the map they were burning on platform 4 which was the platform I was on.
Only thing I want is to be able to hide your outfit headpiece without hiding your actual helmet
Give us something to do with excess HP. Maybe give some sort of passive utility buff for every point of HP you have after elite is maxed. Idk but that would probably make most people happier rather than having people who wasted time getting 400 extra HP that will have no use for years.
Why not keep them, so there is less QQ about having to “grind” them for the next specialisation?
I’m not saying something to permanently spend them on. Just something to do with them for the next 2 years or however long until another elite spec so they aren’t a completely useless waste of time.

Second best condi build is Ranger. Third is venom share thief (in a group only) and a distant fourth is warrior. Very distant.
Second is Guard (maybe first with minion changes).
Guard does Burst Burning while Ranger does Sustained Burning/Bleeds.
In PvP, Guard typically wins out. In PvE, Ranger typically wins out. It depends on Encounter Length and how much the enemy moves about.
Yeah but now that spirit weapons are actually viable they add a bunch of DPS that guard couldn’t use before. Plus the hammer is probably the best non-elite in the game for destroying break bars (lol jade wind).
We’re probably going to see something added west of Dragon’s Stand. There’s a closed door over there and I broke out of the map and got behind it. From the looks of it there will be something added there in the future.
Also I wouldn’t be surprised to see something get added to the peninsula.
Lastly that datamined map thing showed a map witch curved water that matched the water on the map east of tangled depths.

Pretty much all of them can be done with 2 people. There are a few exceptions if you aren’t an amazing player. Still enough that you should be able to max your elite.
I don’t get people’s concept of “worth the price”. They’ll spend $8 on a movie ticket for 2 hours of entertainment but they hesistate to spend $50 on potentially hundreds of hours of entertainment.

Rushed x-pack is why there are holes in many areas still. You can see plenty of cut corners . I hope that they use LS to flash out spec lore, add more text to npcs in the new areas.
People predicted for awhile the whole “Eir died a Braham gets her bow and becomes a DH”. Eir died and Braham got the bow but we haven’t seen the DH yet and there was a big cliffhanger at the end of personal story. Obviously HoT story is going to continue and we’re going to see this stuff.
Third attempt Canach in the Mord fight was immune to the rift and couldn’t be pulled.
After being forced to restart the instance because of Majory bugging out I tried Canach which is extremely broken. When Blighted Canach his 25% he became invulnerable and Canach just sat in one spot using his shield over and over and nothing would happen no matter what I did.
EDIT: Killed myself to restart and Bllighted Canach has permanent invulnerability so I have to restart yet again. kitten .
Haven’t seen this posted here.
-Majory disappears when trying to pull her into the rift and you have to die or restart the whole instance.
Also no idea how to get in the air the ground is covered with particle effects and I can’t tell if there’s something special there.
Sorry but how “major” is it? If it was a pvp amulet would it be a 1200 or 900 or something else? I could see this being perfect for Burn Guard since precision isn’t that great and expertise would be much better.
Played a good amount of rev in the beta but I have to say that burn guardian is absolutely disgusting in PvE. You can just run past groups of mobs and burn them all to death without ever stopping. You never have to worry about dying with RF and Shelter and MF. I got MR 23 day 1 with burn guard and 37 day 2. Permeating wrath is too good.
There are no other merchants for it
Might spawn after the event is over.
I think a lot of the Adventures are very poorly balanced. It should not be all that hard to get gold, everyone should be able to get gold with a little bit of practice. The only really challenging factor should be where you place on the leaderboard above gold. They have failed at this on most Adventures.
Especially Sanctum Scramble where I’m not sure if anyone in the game even has bronze.
Probably a different merchant.
On the flip side, condi damage is fully effective on bosses who are resistant to physical damage while the break bar isn’t broken.
Haven’t seen any of these as far as I can tell. Any examples?
Still doesn’t change the fact that the meta is going to be might stacking+cc and then a power burst if condis don’t get a damage bonus from break bars too.
The meta “will” require condition dmg
Hes talking about the raid bosses, those of us that could log that brieft morning to test them discovered that the new “class trinity” is: raw dmg, condition dmg, healer(ventari reve, druid, water tempest)
The second boss in that little piece of raid was highly resistant to normal dmg, and the last one swapped his resistance every now and then
There are also bosses that can’t have condition applied to them which is the opposite of takes no physical damage. The whole mechanic of break bars is centered around a power meta and condi has no benefit from it. Condi will be necessary for certain fights but not used outside of those situations.
