Thanks Anet for the mini’s.
I after say doing stuff like this, the characters birthday gifts etc…is sooooo much better than other software developers.
Can’t name 1 other software company that’s given freebies out ever in 30+ years of gaming…
I think they mean’t crafting ascended or mystic forging to get ascended as sinks.
Trouble is, they usually cost 100’s of gold too…
So its no solution to players with large stockpiles.
May just after right click destroy them…
They regard this stuff as ‘top tier loot rewards’, I view them as TRASH.
I am struggling to use up my glory boosters…
Chance are even through I have the buff going 100% of the time, I am still going to have loads left. Why not allow us to convert them directly to glory?
Each booster gets you 100 glory when you hand them in at a vendor. You still after spend all your glory of course…
Also, could you tell us what other stuff we need to use up before the changes?
I think solo queue and team queue should have the same rewards…
Why?
Because team queue is actually easier than solo queue…that’s why.
So why reward players more for doing something easier?
No Skyhammer, no spirit watch and better players on average makes team queue far easier than solo queue.
All you after do is avoid pre-mades. Basically when you come across a pre-made team farming just log out and try again later. They will eventually get bored.
Making gold in WvW?
You DON’T make gold in WvW.
World vs World = a non profit making institution.
Actually lots of WvW players after buying siege/upgrades, communal food and buffs make a loss.
In Season 1 of WvW I know some players who lost 100’s of gold trying to get there servers to 1st place…
It could be just those who have bought gems…
Or bought gems in the last 6 months…
Or perhaps the top 5,000 biggest $ spenders on gems…
I think you are the 1st…well done bubbles.
Any tips on how to get heirlooms faster?
Wonder who will be 1st to get the horns version?
The only 2 items I want from this update are both of those potions…
There are 36 piles of rubble that give you 1 each.
So that’s 36 per day.
I think you get 2 per full event completion (in the full 46 mins).
Plus they are a rare drop from foes, I think…
Any other places to get them?
I want to know wether they are permanent as well.
Its going to be a week before the 1st player gets one to let us know…
Potions of thoughtless what are those?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Meglobob.8620
Bumping…
Are the potions of thought/thoughtless permanent?
Also, are they in Black Lion chests?
I know it will take players around a week to grind enough heirlooms to find out one way or another but hopefully we will find out sooner than that?
Anet trolls its players often, so would like to know…
Its worth checking out once to see the intro and then seeing the loot you get.
After that its only worth doing if you want any rewards for your characters.
The only things that interest me are the:-
Ascended Backpiece and Thoughtless Potion. Everything else reward wide is TRASH to me.
I have already decieded the Ascended backpiece is too grindy and expensive in resources so not bothering with that…
If I can get confirmation of Thoughtless potion is a permanent effect I will go for it.
Otherwise not loging in till 4.3.14…
Potions of thoughtless what are those?

Could we get confirmation of wether its PERMANENT or TEMPORARY?
If its a permanent effect I will have a go at grinding them out…
But if its temporary then I won’t bother…
You never know with Anet?!?
When do u expect the lvl cap be raise?
I think after introducing Ascended gear caused such a storm, if ArenaNet have any wisdom whatsoever they are going to avoid raising the lvl cap.
If they ever do you will end up with a HUGE thread with players QQ about it.
What I see in PvE and WvW is people running the same few builds that works. This gets boring and dull fairly quickly.
Agreed.
Each class has about 1-3 builds (most have 1-2) that are worth running.
More skills means you may have to change your build. Changing your build means possibly changing your gear. Changing your gear after already grinding through one Ascended set? I can already feel the rage echoing from the future.
I think Anet might have screwed themselves here.
Yep, the way the stat system works, plus the HUGE expense in both time/resources locks players into the same build, never to change.
Skills, some of them are just bad, though.
This is true.
A lot of traits/skills we have are really bad, not worth using EVER, ArenaNet have shown no interest whatsoever in making them viable.
All of this has been done completely on purpose.
GW2 is mean’t to be casual friendly and appeal to a wide audience. So its ‘dumbed down’ to narrow ranges for the player to operate in. It also makes it very, very easy for the devs to make content for and balance. Anet devs love the easy life…

Mine:-
-Save builds and when out of combat switch between them.
-User Interface/visual display completely customisable.
-Expand wallet to hold all tokens in game.
A
Lion’s Arch is a open sewer, with crude wooden shacks built on it, populated by criminals. Whats to miss?
I live in Divinity’s Reach btw which is considerably posher then you…
You get to choose your own rewards this time from a vendor.
You have ‘tokens’ to spend.
Honestly, it sounds like the rewards are going to be good this time around.
2 lots of unique to WvW weapon skins.
Ascended materials.
Ascended trinkets.

go to Wayfarer Foothills (Norn) or Plains of Ashford (Charr), or any other 1~15 map.
here.
Easy way to get to all other starter zones.
Click PvP icon on top of screen and click on enter the mists.
You will see a purple portal with lion satues either side. Run through it.
You now in Lions Arch, centre of the world. There is a area here with 5 portals to all 5 starting areas.
PLEASE BE AWARE LIONS ARCH BEING NUKED TO OBLIVION IN T-MINUS 6 DAYS
What about classes? Which are the strongest?
Well, I have all 8 at 80th lvl with the same level of equipment and in truth from strongest to weakest there is not a lot of difference. Probably which you prefer is more important.
Elementalist is hard to play.
Rangers pets can annoy other players.
But otherwise its just down to your personal preference I would say…
^This is true.
Bookmakers would not offer any odds at all on WvW winners because you know who will win because of coverage even a month ahead of time.
Vizunah Square will win the Eu tournament.
Blackgate will win the NA tournament.
Because of coverage there is no competition.
Anet listened on everything except competition and coverage.
(edited by Meglobob.8620)
Nerfing the lazy way to balance things?
Yes it is.
How do non-MMO games achieve balance?
They have meterics on which skills are most popular.
Those they leave alone.
Little used skills they give tiny buffs too over a period of time and then watch the meterics.
When those skills start attracting players, they stop and leave them alone.
There’s no power creep at all!
They just bring up all other skills so they are around the same level. So you have maxium diversity. At this point the game is completely polished and they leave alone.
Played loads of games that do that, no nerfing at all and end up with a very diverse, polished game.
If you buff a skill but at the end of that buff its not more powerful than the current meta, then there is no power creep.
Yes.
I like competition.
The extra rewards are good too. Especially this time, we get to choose our own via a token system.
Currently, WvW is a little stale, except for the new EoTM map. We need something exciting to mix it up.
This is AWESOME, really looking forward to it.
It shows Anet listened to our feedback as well.
-The reward system is much better, because we get to choose our own rewards.
-The achievements are not going to be absurdly grindy.
-Different servers will end up fighting other servers who they have a ‘chance’ against.
The only negative is coverage still wins.
So Vizunah Square will win the Eu tournament, no ifs or buts, Troma will take up is warbanner and call the French hordes forth again…
Same in NA, Blackgate will win, no ifs or buts.

18th Feb. and 4th March will see the the last 2 updates for Living Story Season 1.
What I want to know, is after 15 months will it end in Epic loot?
Will it be as good as Nov 2012 where you had increased chance of precursors/exotics?
Post your guesses.
My guess is:-
A unique title This is good, I love titles.
At least 1 new skin We all love new skins.
At least 1 new mini Minis are fun.
12 greens, some may go rare or exotic depending on your RNG luck Not so good, I am unlucky so 12 greens for me!
(edited by Meglobob.8620)
Its good news and I am happy GW2 continues to do well.
Shows that regular updates (ie…Living Story works well with micro transaction ie…shop model)
The devs have access to a developers tool which gives them anything in game they want.
Dawn, 1 button press, I have Dawn.
Eternity, press button, I have Eternity.
They do not after do any grinding…
They do not after wait 3 months to get a item because of timegating…
They need it to test stuff obviously but there is a disconnect with the devs thinking everything is real easy to get.
That’s just not true. They actually have stated multiple times already that they don’t have any extra-commands on the live-servers; at the very least not any commands that give them items and stuff. They are pretty much playing like we all are; except that they’ve got that logo while representing the anet-guild.
I have video proof!
Just type, ‘guild wars 2 developer guide’ in youtube search engine and you can see the the developers tools in action by watching any of the guides.
I am sure many members of Anet play there characters normally but I am sure many have cheated to give themselves equipment too.

Welcome.
Chances are you will find its $40 well spent.
Read players helping players forum to help you get over the learning curve.
Also, remember that 99% of players are level 80, doing level 80 stuff. So the levelling zones will be quiet.
If you want loads of players around you when you level, you can level via World vs World (particularly the new Edge of the Mists map) or the champion train in Queensdale.
Map your dodge to middle mouse button and use it often.
They are mainly Warriors/Thiefs (like 80%+)
Grouch mains Engineer.
Also, 1 Anet staff member is godlike as a Ele, which is probably why they are reluctant to buff it.
The 1 Ranger player got, ‘let go’…does not work for Anet anymore…
My current fav. is Warrior.
Previously it was Guardian.
And before that Ranger.
I expect to move classes again after the next big balance patch to whatever I think is most powerful/best.
All except:
Ele
Ranger
I have been farming it in the following way:-
Log in as soon as new map starts.
Zerg all neutral champs, towers, supply camps etc…
Stay with zerg, slaughtering everything quickly, including enemy players until either zerg runs out of steam or you die.
Then log out…repeat 4 hours later.
Its very time effective and you get max rewards for short amount of time invested.
You have zero downtime running back to zerg…
Reading your requirements
Mesmer
Ele’s are squishy…also bottom of the food chain in the current meta, unless you are awesome at playing the piano, in which case you will be a awesome Ele…
I like it.
In particular I like:-
Resets every 4 hours.
Don’t after ‘worry’ about point scoring.
The PvE parts are good.
The mix of abilities, all 3 sides different.
A ‘little’ bit more rewarding than normal WvW.
The only part that annoys me is fighting in the observatory. Due to the particle effects you can’t see those circles of nothing, so its real easy to walk off and plunge to your doom.
So far no ones knocked me off a edge but I have walked/jumped off a edge about a dozen times now, mainly due to particle effects covering up the big hole in front of me…
I would like the option to change stats on my ascended gear…
With most of my 8 characters I took celestial trinkets, because I wanted a across the board foundation stat wise for all my characters and because it give high crit dam %.
Its going to be a much bigger nerf to celestial then any other set, so I would like the option of switching to another set of stats.
They did it for magic find so why not for when they nerf crit dam % by 10%+?
EoTM’s has (slightly) more rewards because you are not scoring points for your server.
Without more rewards what would be the point in playing EoTM’s once the shine wears off vs normal point scoring maps?
Really, stop being silly with nerf the rewards.
If you don’t like the rewards destroy them or buy some equipment and right click destroy that. There your now less rewarded…happy?
2 main things:
-The nerf everything attitude, its just sad…
-Blandness of the loot across GW2 and how there’s a disconnect with the devs and players over rewarding loot.
Why do the wvw titles even exist?…
So you know what impossible dream means…
Also, whoever put them together was very bad at maths.
How many hours (on average) will it take to level to 80? I think it takes me around 150 hours to 55 (max level) on Star Wars, but I have over 250 hours in on my Sorc right now. Someone said an hour per level!!?!! That seems REALLY fast!!! Also, as for buying gear as a “shell” and building it – No one gave a clear cut answer if that is possible.Mayra
Getting to lvl 80 can be very fast, if you want it to be. A hour/per lvl is about right on average.
Its possible to do 3+ levels per hour if you know what your doing.
There is really no grind at all to get all exotic gear, just do whatever method you enjoy the most.
Getting a legendary or ascended is a massive grind however but you don’t need either really.
There’s plenty of end game in GW2:-
Tequaltl/3 headed wurm massive 80 to 150 player boss fights.
Fractuals upto level 50.
WvW.
PvP.
Dungeons.
Achievement points.
Collect skins, collect legendarys.
Loads of other bosses to do.
Ongoing living story (every 2 weeks).
Gear wise buy cheap stuff off the trading post, I buy at lvl 5, 10, 20, 40, 60, 70. Just cheap blue/green stuff, you out lvl it quickly. But fully equip armour, weapons, runes, sigils, full trinkets (including sockets in them) plus buy food/spanner buffs.
Is this game still popular
Yes, at least on my server Seafarers Rest (Eu), loads of players…
But, if you need to level up to 80 via PvE its going to be a lonely experience because obviously 99% of players are lvl 80 now and doing level 80 stuff.
So if you want company levelling up do WvW (the new EoTM map is great for lvling) or do champion train in Queensdale. You could explore new zones, as a single player experience and do those other two if you want other players for company.
From the PvP menu, click standard, click play now…will send you into a hotjoin game as a spectator…then choose which side to join red or blue, if the sides are curreny unbalanced in numbers you will only usually be able to join one of the colours (usually the losing side).
If that game does not appeal to you then click the arrow in bottom right corner to leave and try again hopefully getting another game that you do want to play in.
You can practice your skills/abilities on the test dummies in the small PvP area without risk of death too, just in case you did not know.
My next questions…
As for “dodging” and avoiding attacks – This is going to sound REALLY stupid, but this sounds a bit hard for me as I am use to not moving around much at all. One HUGE reason that I avoid PvP at all costs and suck major kitten at it!!! So how hard is it to go from the stand and shoot to move and dodge?
Hi Mayra, welcome to GW2, hope you like it.
Once you get used to it, dodging is easy and good fun. I remapped my dodge to the middle mouse button. I am not the best dodger in the world but because all I after do is press my middle mouse button, dodging is really, really easy and effective.
A great dodger is someone who can spot enemy ‘tells’, graphic animations of when a opponent is going to launch an attack at you and then time your dodge so you avoid any damge.
You can tell you dodged something by, evade flashing up on screen.
Don’t be so quick to dismiss PvP, its great fun in GW2. I was very ify about PvP and avoided it for the first 3 months of playing GW2 but now 80% of my game time is spent playing PvP. There are 2 forms World vs World (a halfway house between PvE and PvP) and straight up PvP (conquest style).
WvW is extremely good for levelling, its one of the fastest ways to 80th level (don’t go in until 30th level, when you get your elite skill).
PvP allows you to have a 80th level character instantly with full skills, best equipment and costs nothing to experiment with any of the 8 characters. Great for choosing which profession you want to level upto 80th in PvE. Just use hotjoin to play about. You after do your initial story instance before you can go into PvP and play about. You can use test dummies that don’t fight back to practice skills/abilities without risk of death. Also practice underwater combat.
Hope that helps you and not too overwhealming…

One thing about the sigil changes coming in that a lot of players seem to have overlooked is they are going to do a balance pass over them…
What does this mean?
Well, from the ‘Ready Up’ it seemed to mean a few existing sigils could get small nerfs to them because they think 2 sigils slotted into 2h weapons would be too powerful.
This means in practice anyone with 1h + offhand could get a nerf to there sigils with no compensation.
2h weapon users won’t mind, they will be happy just to have 2 sigils instead of one.
As I am approaching the 2,000 hrs mark.
Never had a precursor drop.
Never had a ascended drop (outside of fractals).
Had perhaps 10 exotics drop in all that time.
Most valuble drop a dye worth 40 gold.
2nd most valuble drop a exotic worth 3-4 gold.
Mystic Forge
Thrown thousands of rares/exotics in no precursor. Probably lost 100’s of gold doing that.
Btw I never AFK. So the nearly 2,000 hrs is real active play time…
Can’t you guys just spend a bit of those thousands of playing hours farming for gold.
A guy is flashing his 10 legendary in the crafting forum. And he says he just farm.
If I had tried to play like that, I would have quit GW2 completely after a few 100 hrs, I need variety to keep me interested/playing. I can’t mindlessly repeat the same thing 1,000’s of times. My brain would fall apart…
(edited by Meglobob.8620)
Will ascended gear always be crafted only?
Looks like it…
Be nice to have some kind of token system but looks unlikely to ever happen.
TTS Kills Wurm for Second Time Back To Back
Well done…
But, what are you, the 10th to kill it now?
Also, Anet recently made some changes to the Wurm, I think they fixed some bugs/made it a lot easier.
So all that takes away from your Wurm kills…just saying…
Really, only the 1st Wurm kill matters…
No prizes for 10th, especially when Anet nerf it so you can complete it…
This event beat TTS in its original form.
TTS has killed the Wurm!!!
Well done…
But, what are you, the 10th to kill it now?

What I like about EoTM’s:-
-New map every 4 hrs.
-Completely casual map, pts are unimportant, as is winning, so whatever way you want to have fun is ok.
-Better rewards in terms of badges of Honour, karma, ascended materials.
-Each side has unique features.
-No queues.
