Two legends left for Rev, let's matchmake!

What if ..
There are more (either now or later) legends? Just like you pick weapons, traits, skills, etc before battle you would decide which ones were the best fit for the scenario and mode of the game.
I do like that they are mixing it up with what we are seeing and hope that continues. I would love to see characters from lore like Jora on the list of possibilities.
Why not even give us Tybalt and the other 2 contacts from the PS as options just for fun?
I prefer to drag all my junk into a bag at the bottom. Then when I go to a trader I just click through the list for that bag because I already know it only contains junk and things like minor sigils. I try to have the last sellable thing above be something that is not too valuable.
This gives me a chance to see what is there and a second chance when I sell it. It would be handy to be able to sort things into that bag but is not onerous to do it manually.
I have all 3 in my menagerie but out of them I prefer the guardian the least. Great in levels 1-79 but level 80 content? Meh. The lack of the ranged weapon (with the exception of a slow scepter) kills the fun for me. If HOT’s only change was to give the guardian a longbow (with the same skills as the ranger) I would be happy.
Out of the other 2 I would pick the engineer. The elementalist is great (I like using a staff for boss battles: good damage with a quick swap to remote healing) but will go down fast when hit due to light ‘armor’.
BTW, for more data, my machine is fully specced out. It is an iMac, so that means putting up with cider and an underpowered nvidia though. I would not try to put it against custom gaming rigs but it is more than a match for the average PC people use and have no problems with. Get a load of some of the specs:
late model machine
The fastest CPU and GPU apple offers in iMacs
24 GB of memory
SSD boot drive
3 GB hard drive
not relevant to operation: a huge monitor and multiple backup systems
After finding a bug in the OS I was able to get to tier 2 support (yes, I got the person’s direct contact info) and was told not to tell the genius bar what I wanted to do because it was not ‘officially’ doable (even though we both agreed it would work). Ironically the solution, which I knew in advance, was in an old version of the OS that I did not have a copy of at the time. I sort of know what I am doing.
Yeah, but I’ve been playing GW2 for YEARS. Since 2012 or 2013. I’ve been doing world bosses for over a year now and this is the first time it’s happened. :/ Though, I have noticed my fan is not keeping my computer cool. Could that be a problem?
Also, I’ve heard about a memory leak problem going around? Is that still an issue?
The fan could be a problem. Your cpu and gpu will be overheating and causing all sorts of fun problems.
What was strange for me when the graphics-related settings started to happen was that it had been working fine with crowded events beforehand. It was not an old machine either so it was not that the memory requirements or whatever had grown too large for me to handle.
I noticed that if you’re on the world boss train, and constantly changing maps, the game’s memory use builds up considerably, till it reaches a limit where the computer says ‘game over’ and crashes, thereby resetting things. I suspect it’s partly a case of graphics card setting. Lower them a bit and you’ll do better. You can also simply reboot before going to big events where you often crash (for me Taidha, Megadestroyer and Teq).
Yes, I used to have major crashes until I worked out it was graphics settings and drastically lowered them. I keep meaning to work out which one(s) I can safely raise again but I am having way to much fun.
A crash with a rollback though is a different issue, which only started happening recently. That speaks to a server-side problem.
I got d/ced from Teq today, and then 2 hours later, from Golem Mark II. I had a group for Mark II, and I was able to return to the original map when it was almost dead, and… I didn’t get any credit.
Is anyone else having d/c issues when fighting a world boss?
There was a rash of it awhile ago. A whole bunch of us got disconnected as soon as we were done with the daily (the shatterer), lost our loot, still had that daily in our todo list, and were where we were before going there … which looked like a rollback of some sort.
I am guessing it has to do with too many characters in the same place but I had never seen it happen before with many people all in a boss fight. Maybe something changed on the servers (and/or their network) that is more sensitive to that?
Remember my mentioning Cybele? That is evidence right there of gender identity going WELL before the middle ages!
Interesting that someone should bring up that it does not follow that same sex relationships does not mean gender identity gets coverage as well. At least in the US the ‘pioneers’ for what became the gay pride movement were trans people. I would not be shocked if it was the same in other societies as well.
Yeah, I don’t know what is happening with the post deletion, here, Menadena.
Some of my replies have gone, too.
Reply number 3 or 4 from when the thread was created (which was very hateful) got moded. Every message quoting said reply gets deleted too as to not leave it in the thread.
Interesting, the post I quoted was positive and they were quoting something that was, if I remember correctly, misinformed rather than hateful.
I agree it needs to be done correctly. For example, one way would be to have them do important things in lore both before and after their transition. One source for inspiration could come from mythology … Cybele is one example.
One of my posts was just deleted because I quoted someone. Okay, without quoting then.
As was said, being trans does not require surgery. We do have magic everywhere and there is high-tech via the asura if someone needed to do a full transition though.
With the news that Bruce Jenner is now known as Caitlyn Jenner, and the fact that people are becoming more comfortable with alternative lifestyles, perhaps it’s time for Guild Wars 2 to have a Transgender character in the storyline.
I like the idea (full disclosure: I am transgendered). It is just a matter of finding the right way to do it. One way is via lore for a character’s backstory: next to nothing to implement and those that did not want the content could easily avoid that part of the backstory. There is at least one big LGBT guild and who would have even more idea.
Problem with RW game merch is that not company wants to be stuck with inventory. Which is why they might have shirts at launch but choose not to restock once supplies are gone.
Simple solution to that. Use cafepress or such.
I just looked at the Shop and there are slim pickings when it comes to merch. Aside from an awesome-looking Charr plush, we just have a few novels, an art book and a strategy guide.
Plus the Charr is not Tybalt!!!!!
I was debating extra bag slots … until I found out they were for a character not an account. My ranger may need the space now but it could be my engineer next month.
They may be account/soul bound and not be saleable. Examples of this are items received from the level up chests.
Yes, unfortunately you can not sell dragonite ore to a vendor.

leveling an alt
exploring and doing hearts
dailies as fast as possible
Hearts were only ever meant to be a way to lure people near where events occur. They don’t need to be “fun,” they aren’t intended to be main attractions.
HUH?
Most events have a pretty well-defined script and are not exactly exciting. I would not call them a main attraction!
I wonder if it’s just me but types of human female body are either like from surgeon table or just weird. Almost all of thin ones have almost no diffrence (more round butt, bigger boobs even if they are alrdy big or legs like sticks) and more thick ones looks just……can’t even find a word. Is there any chance to get a normal thin body type with SMALL boobs like from thicker models? Or just add options to set a size/thickness of parts of body (not so extreme as in Aion) . I know it is fantasy game but i don’t think asura technology alrdy doing plastic surgery to make a thin body with double D size. Don’t know how situation looks with other races but it’s a thing which annoys me every time i open makeover kit.
Reason 82439227 not to play a hewman. Unfortunately many RPGs do not allow for the wide range of realistically proportioned people.
In things like second life you get more control of your avatar’s shape so I like it to reflect natural proportions. Some people go the other way though and essentially wear 2 beach balls on their chests because the breast sliders do not go high enough.
I would like templates for everything that I can swap out of combat. Traits, gear, weapons, skills (including being able to set water skills before I go in the water). On all classes.
That is what I was thinking as well yesterday. A build/template of my available stuff so I would not have to go 20 places just to get everything reset to where I want it.
“Okay, I am ready to fight teq now with my dagger settings … oh kitten.”
I can see (although I do not agree with) them disallowing swapping with the ele. The engineer though? I never use my toolbelt.
I love this one, go to LA, join a southun survival game, afk for a few minutes and get a free daily reward.
I love dying as soon as I can in that one. Then I can wander around setting traps without the fear of getting killed again.
The activity always confuses me. It takes up time but it does not matter if you win or die to get credit.
edit: dual fractals? There is only one of them running today. Where are you seeing 2?
Mwolves are nothing. The ones with sooper speed are the te-itiswaytooearlytothinkofhowtospellthem. They can be far away and suddenly I will find myself looking up at their tusks (or whatever you would call them).
“Only 5 seconds until the attacks stop and nobody near so I guess I can breathe no… oh kitty-kat!”
I’d like to know how much people have spent on buying Gems.
Any idea/guess on how much in total?I believe I’ve spent quite alot myself
I do not even want to know. I would guess it would average out to 15$ a month.
Caithe’s Bloom Dagger isn’t on the list. It didn’t have a time limit before but now it says it’s only available for 7 more days just like everything you mentioned.
Nice!
I snapped it up and the pirate outfit, slapped the skin on a couple of exotic daggers, and now my red-skinned sylvari ele is wandering looking for things to attack.
Instances in PVE? Great Odin no!!!!
I see GW2 as a social game. Part of that is I can join in on an event in progress or someone else may join in on one I am already at.
BTW. another hint is to know when an event will fail and walk away. Are there too few people? Are they organized (how many commander tags are there)? Do you see things happening like bone walls with Teq? If so walk away and have fun somewhere else while the people there die.
Generally I have characters that ‘specialize’ in certain bosses. Well, any can do Covington. This allows me to get used to what skills I have at my command for what bosses. They also have specific territories they ‘specialize’ in covering but that is mostly so completions are easier.
Sylari elementalist (staff) – Teq
Asura Engineer – Jormag and all the 2-hour-respawn low level bosses
Charr Guardian – Shatterer
Charr Ranger – everything else (the only one for SW enemies)
I feel as though the fight itself has had no real testing from Quality Assurance.
It is frustrating to fight a boss monster who has the ability to spam a damage fear ability more than 5 times in 15 seconds of combat. Even when utilizing the fastest cooldown heal, there is absolutely NO way (as an ele) to survive parts of the Jormag fight.During phase changes, the boss retreats to positions where it is readily able to damage the raid, but yet almost all of my abilities (except for auto attack) can’t even reach him, unless I would consider suicide running into the frost areas to land a few attacks.
Whoever designed these fights really needs to re-evaluate what they think is a fun fight.
I am also bothered by the fact that I am forced to write this in a way that wouldn’t hurt a child’s feelings. Knowing that Anet can sack my account if I were to actually say what’s on my mind is quite frankly, crap. I wanted to come in here and absolutely torch devs and QA teams, who, for the most part, hide behind a service agreement and use it as an excuse to ban people who do not believe that they are doing a good job.
I am guessing you never have fought teq or TT if you think Jormag is bad?
I would LOVE to get the mad scientist but have to agree with one of the Dulfy comments. The straps on the helmet look like a mustache. Which looks terrible on a female character.
Yes, I know I could turn off the headpiece. However the headpiece (minus the straps) is why it would be perfect for an engineer.
Hooray!!!! I finally got my first level 80 character after 130 hours (129 hrs 33 mins to be exact) of gameplay. I leveling through exploration, a little sPvP and a little WvW. I didn’t use any booster or any tome of knowledge. Judging from the forum posts, I might be the slowest level 80 EVAR (among the actively leveling players). However, I learnt that “level” in GW2 is not the same “level” I used to know from other MMORPGs, so I am going to share some other parameters of my character.
That is right in the ballpark. Figure about an hour and a half per level (more or less depending on your play style). That is for ‘normal’ play and not doing things like tomes or any other power leveling technique. Since GW2 has dynamic downleveling in the PVE content (and everyone is pretty much the same in WVW and PVP) there is less of a reason to be at max level than there is in most MMORPGs. The result is it is as much about the journey as the destination.
That will probably change though. With HOT requiring 80s, having a new profession out people are drooling over, and getting 10 (or 16) tomes per month I suspect you will start seeing a lot of level 80 revenants within minutes of the release.
A lot of people will go on and on about not being a ‘serious’ player if you take the amount of time to level that anet expects it will take. My normal response to them is ‘lioness you’.
Elementalists are getting sword. And I for one am not happy about it. To me, elementalists should blast their enemies from afar, not be up-close in combat. To me, that’s more like guardian or warrior sort of playstyle.
I would have liked to have seen greatsword or longbow for ele, but that’s not going to happen, so I just won’t use the ele specialisation, that’s all.
I guess you haven’t equipped a dagger yet?
I would need to look equip d/d to find out why I did not care for it but I preferred staff.
Eek!
Who the hell says “eek” in a sentence?
Me?
I love gw2, and i still enter to do my dailyes
Or just log in to collect your login reward. I have taken the attitude towards dailies that if I want to take a break from them now and then it is no big deal and I skip it. I can just spend that time in the SW, rack up treasure and crests, and maybe even get an achieve or a title by being in the right place at the right time and getting a shot in at a legendary.

Argghh! Man I hate people who say this crap! Elite specs so far change the core profession and take it on a slight diff path then they stereotyped to be. Swords are fine. Battle wizard style would be really cool!
Fun trivia! Gandalf uses a sword!
Eek! Eles are light armor and are glass cannons. There is a good reason everyone keeps them far from the battle when they can. It is also why myself and a friend cover our elementals in anything that will give a speed boost.
Make them at least a medium armor and I would think about a melee weapon. If not …
At least Lion’s Arch if nothing else. When the poll went out anet said ‘sometime in the next two months you will wake up and…’. Note that was a week or so ago.
Because of the numbers pointed out (who do you recognize and not recognize) above I was thinking of incorporating it into whatever is the field of the fallen. Another monument, including players somehow, whatever.
Then inspiration struck. Not only would it show individuals in some way but it would be very little work on anet’s part.
Include in the lore a group of phoenixes (or some other appropriate creature) beyond the mists. All it would take to entrench it is an occasional mention from NPCs in the living story, whose dialogue has not been created yet anyway. If anet does not do it, the players themselves could spread the concept as an ‘unofficial’ bit of the lore.
I am not sure of the best way for players to do it but you could start with various boards and blogs. Eventually anet may pick it up as cheap PR.
Roll several different ones and try to keep your playtime with each one even. You will sort out which ones you love playing and which ones you loathe in short order.
Honestly I like all of them except sylvari male (“huuuuuurgh! huurgh!” when jumping).
Nolan North ftw!
The asuran female when jumping is fun though. It is like she is trying to use her voice to give an added boost. Hmmph!
Mini Fox, just look how he swim
Cool! I knew teq hand both a flying and underwater animation but did not realize the fox had one. On a whim I bought one of the wintersday 3-packs (the only pack I have bought) and the arctic fox was in it (which dissapears underwater).
My alt account has a mini rytlock as well. Which I bought on sale and use because it is just so hilarious to see a mini that is almost as big as the player.
I have a list and most are tied to accomplishments of one sort or another.
My mini of Teq came from getting it in a drop there. I do the teq battle a LOT so my ele proudly wears a sunbringer title.
After tybalt died I bought a Tybalt mini to remember him.
When I reached my first >1000 bandit crests I traded them for a mini mordem husk. Not because I especially liked it, but to remove the temptation of buying it when I was working on my armor sets.
During wintersday I did the gift train a LOT (my ele practically lived there). One of them dropped a mini ho-ho-ho-o-tron which went to my asura engineer. I also got my scritta claus mini then.
During a sale I upgraded my copy of GW2. Most of the stuff was pretty pointless, but I did it solely to get a rytlock mini (to lay in wait for my revenant).
After all of my 80s did Ft Trinity in their PS I decided to treat myself. While ‘shards of orr’ was depressing I was touched by the scene between Caithe and Faolain. One guess what 2 minis I bought?
I do not think of myself as a mini collector. More using them to mark something or other that I did in GW2.
Supply and demand. They hype up demand, by not having supply.
Bunny ears are going to sell like hotcakes when they come back.
Exactly. Having a discontinued item (a mini or skin) is regarded as a sort of status symbol. So if you start selling it you get a flood of people buying it. Although you have to bear in mind you have devalued the item now.
I would love to see them be alliances. This would also cut down on how many instances anet has to support. Let there be a finite number of halls and have their competition being how many people could be members. Let them pool their resources for stuff.
For those of us in multiple guilds it would be GREAT to have the different guilds work together on something. Plus our friends in the different ones would have a context to meet when we are not around.
I cant’ believe running around pressing f on chest is the most interesting and fun way to play the game.
I think I’m getting too old for mmorpg.
If that is all you are doing in the SW you are doing it wrong.
Run around getting involved in as many events as possible. Do the VW. If you come across a dug up chest in your travels, open it, but that is not the end all and be all of the SW.
On a side note, I’ll never understand players who can’t stand still for a second. They’re constantly running and jumping, and spamming effects, even in a small area, or when running somewhere, they’re constantly jumping along the way. It doesn’t hurt my gameplay in any way, shape, or form, but I always think to myself “WTF are they doing?”
I am rarely still unless I am in a city or a known safe space (like a fort that does not have an event spawn in it). Why? Because you never know when enemies will attack you and if it is from behind you will probably have 0 warning.
Try standing still in the silverwastes out in the open. For added points, leave your computer for a few minutes and go for a walk. You will see what I mean pretty quickly.
What do I do now?
I want to start moving on in this game but things seem so focused on the endgame. What should I be working on to play through this game?
Any Tips for finding groups and progressing?
How often do you log in anyhow? Even if you do nothing but log in every day you can get 16 levels a month.
Going into graphics options for GW2 and telling it a different resolution (windowed or full screen) may help. There are also various things in operating systems to help with accessibility. Between a Deaf spouse, getting involved in disability issues, and working out how to make software more accessible I feel the frustration when it is not done right.
Yes, ideal would be settings within the game but failing that look at what in the overall UI of the computer you can control.

Personally? I couldn’t allocate the first point in the Exalted Knowledge mastery line. (Yes, I had selected it as the active line and filled the bar) The “Are you sure you want to spend this point” dialogue came up, but choosing “accept” did nothing.
Small, obviously, but it’s something I ran into.
Yes, small but EXTREMELY useful to the devs!
I would rather get a picky ‘you misspelled this word’ report than a ‘looks good to me’ report (even though the latter seems like it should be less work). The former tells me someone REALLY kicked the tires before it went to the client so if I get the latter none of the devs know if it is really bug-free or what. The client WILL find outstanding bugs and you will have to fix them anyway, but doing it that way causes all sorts of problems and gives the company a bad rep.
I have seen people around the web saying the same thing. By pure odds, I doubt all of them use these forums.
How badly can they do the random assignemnt of slots in this. Before a RNG that people despised and seemed buggy. Now not even the people that got guaranteed invites can not get it.
This is worse than last week when the shatter was a daily. Then the server crashed and rolled everyone back (back to LA, loss of all loot, daily for it showing up again) right after the event completed.
Well, hovering the cursor over the World Map will show what each character has accomplished, as far as World Completion goes.
If this is only about the Explorer achievement, it does not matter which character has done what.
Thus, I am a bit confused about what is being requested here.
Do you mean hovering over a name to get the same list as you would get by viewing the map? Not what I am talking about.
Say each of my characters has been to, oh, 2/3 of each of the ascalonian maps. Not the same 2/3rds either, although there is some overlap. For the ascalonian explorer achievement it then tells me I need 10 points. Ok, which ones? They are counting a total of what [bold]all characters[/bold] have done but I can only see [bold]one character’s[/bold] map at a time.
As was mentioned, a good way to implement this for now would be through a website. I would need to dig through the API docs to see if it is feasible, but unfortunately I do not have a lot of free time for the coding.
Note that ‘zone’, ‘area’ and so on are messed up terms. Everyone uses them a different way and means a different thing.
I was thinking of it saying that I am missing 1 point in, oh, ascalon. However different characters have covered different areas in ascalonian maps. The one point is something in common among the places that have been missed but where?
So yes, a zone or area completion list (depending on your terms) would fit the bill.
