We lost all our upgrades; guild stash, armorer contract and some otherswe did change servers a few days ago, can that be it?
Influence gathering and guild buildings are serverbound. You change server = anything stays back on the old server. Once you get back, you have it all back too.
@Drako: that applies to you as well.
If you link the accounts, GW1 and GW2 share the same email and the password. In order to enter GW1 you need at least one character name on GW1 to do so. If you don’t remember one, you will have to open a support ticket.
I could not enter one of my GW1 accounts some time ago. I did the same.
1. yes
2. yes
3. no
NCsoft had the option to have a master account and that is where all my GW1 accounts were placed. GW2 works differently.
As I’m not working for Anet, I cannot give more information.
It is not working yet – that is my latest information.
And the problem is known already.
And what are you going to do when you travel abroad with your laptop?
They have account restoration feature since December. So you might get it back.
Check if your mail was compromised. Often that’s the way the hackers get in. Follow the security advices that is available on this site or via support.
If it is possible, you need to ask support.
By the way, your title to the thread will not be very helpful, because it says nothing about your problem.
At the same time you forget, that this is an international game. If an English speaker might not see something bad, this might not the same like some non-English speaker is going to see it. Anet staff has to see this sight as well.
And if you don’t want to see some good advice in the public (forum), than don’t go public in the first place. The forum is not the place for individual answers from the staff. Such answers will only be given via a support ticket.
Yes, problem solved – bug fixed.
The other browsers can do that too.
But you can change the password using the “Account” information too. This feature is to be used carefully because there have been abuses with this feature. I know it was restricted afterwords, but I didn’t try to change it since then. So I don’t know about that. Maybe you will have to use support anyway.
zbrkesbr.4173 is most likely correct. Static IPs are kind of rare.
No he is not. Anet knows that too. So you accept a range of IPs rather than one IP only. I know it works because I receive a different IP every day. I’m only asked to verify again, if my provider uses an IP whose range is not known to Anet yet.
They told you so. They are the Boss in this area of expertise. Don’t argue with them.
If you are not satisfied, ask for review via ticket. They will not discuss it in the forum.
So far as I have seen here, it is no problem to gift the game. Ownership will be claimed with the code on registry. The email from you and the one gifted is different. So it makes 2 different and not connected games.
I would only recommend to keep the documents from buying because in the unlikely event of the account being hacked you might need those papers to claim the ownership of the gifted person. Just keep your email and password unique and implement all safety measurements that you can accept and are offered by Anet (email authorization; smartphone authorization). Just to stay on the safe side.
Happy Wintersday for you all in Tyria!
“Spank” is considered bad. You got your answer already.
Name change is not done automatically. Some human agent checked and decided. Change the name and you are back in.
Don’t do it and you might stay out or receive a ban for some time. I think it is not worth the trouble,
Check your credit card company! Sometimes they block it. Anet is doing a verification on the card and if your company raises doubts, the selling won’t be completed.
At the same time I’m not ruling out that using the same card might raise some questions with Anet too. They are afraid that 2 buys with one card might look like somebody abusing your card.
Questions might only be answered via a support ticket.
Just select the languafe for yourself. I have done it and I am not redirected to the German forum.
Here is where the Designers and main representatives are speaking. Thus I want to be here and not on any other forum.
Subscribe is known NOT to work currently.
Never on forums. Especially if there are player-names in it. Send it via support or use the ingame tool for it.
Clearly he is referring to the Halloween jump puzzle. People were insanely irate over the difficulty of it. It took me 19 hours of trying, but it made it a lot more exciting to complete. Other people just flipped out. The rest of the events were manageable.
This and maybe the Ancient Karka. The last one probably because of the amount of time you had to invest on a given time schedule.
But as it was said before: there have been voices for and against those challenges.
Although I did not do all Halloween or Lost Shores stuff, I liked the things I did and I liked the fact that the “pros” got something more challenging. So everybody had a chance to do something according his / her likings.

The problem is that the Digital Deluxe upgrade in the gem store costs $20 for players that bought the game at launch, while for new players it’s $0 (since it tends to come for free with the game now). Is there any change of that getting fixed to not penalize early adopters?
I got the upgrade via Gemstore. Just personal bad luck for me not to get the special promotion and personal good luck for the players who got the promotion.
Promotions will be always done at many shops (online and offline). Sometimes you ar lucky, somtimes you are not. No shop will refund money to a customer who bought outside of a promotion. Such is life!
Don’t forget that law trumps eula.
If you’re in Europe then you have the right to resell your software (see UsedSoft vs Oracle).
Simply wrong. Eula is legit until someone fights it successfully in court. I wish you good luck and sufficient money to do so.
BTT If you want to hand over ownership within your family, I would open a ticket to ask the ways how to do it. Putting this into the public makes the strict enforcement of the rules a necessity. Keeping your mouth shut in public may result in more genorous terms.
Just my point of view, so don’t take my word for it.
Good luck for your health!
Hi Marysvillain,
Regarding your question about account security, the best way is to have a strong password (also, unique if possible so it isnt shared with any other program you might have) and to use the mail and mobile authenticators.
Thanks
what if you don’t have a smartphone are you still able to get an authenticator?
Wouldn’t it be wise to add a security question or something to the password recovery page? If someone had hacked my account once already then they should have access to most of the information on that password recovery page. Email, Character name, and if you have the digital edition, the serial code is probably in your email too.
The serial code is normally not used in conversations with Anet (except you have to send it, if you have to prove your ownership).
I have no smartphone authenticator. Usually it is sufficient to have an email address and a password that is not used for other services.
Often it might be the email address and the access to it that has been corrupted and that is the way the attackers use. So make sure, that your PC is clean and that nobody knows access to that email account.
Anet has some good information regarding security – read it. It is a really good excercise.
I bought the game to play with my friends, but the server they play on is constantly full and will not allow me to create a character, is there a way around this?
Try to go there on different times of a day. Even when a server is full, sometimes it is less full than at other times.
This is the way others have done it (and told about it here) and this is recommended by the Anet people (again told here before).
There is a subforum for suggestions. You cannot create several 100 subforums just in case they might be needed. The more there are, the less we might see. Therefor I would ask for more disciplined moderation instead of more subforums.
For example: one sticky for balancing discussions in each profession subforum would be sufficient for me.
Why? It is bundled in one place and players as well as Anet employees in balancing mode could easily concentrate on this thread.
If it is getting crowded, Anet could make checkpoints for closing one and creating a replacement sticky.
This would keep the rest of the forums clean.
But all of this is not a bug of the forum. It’s just a suggestion and as such it don’t belong here.
This is a minor problem and it will be solved automatically, when there is another spot where people want to be.
Overflow is caused by overcrowding. This one is clear. And I have it on my server too.
Even if it is coinciding with the Lost Shores Event chain, that doens’t mean that the 2 things are connected in any way. Or at least not directly. I guess that Halloween and the Lost Shores drew more people into LA and they decided to linger there.
It doesn’t take me long on overflow and I don’t care. There are more important things to be done. And this one “problem” is not reducing the gaming quality.
It’s no bug. And the reason you think to have found may have nothing to do with the overflow. And the overflow is nothing bad in itself.
Question:
If someone’s account gets compromised on January 10th and the latest restore point is January 5th, but they legitimately purchased gems, i.e. sent money to ArenaNet, on January 8th, then will those gems be restored, or at least the money spent on those gems be refunded?
If they purchased Gems with real money, that is another action to take. Both can be done according to what I have read here, but it will be 2 actions.
One – restore the account to point of January 5th
Second – give the Gems or refund the money
It depends on the situation if both question will be answered.
Edit: I was beaten in answering by Gaile. She was faster.
The area only restricts where you log in. You can play on any server.
I see another problem: if there is some question to support (not any, but some), it is required to give serials and billing information. If you buy it for somebody else, the other person usually don’t have the billing information. In case the account will be hacked, this might cause additional work to get it sorted out.
Please see the buy.guildwars2.com site. Be aware that the special upgrade promotion is offered only with the purchase of a new account.
If I upgrade my account to Deluxe using the Gem Store will I receive ALL items included in the current promotion (this means the Wizzard’s Hat too!)?
No. Special upgrade promotion is only for new accounts.
@Sickle
1. should be, because there is a reset for the account as it was before
2. that will take some time, because they need to check a lot
3. yes
It is all written within the links provided by Gaile. I suggest that you read it.
We don’t know the amount of work necessary to do this and we don’t know the amount of work or risks involved in other ways the rescue some accounts.
I would guess that there had to be changes on the system to get such reliable “screenshots” of our accounts and that this might be the reason for the given deadline.
I see this as an emergency solution and I’m glad there is one in case of emergency.
I am not sure that one rescue will be sufficient. But I hope that it will be. So far I never got compromised before and I think that I am sufficiently secure in my dealings. But there is no 100%. Thus I like something like a backup to rescue me. Should I be hit, I will ask for help via support and I will hope for a solution according the case-by-case decisions. One time for account ist stated and it is the rule I have to accept. Nevertheless there is no rule that says that I cannot apply. And I will.
I suggest that everybody who has a problem shall apply. I am sure that Anet will always try to help, if you are innocent.
I guess it’s a leftover from Halloween. There was something there that pushed you back that way. It is the exact position for this.
Rising Dusk is right. The account is your’s and it is your’s to decide about how it it used.
Just don’t start complaining if something gets terribly wrong.
I played GW1 along with 2 minor age kids. It could have been done with one account, because most of the time we were NOT playing together. I ended up owning 3 copies. As they were minors I am technically the owner. Before the kids grew up, they grew out of playing GW. Thus I own 3 full copies now.
I got it too. Reloading did not change it.
There was a problem with that before. The solution was:
- enter GW1
- request the NPC there to open up the HoM-Reward-Calculator
- close GW1
- enter GW2
For me this was the solution.
It’s the official workaround: try to edit the url – like what I have done
I am not surprised. Online games tend to be more delicate in their connections. Mostly because they need to transfer more data and they have to do more handshaking than IE or VOIP. And you try to force playing 2 games via one line. Even if you have some superior connection, it would be clear that if one client fails the other on the same line is going to fail too.
So, again, bot surprising!
I did receive it today and I’m very glad about it too. I wasn’t able to collect much from the events because anytime it got interesting I got a DC. So, yes, I’m very, very glad now!
Not yet.
And the problem is known already.
I accept that merging of threads is sometimes necessary. However, I just discovered that the topic into which the thread containing my posting was merged, shows no sign of my participation.
I repeat: my post is in the new thread, but the sign in front of the topic tells me, that there is nothing in it that comes from me.
I guess that merging does NOT merge all information. Something is lost and it seems to be that this marker is one part of it.
I don’t know if there is more than that, that gets lost while merging threads.
…
Did you not see on the guild roster of members that any character of your account was marked as leader? I would not have tinkered with it after seeing this tag there.
I don’t understand what you are trying to say?
I don’t see any tabs other than main tab for specific guild in other characters unless I represent it.
If you create guild with a character and leave it from another character it should not delete the guild!
When you have your own guild, you can accept being in that guild for any other character that you have on that account. Although you have not invited them, they seem to act as if you invited them. If you did accept and you represent the guild, you will see the guild leader symbol on the membership window whenever you are logged in.
This means that every character of your account IS guild leader, when you are logged in. one singular action made it that way.
I guess, that stepping down from leadership is the one singular necessity to quit the leadership for them all. If there is no other member beside your account, that may be all that is needed to delete the guild.
If that is true, then they should enter a warning and a question like “Do you really want to do this?” But that would be a suggestion.
At the same time it would be nice, if some information about this would be displayed somewhere. For example in the wiki. Currently there is nothing about deleting a guild – I have left a question about this problem on the discussion site of this page:

High Ranked players & Commanders hacked [Merged]
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Michael.4791
…Now reading these posts, as well as the ones that have been on reddit.com/r/guildwars2 the past couple days, it does seem to be very strange to be happening so frequently and to certain people with a lot of gold. No its not like its happening to everybody, but the amount of hacked accounts is for sure alarming, and I dont want that to be minimized…
These numbers are known by nobody except Anet employees. Any guess coming from some posts here or elsewhere are necessarily bound to be wrong.
For a game that is to be played all over the world there is no good time to do any of this.
Thus we will have to watch the announcements or else live with the consequences.
…
Did you not see on the guild roster of members that any character of your account was marked as leader? I would not have tinkered with it after seeing this tag there.
They do or else the bug will be forwarded. But you cannot expect an answer here. If there is an answer it will ask for more details and not to make sure that you know they had read it.
It is better to work on a bug than to communicate about it.
I was told in GW1 after 1 or 2 months of absence an leader would be lowered in rank and another player of the guild would be new leader. Automatically.
That would be enough to solve our problem.I don’t think that was actually in GW1. I recall trying to kick someone and accidently promoting them to GL. They hadn’t been on for months, we had to wait until they logged in and read the guild message and returned the Leadership. Maybe Arena Net installed something later, I did send them a support ticket.
It is active that way in GW1. Happened to me. I was officer and was promoted to leader when the leader didn’t show up for 2 months. It is stated in the wiki as well. If there is no officer the leader job can go to a normal member as well.
It seems you may have done an override of the system, when you accidentally promoted someone who was already above the action mark.
Metrica Loch Jezt diving point really needs to be fixed. It has been over a month since the known issue with it was reported. Seriously, there are many of us where this is the last diving point and because the goggles don’t spawn, ever, non of us can finish this achievement.
Fix this please, and quickly.
If you would have searched a bit, you would have found this one:
