spoken like someone on a high population server. in T4 and lower, in general, if you dont upgrade it, no one will.
If the population is as low as that, then you really, really don’t need to be upgrading anything.
Just cause we aren’t overflowing with people doesn’t mean we don’t deserve nice things like waypoints and double supply…
That’s not what I was implying. Look, if there is a dedicated group of people playing, then I’m sure some sort of agreement can be reached about spending gold on supply. No one person should be stuck blowing all of their gold. If there is no one to reach an agreement with, then the server is dead and I’d recommend a transfer.
At the end of the day, if you are losing money from week to week in WvW, you are doing something majorly wrong.
Wait, do T1 servers organize who pays for upgrades? God that’s kinda funny. And sad. Mostly sad.
And if that is how you decide if a server is dead or not I’m guessing any server below T1 is dead. And T1 is half dead.
Ugh, again you missed what I was saying entirely.
I’ll say this. If the op is constantly blowing his money on upgrades that not a single other person is willing to help out with, so much so that he’s losing money from week to week, the problem is not with WvW. It is with him. I’d recommend taking a financial course in school.
Yup, I’m definitely changing to this build for my old thief. Time to dust him off.

I support ANY Thief build buffs that doesn’t rely on stealth. Thief was my first class, and is now sitting shelved almost permanently because I am not using a stealth build for it.
Seriously? What is so wrong with stealth?
oh so you can then just cast rapid fire knowing we are down a dodge =\ and get it anyway
Fine. Lets leave it as is so you can get knocked back by something you can barely see coming every time you try to close the gap.
Freaking Hell. Try to be constructive and discuss a quality of life change that’d make the longbow more engaging to fight against and easier to predict and it’s just not enough for some people.
I feel your pain. For the record, I agree. It’s only a tell that we are missing.
Awesome! I commented :P

Celestial itself is not overpowered. It’s merely might stacking. Might stacks are insanely strong due to the buff on both power and condition damage. With the strength runes and might stacking sigils, celestial become both deadly and very sustainable. That’s where the problem lies. Remove might stacks, and celestial is exactly what it should be. Namely, a jack of all trades and master of none.
If we want a solution, do something about might stacks/stacking.
Upon further examination, I believe you are correct. The blast has been moved back definitely. It actually has helped me more than hurt me, but that’s just because I wasn’t aiming burning speed correctly, and when I do it still tends to hit. However, I’d still rather it be at the end. Just because that’s where it should be.

ANet was thinking—man, someone should really get out there and PvP to stop that guy from contesting the waypoint.
Straight up this.
Lots of ppl kitten sheesh
Don’t be too hard with Ele’s. Let’s just say we’ve been through a lot over the last two years.
So don’t waste all your money upgrading stuff. Let others do it. I only upgrade stuff on rare occasions. If everyone upgraded something now and then, things would be fine.
You needa change your sig, bro.
Here’s an idea that came into my head randomly. You guys tell me whether it sucks or not.
The idea is that there are deployable traps with a certain radius that will only be detonated when a certain “weight” is put on top of it; aka a certain amount of players standing within that radius. The traps would deal a heavy amount of damage and perhaps put a condition on the enemies such as bleeding.
Obviously the ultimate idea here is to somewhat punish gigantic blobs and to promote several small scale invasions (meaning 10-20 rather than 40-50 man groups). Now, clearly I haven’t worked out the numbers yet, like how much damage the trap deals, how much supply it costs to set up, or how many people would have to stand on it, but does the ultimate concept work?
What do you guys think? Don’t kill me, I admittedly haven’t thought it through too much myself.

I so wish I could use the normal Asuran racial skills in my elite slot. The normal skills are so much better than the elite ones…
I just do Pvp until I have enough tomes. lol
Solo what? solo www? solo dungeons? solo openworld? soloQ?
Only thing i can say is Elementals are awful post patch.
Nawww. C’mon man Ele’s kick serious butt! There are other builds than meta, you know.
Maguuma, eh? I may have run into you before. I’m the little Asuran Luigi from Sea of Sorrows. Hit me up some time and let’s hunt some fa!
I may be alone on this, but I personally feel that the only problem right now is the animation. Every arrow looks about the same (especially when you’re standing at 1500 range). If I was able to learn the animation of each skill, particularly the knock back, then I would be fine fighting rangers.
Other than that, I’m just sad that roaming has taken a bit of a hit. I mean beforehand I could potentially win a 1v2 or even on occasion a 1v3, but when I’m up against a group of 2 or more people trying out their rangers, I don’t stand a chance. I die once I’ve gotten to about 500 range haha. But that’s just me giving QQ is all. :P
I like your attitude man, and the video was great! Looking forward to seeing some more stuff in the future. I got two questions for you:
1. What server are you on?
2. What is that Elite that you’re using? Is it a sylvari racial?
Hmm I haven’t really noticed anything.
I was wondering the same. I don’t see anyone using it so I imagine it’s not very good. But I don’t know.
I’ve mentioned this in other threads, but the only thing I take issue with is the idea that Rangers can do such amazing dps while at 1500 and I believe even 1800 range? I think that is a little bit (Edit: didn’t cuss what the heck) cheap because they have so much mobility as well. They can own you and as you begin to close the gap they just kite away, rinse and repeat.
So in other words, it’s not the damage itself that I take issue with, but rather the manner in which the damage is given. Because it’s so “safe” for rangers to attack, I feel they shouldn’t have, say, equal bursting to a thief.
To be clear, so far I’ve done fine against Rangers, so maybe their damage is fine. Overall, I still need more time to figure things out. I know there’s a lot of inexperienced rangers running around and since I’ve had almost two years of roaming experience on my Ele, I hardly think that’s fair. Once I fight many skilled rangers, I’ll decide my opinion.

Yesterday I had a blast playing D/F. The reflect on earth #4 was glorious.
The matchup is in favor of the Ele. You have a projectile block on a low cooldown and multiple ways to close the gap. You outsustain them in melee combat.
In my experience that skill is almost useless as a projectile block. Am I doing it wrong or what?
Try to shrug off the sentiments from above…GW2 has about the most supportive and tolerant player community of any MMO I have walked into but there’s always “those guys”.
Unfortunately, they do have something of a point. Obsidian Sanctum is not a JP you should attempt solo. It was one of the last jumping puzzles I had left in the game…and was resigned to leave it as the one I never finished simply because I knew what it would be. I had heard the infamy of “the dark room” and the amount of spots players could camp and pick people off. Were it not for a friend more committed to 100% completion of all jumping puzzles than I, I probably still wouldn’t have it done.
Having been though it though…here is my advice. First, youtube it. Then youtube it again. Know the path you’re going to take inside and out before you go in there. The more time you waste looking up where to go next the greater the chance someone is going to catch up to you.
Second…bring a friend. Bring two friends. Bring everyone you know. One man won’t pose much threat to someone camping…looking for an easy mark. A pack might make him reconsider his use of time.
Third…always be looking ahead. Most of the path is pretty visible…there are some tight spots like ascending the platforms on the inside of the “tower” or whatever that was supposed to be…bring stability and pop it near the top. Necro is one of my least played alts and even I recognized that would be a good spot to fear bomb someone to their death. If you see someone camping and you don’t think you can take them out…WP back and come back another day. It’s not going anywhere…save yourself the frustration.
Having said that though…don’t rush to instigate a fight if you do meet someone. Keep in mind…there are people like you out there that don’t want to fight and just want to get through that place. We agreed going in…we only fight in self defense. We met two enemies on the way through…a warrior and an elementalist. The warrior gave us space…he got to finish with us. Live and let live. The elementalist attacked us after we had already walked by her. She didn’t finish.
To your original question of “should it be changed?”…as much as that place irritated me and held me off for so long…probably not. Yes people can be obnoxious and ruin other peoples day but I think that’s part of the point of OS. The challenge isn’t really in the jumping…the JP in Malchor’s Leap held me up longer (though admittedly I studied it far less going in) than OS did…the challenge is dealing with a JP in a pvp situation. And after two years in all likelihood they would have changed it by now if they ever planned to…so all I can say is do what you can and good luck.
No offense man, but you’ve way over complicated this. Generally there aren’t too many people in there and the ones who are aren’t generally trying to kill you.
YouTube it once to see the path, then go have fun. If you die once or twice don’t have a rage fit, just try again. If someone attacks you, fight back. Don’t run. If too many people are in there constantly camping you, try it another day. Also maybe YouTube the spots where there is stealth. It’s honestly not that hard.
Give me a week to master turret engi and climb the leaderboards. Then I’ll make your list!
Basically removing the achievement requirement during a tournament is an experimental step we took to reduce the incentive for achievement grinding. We want people to play WvW, and not focus too heavily on satisfying achievement requirements.
If we find that players prefer having numerous things to check off a list, then we would certainly take that feedback into account and consider it for future tournaments.
Meanwhile PvE gets tons of new achievements and WvW gets 5 achievement points for a tournament.
Dude be quiet, I don’t want us to get a giant achievement grind. Let the PvE players do that.

It was a brilliant idea! I would recommend giving something like 50-100 events though because practically everything you do in WvW will grant you events. This way people won’t feel obligated to grind anything specific, but they’ll still have to spend time in WvW.
That’s the way I see it, anyways. To be sure, I like this better than last meta’s.
In my experience this far, it has caused our blob to separate into smaller groups and attack several towers/keeps at once. I like that.
The truth is, the golem is actually mostly useless. Yes, it can win 1v1s for you but it only stays for about 37 seconds (despite the 40 second description) and that is only if someone doesn’t sneeze on it. Mostly when I pulled it out, the enemy would just destroy it in a couple seconds before it could butcher them.
Dang, son! So I tried it out and then switched back to my FGS after killing about three people. I don’t like abusing stuff but I like seeing what’s up. So just for everyone’s reference, there is definitely a problem here.
Time to “experiment in order to enlighten” aka abuse this sucker!
Just kidding, but I am going to check it out.
The only possible reason it could be considered over powered is the mere fact that it comes from range. Not the damage output itself.
I’m not taking a side here, I’m making a distinction. It will save you a lot of heartache in this debate if you realize this fact beforehand.
0/2/0/6/6 Personally, I used knights until I got full celestial. However, I actually do not run the current meta build. I have some different ideas about what’s effective for Ele. Either way, you can’t go wrong with knights and the standard cantrip build.
Traits for:
Air-I
Water-V-X-XI
Arcana-II-VIII-XI
At first I didn’t see it and I was thinking what the heck is this. But then I saw it and dang! Hahaha you think it was just lag or what?
Roaming still works lol
This latest Frost Spirit nerf might force me to quit in the long run too, I’m not sure if I can make the transition to become a warrior player.
Seriously?
You have some good points mate. I do think that your overall perspective is a bit exaggerated though. This game is more balanced than most mmo’s I’ve played. You can’t really compare it to fighter games (like ssb) because they were made for the sole purpose of pvp and balance. Guild was 2 has a lot of other things to factor in besides just balance.
I’d say they’re doing a decent job overall of evolving us in the right direction. Granted, they continue to make various mistakes along the way that take awhile to fix.
I’ll reserve final judgement till later on, but for now I don’t think the update is over powered at all. As many have have stated it can be both reflected and dodged easier. Plus Rangers were sub par beforehand. Hopefully now they will have a better run of things.
Yeah, Fiery Rush is indeed bugged / only got a tooltip update in regards to the single target damage buff. The ability does less than half the damage it displays on the tooltip. I was actually looking forward to trying out the new leap
. Hopefully they will fix it very soon, because I am extremely disappointed in the elemental elite activation skill and actually think FGS might be viable for more than mobility if they manage to get this fix in
.
Well stated! I agree completely.
So we lost one of our two good elites? I guess I’ll stick to FGS in WvW and use it now in SPvP as well. Ugh.
I think it’s due to the lag caused by the patch. I was constantly screwing myself attempting to use that combo haha. Rubberbanding like crazy.
amem to that…
For real though!
You mean warriors have to actually try and land their skills now? Dang. That’s new :P
Well I was about to make a ranger. I guess it’s time :-)
lol
