Thanks for the information, I suppose I won’t be coming back to GW2.
I just returned as well and my first thought was to check the forums. It seems you and I are in the same boat. I suppose I won’t be returning either…
3 stacks of fire per second op
Stop walking across it silly. When your mom tells you the stove top is hot it means do not touch!
This guy nailed it. Clearly it doesn’t matter how op a skill is. Heck, it could even put an instant 25 stacks of burning. The point is, you can dodge across it so learn to play and you won’t have this problem.
#Balance
Whatever weapons you choose, make sure you look awesome!!!!
That’s always the most important thing! When it gets to top elementalists, they’re all pretty close, so the ones who stand out are the ones that look real nice.
For all the people saying Svanir is difficult, let me try and say this as gracefully as I can.
For you, he might be difficult. Perhaps even for a large majority of the population he might be difficult. But for a small group of dedicated pvpers, he is VERY easy to kill. No, I’m not exaggerating, I promise. If need be, I can make video proving that he is very easy to solo. In fact, I’ve had to solo him many times in the past during an intense game and I’ve pulled it off just fine time and time again.
The fact that a dev nearly died trying to kill him is a testament to the fact that the new specialization is not very effective, or to the fact that the dev(s) simply aren’t very good.
The fiery greatsword method has definitely been nerfed. The ice bows still work just fine, though.
I’m curious, how do you plan to cast that 5s Fire overload you mentioned above? In the middle of a team fight?
Use lightning flash effectively.
Not my thing…
We did gain four new traits recently. I’d recommend building in some Condi Clear. My only issue with condi right now is how strong burning can be without any condition damage built into the build.
Your server is ticking 400+ PPT. Sounds like the other servers already logged off. I’m sure that wasn’t a scout in the tower. More likely, it was someone grabbing supplies or a roamer. I have no doubt you could build a ram, run supplies from S camp to build it, and ram the gate without anyone responding.
Actually, that’s not true. The reason the gate was low is because several of us had tried to cap it about 15-20 minutes before and gotten zerged down only after a scout entered the tower and gave us away.
In that Particular moment, there was our zerg, and the enemy’s zerg going at it at several locations on the map. We kept being stopped due to their defenses. So, no, the servers weren’t logged off. Not at that particular moment.
Since I’m among some of the “lower” tier servers, it’s nothing new to tick that many points on a regular basis. However, (even though I’ve only been on the server a few weeks) I’ve picked up on the various times where different servers will rule. This was around the time that our zerg begins to dissipate and the other servers begin pulling ahead.

Tapping things is a tactic I have been using for a long time.. You also don’t need golems to do it. Rams or catas work as well, you’ll just need to run supplies. I usually start by flipping camps and if no one comes to stop me I tap something like a keep and the closest tower. Even if you are scouted they will most likely just assume its you again tapping something else. At that time is when instead of tapping I actually build siege and bust in and the tower is mine..
Doesn’t always work out that way as I’ve had zergs come and stop just me LOL but it can be fun to drive people nuts at times by tapping things and then taking over a tower to watch a bunch come and take it back.
Keep trying it out after the event is over.. Solo players actually help commanders and zergs more then most think. If you have a friendly zerg on the map attacking a keep most enemies will try to defend their keeps while leaving other objectives free to take solo or small groups..
Nice! Will do, for sure. I definitely love messing around tapping stuff. My problem in the past was just getting supply for a ram. But the low gate and golem week certainly made things easy for me haha.
When you get higher ranked and have nothing else to spend your points on you can add them to supply capacity and be able to carry around 15 supplies. If you are in a guild that runs +5 supply you can claim camps and get +5 supply that way so can carry total of 20.
Sometimes catas work better but a little slower than rams I think and running supplies to build rams the guards may respawn and attack your ram. Guild catas can be built in some guilds and are a bit pricey on the TP but they cost, if I remember, 25 supply and they do same damage as a super cata.
Also at times some don’t really check for cata’s so you can always run back after a tower is capped and check if your cata is still there hehe. If so you can just reuse it to take down the wall again. Over time though you’ll learn a bunch of tricks but only one way to find out if your tricks will work is to try out different things
They don’t always work but if you confuse the enemies enough you have a better chance that they will.
Thanks for the tips, man!

Hey guys, I’m brand new to making videos and my hardware and software is currently terrible. I’ll be upgrading in the near future, but for now I’m finding it fun making videos nonetheless. In this video I used a little cleverness to manage a cap on a tower, thanks to the quick building of a golem!
Any comments or critiques would be much appreciated! Enjoy…

Well first of all it’s nice to have an i7 because of hyperthreading, but to be honest the biggest factor in stream quality is your internet connection. You can get by perfectly fine with an i5 and won’t notice any difference in quality between the two at all. The real significance of the processor would be for offline recording more so than streaming.
Having enough RAM however is something to consider, as it is pretty demanding to stream. You should be fine with around 8 GB RAM, no more should be needed.
As for internet speed I have 50/5 and can stream from wireless with no issues most of the time, and I stream with a max bitrate of about 2000 kb/sec. You will want to make sure you don’t stream with too high of settings because you are limited to what your ISP provides you. Upload speed matters a lot for streaming, so take that into consideration. If you have any less of an upload speed than I do, you probably won’t be able to stream with too decent of quality settings because mine is kinda pushing it and a bit on the lower end of the spectrum (that’d be American ISPs for ya).
Hmm gotcha, so basically I just need a decent processor, enough ram, and good internet connection? (I mean other than self-explanatory stuff like a mic, a camera, etc.)
I don’t know why people are so excited about the idea of elementalist getting a one-handed sword.
FIRST OF ALL, Nearly every class can use sword and all those sword skills (guard, warrior, ranger, thief, mesmer, and possibly revenant) are just standard melee skills (cuts, slashes, blinks, dodge, etc) which are things dagger kinda already does. -.-
Sword if you think about it may look good, but it’s such a boring weapon that 5/8 classes already use!!! While only 3 classes (warrior, ranger, and necromancer) use warhorn and if you think about the Hunter’ Call the ranger has and the Locus Swarm necromancers get the idea of warhorn sounds hell of lot more fun. Summoning storms around you like Locus swarm and instant aoes at an enemies location like Hunter’s call without having to ground target would make me more excited, then just using a longer dagger….cause that what a sword is.
Oddly enough, you have me convinced. Maybe horn might be kind of cool after all. It will certainly be nice to have a class that actually uses horn like a baws.
Well, I’m still excited. Though, I doubt I’ll use the war horn merely because it looks goofy.
Hey, thanks all for the responses I will be sure to check them out any chance on a link to CNC and your channel MightyMicah
Sure man.
Here’s my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmbAfTlt6KNqpu11QV5ThIw
Here’s CMC’s stream channel: http://www.twitch.tv/cmcgw2/profile
And here’s another youtube I remembered who might be helpful for you: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEDhisolJVBrp7sEfl_ckaQ
Hope these help!
Hey guys, I’m planning to get a new desktop PC fairly soon, and I want to get one that is capable of streaming. I barely know anything about all of the requirements that I’ll need, though, so I was wondering if anyone knows anything about what I should look for.
Any help at all would be much appreciated!
looking for a list of some of the better Ele you tubers that are updating regularly please.
I’m not a “better” ele youtuber, but I certainly run unique builds. I only just started my youtube channel, and will hopefully be streaming in a month or two once I get some better equipment, but feel free to check mine out. (youtube is Micah Greaney and Twitch is MightyMicah.)
Other than that, the guys above me mentioned all the good ones. CmC is a fun streamer to watch and he certainly knows Meta Ele very well.
In ranked/unranked PvP.
My only regret is ignoring the class for the longest time. I’m still inexperienced because I only play D/D cele in PvP atm. I don’t know how to play staff. And I don’t know how to play the class AT ALL in PVE.
The team support is amazing. I think it’s a well balanced class and hope it remains the way it is. Mesmers are a royal pain but I’m willing to cope.
We have a convert! haha welcome to elementalist, man! It really is a ton of fun. I’ve tried all the classes at one point or another but I always find myself spending all my time on Elementalist. It is a fun class, indeed.
Thank you, it’s been annoying the heck out of me, I appreciate the help!
It frustrated me when I first started as well! I was like, “Seriously?? What the heck keeps hitting me?” haha
Thank you guys lol
You’re welcome! Diva, what server are you on?
Well first of all, thank you guys so much for the comments! Any and all feedback is very much appreciated. However, I do believe the signet ele is quite more effective in pvp than you might realize. Sure, missing our signets causes a loss of damage loss, but our raw damage is nothing to be trifled with, either. I’ll see if I can upload some videos of various pvp matches and possibly add commentary to explain the benefits this spec brings to pvp.
Does it bring more benefits than Meta? Probably not. But can it compete just as well as perhaps another class could at a particular role? I think so. But that remains for me to prove. I only ask that you all be willing to give me the chance to prove it.
As a casual shark SPvPer, it’s pretty rare I see something on the forums I can call out as bullkitten.
“Rampage was the standard elite for GS warriors prior to the most recent update.”
That’s bullkitten. I’m calling it. Almost every warrior ran the elite signet. Rampage was very easy to avoid, and the swiftness and fury had a better pay off. They just did. Almost every GS warrior ran with the signet elite. Period.
I won’t say that current rampage is totally balanced. Not because it seems impossibly broken, but because I don’t have the data to fully support that statement. Obviously it’s stronger, but it doesn’t seem any worse than lich form (or Moa bird for 1v1).
I’ve played a LOT of GS warrior, but am a Necro main, thus do not really care if warriors get nerfed or not. I’m unbiased but well informed on this topic. Rampage simply was not good before this patch.
Also, as stated, if you just spam 1 in rampage you are definitely doing it wrong.
I would agree with you 100%. Well stated.
Love it!
/15chars -_-
I’ll probably download some software for a video sometime tomorrow.
Awesome! Keep us posted
Looks interesting! I’ve never been into conjures much, but I do like trying new ele builds. Any chance on a video?
Here are a few duels I had the other day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmWP2KTwsF4
And again, any feedback is greatly appreciated.
I ditched arcane long ago. Can’t stand Evasive Arcana. I do just fine, though I’m not winning tournaments and crap.
Hey everyone. It’s my opinion that signet Ele is largely underrated, and underplayed. Since I don’t really enjoy meta, I’m always looking to form new builds and after the patch this particular signet Ele build has been working quite good for me. So I decided to make a video explaining why.
I apologize for the slight buzzing in the video. I tried my best to fix it, but I’m still new at this and had some issues. If you can, just see past it and examine what it is I’m saying. I hope to add some roaming/pvp footage to support this build, but for now there’s just this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4KIN--Rd2s
Let me know what you guys think in the comments, and if I should keep making videos!
Any feedback at all is greatly appreciated.

I gave up using signets long time ago.
Now I only use Arcane Shield, Armor of Earth, Frost Bow/Flame Axe & Glyph of ElementalsThe only Utilities & Elite that actually do anything.
You, sir, have much to learn.
You lost me in the first two paragraphs.
Let me explain: Just because we had x builds before and they got modified, doesn’t mean we won’t get new ones, or find ways to adapt. Give it some time, thought, and effort, and in the meant time please refrain from posting these over-generalizations based on two weeks experience from you.
Please and thank you.
#Thanksobama
Seriously though, thief is fine. It’s much to early to make such exaggerated, sweeping statements. Give it some time, effort, and time.
Yea they werent doing much at all, sadly every bit of damage that wasnt conditions is soooo low due to my gear that I couldnt get him even below 95%. I basically just gave them a free kill
EDIT: in reality its my fault, instead of running some physical damage gear im all in with toughness, vitality, and condi damage. My own toughness killed me! nooooo lol
We need more people like you. You came here in frustration, but not anger. You left realizing that you lost due to a fair counter of your own build and that’s ok with you.
My respect, man.
I was thinking the same. Signet ele has few related traits now. I feel like Anet just scrapped the one branch of ele that we gained…back to d/d cele crap.
For your viewing pleasure
What a loser! The people who do stuff like this seriously need lives.
Because new/casual players feel too weak, please also, feel free to remove ascended items from WvW because I don’t want to farm it and I feel like 10/20% weak.
WvW players can’t be bothered farming a game mode they dislike to be stronger? psh who cares!
PvE players can’t be bothered farming a game mode they dislike to be stronger? we better fix that!!!
While I agree with your comment, I don’t think that was their reasoning for removing it.
I’m glad they’re being removed. I hope food is next.
I’m always interested in running new builds on any profession, and I’ve just recently (the last few weeks) been trying to run a mantra mesmer, myself.
Do you have a link to your build?
Most of the time when fighting multiple enemies, condi bunker is the way to go. Although as thieves we are naturally better at fighting multiple opponents so it depends.
I’d say either P/D condi or D/P. Regardless, I’d say you’ll need 6 in SA for the extra stealth uptime and healing.
As a condi thief, I found roaming with a medi guard to be insanely good. The enemy was conflicted about who to target first, and we had decent doses of condi and power. The guard was even able to give me burning which helped a ton.
That being said, some of the most dangerous roaming I’ve seen has been with a Theif and a ranger. Rapid fire from stealth out of nowhere combined with basilisk venom is just straight up rude. lol
Thanks for the FB status update lol
Why is this thread still here? This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Go play the game so much that you hit rank 80. Then you can claim to have the experience to say what should be removed and what shouldn’t.
In the mean time I’d recommend playing as Mesmer for a week. You’ll probably rage so hard at how difficult it is (especially in comparison to Ranger) to pull your own weight that you’ll quit the game.
I was just telling my friend the other day that I really appreciate how far guild wars 2 has come in sPvP. Sure there are some issues, but for the most part the game mode is balanced and fun, and even very rewarding.
Stop drinking the forum kool-aid. We’re not at an all time low lol.
Is it possible the change to stability may have somehow messed with distortion? Just spit balling something out there.
Hmm I’d wager there is some kind of bug, then. I was feared out of a distortion multiple times. I assumed it was an unblockable fear but I suppose even that shouldn’t have feared me. Interesting…
If I’m not mistaken, there are a few unblockable interrupt skills which I believe supersede distortion. But a more experienced Mesmer might be able to correct me.
Here’s the general consensus.
If you’re going to play in tournaments: Condition isnt going to work (but then neither is mesmer in general)
If you’re going to play outisde of tournaments pugging it: No one’s going to carry you as a Power Shatter.
If you’re going to play outisde of tournaments pugging it vs premades: it doesnt matter, you’re going to lose the match anyway.
If you’re going to play outisde of tournaments pugging it, premade, vs pugs, casuals, whatever comes out of that low to high level silly MMR system: use anything you like, just be a boss with it.
Well stated!
and i am trying very hard everygame
when does the system recongize I don’t belong in the mmr they’ve assigneted me to?
how many more do i have to lose?
I would offer for you to come play with me, but if you’re fairly new to pvp, I think I’d just make things worse.
My only advice is to examine your build and compare it to others. You’ll want a decent build to help contribute. Also, just brush up on the basics of pvp. Even if you aren’t as good as the rest of your team, you can contribute a great deal by simply not making rookie mistakes.
A pvp bud of mine along with my other friend who is like rank 5 in pvp all queued up together. We gave him some very basic build ideas for his ranger, and told him to stay on point and holler for help if he needed it. Even though he wasn’t the greatest player, we kicked serious butt because he contributed where he needed to contribute.
I hope his helps man. If you need any in game tips, hit me up. (My account username is obviously included in this post.)
P.S. Also, don’t lose heart! Ive had many insane losing streak before and just felt at the time like never pvping again. Usually it’s best to take a break and maybe do some WvW. Come back the next day and try again. Usually you’ll make up for it in the end.
lol
Gr8 feedback m8 i r8 8/8. I rel8 and str8 appreci8 next time we should convers8.
Very appropriate counter response! +1
