Wow is 1 example, and the aimed at community/player base is very different… Vert vs hori progression. You are also using a heavily subjective term “tons” to define the amount you see.

We have a gem store, it does fairly well (if it didn’t we wouldn’t be playing). It’s an EXTREME long shot to imply the HoT price tag would be effected by mounts.

We have brooms and carpets that are mountish, really don’t see a need for mounts though.

Actually I like that conditions are no longer hindered by playing with other people. If the damage is to high, a single player can keep bleeds at 20-25… 3 players should not be be hitting to TOTAL condi cap for world bosses. It punishes people for using anything other then power builds

It’s almost a moot point to call “strongest vs weakest” at the moment, re-balancing, bug fixes are going to be pretty constant, let the dust settle for a bit first.

Please don’t imply I have ever ONCE said that they removed value. I never said it, I never implied it. I did say that the “worth” of the character slot for some players will diminish with the announcement of a free loyalty slot being added to all orders. I need 1 character slot, I do not need or want 2.

My desire to buy the more expensive version becomes less, when I no longer need the character slot. (I’m not saying they are taking anything away, but as I said… Do you think theres a reason they included the character slot BEFOR announcing the loyalty rewards, do you think they would have had the slot there if the loyalty had been anounced befor)

I’d totally see your point about your laptop if it’s a compairable situation. Did you buy your laptop as one of the more expensive choices, that included everything that came with it? (We need to assume you wanted norton for this to be a valid comparison) Then before your laptop was even available to be used, the store you bought it from said "hey guys we have decided to include norton with ALL laptop models from this line, but don’t worry if you got the more expensive version we will give you a second copy of norton, that must be used on this laptop free.

The result, those who waited to pre-order got a good deal, those that pre-ordered early and might not be happy with 2 character slots got told “See you shoulda waited and been informed”.

Wishing that you can get exactly what you want in bundles isn’t what this is about. It’s about adding part of a more expensive bundle to less expensive versions and saying don’t worry we will give you an extra DUPLICATE item to people who purchased and supported your release early.

Had they given these free BEFOR pre-orders had been placed, it would have been purely awesome for everyone. Giving them out after people pre-ordered some editions with a character slot being one weighing factor: not so awesome.

They definitely are refunding some players who purchased the ultimate/deluxe editions the 800 gems. (Look at my email screen shots).

As far as which slot is being refunded I have no clue, as I said I got the gem refund but still have the character slot, so I’m expecting I just won’t be getting the later one.

Calmly stating you are displeased with something, rationally asking if something can be done is not the same demanding, insulting, or threatening. The later could be called as crying, whineing, QQ, etc. However simply saying you are not happy and asking for something to be fixed is NOT being an entitled brat.

Actually if A-net just came on and said “All ult/deluxe purchasers will be given 800 gems, rather then the extra character slot”, I think everyone would be happy…

Just the way things go, the market tends to change rapidly…

Just because something is currently unobtainable doesn’t mean it has to remain that way forever. Imagine being one of the people that bought the perma hair kit BEFOR it made it’s way back into the black lion chests.

Probably, I still have it no plan on using it till the loyalties roll out. This is how I worded my request to have it changed over.

I’m actually super impressed with A-net right now, hearing the community out and giving out the loyalty slot was shocking! It’s even better if they help all of us deluxe/ult orders that supported fast and early get a fair deal as well

No it appears to still be there, I never used it, and don’t plan on using it till HoT comes out, or they roll out the loyalty slots, it was so nice of them to help out with this mess I wouldn’t want to risk it, or take advantage of A-net doing something so great!

No clue on what the plan is, I figured it would have been removed from my account, I didn’t even bother too look till you asked, I’m guessing it’s suppose to be gone till the loyalty ones.

Actually even for top tier runes they are still to expensive… 60-80 gems = 10 gold… 250 gold per extractor 1100 for 5… Unless you are talking some ULTRA expensive rune or sigil (genorousity, poly devices, bee, etc) it’s never going to be worth it.

I’ve added pictures from my first submission, up till the more recent time after I pointed out this thread, and another user getting a re-imbursed the gems.

As you can see from the screen caps, it did take a little bit of time and messaging to get it straightened out, but they did it! HUGE CHEERS FOR A-NETS CS TEAM ON THIS ONE!:)

Yep, that’s basicly my point in asking that question.

A-net would most likely NOT have used the character slot in this way had the announcement of the loyalty slot come first or at the same time. Deceptive marketing is frowned upon most of the time.

Yep, I won’t quit if nothing happens, I just wish A-net would at least offer an apology to the people that may feel cheated or tricked by this.

The character slot was one of many factors that helped me decide which one to buy.

I would need a slot to create a new revanent, making the bonus of a slot very nice as part of the deluxe or ultimate edition. So I bought the more expensive version based on the desire to get…

1. The expansion
2. The little goodies
3. The character slot I needed to create a rev.

With the new loyalty slot being handed out/announced AFTER the pre-orders my needs changed…

1. The expansion

3. I no longer need a slot, so this would not have been a contributing factor to my decision any longer.

That’s the problem. Someone is never satisfied, and as soon as one person isn’t satisfied people come out of the wood works on the prospect that they might be able to get more. Give an inch, as the old adage says.

That’s true to an extent, but most of us here aren’t demanding anything. If people are dissatisfied there’s nothing wrong or entitled about calmly and politely voicing that concern. Open discussion is the only way things change.

Many who are complaining are simply asking if some thing could be done to accommodate those who pre-ordered early based on the advertised release model and offers. The issue I have is not with what is being given, it’s with the ORDER of operations, had the announcement about the loyalty slot been befor pre-orders there would be absolutely no problem.

My biggest question for the people defending this, saying be happy with it etc…

If you purchased the basic version and don’t need/want the extra slot you got one for free, it’s not really a problem. You were never promised anything and you didn’t buy anything extra.

If you purchased a deluxe or ultimate version with needing/wanting a character slot as a factor you considered that is where it appears to be deceptive marketing. These people bought the more expensive version because they wanted the goodies and the character slot, they may not have purchased these version for just the goodies if they didnt need/want the slot.

The reason I posted it here is because said other post is a cess pool. Also the suggestion is different then the one listed there.

Hes asking for a gem refund for those who purchased the deluxe/ultimate. I’m suggesting that the character slots that have not even been handed out yet be changed to be gems for ALL pre-orders.

This topic is pretty interesting, on one hand it’s very nice of A-net to give the veteran players a character slot for preordering ANY version of HOT, on the other hand, it was deceptive marketing to not advertise that was going to happen and sell the deluxe and ultimate editions with a character slot as one of the biggest selling points. A-net has known for some time that players were really hoping for a character slot with hot, (large post on this in the hot section) So it’s pretty easy to see why they went with a slot as a bonus for deluxe/ultimate purchasers.

My suggestion… Why not give 800 Gems as the reward for veteran players who preorder any version of HOT? If you are one of the people that wants two extra character slots take those gems and buy it. ( Curious to see how many people who are saying “I want two” would actually do that). If you don’t need/want two slots for hots release, use the 800 gems (1 char slot value on something else)

Seems like a much better, and easier solution then the current idea.

If the order of announcements had been different would we have the same edition bonuses?

If the loyalty character slot had been offered from the start, (And not a knee jerk reaction to the community backlash) would the deluxe and ultimate edition have included a character slot? Would they have included something else instead?

Yep, not saying the slot isn’t a free loyalty item, but getting the free slot certainly does impact the value of the slot in the deluxe and ultimate editions.

As I’ve said before I bought my edition based on the expansion, the goodies, AND the slot. At the time of purchase I did NOT have a slot for the new class, now I do have a slot for it and I did NOT need the slot included in my edition.

The loyalty character slot does not effect the value of the expansion or the other goodies, just the value of the character slot in the edition.

Would it be just as cool if A-net had said all the deluxe edition items were now included with the standard edition, but if you bought the deluxe don’t worry you will get two?

Otherwise, you bought the deluxe because you wanted the slot plus the other goodies, so you’re not losing any value.

What if you bought it because you valued the other goodies and the SLOT because you needed one? Now the extra slot removes the need for that…

I don’t see how or why the comparison of pre-ordering something that A-net WANTS you to pre order as soon as possible is the same as running into a burning building… Everything about a burning building kinda says STAY OUT. I really don’t think A-net designed their pre-order to say DON’T Pre-order me yet!

I know she said all the vet accounts (outlined terms of vet account) would get a free slot, I don’t recall seeing any thing to address people who purchased the deluxe or ultimate editions using the char slot as a weighing factor.

@minae, most people did not buy the upgraded version for JUST the character slot. However the character slot may have been a factor in their decision. When I buy things I weight the value of the WHOLE product vs the cost… In this case, expansion (wanted), char slot (wanted), extra toys (decent bonus wanted the slot any way figured why not). Now Expansion (wanted), Char slot (NOT Wanted), extra toys (same as before). Makes a pretty big difference in my purchase.

(Just to clarify, the slot EVERY veteran account is given would be given free, the slot acquired from the deluxe or ultimate editions are purchased)

It’s not pointlessly complaining, A-net showed us 3 versions of the game, I weighed each version and decided I would be willing to buy the more expensive version because it had a few silly bonuses and a CHARACTER slot. I needed the character slot, I figured I might as well get the other stuff while it was available.

Now I don’t need the character slot, I needed 1 for not, I would not have purchased a seconded extra one. My suggestion is just turn the slot into it’s current gem value on the pre orders.

Though I will admit, I would love to see the under water weapons get moved to be terrestrial. The current under water content is lacking, and A-net seems more intent of phasing it out rather then adding more.
