The mistake people are making is flushing money. The vast majority of people will lose doing this. Over thousand flushs? thats over 4000 rares with a conservative price of 30s the current market value of that would be over 1200 gold before recovery value. You could have bought any precursor with that by now.

You can get a legendary in a few months time if you utilize the resources that are given to you effectively. Stop gambling your money. RNG is designed to make losers out of nearly everyone and you will always lose in the long run. Don’t salvage your rares unless you need ecto. Sell them. Never insta-sell anything at the highest buy offer. Same goes for buying things of the trade post, use buy orders. Utilize your non-gold resources such as skill points, karma, laurels, and use methods to convert them into gold. Making money is stupid easy if you are able to critically think.

22k AP and over 5,000 hours played. Never had a precursor drop nor do I farm or do anything I feel is laborious. Made the Juggernaut 6 months into the game, the only one I really felt amazed me. Have 1,000s of gold to the point I am considering making eternity and reselling it for the two GS skins and making underwater weapons for the cheeve.

Try not to focus on just making a legendary. Play the game, utilize your resources effectively, and just bank em and forget about it. When you go back to look because you think you are close. You will find that you are not as far away as you think.

I, myself, am not protesting any sort if inability for people to grind gold and buy precursors. That’s doable.

Boring, forgettable and utterly inane, but doable.

I never grind anything, heck I don’t even know how to speed clear a dungeon. My resources come from drops I get from playing with my guild and the occasional long term market investment.

You can certainly make it into a grind. If your only concern is maximizing your time value output anything turns into a grind.

I guess I can understand people’s frustration. I would be frustrated to if I threw away even 100s of gold into something and had nothing to show for it. That why I am suggesting to people not to do that. You are more likely to reach your initial investment value long before the forge will hand it to you.

Should Anet have another means of acquisition? Maybe. They probably have not figured out a way to do it without seriously upsetting the market.

The best thing I think they should do. Is make a new set of legendarys and make them or their precursors craft-able. The current set needs to be left as is.

Ideally, Id like a craftable set that involved having to earn things doing certain modes and challenges. Like completing certain long term achievements in various game modes.

[Suggestion] Put precursors in the gem store

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Mireles Lore.5942

Why would people convert to gems to get the pre and not just buy with the gold they just farmed?

Not everyone farms gold.

There are people in this game that want instant gratification in this game with no work or effort involved and are willing to pay real money for it instead of farm. Nothing wrong with that as it drives markets. I promise legendaries are one of the biggest of the the biggest driving factor behind gem->gold conversions.

Most Hated Weapon in the game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I think it’s pretty boring to see greatswords. Sunrise, Twilight and Eternity… you see those three everywhere. I don’t really hate then, but it feels so ’’meh’’ to see them, and I actually kind of feel sorry for those who crafted them.

I have actually had people PM me saying the would trade their eternity for my juggy in a heartbeat for the effect. Those three swords are probably the top reason gems get converted into gold. They seem to be the most common yet the most expensive ones to make.

I don’t really hate any weapon, and the only legendary I really liked was the juggy for its effect. That effect could have been on any other weapon and I would have purchased/forged it.

If i had to pick most annoying/troll weapon it would have to be duel Quips. or Quip+ floppy sword. I know someone that PvPs with that and the paper bag mask, he just strait up looks silly.

[Suggestion] Put precursors in the gem store

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mireles Lore.5942

Mireles Lore.5942

Guys, seriously, think about it. $10=800 gems=X gold. Precursor costs Y gold. Z is the some factor you can multiple X by to get Y. So, Z units of $10=Z units of 800 gems=Z units of X Gold = precursor.

YOU CAN ALREADY BUY A PRECURSOR WITH REAL MONEY.

Yes you can, but thats not the point. Making something that was obtainable in game, and with in game currency, available ONLY through payment of real currency is just a terrible idea. Yeah it would increase gem sales, but destroy the precursor market on the TP, which in turn would cause a significant loss of a valued gold sink. I believe such a loss would also effect the prices of mats, and have far reaching negative effect on the economy as a whole.

Not trying to be rude, honestly, but where did you read the suggestion was to make the item only available via real currency? The OP didn’t suggest that.

Also, the only way this would affect the economy is if the gem prices didn’t reflect the current conversion value. Like, if they offered pres for 200 gems, then obviously this is much less than current market value. You’ve created a price ceiling for pres. However, if you set the price near current market value, like around 2,000 or so gems as suggested above (I’ve not done the maths,) you’d see no change in the economy whatsoever.

Actually you would. Gems to Gold and Gold to Gems do not convert at the same rate. If you were basing it off the value of gold to gems conversion to get it, it would be much more cheaper to buy the gems with cash instead of converting cash to gold at a lower value rate.

In essence you are making the precursor cheaper when it comes to real world money which would affect the price because people currently are required to go through the gem -> gold conversion. People will not do that if you charge a flat gem rate for precursors and thus stop paying gold for precursors until the price dropped and equalized.

And making them available through the gemstone will likely increase the demand for other materials required to make legendaries.

You can already buy a precursor for real world money going through the conversion. I don’t see why we need to disturb the economy by charging Gems for the current precursors.

Test Season Feedback: The Good, The Bad etc.

in PvP

Mireles Lore.5942

I can pretty much agree with the feedback here but I just wanted to add in what I think they got this horribly wrong.

I think they had incredibly good ideas with the match making and the ladder but ruined it all with one stupid idea. Making solos play vrs premade teams. You just increased the probability of bad matches infinitely more than what was done to ensure balanced matches by making a variable criteria on something you can’t measure with game statistics. Coordination. If you ask me to sacrifice quality of matches of people that want to play log on and go pvp casually isn’t worth the reduced queue times of teams.

It becomes really obvious what party is solo queues and what parties are on teamspeak. It is really going to keep me out of PvP until I can find a full team to go with, because it really isn’t worth anyones time to queue up solo only to get creamed. Which alot of people just arn’t going to pvp because not everyone has teams that are readily available to go when they are on.

-also snip-

The flaw with your argument is that it assumes this is all-or-nothing. You think players will either max out the AP, or not do any at all. It’s perfectly plausible for a casual player to complete one or two iterations in one activity. Or maybe one iteration in a couple of activities.

As I said before, the achievements are meant to be infinite. The AP cap is high enough to simulate infinity, for the average player. But there is a cap, because otherwise a tiny segment of the population would attempt to take advantage of it, if there weren’t.

As the numbers show, it is far from simulating infinite. Basicly most of them have 5 tiers and that’s it. As you can see in the my previous post, 3 out of 4 activities are whithin comprehension, 1 is not. Why?

- No one would have a problem with this, if it was truly infinite
- No one would have a problem with this, if it didn’t gave any AP at all
- No one would have a problem with this, if it gave AP only on the first completion

So again, why this awful, careless decision?

I honestly hate the current AP design. Why dont’ Anet give AP to everything. Like I should get AP for doing dungeons, fractals, spvp, wvw.

You said no one will have a problem with it. I actually have.

Why can’t people get AP if they actually like the activities. It’s almost like Anet remove a bunch of AP just because the “AP completionist” dont’ like it because they can’t finish every single AP.

There should be 100 activities all give AP everyday. And if the AP completionist can’t complete it all, screw them. It’s almost like ANet caped AP just because some completionist can’t do them all.

My point is if you dotn’ like them, dont’ do them. Why can’t someone actually like doing it get some rewards out of it.

That being said, with all the whining and complaining, Anet should probably listen. I’m just expressing my opinion. I doubt Anet want those AP hunter to give up and quit the game.

I agree with the sentiment here. Which is why I argued very hard against a daily AP cap. We should be able to get as much AP as we want, any way we want, doing it as many times as we want.

But, Anet has already taken a stance that there should be a maximum amount of AP obtainable at any given time for a given activity. Which is what places a emphasis on getting every point possible if you are unlocking lets say the radiant armor sets and the weapon skins on that track anyone has yet to reach.

So for people like myself that have a high focus on AP and what it rewards missing these points can matter because we can’t say “oh I will just make it up doing more daily, dungeons, fractals, ect”. No, because these activities are capped and can only derive so many points. So the only way to keep progressing the AP reward track is to do these repeatable achievements.

So really Anet is encouraging a completion mentality with AP limits, which is driving frustrations when something is not reasonable. Which is frustrating to people like that don’t necessarily care about getting them all just want to progress the track and have already hit up nearly all permanent achievements and caps and stuck with the grind it out option.

What happened to underwater content?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mireles Lore.5942

Mireles Lore.5942

Not that I wouldn’t mind seeing some underwater locations and visuals, but the combat is just kind of outa of whack.

The movement in the water was just awkward. It never felt like we were swimming. The movement made it seem like we were fighting Dragonball Z style just floating in the air attacking. That and you could totally Michael Phelps it across a lake in full heavy gear.

Then there is the skill limitations and balancing. Not having ground targeting, amoung other things made it awkward for the combat engine Guild Wars 2 uses.

It was defiantly a good start for MMO underwater adventuring and can be built upon in future releases.

I think the only place hard mode would be appropriate is in dungeons.

Monster AI would defiantly need to be improved. Things would need to be added such as kiting and avoiding AoE.

It could even go as far as to cut endurance (dodge) regeneration in half.

Granted that you can go without getting this APs for the repeatables with little consequence. I for one will probably not be doing the jump puzzle 75 times or playing 150 rounds of snowball.

But, I understand OP’s sentiment here. There are people that try to get as much available AP as you miss points on temp content you miss them for good. There is no recourse in obtaining them again and put you behind others permanently. Because of that AP rewards should be a bit more reasonable when available for a limited time.

Like the Inquisition was ridiculous. 80 rounds? in under 2 weeks? That was just plain silly. With each round taking near 15 minutes because the goal of that game was to survive the round. You would have had to do that for 90 minutes EVERY day doing only that to get all the AP.

Anet, you need to keep these reasonable or at-least make it consistent with daily and add a cap to temporary AP obtained. The AP system is still extremely tilted against players that did not play from the very beginning or miss a period of time within the game’s life.

People often complain on the basis that the game or a game should be perfect in their ideals, but the game has to appeal to many people that have many different ideas on what the game should be. The game is not competing against a perfect game thats why those people are still here complaining.

A good sign that I think that shows this game is superior to that of other games on the market is people will literally sit here and complain about it. Some of them have even turned it into a sport and will actively try to convince you that you are not satisfied with the game. If it was really as bad as people try to convince you it is here, they wouldn’t be here in the first place posting on the official forums. They would be off playing something else and commenting on that game.

The fact is that many people do not even visit the official forums and are off enjoying the game for what it is. This is just the place people feel most likely their complaints will be heard and gather here to do so.

I have several guild members that have recently come into my guild that said they quit GW2 because it wasn’t like WoW and went back for the expansion. Then realized they its the same and came back and are now enjoying GW2 again. You are not alone OP.

[NA][HoD] Looking for a PvE guild.

in Looking for...

Mireles Lore.5942

Hello Anivia,

I currently lead a casual guild on Yak’s Bend that has a strong focus on PvE. We might be a little bigger than what you are looking for since we try to maintain a roster of 150, but we do have a high focus on creating a social community of friends rather than just boosting our member count. I do my best to strike a good balance between being small enough to be close nit and large enough to be active and effective at accomplishing game objectives. Our peak hours are in the evenings with 20+ members online daily.

We focus on recruiting players that are looking to be social and make some friends as we believe in quality over quantity membership. We are not a copy, paste, and spam recruit guild. We seek out members on a one-on-one basis an think you would do well here and find what you are looking for.

Our current focus right now is doing the living story content and achievements together. We also get out and do the occasional dungeon and fractal together. Our biggest event is Guild Missions every Friday.

We also maintain an active teamspeak where the core of us socialize on a daily basis. IF you like to chat and joke around as you play this will help you get the most out of your guild experience here.

For more general information on how we do things and what we have to offer you may read our most recent recruitment post.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/lookingfor/XHSA-seeking-members-interested-in-LS2-groups/first#post4574829

If you have any questions or would like an invite please feel free to contact me via in-game mail.

I look forward to hearing from you, good luck on your search.

Thanks,

It is really not that difficult you don’t have to finish a single song. Scroll your camera to its highest point and don’t swing until that dot is all the way across the white line.

Well if you did the Graunk “quest”, you’d be very wary of wanting cooking 500, with bloodstone/empyreal/etc.

But yeah, jewelry needs to be upped too. We still have 2 (maybe 3?) unused ascended material (crystalline ingots/ores), which most likely go with jewelry, if we ever get that…

Yeah we still got this.

Which made me think they had something in mind that never got off the ground for whatever reason.

Mireles Lore.5942

It’s has been over a year now since Ascended Weapon and Armor crafting were announced and put into the game.

Will Jeweler and Cooking ever be upgraded to 500?

It seems like a long period to have these not on par with the reset of the crafting system.

With Sous Chef in the game promoting bloodstone food maybe he will finally hit it big and develop recipes that won’t kill you. I am hopeful when I see this that this is the lead in to 500 cooking.

Ascended food can be any variation of increased potency, duration, or even more buffs with food. They certainly have alot they could do with ascended food.

Jeweler the materials have existed in the game for a long time. You can view them in the ascended material section of your bank. Which means at one time they did plan to move it up to 500. Many player think we don’t really need this since ascended trinkets are rewarded in other areas of the game. I think there is alot that can be done.

Infused Jewels could be added to the game to give us a bit more variety of things to put into infusion slots. There has even been rumors and ideas floated around that legendary trinkets may become a thing. As it stands right now there is really no reason to have Jewel crafting as a profession right now. It really needs something to give it purpose.

I know that Anet and devs are not keen on setting dates or making promises. But, it would be nice to know if this is even something they are still looking at or is on the agenda at all.

What are the players thoughts on what these two professions can do at 500?

Treating AP hunters badly

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Mireles Lore.5942

22.5k AP here

There is only two things I find annoying about AP

I have to say that I will not be doing the winters day jump puzzle 75 times and probably wont do 150 rounds of snowball for 15AP each. Nor did I do enough rounds of mad king inquisition. Repeating something a ridiculous amount of times is not fun or accomplished. I already decided that achievements like these are not worth my time and are bit silly.

Black lion collections and Miniature AP. It really burns me that gemstone items are part of in game objectives and “Achievement Points”. Things that are advertised to be purchased with real cash really have no place in a objective achievement system. Not to mention that some of these weapons were already discontinued upon release of the collection. I wont be attempting to collect Black Lion AP either.

AP hunters really hunt for different reasons though. Myself I hunt because I want to eventually unlock full radiant. Which is why I don’t mind the fluff AP. We are all drawing from the same available points possible pool, there is only so much everyone can have. Having the hard to get ones plus the fluff ones still puts you ahead.

Anet needs to actually put in a real achievement system thats fair to everyone. There is alot of AP out there that you cannot get if you started after LS1 started. Like one that would be based on only always obtainable non-repeatable AP. This would include Daily AP since there is a cap associated with it. But I don’t understand why they would cap it with the way the system already currently excludes people not playing since day one. Currently it would of been the only hope people would have to catch up to players that were playing since day 1 and had stopped.

f all you played for was to check things off a generalized list while doing things you particularly don’t have a interest in or enjoy…. then yah the game is ruined for you.

I didn’t, and if you read anything I actually wrote, you would realize that.

Sorry, I guess I totally misunderstood this conversation where you state you have no interest in the activities and the rewards of the dailys and only enjoyed completing the daily efficiently.

No one enjoyed dailies. No one.

I did. You lose.

They either enjoyed the activity involved (killing enemies, harvesting plants, etc.) which they are still free to do, or they enjoyed the reward, which is now given to them simply for logging in.

Don’t care about the reward, don’t particularly cared about the activities involved with them. I killed enough monsters in this game. I enjoyed figuring out how to do them efficiently. Well, lately the answer to that was “spend 30 minutes in Silverwastes” so the fun had begun to fade before this update.

Nothing is stopping you from doing the old daily activities and absolutely nothing at all is stopping you from getting the old daily rewards.

Lack of interest in the specific activities is stopping me.

This means that your sudden lack of enjoyment is completely irrational.

The only irrational thing on display here is your utter failure to realize that not all people are like you, and some enjoy different things than you. You’re either severely lacking in empathy, or maybe you should get out more.

So you are just here to complain for the sake of complaining? You were already unsatisfied with the game before the update. The only thing you said you enjoyed was the tick of the daily in the old system…. not in the game itself…

The “tick of the daily in the old system” was part of the game, was it not?

In the same way the color purple and the letter G is part of the game?

One would think one plays a game because they enjoy and have interest in the activities it has to offer… not a check list that produces a sound and flash of light.

If all you played for was to check things off a generalized list while doing things you particularly don’t have a interest in or enjoy…. then yah the game is ruined for you.

Are you sure that was the intent of their design philosophy?

This is from near release where they stated their intent of the daily system.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/colin-johanson-on-guild-wars-2-in-the-months-ahead/

Please show me where they said that their intention had changed as I do not remember it.

They intended to change the purpose of daily as stated in this article.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-new-daily-achievement-system/

They stated that they wanted more content specific objectives and rewards and wanted to drive players to content the would have not otherwise tried. They wanted move away general objectives and rewards from all modes and make the rewards relevant to the content being played.

Which from PvP you could see that happening. Out of the 3 matches I played you can tell that alot of people went there not having PvPed before. One match everyone on the team but me went to home point to cap it for daily and you can tell they brought PvE builds. Why? because it was much easier and quicker then the fractal or silverwaste daily. We ended up winning that match and the guardians and necros completed their daily in one match.

Now does it mean those people are going to stay and PvP? Maybe/Maybe not, but it did get players to atleast enter and play PvP for one match and some might find they enjoyed it. It did intise some people to enter pvp that would have never have entered it under the old system.

That is the entire point of this change. The only people that are going to be disadvantage or upset with this change are people that are to stubborn or afraid to try new things and WILLINGLY exclude themselves from objectives rewards. It really doesn’t get any easier than capping a point and earning 50 rank points for a pvp loss or capping a single sentry and spending badges in WvW.

Anet encouraging a wide spectrum of play is going to benefit the community more than catering to players with a very narrow and specific play preference. I am glad Anet is atleast starting to put more focus on promoting the other playstyles but still has a long way to go.

Can someone define forced for me in this forums context…

Are people actually playing this game against their will?

Are people suffering the threat of violence for not completing their daily?

You see a reward that is given for a set objective but don’t want to do the objective? This doesn’t qualify as being forced. If you don’t like it don’t do it. If you want the reward do the objective. These are your two CHOICES.

No more AP for individual dailies? Really?

I probably have the complete opposite perspective of OP.

I am glad I do not have to do the same daily’s every single day. Every single day it was the same thing with negligible variation.

Step 1: Play 3 PvP matches

Step 2: Do WvW the varied objective and kill 10 People.

Step 3: Go to the appropriate rez, aqua, or gather zone and roll face on keyboard for any remaining objectives.

While I enjoy every aspect of the game, this was the routine every day. It was getting old for me and my guildies. And only having a few hours to play this is what most of my game time consisted of. I am a AP hunter.

Yesterday I did 1 pvp match, won… boom done with daily AP… stuck around for a few more matches because I like it. Spent the rest of the day doing random things with my guildies for the sheer fun of it because my AP hunt was over in one match.

[TC] Looking for 100% Rep Guild Family

Hello Oz,

I lead a pretty laid back and casual guild on Yak’s Bend you might be interested in.

I have been leading this guild since the very start of Guild Wars 1 and have always worked to maintain a social community for nearly a decade now. There are only three ways we gain members. The ones I personally recruit myself via these forums, members that have brought in their friends, and people that have actively sought us out unsolicited. We are not a copy, paste, spam recruit guild. I only take in members that I think will be social and want to take time and effort to be a part of our community. I feel like you would be a good fit for us.

We are quite a bit bigger than what you are looking for with a roster size of 150 and 20+ online in our peak evening hours. We do not have 100% rep rule, but we don’t need one, the vast majority of our members rep constantly without forcing 100% rep upon them, members volunteer to. The majority of our members hold 100% rep ranks. We also remove members that have become inactive or have stopped repping for the vast majority of time they spend online.

We also maintain a social teamspeak. We spend alot of time joking around and talking about random things as we play. You are not required to be on teamspeak for things other than dungeon/fractal runs. But, you will get the most out of your guild experience by being on here with us.

Our current focus in the guild is the living story and doing the related content together. We also still manage to get out and do some dungeons and fractals. There are also alot of members that do tequatl everyday like yourself. The only issue I can see is that you would not be able to WvW with us being on TC. We also do Guild Missions every Friday without fail.

For more basic information about us and how we run the guild you can read our most recent information post here.

The achievement you are talking about is a infinite repeatable achievement. You don’t need to do it to get the meta and the title.

To get all 15AP from this repeatable achievement you would have to do the puzzle 75 times. (3AP per 15 completions) That is way way excessive. This is one of the few achievements I say “It just isn’t worth it”.

Based on Gaile’s response.

Think its safe to say someone screwed up and doesn’t know how to fix it without risking screwing other things up more. So we got a very vague and half kittened excuse because they don’t plan on expending the resources to fix it.

I think it really depends how you did your daily and what you did your daily for. But, for the vast majority of situations I think this benefits people.

Pros:
Your material rewards from the old daily are no longer linked to completing daily. You log and get them.

As a AP standpoint, it takes less time to obtain max AP under the new system than the old.

Each daily has a specific reward related to the content.

For people that enjoy variety, There are many different things to do every day. It is no longer a daily wash and repeat routine.

Cons:

You no longer are awarded AP for simply playing the game. You have to go out and accomplish specific objectives.

… thats really the only con I can think about.

If you didn’t care about AP in the first place you really don’t have anything to complain about. For those of us that did, it is now way easier to hit the max AP everyday.

Now I have to carve out time each day to do this 28 days or no reward? Why not lower the threshhold to 15 days? I’m busy sometimes.

You don’t have to do it 28 days consecutively. You can miss a day, a week, or a month and still retain your progress.

Please change dayly achievement points system

Before, i could choose 5 of 8 possible (for pve only play) options. Of which at most one required me to go to specific region, none required specific zone or event. Now i can choose 3 out of 4. Of those one is a specific event (jungle wurm), one is regions specific (maguuma jungle forager), one is zone specific (queensdale events). Notice, how Queensdale is not in Maguuma Jungle region, and how Jungle Wurm is not a Queensdale event.
Doing daily meta not only requires more work than before, but it also forces a significant change to daily gameplay schedule (which previously was not the case).

I’m not only offered less choices than before, but those are mostly choices i don’t like.

I actually see it as alot less work for double the AP and reward. Grinding out 10-12 dailys a day took much more time. It isn’t much different from event completer, group event completer, and gather. Except you might have to do it in a specific place now.

I noticed how you didn’t mention the mystic forge. Which is the easiest of all. Throw some cheap low cost items in there a few times and you are done. You could have today’s daily done quicker than than the old system.

Sorry but there are still 12 choices and now you only have to do 3… not choosing something is not the same thing as no choice.

With only 4 choices in each category, you may find yourself forced to go in WvW or PvP if you can only make 2 in one category.

At least with the old system you had a lot more choices.

The same thing can be said about the old system to…. People were also forced from PvP to PvE in the old system.

Like I said before not choosing to do 2 in the PvE catagory or in any category just because you don’t like it is not the same thing as not having that choice. Nobody is forcing anyone to do anything, this is all a game we play willingly without consequence.

•Completing daily achievements no longer awards players with achievement points.
•A new Daily Completionist achievement has been added and is earned by completing any combination of daily achievements from the three categories.
•Completing the Daily Completionist achievement rewards players with 10 achievement points.

The vast majority of your player base is PVE only. A lot of this player base want to be able to get achievement points the way they want to. Not the way YOU want them to.

Trying to coerces the vast majority of your player base into game styles they utmostly despise is a VERY BAD idea.

If you do not change that, I predict you will loose a good chunk of your PVE player base.

I am a bit confused over all the rage… at first you get 6AP for 6 dailys and a standard reward.

The new system gives you 10AP for 3, plus additional rewards, plus a reward for just logging on. There is 4 PvE related dailys that are slighly more specific, you don’t have to step out of PvE to get your daily and you get more rewards.

How do people still find a way to complain about this?

People tend to dislike less choice over more choice? Just a thought.

Sorry but there are still 12 choices and now you only have to do 3… not choosing something is not the same thing as no choice. Its people that think the game should cater to them and only them that makes this community seem down right silly at times.

Hello Ville,

Quite a bit has changed since launch, one thing that is changed is that all of PvE is based in the Mega Server. You can now be a member of any guild in any world and earn influence, benefit from buffs, and participate fully in PvE without guesting. The only problem would would have with world is that WvW is exlusive to your world.

You didn’t mention what world you are on but….

I currently lead a casual guild on Yak’s Bend. We have about 150 on our roster with 20+ online during our peak times. We are most active during the evening hours (7PM-11PM CST) which i think will work out great for you.

We are a guild that participates in all area of the game as well but our strongest focus is on PvE and the living story. We also go out and do guild dungeon runs, jump puzzles, and achievement hunting almost everyday. We also host guild missions every friday night.

We do maintain an active teamspeak that we encourage members to come socialize with us on. We spend alot of night talking about random things and joking around as we do things. Friday nights are a big party with over 20 people on teamspeak. that being said we do not require you to be active on teamspeak, but we do ask you get on if we are going a dungeon run or fractal.

You can read more basic information and how we do things on our most recent recruitment post.

Mireles Lore.5942

Hello Amy,

I know your thread indicates that you are in blackgate and looking for a blackgate guild, but based on the activities you are looking for I thought I’d extend an invite to you anyway. Since the mega server change, your home world only effects your WvW participation. You can be a member of any guild on any world and still earn influence, benefit from buffs, and participate in all areas of the game besides WvW without guesting.

That being said.

I currently lead a casual guild that is mostly based in Yak’s Bend. We maintain a roster of about 150 with 20+ people online a day during out peak time of 7PM-11PM Central Time. We have a strong focus on PvE particularly the living story right now. We are also a socially focused guild and do our best to be sure everyone is given the opportunity to make friends within our guild. I make a personal effort to seek out members that will put forward the effort and meet us half way to becoming a socially active member in our community. I think you would be a good fit for us.

We do have an active teamspeak with the core of the guild on there every evening just joking around and talking about random things as we enjoy the game. We do no require members to be on there every evening, but we do ask if you are participating in a guild activity you come join us.

This guild is doing some activity together every night. It could be jumping puzzles for the monthly, a dungeon someone needs, farming in silver-wastes, it just depends what we are feeling like that night and often more than 1 thing going on.

You can read more basic info and how the guild is ran here on our most recent recruitment post.

Inflation pushes progression beyond reach

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mireles Lore.5942

Mireles Lore.5942

Inflation as a principle is not caused by monetary growth, the sideline campers who say that money growth -> inflation are wrong. Inflation happens first, and money growth accompanies it because agents in the economy need more money to carry out transactions.

I promise you if anet dropped 10,000 gold on every player in the game, inflation would happen. The price of everything that is not over saturated in supply and have bottomed out in price would skyrocket in price from people buying everything they want.

The agents of the economy don’t “need” more money for it to become inflated because the economy and demand is not based on just needs but also wants. If excessive growth exists and it is in people hands that would spend it. Inflation will happen.

Remember that changes in the overall supply of currency doesn’t mean inflation.

Here’s a snippet from an awesome game economist team:
“Changes in the money supply dwarf the changes to prices. While the money supply grew more than thirteenfold, the CPI fell by almost a quarter. It‘s clear that these series aren‘t strongly correlated. The existence of money alone doesn‘t contribute much to inflation. Money that isn‘t being spent won‘t affect prices. This brings us to the concept of the velocity of money, i.e. frequency with which a given quantity of money changes hands in transactions. It can be stated as the total value of all transactions in a period, divided by the money supply. In our case, we shall be using monthly measurements, i.e. market transactions per month divided the average money supply that month. Only transactions on the general market are included.”

edit: In case it’s not clear, this is not from me or speaking of our game.

I guess I should have added “circulation” to my post…

You are right the thousands of gold sitting on inactive accounts are not going to influence anything unless players come back and it is spent.

What game is this team from in this quote is? If I may ask?

And does Anet keep internal metrics on currency inflation?

Could be wishful thinking and hype… but I am hoping they really wow us with something more than just a story instance for the finale. It would be great if they were to surprise us with a new high difficulty, high end reward, end game area for the end of the living story. The month wait would be totally justified.

Inflation pushes progression beyond reach

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Mireles Lore.5942

You can’t use any single item or even group of items to measure inflation in this game, its a silly concept. Mystic coins have gone up from under 1s to almost 4s in the course of a few days since the achievement update announcment. Does that mean the value of currency got cut into a 4th? of course not. Supply and demand for items determines good and commodity prices way way way more than the purchasing power of gold.

There are two things that determine inflation or deflation of gold as a currency.

In-game rewards such as dungeons or looted coin and real world money converted from gems into gold. In other words gold that doesn’t come from a player and is created out of thin digital air. A concept that escapes alot of people is that base line in-game rewards will always be “lackluster”. They are the base-line of how fast gold is created making it the base-line of the rate inflation. The barrier to entry to farm/speed clear is low, almost anyone can pick it up and do it. Its the minimum wage job of gw2. Kicking the value of these rewards up will only inflate the currency until you are right back to where the reward was in the first place, lackluster.

Gold is removed from the game via trade post taxes, gold to gem purchases, waypoint fees, and other npc direct cost items and fees. This is the base line deflation mechanism. Something that this game does very well over others that do not have good deflation mechanisms and let the inflation of their currency balloon to ridiculousness making in game rewards totally pointless.

The net rate of these is what determines the inflation or deflation of gold. Unfortunately Anet doesn’t release any stats on on the creation or destruction of gold. Measuring inflation would not be possible. That being said. It appears to be a stable (not to be confused with the most profitable) way to store value.

Anet actually has very little control over the economy. They can only control the rates of supply production. The players control actual production and the demand. We are largely responsible for how the state of the economy is. The economy is driven by people not lines of code. If you want scarce resources and luxury you have to compete for them as there is not enough for everyone. The best way to do that will always be competing for control of the gold already in circulation by critically thinking, planning, being on top of information of upcoming updates, taking risks, and winning via the market.

In short. Its not inflation. Its the properties of supply and demand of luxury items designed to keep people playing. If there was enough for everyone and obtainable for the average player, they wouldn’t be luxury items.

Really? This is a thing? You really are going to have the options to reward people to login instead of actually playing the game for rewards? This is in my honest opinion a terrible idea and needs to be considered for evaluation. What say you forums? I understand the reasoning behind doing this (to attain higher login rates/sales) obviously but the real issue is the people who don’t find the need to play the game to actually earn rewards, which is unfair to the people who participate in the community and actually DO earn rewards by playing, contributing something to the community.

I think its a bit much to think people that already don’t play the game are going to log in every day for rewards they won’t use.

People that play the game will still have more rewards than those that don’t. You will have your log-in rewards plus whatever you earn by playing.

It is just extra incentive to log in and play regularly which alot of us are already doing.

You realize that you are living in a world where everywhere you go, everything you do is done exactly like this – it’s good business really.

Walk through a mall, a store, read the news, a magazine it is simply everywhere, you can’t escape it. ANet would be foolish not to employ methods that are working for virtually everything. Free samples at the supermarket, 30 day and your money back etc. etc. this kind of marketing is as old as the idea of marketing itself.

I admire your principles but you are living in a fantasy world if you think that you are insulated from this. ANet doesn’t treat us like lab rats, they are following marketing principles that work everywhere. It is you the educated consumer that will make the decision on whether to “buy” or not.

Yeah its kinda like getting your free sub card punched when you buy a sub sandwich somewhere. Alot of us are getting rewarded for something we are already doing anyway so alot of people are going to see it as positive. Myself included.

And if you’re not doing it anyway there’s a good chance you’re not going to care about the reward. I’ve gotten a lot of those punch card type things, and I don’t think I’ve ever filled one because I don’t go often enough and in between I lose them or give up on filling it and throw it away.

I’ve never found a 1/2 used one and decided I should really buy more sandwiches or coffee or whatever in order to fill it and get my reward.

Even the supermarket I normally go to offering a reward card scheme doesn’t stop me going to the one that’s closer and cheaper if that’s more convenient. (The quality of their products on the other hand does persuade me to make the extra effort.)

But maybe I’m the weird one here. Earlier today I was trying to explain to someone why IMO the fact that I’ve owned and enjoyed every Nintendo console since the SNES is absolutely no reason to buy a Wii U unless and until they release games I want to play enough to justify the cost. I don’t really do company/product loyalty, even when I do find a company or product I love using.

Yeah same here. That “sub card” doesn’t really do much to make you come back when you normally wouldn’t.

But lets say you do go somewhere to enjoy a product or shop somewhere on a regular basis. Does them offering some kinda loyalty program really lessen the quality or make the organization less legitimate? of course not. Which is the argument some people are trying to make which just seems silly.

People that don’t enjoy the game are not going to log on for a reward in a game they don’t play. The log in rewards are to keep current players satisfied with the game’s rewards to the point they might keep playing regularly.

But you only have to do 3 of the 12 that looks like are provided for us. 20-30 minutes before reset, even currently, is a short time table to knock out objectives for daily completion. I assume if there is a zone specific objective it will be vastly more populated that it would be now.

Today, I had the choice of 8 dailies to get my 5. In the new system, I’d get a choice of 3 of 4, as I won’t do PvP or WvW just for a daily. I don’t need to do now, I don’t see a reason to start doing it after the update. I’d rather stop playing, to be honest.

You mean you had the choice of 12 dailies to get your 5. Choosing not to do something is still a making a choice, you limit yourself not the game. The system just got balanced for PvP too, now everyone has the option to stick to their game mode.

I use the daily achievements for quick XP boosts when leveling characters. I haven’t leveled one in a while, but if I ever get back to it, it’ll be sad to see I can’t do that quite as easily (I can’t take a sub-75 to Malchor’s or Maguuma Wastes).

I think the level tomes that you earn for this could make up for this and then some.

Except that it sounds like you’ll have to choose between them and the “monthly” laurel reward at the end. One or the other, where right now we have both.

Based on the article it sounded like level tomes came out of the individual daily objective rewards.

Why would the spend resources on an area basically everybody seemed content with when they clearly stated their resources are limited and they will prioritize based on player feedback?

I don’t know about basically everyone. I am sure I am not the only one that got tired of the same routine with the same reward every day.

Upcoming Daily/Monthly changes 12/10/14

The current daily achievements were a little bland and dry, such as daily dodger, leveler, laurel vendor, gather, event completer. It will be nice to have more content driven dailys with content driven rewards.

It seems like these goals will actually get people out to do different things and reward them for it instead of just going through a daily routine for the same reward every day.

Some of us like a daily routine, not everybody wants to be told specifically what to do and where to go every single day. Yes the achievements were generic, but that’s a good thing because it resulted in a high likelihood of people completing their daily no matter what zone they’re in or how they play the game. For me, this is a lot like the trait system change, now I’m told exactly where to go and what to do just to get my daily done akin to the highly specific trait unlocking requirements. Where’s the freedom in that?

Well, I’m not going to try to dictate what one should enjoy. But for me and i’m sure others, those goals did nothing to add to the game in terms of accomplishing something and were things we all did anyway. Also one could argue that you are rewarded for just logging in now. So the daily routine element is still there and still rewarded.

I felt like that there was no variety in daily goals what so ever and felt like there should be more content specific objectives. From your argument it sounds like you don’t want specific objectives. You want to log in and play and get rewarded for it, which this system also does when you log in to play. This system gives us both things. You are not are not disadvantage in not getting your daily, you are just not rewarded for not completing objectives.

It will depend upon how laurels/mystic coins are rewarded in this new system whether there are no disadvantages, but the ability to earn a little AP while playing the way you normally would is definitely affected for many people.

Especially in instances where you get home 20-30 minutes before server reset, currently you can expect a little structure to how you go about knocking out your daily requirements quickly.

Not so with the new system, especially if every day requires some form of a world boss takedown due to the rigid scheduling. Or zone specific event completion where megaserver can make it extremely difficult for people to knock those out in a reasonable amount of time due to all the competition for event completion being funneled into one area.

True that a world boss completion would be on a bit of a scheduling conflict,

But you only have to do 3 of the 12 that looks like are provided for us. 20-30 minutes before reset, even currently, is a short time table to knock out objectives for daily completion. I assume if there is a zone specific objective it will be vastly more populated that it would be now.

We will just have to wait and see the different objectives they have in store for us on a daily basis and what they reward. It looks like to me it will be much better than the standard 1 laurel, mystic coin, 50 luck, karma consumable, and XP currently offered.

I think this will be a positive they are doing. They are trying to fill areas that would not normally have alot of traffic making it more populated for newer players on select days. They are getting people to gather in areas that they normally would not and bring a little more balance to the market. Trying to get people out of the beaten path to discover new things they might have not normally gone and done.
