I don’t think there was anything in this update announcement I didn’t like.
Meta daily makes it easier to get all the daily AP. People that don’t enjoy a certain activity won’t be at a disadvantage when it comes to AP or have to spend 1 or 2 hours just to get all the AP in every mode.
Combination of monthly and daily cap pools means me and other people wont hit the daily cap within a few months and extends the life of daily AP for another year.
The current daily achievements were a little bland and dry, such as daily dodger, leveler, laurel vendor, gather, event completer. It will be nice to have more content driven dailys with content driven rewards.
It seems like these goals will actually get people out to do different things and reward them for it instead of just going through a daily routine for the same reward every day.

I am writing this because I accidently hit a delete button instead of reply from somone that was requesting to join my guild via in game mail..
Pretty much,
Would it be to difficult to add a confirm delete button for in game mail? I would appreciate this as it is not the first time I accidentally deleted a msg.
It was way to easy to miss click and lose his contact info. I just hope he added me to friends list so I can kinda guess off followers list. All i remember is the first line.

Well then my deep apologies for my false accusation.
I’m just really sick right now and that can really mess up my mood.
I didn’t look at your other posts and I should have done so.
Again, my deep apologies and sorry for being such a rude person.
I usually am not like that. I’m a really friendly and great person.I completely understand you withdrawing your invite.
I deserved that.
You have an excellent Christmas and New Year’s and I wish you luck with your guild and hope you have a great time =)
I accept your apology and thank you. We all have our bad days and I appreciate that you put forward the effort to apologize.
Perhaps I spoke a bit rashly. I have been leading this guild for over a decade and take it a bit personally when someone criticizes my leadership.
We are truly a guild that believes in quality over quantity membership and could have filled our roster many times over if we didn’t clear people out for inactivity and non-participation. But, without community and a focus that roster count is just a number. We feel it is very important to have friends to really get the most out of this game and that everyone should have the opportunity to be our friend.
With this belief in mind, I couldn’t in good faith turn away someone that is honestly looking for a place to belong and make friends even if we got off on the wrong foot. If you are still interested in us I am willing to have you. You may contact me in-game for an invite or further discussion.
Thank you,
I, as well, wish you a happy holiday.

Yes I did read what you wrote,
I never copy and paste you can look at all my posts, all my replies are hand written response to what the member is seeking. Copy and paste recruiting is a very distasteful and cold way to recruit. I recruit people based on if I feel what they are looking for would be a good fit for us.
You said you were looking for an active guild… I told you how active we are.
You said you were looking for people in -5 gmt. I told you what time zone most of us live in.
You said you were looking to PvE with new friends and a guild that does things together… I told u what our current pve focus is, when our guild missions are, and that we are a social guild.
I even went as far as to follow up with you in game…
What is it exactly that I was supposed to say? Did you even look AT ALL at my other posts before accusing me of being copy paste recruiter?
I thought you might be a good fit for us but your accusation offends me, I respectfully recant and withdraw my invite.
Good luck in the search for a guild.

Hello Sajjio,
I currently lead a casual guild in Yak’s Bend. We have been building a new player base for quite some time and think you would be a good fit for us. We are a guild of around 150 and have around 20 online during the evenings in the US. We have a strong focus on socialization and also maintain a teamspeak with members on every day. We are very helpful to our new members and offer advice, answer questions, and offer assistance when you request it.
We host guild missions every week and make a point to group for living story, dungeons, and fractals.

I currently lead a casual guild on Yak’s Bend (we accept memebrs from other servers). Our guild has a roster size of 150 with 20+ people online during our peak hours in the evening. We have a strong focus on socialization so if you are looking to meet some friendly people this would be the place.
Our guild takes good care of our new players. We are always willing to answer questions, offer advice, and provide assistance when you want it. In addition to our experience we also maintain buffs that offer you increased gold and item drop rates as well as increased rare finds on gathering 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Hello Tyler,
I lead a casual PvX Guild on Yaks Bend (but we accept members from other servers). We are a guild that has high focus on playing together. We hover between 130-150 members as we are a guild that focuses on quality over quantity membership and remove non-participating members every month. We are most active in the evenings between 6pm and 10pm CST. We also maintain a active and social teamspeak with members on every evening to talk to.
We make an active effort to recruit new comers to the game such as yourself as we believe it is important to have a wide spectrum of veterans and new comers to maintain a active guild. We are very helpful and supportive of our new comers without pushing you to rush through the game. We will offer advice and any help you might need in accomplishing your goals.
Right now our play style focus is on the Living Story and its related achievements and events. We also still manage to get out and do some dungeons on almost a daily basis. We have a small presence in WvW and have a few players that sPvP.

I am not sure if this is a bug or not.
But is there any reason I should not be getting breach completion chests after killing a breach champ? This has happened several times sometimes more than once in a row for me and I have to end up restarting my client to fix this for the next breach.
It only seems to happen when all 5 are killed I just do not get a reward chest.

Hello webtoehobbit,
I currently lead a PvX guild on Yak’s Bend (but we accept members from other servers). We are a fairly casual guild of around 150 members most active in the evenings. We try to encourage all members to be social and be included on our guild runs. We also encourage people to be on teamspeak with us every evening and maintain an active social community there. It is our goal is to be an all inclusive guild and include everyone. That being said, we expect members to meet us half way and take an initiative to be social and speak up when they would like to be included.
You will get the most out of your guild experience here if you like being on Teamspeak. Teamspeak is where most of the guild runs are announced and planned before they reach guild chat and are on a first come first serve basis. We do not discriminate on any basis such as build, class, gear, experience or rank.
Our current focus right now is on the living story. We do the story, the achievements, and host map instances together. We also manage to go our and do a few dungeons or a fractal on nearly a daily basis.
Based on your post I think you would be a good fit for us as we look for quality membership over quantity. It sounds like you want to be a part of something rather than just take up roster space. We perfer and seek out players like you over players to just sit on our roster and never talk.

Awful lot of conjecture about the state of the game and speaking on behalf of players and arena net without a shred of supporting facts.
http://xunlaiheroes.wix.com/xhsa
Expansions are high cost-high risk-medium reward.
Gem store is low cost-low risk-high reward. For these reasons, an expansion is not likely.
I’ve said it before, but I think that this argument is fairly irrelevant.
As a new expansion (featuring, for the sake of the conversation, a new continent, classes, races, etc) would not only, as Galen said, bump the revenue of the Gem Store by bringing back old players, but would also open up a whole range of possible new items for the store.
Or it would not, and thus cost a ton of resources that result in a net loss.
Having an expansion does not guarantee that old players will buy it, nor does it guarantee that new players will buy in.
That’s why it is a high-risk option. You are committing a LOT of resources to something that can very easily flop hard. Gem store is safe. It takes very little resources to add new content so if they flop you aren’t losing much money.
Not to mention that players that burn through content and leave are not likely invest in gemstore items. Bringing back players that normally wouldn’t have stayed doesn’t equate to gemstore sales. Its the players that are attached to the game and their characters that buy that stuff.
Anets revenue model depends more on keeping players invested and logging in on a regular basis than bringing players in mass bursts to earn a subscription fee.

Stopped reading at “World of Warcraft”
Sorry, this game is not a WoW clone.
Some of us came here for something other than the box expansion content format. I prefer the living story format as it provides a continuous experience of something new to do every few weeks. As apposed to picking up an expansion burning through it in a few weeks, if that, then have nothing to do for another 6 months to a year.
People rant and rave about Guild Wars 1 Expansions, but they stopped putting out new content after 2 years. I played it from beta until gw2 release, almost a decade. Anyone that played after GW1 content peak of 2 years could tell you that 90% of the non-end game towns and mission content was completely dead. You HAD to have heroes to play by yourself.
Living story is much more conducive to a community than a expansion because it encourages people to stay active in the game to keep up with it. Not that I would mind an expansion but if I had to pick one over the other I would pick the living story 2 week episode format.

The way pvp tracks work. There are 3 different types. You can select any type you wish and progress them at any time. If you do not select one, it will be selected for you until you change it.
Dungeon tracks – These will be available and rotate over a limited time period unless you unlock them permanently by completing the story mode in PvE.
World Area Tracks – These rewards are based on things you could obtain in open world PvE. You unlock these tracks in a specific order. You must complete a world track to unlock an other area.
PvP Track – This is a pvp specific track that unlocks rewards and a armor that you can only obtain in PvP.
Reward tracks are progressed the fastest by ranked matches but there is no specific arena to play to progress a track. You can progress tracks through any PvP type except custom areans.

Think the best peice of advice anyone can give you is… Drop all your exceptions of this game being like WoW. You will be disappointed otherwise. It is vastly different in terms of combat, no trinity, content delivery, and gear structure, among other things.
That being said…
Race isn’t to important, The only real different is the story arc and some not so good elite skills. You can get away with playing any race for any class and it not have any effect on your statistical performance.
Guilds in this game are quite a bit different. You can be a member of up to five guilds but only represent one at a time. Representing allows you to see guild chats, benefit from guild buffs, and earn influence for that guild. Every guild kind of has their own play-style and focus you can belong to one guild or 5 depending on your own preference.
Statistical wise. Every max level player with Exotic gear (2nd best tier armor) is on pretty much on level ground with all other level 80 players. There is only a slight advantage for having Ascended gear (1st tier armor that is significantly harder to obtain) that is less than 5% advantage over exotic. There is no gear treadmill in this game. Once you hit max stats thats it. The rest armor based rewards is purely for looks. The skill cap for the vast majority of PvE is pretty low. there are higher difficulty content but they require coordination more than player skill.
As for the end game you will hear alot of different opinions on this. For PvE your end game will be dungeons, fractals, and living story. Fractals being the most ideal for end game because of the degree of difficulty levels that range form 1-50. WvW is also another end game option. It is 3 servers fighting against each other for control of 4 different maps. It can be quite fun with an organized community and there are seasonal tournaments between servers. PvP in this game is decent and has largely been untouched until recently. There will be an update for this on the 2nd.
Guild wars 2 is a really great game that is trying to break out and do something new with MMOs. If you are really looking to find something different and fresh you picked the right game. The content, features, and physical world constantly changes in this game. Unfortunately you have missed living story season one when the world was significantly changed when the main hub of the game was attacked and destroyed, but you can still witness the aftermath. To this day it has not been rebuilt.
Anyway welcome to the game, we hope you enjoy yourself, and if you are looking for a friendly group of players be sure to let me know.

Hello Will,
I currently lead a casual PvX guild in Yak’s Bend (but we accept members from any server). Our guild has a heavy focus on socialization and making friends. We are most active in the evenings (US).
Currently our current focus is on the living story but we still manage to get out and do dungeons or fractals on nearly a daily basis. We do have some people that WvW but since you are on a different server you would have to switch to play with us.
We do make use of teamspeak and the most social members of our guild talk in teamspeak over guild chat every night. I will be strait with you and tell you that you would get most our of your guild experience and get to know us better if you were on it. That being said, we do not require members to be on it except for dungeon runs.

The problem was Anet was able to satisfy them with the original Guild Wars. New classes, new continents, new skills, etc. The original Guild Wars released in 2005, and then we got two expansions in 2006. The problem is less the players demanding too much, and more ArenaNet no longer being able to keep up with demand.
Since ArenaNet opted to make the Living Story in place of an expansion, the Living Story needs to deliver the same quantity and quality content that an expansion would deliver. Unfortunately, the Living Story hasn’t been able to accomplish this, resulting in players demanding more content. To say that the players are just demanding too much is a little naive in my opinion, since there demand is based on what ArenaNet produced in the past.
I don’t know about this. Anet was able to satisfy for a very short time over 2005 and 2006. Their expansions took me maybe a week to 9 days to beat and 6+ months for them to make. Then that was it. Nothing but repeat achievements and titles. And if you weren’t into that you were gone after you beat it. Guild Wars 1 was done releasing content in two years. Anyone that played after this peak could tell you that 90% of the mission and non-end game towns were dead dead dead. This is not something that I would want for Guild Wars 2.
Guild wars 2 seems to have content plans that are years beyond this. Personally, I prefer the format living story 2 has brought us. I can play something new every 2 weeks and complete the achievements related to this content as I wait for the next episode. It also keeps all your friends/guildies at a reasonable same pace progression instead of the faster people leaving the slower ones in the dust. I think this makes the game last much longer and more active than dropping an expansion every 6-12 months. There is something new to come back to all the time.
If you are looking for a MMO to commit to for years at a time the living story format is far superior to that of the box expansion format. Anet’s aim is to keep you playing consistently, not for a few weeks every 6 months to a year. The only problem they seem to have is people that expect this game to be like every other game they pick up, burn through, and drop until the next expansion. Nothing wrong with that format but this is just not this game.
If you expect expansion level content to be perpetually provided to you in 2 week increments… sorry that is just not feasible to do and it is a unrealistic expectation.

Hello Desolation,
I currently lead a casual PvX guild In Yaks Bend. We have a strong focus on PvE. Currently our primary activity is living story but we still do manage to get out and do some dungeons. We are by no means a serious guild, we do not discriminate based on builds, experience, class, or anything else on our guild runs. If you meet the minimum require set by the game our dungeon and fractals runs are on a first come first serve basis.
Most of us are adults if not all of us. Their is an excessive amount of adult humor in our guild so this should not be a problem. The core of the guild also maintains an active teamspeak every evening. Members are encouraged (but not required) to come socialize with us. We are always looking to make new friends and we feel voice chat is the best way to do this while playing the game.
We do not require 100% for our lowest ranks and the ranks that do require 100% rep for do have exceptions for personal guild banks. We have about 150+ members with 20-30 online in the evening hours. Our main focus is being social and giving the opportunity to members to build friendships.
You can read more basic information about us on our most recent recruitment post here.
I feel y’all would be a good fit for us and I hope to hear from you soon.

I think what he means is that when someone logs in and says “Hi” everyone says “Hi”. But if a person logs in a few seconds after that and says “Hi”, nobody says “Hi”. I guess because people think that person is replying or because everyone already said “Hi”.
I think what he is asking for is an indicator in guild chat that people have logged on.

Hello InfernoHero,
I currently lead a casual PvX guild in Yak’s Bend (but we accept members from any server). We have been running guild missions every week for over a year now without fail. We host them every Friday open to the public including today. Here is our public posting for today. http://redd.it/2mznrb
Our guild is mostly adults, pretty laid back, and have more of a focus on being social and playing together than anything else. It gets pretty routy in our teamspeak and guild chat so “mature” chat should not be an issue.
We are not a meta guild by any means. We are not gear/build discriminate on our guild dungeon and fractal runs.
We do make sure of teamspeak 3 and the core of our guild is on there every evening. Yes, there is cursing, you should fit right in. We do not make it mandatory for members to be on there but we do require it if they wish to participate in dungeons or fractals.
I believe we have proper leadership…. really because I am the leadership… I have been running this guild for a decade now. I do delegate leadership duties out so the guild functions in my absence, but the buck stops with me. I cant promise that there will be 24/7 coverage to solve problems like you described, but I have never had such an issue where arguments exploded in the absence of management to where a newer member had to mediate it. Some of our members do like to have heated debates about the game and what is effective, but trolling and personal attacks are never acceptable and people like that are not tolerated here.
We do not cookie cutter recruit so each member is talked to and invited on a individual basis to ensure they will fit in well and that their needs will be met here.
If you want to read some basic info about us you can do so on our most recent recruitment post.
I think you would be a good fit for us and hope to hear from you soon.

That is why our main focus in this game is building an active social environment because the game is much more fun with friends.
Our guild’s core community is active on teamspeak 3 every evening. If you are active in teamspeak you will get the most out of our guild in terms of social interaction and making friends. We are a real easy group to get along with and love to welcome social people into our community.
We have a strong focus on PvE but do occasionaly do WvW/Eotm runs and have some members that sPvP such as myself. Our current focus is the living story but we still manage to do dungeons and fractals on nearly a daily basis.
I have been leading this guild for over a decade so you can be sure that we will be around for many more years. So you can be sure your time investment will not be wasted here.
You can read more basic info about us here.

I think you would be a good fit for us and hope to hear from you soon.

Hello Mikau,
I lead a casual PvX Guild in Yak’s Bend. We have been doing guild missions every week for over a year without fail. We host them every Friday approx hour after reset time open to the public so we always have plenty of personnel available to complete them. Our public posting can be viewed here. http://redd.it/2mznrb
As we always love to welcome new people into our community we do require that new members represent for more than just the guild missions as we like to keep our roster looking active. Repeat guests are always welcome. Please consider this if you are looking for a guild for just the missions rather than joining a community. You can read more information about us here.
Whatever your choice, I look forward to hearing from you soon and hope you choose to become a part of our community.

This doesn’t happen when you jump, fall, kill something, or switch weapons in addition to chat bubbles. Not to mention the auto tone voice that seems to be louder than other dialog that some of us find very annoying….. Thats whats different.
When a zerg in wvw or eotm have this its all you hear. At-least make this a player generated sound we can turn off. I don’t want to have to turn off all dialog because it can be a indicator of an enemy being nearby. Especially when you are trying to find a downed thief and you hear a “help me please!”.

I like this post.
I think a standard format for “looking for guild” posts should be added and this post should defiantly be stickied. I think this would help recruiters and players find better fits for each other.
Something like….
Server preference: (NA or EU, Specific server is a must or will accept any guild server?)
Play Type Preference: (PvE, PvP, WvW, PvX, ect)
Player Style: (Casual or Hardcore)
Active Time: (I am most commonly online during…)
Voice preference: (very active in/when necessary use/refuse to use… voice programs)
Social preference: (I am looking for a small close community/large loosely affiliated community/ect)
Body: (Introduction of yourself, any requirements and expectations you might have, and anything you feel is relevant for a recruiter to know)

Hello Brizmuth,
I host a mid size PvX guild in Yaks Bend (But we accept members from all services). We have a heavy focus on PvE. Our current focus is the living story with groups for achievements and events formed daily. We also do regular guild dungeon and fractal runs. We also make use of Teamspeak 3 where we have a close community of participating members that log everyday for socialization and companionship.

People assume that if they bring in money from something as simple as a premium subscriptions, skins, or other bells and whistles that it will equate to more content.
Where do people get this idea?
If a company can make a large profit margin on something that takes little effort/ resources to create, do you find it sound business since to then turn around and produce something that takes substantially more effort/resources for free or for a much lesser profit margin?
Of course not.
It literately takes them no effort to produces skins and other bells and whistles compared to making more captivating content. They will continue to put in the bare minimum to keep enough people in the game in terms of content until people stop throwing money at bells and whistles.
Unfortunately this is what the industry has become because players have made it profitable to behave in such a manner. And while yes Guild wars 2 is a great game and is very moderate in terms of being a money grubbing pay 2 win game. It could very easily become this way if the community doesn’t resist it enough.
I am fairly confident that alot of us rather be paying for more dungeons, maps, and other captivating content than have what they push on us right now and not having the option for more content at all. So don’t buy it and they won’t try to sell it to us.

Right now our focus is on the living story with groups forming daily for achievements and events. We also have members that form dungeon and fractal parties especially on the weekends. We also have a very active teamspeak in the evenings if you are interested.

Hello Blackspade.
I lead a PvX guild on Yak’s Bend (but we accept pve players from any server). Our guild has a strong focus on PvE which includes members that run dungeons regularly. Although we may miss a day or two here and there we do run a few dungeons a day. We are also not very strict or elitist about our runs and we are always willing to take dungeon newcomers as long as they are willing to use teamspeak for effective communication and teaching.
Right now our focus is on the living story content but we still have groups out there doing dungeons. You can read more basic info about us here.

I thought the bosses were a refreshing change from the stack and spank enemies we have seen so much. They were not difficult at all as someone that runs hambow with knights gear. I don’t know where ppl are getting that you need DPS. All you had to do is take a minute and observe the mechanics.
If your the kind of person that totally ignores enemy and buff/debuff bar descriptions, expects to stand in one place, and spam whatever attacks you want. I could see how you wouldn’t do well.
This is the kind of thing the game needs to see if the zerker and stack n’ spam meta is to ever be curved. Hard hitting enemies and bosses with complex mechanics.
As a fan of the difficulty derived from GW1 Beyond and hard mode, I am glad that we are starting to see an increase of AI and mechanics in PvE.
