Reporting in that this was still bugged on Saturday June 14th. Maybe they were a little careless when they removed npcs from Vigil keep, but seems to be an ongoing problem.

I don’t think the class itself is overpowered, anyone that has played it will tell you making a mistake can get you killed easy. But stealth needs to have a counter like everything else in this game or have a cool down before you can stealth again.

To many people want to use a un-counterable mechanic dance around and do their damage or run off when their life gets low and call it skill.

It would be like knock down, daze, or stun didn’t have a counter, there is just some classes and builds that can’t do anything against a well played thief.

WvW Tournament Rewards Distribution Delay

in WvW

Posted by: Mireles Lore.5942

Mireles Lore.5942

Just looking back before the game’s release on how the developers were looking to make this game an eSport and fub something so simple on their 2nd WvW Tournament is absolutely laughable. It seems like developers have no clue as to why this problem occurred, and in no hurry to “investigate” the problem. Its like instead of going in and rebuilding code to fix problems, you are putting band-aid patch work to fix the problem that only fixes some majority situations.

Anet, You need hire a brand new team to handle WvW/sPVP and to put more resources into testing if you haven’t already totally abandoned the idea of this game becoming anything close to a eSport. Perhaps you can get everything right the 3rd time around.

The fact that it looks like that fixing something that should have been simple is going to take weeks if not months looks like very poor planning. Maybe you should not have implemented a server overhaul in the middle of a tournament where servers were involved in the reward process. It seems like some of the same people that had problems with daily resets back in April and finished their meta before the April 15th update are the same people not getting their rewards.

Do you get horrible drops, too, when everyone around you is getting exotics? LOL you may be on to something here.

I still have yet to even get a chest… I’m on yaks and my place indicator says 4th when my entire guild’s says 2nd… Think somewhere along the line some depending on where you were when April’s 15th patch hit, screwed up something to do with the game recognizing your server.

Laidri, Good Concept, Bad Execution

in Festival of the Four Winds

Posted by: Mireles Lore.5942

Mireles Lore.5942

I am posting this thread to make an argument for this one boss in particular. I am all for having challenging content that only a small percentage of players can actually do, but her creation was a mistake, and we can rectify that mistake for some the community.

Let me start off by saying that this is intended to be a constructive conversation about this boss and the gauntlet itself. Not for self congratulations or to tell other players that they are bad and that they need to L2P.

Having already beat this boss twice one last year and again this year…

I am calling for this boss to be nurfed, make her attacks do actual numerical damage, its execution was very poor and has caused a high degree of frustration and toxicity among the players and the generally community.

Now before my head gets bitten off let me say. The difficulty of this boss and the prestige of the title has already been compromised. Some of you already know that there is a certain class with a certain skill that allows Laidri to be killed without ever having an orb thrown at her, negating just about all the difficulty of this fight. I myself have seen this personally over and over again for alot of people that would not have beaten her otherwise. This is not fair to players who did not use this exploit, or can not beat this boss normally and not have this title.

Nurfing this boss will put all players back on even footing and relieve some grief some players are suffering through not fault of their own other than having a not so par ISP or system

The first problem 1-hit kill mechanics as it requires a narrow critical build thinking. 1-hit mechanics effectively make gear, skills, and traits meant to reduce damage effectively useless. I don’t think a productive way to introduce challenge into the game is limiting options and it makes the fight more of a gear/build check as it does an actual combat intensive challenge. A challenge should invoke critical thinking and creativity, not limit it to a handful of gear sets and skills.

The second problem is that this boss is a quality check for systems and ISPs. Having experienced the fight on both a high speed and not so quality internet connection. It can make all the difference in the world. I have been unable to kill Laidri again since I moved to a temporary location with a not so quality internet connection. The “bugs” people have claimed are not bugs but just lag. Yes, you do get hit when you are outside the circle of the AoE. You can try to pick up an blazing light orb, see you character bend down to pick it up, move away and it still be on the ground. You can also destroy one of those chaos orbs and it still pull you even though you destroyed it a second ago. You can also get blown up by a vision without being near it because the game still registers you at that location. The one hit mechanic amplifies the problem of lag 100x than any other combat scenario in the game, and requires you to win the “didn’t lag lottery”. Players should not suffer such harsh exclusivity because of the quality of the connection as this game was marketed compatible with lower end systems and internet connections.

Third, not all arenas are equal Many of you already know the north-west arenas are the best arenas to fight this boss in because the mechanics are misaligned making the fight much more difficult because of light pool and AoE placements.

While I love the idea of the gauntlet, gambits, and all the bosses and achievements that preceded Laidri, she was a mistake and her difficulty is artificial and compromised. I am all for having challenging content that only a small percentage of players can complete, but this is not that boss. This gauntlet is a great idea, and I would even go as far as adding it as permanent content with a sPvP format to allow for build expermentation. Also the addition of new bosses mechanics being added which I was disappointed I did not see this year.

I hope this thread can invoke constructive conversation about the future of the gauntlet. I don’t want to see this idea disappear because of the gate this boss would create to a preceding tier of newer bosses.

Queensdale's Death

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mireles Lore.5942

Mireles Lore.5942

There are, however, four problems with this change, all of which I’ll go into in detail as best I can. They are as follows:

  • A massive hit to Economic Action (or Economic Movement, if you prefer that term)
  • A not-inconsiderable hit to getting new players/alts to higher levels quickly and easily (no one wants to stay in the starter zones for an eternity, and the trains were a fine way of getting you up to level 30 fast)
  • A detrimental effect on the game’s presentation to new players (difficulty, opportunity, necessity of teamwork, etc.)
  • A clear and fundamental shift from what Guild Wars 2 prided itself on offering apart from other MMORPGs: a cross-world experience for all players, young and old, that would be made available and enjoyable to players regardless of their in-game level.

I just wanted to add some counter points to your perceived problems with the removal of the queensdale train.

1.) What you call “economic movement” most others would call inflation. Having this train easily accessible to all player new or old severely devalued a single gold coin’s economic value and therefore devalued all other flat rate rewards in the game because they do not scale with inflation and required more effort than this train. The devs are trying to make it to where playing a variety of challenging of content is a more effective way of making gold than running in a circle in a zone for several hours.

Inflation is a problem considered by the developers. It is why some things have gotten so expensive and they are adding things like the cost of gold to start the boss blitz to try to suck some of the gold out of the market. Ending this train slows the production of gold therefore slows the rate of inflation.

2.) The leveling experience for a brand new player is harmed when a train like this exists in the starter area. A leveling experience should include critical thinking and the learning of how to play ones class to overcome challenges. Otherwise a new player can get to level 80 in one zone and never experience any of the lower level maps or content as intended, hindering the learning experience.

The queens-dale train does not offer a learning experience. It only consists of running on a set path killing the same enemies, not invoking any critical thinking or reason to learn your traits or improve your combat ability and knowledge. This by itself can be harmful to the player and the community when a player that has gotten to 1-80 on a queen-dale train moves directly to end-game content where the learning curve would be to steep to make up for everything this player should have learned about their class during a normal leveling process.

3.) I don’t see how removing champions or this train has a detrimental effect on the games presentation if new players don’t even know it existed. All the normal opportunities before this train exists. The path that players are intended to take through the world are still there. And the necessity of teamwork is anything but diminished as it becomes more necessary for the player to acquire help and advice to get through the worlds intended path of leveling and progression.

The queensdale train offered nothing in terms of difficulty or teamwork. It was simple as following the path and tagging bosses. No coordination required. Nothing was learned during this train. It was very little effort with a high yield exp reward, this did not belong in a starter area.

No longer should it be rewarding to be silent, follow a zerg, and spam 1. The best way to earn rewards should be to socialize, learn, and coordinate to overcome challenges.

4.) A clear fundamental shift from what? I don’t see how removing this train prevents players from playing with each-other. High level players are still able to play with their low level friends, and of course the game is going to have some sort of level progression, unless you are suggestion we remove level progression from the game entirely.

Remember, Liadri was horrible

in Living World

Posted by: Mireles Lore.5942

Mireles Lore.5942

My question is did anyone who posted hate against Liadri beat her? I’ve seen plenty of people on the forums against the OP and similar OP’s who enjoyed her, like myself.
On a side note I beat her with a staff guardian only while using a shout condi cleanse build, not specced for DPS. Continue please.

I beat her, and I didn’t like the mechanics that brought her about, high failure rate 1-hit kill mechanics does not equate to challenging or quality content, just frustration.

Absolutely loved the gauntlet until I got to that boss. The only enjoyment that I got from killing her was the idea that I would never have to do it again.

Why don’t I like her?

It wasn’t the boss itself that was a challenge it was the 1-hit kill environment, totally independent of the NPC, it just kept raining 1-hit kills. You could add that to any NPC and have a similar experience. It was a really lazy way to increase fail rates for the sake of having a high fail rate. To call it “fun and challenging” would be like calling RNG in this game challenging because of the high fail rate.

As a community, I think, we should demand that content be more captivating and require critical thinking. Not roll your face until you get the dance right 1-hit kill content. It just seemed to me it was a really lazy and bland attempt to make “challenging” content. It wasn’t all that challenging, everyone knew what to do, it just depended on if you were willing to put in the practice to get the dance right so those people can feel superior over those who didn’t/couldn’t.

Everyone hated Liadri

in Living World

Posted by: Mireles Lore.5942

Mireles Lore.5942

Saying “everyone” hated Liadri is of course going to bring people out that will post just to disagree with you.

Having beat her. The gauntlet concept was great. Laidri however was the laziest boss ever created. It wasn’t her that was hard, it was the 1 hit environment hazard completely independent of the NPC bosses actions that was hard. You can add that to any of the bosses and have the same “hardcore” boss fight.

It looks like to me some dev created her, thought to himself that she needed to have a high fail rate for the sake of having one, and couldn’t think of anything but to add raining 1 hit kills. This didn’t do anything in the term of difficulty except it making you have to wait and repeat if over and over until you got the dance right.

There was nothing “hardcore” about this boss as raining 1 hit kills didn’t require critical thinking to counter. It was simply something that had to be repeated until you were able to complete despite the fact.

While there is nothing wrong with having enjoyed Liadri. I think as a community we should demand more captivating content that requires critical thinking and strategy before calling it challenging or hardcore. 1 hit mechanics are a really lazy and dull way to increase failure rates.

[XHSA][PvX]Community Focused

in Looking for...

Posted by: Mireles Lore.5942

Mireles Lore.5942

Xunlai Heroic Services Agents [XHSA] is currently looking for PvE & WvW players with a focus on community and playing together from any server. Some quick facts about us can be found below.

Server: Yak’s Bend

Roster Count: 180+ members (167 in Yaks Bend & 122 in Full Representation)

Peak Hours: 7PM – 11PM CDT

Minimum joining requirements: The only requirement we have of new members is that they log on at-least once a month and rep regularly during the time they spend online. We do not require you to be on Yak’s Bend for PvE but will be needed if you want to WvW with us. (full rep not required)

To request an invite please send me an in-game mail on Mireles Lore.5942

What We Have To Offer:

We offer a helpful community that focuses on building relationships with newcomers and veterans alike by helping them become more effective at accomplish their goals as well as fostering a casual zero discrimination gaming environment. We do not exclude members from dungeons, fractals, or WvW runs based on experience, rank, stats, class, build, gear, or anything else. If you meet the minimum level requirements set by the game the runs are on a first come, first serve basis. If needed we will happily educate you on how to be effective for the activity in question.

We also host community events. Our most popular and consistent are guild missions every Saturday around server reset. We also host jumping puzzle trains, raid-like world boss runs, and certain raid like Living Story events. Some will be open to the public as this is a guild that likes to give back to the public community.

We do have global guild buffs for as long as you are representing. We offer increased gold, magic, and gathering rates 24 hours a day 7 days a week. In edition to these during Saturday decreased way-points costs and increased WvW exp gain will be active all day.

We also have a very active teamspeak. We strongly suggest the use of teamspeak for most of our runs as it is the most effective means to communicate directions in and out of combat. We also encourage it for just social use as it helps bring a more immersive social experience.

Quality over Quantity Membership:

Here at XHSA we take pride in keeping our roster active and clean. This is not an alt “join it and forget it until guild events” guild. New members (Initiates) are expected to represent regularly during the time they spend online. Initiates are checked every month for activity and are removed every month if they have not logged on and represented within the last monthly check, or are seen online and excessively not representing for the vast majority of time they spend online. We also remove people that have not logged on for a extended period of time depending on what rank they hold. We do offer guests invites to nearly all of our events and welcome repeat guests, so please keep this in mind when considering our guild. We also offer longer inactive tolerance and increased privileges for members that have pledged and maintained 100% representation. Currently over 75% active members are 100% representation members a ratio we try to maintain. We will not try to impose 100% rep obligation upon you, it is our belief that if we provide a superior gaming experience members will pledge this on their own.

If you have any questions best way to reach me is in-game on Mireles Lore.5942

Thank you for your interest and time, we look forward to serving those that wish to join us.

PvE Dueling

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mireles Lore.5942

Mireles Lore.5942

I don’t see why you need to have a duel option in PvE except for those people that get upset about what is said in map chat and want to be like “come at me bro!”.

If two consenting people want to duel they can do so in sPvP custom match. We don’t need people randomly fighting each-other or picking fights in what is supposed to be a cooperative environment when we have a specific place for that already.

As for the above argument, both can already happen in game one just requires you to move to an area where the playing field is level. I don’t see whats so hard about this concept.

PvE is for cooperation.
sPvP is for player vrs player.

We don’t need to combine the two.

If two consenting people want to duel in sPvP custom match, I will be there and interrupt their duel.

It is exactly like: If a dungeon party want to complete a dungeon, a griefer would come in and killing the final boss thus barring you from completing the dungeon and stopping you from getting the rewards.

So no, custom arena do not work, not now not ever.

Yes just conveniently ignore the fact that some are password protected.

Also conveniently ignore the fact that a duel can be interrupted by simply pulling mobs to you in PvE.

Conveniently ignoring facts or griefing people doesn’t make your argument a good one.

Daily reset bugged

Mireles Lore.5942

Have had this same problem 3 resets in a row now. Dailys that I have completed since the update have not reset and stay permanently completed despite daily reset. People that do dailys have missed out on 2-3 days of rewards now.

So, I been asking around and I think I know what caused people’s daily not to reset.

Obviously not everyone has this problem. It also seems people that have this problem have problems with other things not reseting such as world boss and dungeon rewards.

Those that I know have this problem can confirm they loaded into a map that was changed to a mega server map on the first load into the game right after downloading the patch. These people likely also noticed their daily and monthly has been reset before reset time.

It may be helpful to confirm if you loaded into a megaserver map right after the patch, and have you had your monthlies also reset. It could help nail down the problem for developers.

Also, a indication from the devs that this is being resolved would be quite appreciated.

Will guild limit ever be raised above five?

Why are people in so many guilds? I have a hard time keeping track of names/alts in the active guild I’m in now, let alone if I was in 4 others.
I can see having a guild for PvE and one for WvW and maybe sPvP, though thats really drawing lines in separating gameplay.
I’m just curious as to why people are in so many guilds and want to be in more….

From what I have come to understand in my experience, alot of guilds out there are glorified friends lists that have people that just have not found a place that provides the experience they are looking for while fitting in.

Will guild limit ever be raised above five?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mireles Lore.5942

Mireles Lore.5942

Sounds like if you need more than 5 guilds, the quality of the 5 you have is relatively poor. While having freedom to join multiple guilds can be good. Having no cap or even a high cap will fracture guild populations even more. There needs to be a reachable point that a person must choose to leave or not join a guild.

Been a guild leader for almost a decade now.

At first I didn’t find the rep system particularly good. Without regulation or solid rep policy, it can be devastating to a guild as you can watch your members evaporate without then having actually left. But after learning how to use it to my advantage I think its a good system.

I do have 100% rep rule for all ranks except the entry level rank. The entry level rank is a way to let people try out your guild before that would not normally commit to one, but still regularly contribute to the guild. We have gained more loyal members by being able to provide flexibility, and having a public “guest for our events” system than any other hard recruiting methods in Guild Wars 1 and 2. This is because we keep our squares green.

We have members and we have guests, we don’t let people that only show up for 2 hours for guild missions once a week sit on our roster, we have them request a guest invite every week. Keeping your squares green is important because thats how people measure how active you are.

If you are providing a superior gaming and social experience members will pledge 100% rep on their own and will not need other guilds except for maybe storage purposes. A rep policy can make or break a guild.

Feedback: Max Daily/Monthly AP

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mireles Lore.5942

Mireles Lore.5942

And by “eventually” lose out on the AP, you of course mean years and years from now…

I have not missed one laurel since they released the daily, and I’m around 4k AP from daily. So, basically I will hit the 10k number, in, I dunno, another 1.5yrs.

4k from dailies so far
1.5k from monthlies
6.5k from permanent

So basically, if I stopped doing ANY other AP hunting, and just focused on my 10k and 5k cap, I will have ~22k AP. Now factor in all of the WvW AP, LS AP, PvP AP, tournament AP, mini game AP, and all of the normal AP.

Are you really, honestly complaining about this cap? You should be well on your way to 25k AP by the time you hit it, unless your only source of AP has been dailies and monthlies, in which case, time to start playing the actual game instead of focusing on one area to get your AP. Plus the dailies are still there. A couple of years from now you can still do your daily, you just won’t get AP from it. Big deal.

True AP hunters get AP from everywhere, not just from daily/monthly grinding.

Anet wants there to be a max possible AP to hit. No one is losing out on any AP. They set the rules. If they’ve decided that 30k AP, or whatever the absolute maximum happens to be, is the maximum possible AP obtainable, then that is your new goal. That is what you work towards. That’s it. End of issue. No more infinite AP sources.

No, I don’t mean years and years from now. I myself have about 5k in daily, 1K in monthly, and 9k in perma (I have done all temp content since beta). Some people in my guild have even more than this in daily that and we are only at 15k AP. We are not even on the leader-boards, people have ahead of us have much more AP in daily.

So lets actually do the math… even give a handicap and lets forget about the PvP daily points. There are 12 achievements a day that you can normally get in the span of 2 hours.

Starting from 5,000 flat left to get today

5000/12 = 416 and 2/3rd days which is 1.15 years. Remember this does not include PvP dailys in which case it would be even less. So yes it will effect some of us in the coming year. And yes people have much more than 5k daily AP.

Other than that… all your statements were non-information unsubstantiated authoritative statements.

You do not work for Anet.

You do not speak on thier behalf.

Playing doing the dailies can be earned by playing “the actual game”. Sorry if I am not in such a big hurry to grind out kill 5,000 of every monster type and get 5,000 kills on every weapon because that is literally all that there is left for me to do. Its the daily that is the only thing left that is rewarding at all.

Rather be out doing dungeons, fractals, WvW, and sPvP. I was under the impression that this was the actual game.

I think its a bit ridiculous that people that enjoy playing the game and doing dailys will eventually lose out on the AP they need to unlock chests because “completionists” don’t have the self control to stop doing something they don’t enjoy and they feel the need to dictate how people should play and be rewarded.

Just a few reasons for the cap

-" Newer players have some chance of “catching up” with older players is one reason and something that has been discussed in the past a lot."

I said this alot already in previous posts. It doesn’t help anyone catch up to anything. Because everyone suffers the limitation. It just gives people the illusion of catching up when the front is slowed down. But once they pass that 10k daily mark, everyone that is trying will be moving at one pace because based on previous experience. Unless you were there from the beginning to have all the temp content cheeves, you are still forever behind.

“As the game is now, a very high percentage of the total AP a player can earn come from Dailies/Monthlies (and quite a few from temporary content). It is well known that the game needs way more Permanent content and that includes Achievement Points too.”

I agree, but the answer would be to add more permanent content that rewards greater than the daily… not to impose limits on what people can earn by playing regularly.

“I don’t think anyone has 10k APs from Dailies yet (maybe I’m wrong) but I’m absolutely sure nobody is close to 5k monthly. I’m at nearly 20k APs total and have 8k Daily and just 1.5k monthly, a rather long way to go until I reach either cap. They introduce the cap early enough so nobody loses anything from it.”

I am pretty sure there is, alot of people… like myself are around 15k achievement points with 5,554 being from daily, some people have more than this… As for the monthly cap, no where near the cap. I would be satisfied with a cap that doesn’t make my daily participation obsolete within the coming year.

“The idea of them sending away players by introducing the cap is just silly. The Living World achievements will continue to appear every 2 weeks, if S2 continues with the same pattern kitten. So the AP hunters will always have something more to acquire.”

I never said it would send away anyone other than me, but I am fairly certain there would be some that agree with me. I enjoy doing the dailies with my guild as it is a common goal to rally your friends too. If the reward for that gets taken away it would diminish the reasoning why we do them. Just because there is an alternative to AP doesn’t make it a good reason to limit another area of play. What if a player likes to do dailys and not LS? should their reason for playing just expire?

“-As it is now, the devs will be “forced” to introduce new gear very soon. At 21k you get either Radiant or Hellfire boots and at 24k the other pair. If the pattern is followed, at 27k they need to introduce new gear again and I doubt we will see Radiant/Hellfire chest/legging armor as the AP gear doesn’t have a weight class and it will be hard to make Chest/Leggings that look good on all Light/Medium/Heavy. We will also run out of Zenith skins at 28k APs…"

So you are saying… because players are progressing so much they need to be slowed down for anet to stay ahead in armor development?

Wouldn’t the proper solution be to scale down how much AP u can earn on a daily basis instead of instituting a permanent cap that would literately punish people by lowering their reward effectiveness for playing to much?

I am struggling to understand what exactly they are trying to fix with this cap… I realize people out there don’t like the idea of earning rewards indefinitely but why take that away from others?

This limitation benefits the whole playerbase, because it introduces a ceiling for achievement points.

Now the # of achievements is less based on how long you’ve played and how many dailies/monthlies you completed, and more on how much you accomplished in the game temporary/permanent content

How is it less based on how long you played, when there are many temporary living story goals that new players will never be able to obtain? Seems like that makes it more based on how long you been playing. Like I said before it merely serves to be harder to catch up to people that have been playing since the beginning. After 10,000 daily points the effort needed to maintain a lead drastically drops.

If you are a new player that has already missed on 1,000s of AP points from temp content. You already lost because the rest of the perma/daily content is now capped. You have no hope to catch up until people at the top quit all together.

I just don’t see how anyone is benefited by being limited on what they can earn playing regularly.

How does it improve the whole playerbase experience by limiting what a certain group of dedicated players can earn? What other people earn in AP has no effect on other players so why cap it?

If you played this game simply because of daily achievements, then I doubt GW2 is for you.

Just because someone else’s playstyle is different than yours doesn’t mean it isn’t valid. The whole world shouldn’t have to look just like you, eat the same foods you do, or like the same activities you do, etc.

True, but the whole world operates on the needs of the many outweighing the needs of the few.

Why should we make a change that is only beneficial for a select few people when it’s better for everyone?

In game terms, why should Anet make a change to the game that satisfies such a small minority of people when it could make everyone else happy?

If Anet loses OP as a player, I don’t think they’ll care because, again, it’s a small minority and the ‘sacrifice’ of one player is enough to keep the majority satisfied.

Who exactly benefits? Why do they benefit from a limitation?

All this people that suddenly know who is in what majority is in favor of before many people have even yet to be informed on the change. Where can I buy one of these crystal balls that tells me what the 10s of thousands of guild wars players think?

People here have such selective reasoning when it comes to substantiating their own opinions.

I am all for accepting this change is someone can explain to my why it should be done. All I’ve heard is “I’m playing the game wrong”, “there are other options”, and other exaggerated statements that people cant substantiate with concrete reasons.

Really what does this fix?

Who benefits from players being limited on what they can earn?

This levels the playing field a little for those that are trying to catch up on the achievement leader-boards. That (I imagine) is why the changes are being implemented.; it’s the same reason that other infinite achievement point sources are capped.

It doesn’t help you. It limits your ability to catch up. For a player that already has 10k daily points; no longer has to make the effort to keep doing them, like you do, to maintain a lead. If and when you get to 10,000 daily points, you already lost. This is because he has been playing longer, earned more temp content points, and has a minimal chance of falling behind on new AP because he does not have to make a daily effort.

No-one has to make a daily effort: that’s the point. They can just play for enjoyment rather than grind. Those 10k will come eventually for everyone if they keep playing.

Pretty much everyone I’ve heard from thinks this is a positive change. Clearly you disagree, but on the whole any change that most people get behind is likely to be good for the long-term health of the game.

So now the argument is nobody has to make a daily effort?

Pretty much everyone? says who? you? I don’t claim to be in the majority I cant possibly measure, and don’t need to pretend so to make points. If your point is “everyone likes it” is a pretty weak point considering you have no substantiation.

I thought we were just talking about catching up in context that there was a competition on the leader-boards. With that logic nobody has to make an effort to do anything… still doesn’t explain why we are capped. “Those 10k will come eventually for everyone” will come with or without a cap.

Why should players be restricted after 10k? Seems to be the question nobody can answer.

Small vocal minority.

If you’re gonna get angry and quit over something like this, then by all means.

Was it not a smaller Minority that wanted the AP’s capped though, the climb in AP’s didn’t mean anything to Anet, some groups in game used them as a competition, me and a few friends did, but effectively now, after getting all ingame AP’s ( minus the huge grind ones WvW for example ) we will start capping out and everyone will catch up,

So much for playing the game how you want, I wanted to farm AP’s with friends for our in game fun, Anet have all but said to bad that’s coming to an end, because it seemed that a small group of people didn’t want to farm AP’s thus wanted the cap.

Anet would have been better just saying, we are capping AP’s at 20k, if you are higher than that, we will downgrade you to 20k, then everyone can be equal, the way they want it.

I meant it’s a small minority that would complain about such a feature.

The kind of minority that would only play this game for daily achievements, which using common sense, isn’t that big anyway.

If you played this game simply because of daily achievements, then I doubt GW2 is for you.

Thank you for informing us on what I should enjoy and what I should play for. I must of missed that memo from Anet that tells me how to enjoy their game. Perhaps you work for them? You do seem confident in your unsubstantiated authoritative statements.

It’s not really about the score. Its about your ability to unlock rewards is diminished because of the way you earned them. This is not supportive of the idea of “Play How You Want”.

If you enjoyed playing all aspects of the game and being rewarded for it on a regular basis… You have alot to lose by this cap for seemingly no apparent reason at all.

The reason seems to be the leaderboards. Some people are really focused on them and think they can’t get ahead if there are monthlies and dailies.

That is the thing though, you put this cap on, people will be forever behind having missed temporary content. It should take alot of work to get every point available when its available, because it makes it possible for players to fall behind. If its all capped, nobody ever falls behind because it is easier to keep up with all the points.

If you are at 10,000 daily AP, congratulations you no longer have to put an effort in to keep players from passing you with daily points. They will have to existed since you started playing and keep pace with everything you do just to tie you.

The idea above just doesn’t make since to me…

Yes because everyone knows Vol is the ultimate authority on all guild wars 2 player population statistics…

I am just trying to understand if there is a reason for this cap that takes away rewards for players for any other reason beyond people wanting to feel like they can stop doing it to feel “completionist”. What feature did this cap “fix” exactly?

I am going to assume from the lack of substantiated direct answers to this question means no, there really isn’t a reason.

I don’t think anyone will lose AP. The cap, the way I see it, is designed to get people to do other things for AP then just grind dailies and monthlies. You’ll still be able to get as many AP as you could wish for, but after 10,000 AP from dailies, and 5,000 AP from monthlies, you’ll stop getting AP from those catagories. And 10,000 AP just from dailies is alot. considering how you only get 1 per catagory, about 10 a day if you do all of them. So that would take a little under 3 years to get 10,000 AP from just doing dailies EVERY DAY.

Taking away something doesn’t get other people to do other things. And some of us have done everything else.

Yeah you could get other AP, But new AP can often be completed well before the time limit. What if I was playing because I was being rewarded for what I enjoy instead of lets say farming 5,000 kills on a particular weapons or farming 5,000 of a enemy type… what happened to play how you want?

IE, what reward does someone have to play daily if they have completed a theoretical story 1 week before new content comes? Nothing if the cap is reached.

The theoretical “10 a day” argument is invalid…. there is well above this ammount that can be earned and are by alot of players. I am over 5,000 points daily, the reward for playing what I enjoy is effectively over in less than a year and a half. Taking away potential AP away from dedicated players effectively ends the game for them. There is no rational reason to want this unless your mentality doesn’t permit you to stop, which is a character flaw not a game design flaw.

What reason should a reward track that supposed to encourage regular play abruptly end? I can’t think of a good one.

I suppose it depends on why you are doing the dailies and monthlies? are you doing them just for AP? then this might seem like a hinderance, but if , like me and many others, do the dailies and monthlies not for AP, but for the chests, laurals etc. then the cap isn’t really an issue. I don’t see anyone quitting the game they’ve invested so much time and/or money into just because they no longer get a few AP from doing dailies. You’ll still get the rewards, but no AP after the cap. There are lots of ways of getting AP, and they might introduce more, so it’s not going to be a hinderance to get the AP chests, just might require a different strategy.

Also how are you getting more then 10 AP a day just from the daily catagories? not including PVP dailies?

I do all the dailies, the days I am able to log on… Its what many in my guild group together to do PvE, WvW, PvP…. anything that is on the list that day. And that isn’t every day. Trust me there are many players out there that have already broke this cap.

You’re still going to get laurels, [chance at BL item], mystic coins, the MF consumable, and karma. Do you really care that much about AP?

Since it is what is used to unlock reward chests, yes. If it was a trivial number… not so much. But its not, you need it to continue unlocking chest reward tiers.

The dailies and monthly cap together will get a person up to 15,000. I’m currently sitting at ~14,000ish with somewhere around ~7,000 being permanent ones. Close to ~6,600 being dailies, and some other odd amount of monthlies. I don’t have any HoM, barely any PvP or WvW achievements, and I also skipped WvW Season 1. There is no doubt ANet will keep adding achievements, and further achievement rewards. It’s not like the game as it is now will be the only AP in the entire game.

So because I can be rewarded for other things….

I shouldn’t be disappointed I am no longer rewarded for completing daily goals for what I enjoy playing in the first place, and try to understand the reason? The same goals everyone that hasn’t reached the cap will be rewarded for doing.

I don’t understand your point.

So, I was reading the new blog today and noticed they said “There will be a limit of 10,000 daily and 5,000 monthly achievement points”.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/pvp-reward-tracks-and-gear-unification/
Now is this just for PvP achievements or all achievements?

If its for all…

Seriously… 10,000? for daily?

One of the biggest things that kept me playing this game regularly was being rewarded for playing daily with my guild….

Now currently just having just over 5,000 points from daily you are going to take away my reward to continue playing after about another year?

Why exactly? Because certain groups of players didn’t want others to earn rewards indefinitely to satisfy their own mentalities?

I don’t even consider myself a huge APer, I haven’t even broke 20k points. I’m sure many people have over that 10k limits? do they lose AP?

I suspect people like myself are simply going to stop playing because they game for some reason abruptly stops rewarding people for continuing to play on a regular basis…. What possible reason could there be for that?

I planned to play Guild Wars 2 for years and years like I did 1… but once i reach this cap I feel like the game doesn’t want to reward me for continuing to play regularly, so I won’t. I am sure I won’t be the only one that feels this way.

Why would it get “much higher”?

We got an increase in supply and a decrease in demand… economics say that the price will be lower than what it was.

Because the production will be really low and the supply won’t hold the demand for long.
At start the price will drop a lot, maintain for a while and then start to rise again.

A time ago there was a bug in the game where the dye drop was higher than it should be, in a few days w/o no one knowing that bug the price dropped like a rock, then it was fixed and the drop went down to normal making the price rise back in a couple days, imagine when the drop just stop to exist.

Also, rare dyes will get its prices insanely high.

Ah I see, i did not read that they will not be loot-able you are right, production will take a hit and they will see a increase in price over the long term. Of course depending on how they handle the “Mystic Forge and select in-game rewards” means of distributing them.

Even if they are not account bound….

I still don’t understand why everyone is making a mad dash to buy dyes…. do people not realize everyone and their mom will be doing the exact same thing they are… trying to create un-id dyes then sell them… Price is going to drop like a rock patch day when everyone goes to cash in on dyes.

And the smart ones will sell them after a few months when the prices get much higher than it was yesterday.

Why would it get “much higher”?

We got an increase in supply and a decrease in demand April 15th… economics say that the price will be lower than what it was.

SETTING UP NOW IN YAKS BEND Open guesting welcome we will be continuing our preparation and coordinating in map chat.

Xunali Heroic Service Agents [XHSA] is hosting two 3 headed worm attempts. The first attempt will take place at Saturday March 22nd 8PM Server Time (PDT) again at 10PM please show up early for the event. The location will be disclosed in guild chat to prevent people coat tailing without coordinating with us first, it could be a main or overflow server so please have a guest server pass ready. There will be no partial success attempts for this boss, it is all or nothing on this run. All 3 heads must die.

Individuals wanting to join, please send a mail to Mireles Lore.5942 on Saturday the day of the event requesting a guild guest invite. This is our way to try to ensure people have at-least read this briefing and/or are aware of our strategy, and give priority status to those who are actively coordinating with us when picking/moving servers.

This fight will be difficult. We welcome other guilds to come coordinate with us as our primary objective is to get people credit for this kill. Just contact me and we will work something out. Please be sure you have no more than 5 guilds/ guild invites.

Knowing what to do for this battle before hand is essential to the success of this run.

Please review Dulfy’s guide and inform yourself on what to expect. Commanders will be using the strategies illustrated in this guide, you are expected to know how to follow with minimal instruction.

http://dulfy.net/2014/01/23/gw2-great-jungle-worm-boss-guide/

(Thx to “AyinMaiden”)

Also, basic group edict, if you are killed please use the nearest way-point and run back. Dead bodies still scale the boss. Be sure to be attentive to your wurm commander’s position and map / say chats.

You will need to bring:

[Fire Elemental Powder] – Your Commands will give you the signal to use these when the time is right. Please wait for the signal for your appropriate color. Information on where to get these can be found below.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fire_Elemental_Powder

[Ogre Pet Whistle] – These will be needed as well. Once again please wait for the signal. Information on where to get these can be found below.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ogre_pet_whistle

[Nourishment] & [Utility] – Food will be provided to the guild in the form of a tray. If you are a Husk Killer team member it is recommend to bring your own for your conditions. If you have preference over ours you may bring your own as well.

We are also seeking volunteers for specific team roles that are essential to the success of the run. We will need.

Egg-Blocking Team Members: These are players with projectile reflect/blocking skills that can spam the wurm preventing eggs from spawning. You will need to do this throughout the fight.

Husk Killer Team Members: Husks are high toughness low health units that will spawn numerously if not controlled. These players will need to have condition based damage builds, necromancers and engineers preferred.

Amber Stack Defense Team Members: These players will cast swirling winds to protect the zerg stack waiting to enter Amber’s stomach so people do not lose the required buff.

If you are interested in providing for one of these roles please send me a in-game mail with the role you want to play in the subject line and a general description of what skills/build you intend to use to fill that role. We will appreciate your service for this public run.

This is a very difficult boss, but together with preparation and coordination we can succeed. I look forward to having everyone on this run.

Thank you for your interest,
-Mireles

Are people seriously insinuating that winning 1st place in a PvP tournament takes less effort than farming/saving for a legendary?

Anyone can farm/save for a legendary, not everyone will be able to win a pvp tournament. Its about time they started adding real rewards in sPvP. Just because it isn’t your preference and rewards something you would want doesn’t make it bad, just makes you jelly.

Just because people don’t enjoy a certain mode doesn’t mean people that do shouldn’t have desirable rewards. It doesn’t affect you at all and nothing is stopping people from competing except their own mentalities.

If its so effortless and easier than other methods, why not jump on it?

A a legendary is far from representing all aspects of a game…. considering if you have enough laurels and earned enough achievement points, the only thing u have to do in WvW is walk around in it. Should is represent all aspects? absolutely, but that will have to cover sPvP as well which it currently does not, which its why it makes since to reward the best sPvP team with one. Its a totally optional reward which in no way dictates your characters performance or ability.

Why do you assume I’m a PvEr? I’m a WvW and PvP person predominantly. I HATED doing world exploration in PvE and it took me a few months. But I still had to do it for my legendary. Why do you think just beacuse you have mastered sPvP you deserve not to have to do the grunt work of a legendary?

Assumptions, assumptions everywhere.

Never even mentioned you and I by far haven’t mastered sPvP. I already have done the “grunt work” for my legendary, and you don’t see me complaining that my work is devalued because could be added to sPvP. Its just offensive to see people want to take rewards away from other players just because the means of earning it does not fit their play preferences. sPvPers earning legendaries in this way does not affect your experience what so ever, the insinuation that is does is rather selfish.

[XHSA] Looking for fellow Yak's Benders

in Looking for...

Xunlai Heroic Services Agents [XHSA] is an Yak’s Bend exclusive guild currently looking for PvE & WvW players with a focus on community and playing together. Some quick facts about us can be found below.

Server: Yak’s Bend
Roster Count: 200-300 members
Peak Hours: 7PM – 11PM CDT
Minimum joining requirements: Yak’s Bend Home server is a must for new members as it is needed for WvW participation and the collection of influence. You will also be expected to have Teamspeak 3 to at-least be able to listen if you wish to participate WvW and high level/difficulty fractals and dungeons. Having a microphone is not required.

To request an invite please send me an in-game mail on Mireles Lore.5942 expressing your level of interest and confirming that you are a Yak’s Bend native.

What We Have To Offer:

We offer a helpful community that focuses on building relationships with newcomers and veterans alike by helping them become more effective at accomplishing their goals, as well as fostering a casual zero discrimination gaming environment. We do not exclude members from dungeons, fractals, or WvW runs based on experience, rank, stats, class, build, or anything else.

Most of these will be open to the public as this is a guild that likes to give back to the public community.

We group for WvW on a daily basis for the daily and usually long after. Our current teams are regularly roaming ones 5-10 in size and we play mostly borderland maps. I would not mind increasing these sizes, anyone is always welcome to join us.

We do have global guild buffs for as long as you are representing in Yak’s Bend. We offer increased gold, magic, and gathering rates 24 hours a day 7 days a week. In edition to these during Saturday decreased way-points and repair costs well be active all day. Also, Increased chance of crafting critical will be maintained Saturday and Sunday.

Quality over Quantity Membership:

Here at XHSA we take pride in keeping our roster active and clean. This is not an alt “join it and forget it until Saturday” guild. New members (Initiates) are expected to represent regularly during the time they spend online. Initiates are checked every month for activity and are removed every month if they have not logged on and represented within the last monthly check, or are seen online and excessively not representing for the vast majority of time they spend online. We do offer guests invites to nearly all of our events and welcome repeat guests, so please keep this in mind when considering our guild. We also offer longer inactive tolerance and increased privileges for members that have pledged and maintained 100% representation. Over half of our active members are 100% representation members a ratio we try to maintain.

If you have any questions best way to reach me is in-game on Mireles Lore.5942

Thank you for your interest and time, we look forward to serving those that wish to join us.
