Broken armor doesn’t need to be replaced. It can just be fixed. And as of late, fixing both broken and damaged armor is free.

You know, it’s been 9 months and I still don’t know why they took the animations out in the first place. The thread that’s linked earlier in the post gives me a 404.

The other thing I’ve noticed is that my female asurans don’t yawn and stretch anymore either. I only noticed this because I remember one of my character’s shoulders clipping into her head when she was doing it.

Or you could just make sure the group is co-ordinated enough to do it all together from the start.

Setting ground rules like “don’t swap characters” and explaining why would be a good start.

English is the current Lingua Franca so no doubts there. I’m betting the other language support exists because it makes sense in the markets where GW1 was most successful or where they want GW2 to be successful. Has little to do with the most commonly spoken languages, otherwise we would see Spanish, Hindi and Arabic … but we don’t.

I think it’s definitely a matter of which languages are the most widely spoken in places where GW2 is sold.

How does this explain why we don’t see Spanish and yet have French? I think that Anet are a little more selective with their language choices based on regional success of GW1/2 because they actually have the market data to suggest what languages they should support, not based on how many people speak those languages where GW2 is available.

I think it also has to do with the idea that Anet already had made investments into specific languages in GW1. It’s simply a matter of using those assets in GW2 as well. I would find it really hard to see how Anet simply implements the most popular languages in places where GW2 is sold, It might be available, but we have little idea if that makes it popular in those places to justify the cost of implementing in that languages

ANet hasn’t said anything definitive about whether post-L80 experience will have any value. There’s certainly no particular use for it today and that’s all that any of us can say.

Accordingly, the current reasons to complete a map are:

• To get the title and gold star.
• To get the mats and a chance for a BL key.
• To get Gifts of Exploration, for a Legendary.
• For the fun of running around.
• So you can say you have.

If none of those apply, then, no, there’s no point in completing maps.

Don’t forget the ability to go to whatever guild mission straight away with no waiting.

Had a guy in a previous guild who didn’t do completion and was always complaining because he had to run everywhere. We even had people volunteer to help him get it but he still didn’t bother, and kept complaining. Ended up kicking him.

On a related topic of doing completion pre-HoT, wasn’t there stated somewhere that one would be given better rewards in the future for completing areas? Or was that something different? I can’t seem to find the blog post or video with that in it just now.

English, Spanish and French covers North America. Add German to the list and you’ve got most of Europe basically covered because it seems like everyone who isn’t a native speaker learns at least one of those languages in school. (Admittedly not necessarily enough to actually use it, unless you want to talk about the contents of your pencil case, and no that’s not a euphemism, but enough that it’s a start and they can learn more if they want to.)

Pretty much this. Plus a lot of languages in Europe are very closely related so if it isn’t the exact language they speak, they’d be able to pick parts of it out, or enough to actually play and understand the basics of the game.

Related but kinda off-topic: after learning German for 4 years at school and casually learning it for another 5, I still get excited when I can understand what is being said in-game without having to translate or watch subtitles/speech bubbles, and I’m a native English speaker.

They’re trying to cut down on stickies so I doubt this would be happening. It’s not hard to find the Gemstore Items thread in any case. It’s usually in the first few pages on the forum.

Just mapped Metrica Province with the new changes. If I didn’t know where the Hero Points were I would seriously be mad at whoever thought of this new colour. They are so incredibly easy to miss it’s not funny.

If there’s an addon like that….hell, I’d take the risk for it.

After they brought out that Mad King’s wand or whatever it is people got turned off because it was pay to win (costume brawls at least). That perma fear definitely turned me off it.

That being said I’d still be against costume brawl dailies even if that item wasn’t available.

I’m also in agreement with the player sorting of characters. I have 44 slots at the moment and It’d definitely be a nice QoL feature.

As it is I usually log in once a day on every character to do some farming. I group them by profession, but manually being able to sort them would be very nice.

What you’re asking for is not a currency. You’re asking for us to suggest to you an investment. Honestly I doubt the TP big-wigs (I KNOW YOU’RE OUT THERE KITTENIT) would freely give their secrets, but you can always invest and see how it goes.

The reason why I posted the link is because you didn’t go into detail. To me it was yet another post of “fix it” without giving any details and, frankly, not being of any help.

These are the things that deter me from UW combat:

- There is no incentive to use skills other than 111111111
- There is absolutely no variety in builds
- It feels like I’m playing a watered-down (pun intended) version of my profession
- A whole bunch of utility skills don’t have UW versions
- A whole bunch of elite skills don’t have UW versions
- If I have a melee wep and the mob I’m attacking is melee it’s the see-how-many-times-you-can-swim-past-each-other-before-one-of-us-dies game (this is the reason why I will choose ranged UW weps over melee-no matter what class)
- You can craft armor. You can craft UW weapons. You can’t craft UW breathers. Where’s the logic there?
- On land I know the approximate aggro range I have. UW it’s just aggro-everything-and-good-luck-to-you

And my absolute biggest gripe of all
- Mobs can swim THROUGH THE WALLS. Want to advance in Forewarned is Forearmed? Well guess what? You’ll be in combat all the way because a mob is now obstructed! And guess what else? Forgal has magically joined them!

I’d be happy if it was scrapped like someone has suggested. Remove UW mobs and still let us explore.

That being said I’d also be open to trying it if it was given a complete do-over, but as it is now I only touch it for world completion.

It’s not fun. It’s a chore.

Forgot to add this
- If you’re swimming along the top of the water in Orr and a mob spots you, you can get perma immobilized on top of the water. This means NO skills, NO heals and absolutely NO chance of getting out alive. The LEAST that could happen is that they make it so you get your skills back and go UW when the mob immobilizes you!

Create a name – a truly unique name – and use that everywhere. I can pretty much join any game that’s been out for years with no worries of having any of my names taken, and if they are, then I have alternatives that I can use.

Here’s how I got my main:

>Creates Necromancer in gw1
>"Lana" has been stuck in my head
>Necros are pretty dark
>Tries “Lana Darkness”
>Was taken
>Thinks about how if some profession is female, it just adds “ess” to it
>Takes the “n” out of Darkness
>Has a name that I now use across 4 MMOs with no worries of anyone stealing

I’m glad it’s soloable. It was horrible to begin with, but now at least you can get through it faster without having to wait for a full party.

To me VoD is just that-last-mission-that-I-have-to-endure-to-finally-get-PS-out-of-the-way-and-get-a-pact-skin.

Then it glitches out at the giants. Such fun. Had to redo it 4 times on my human thief because of that glitch. Best part? Absolutely no loot and no rewards for even making it to the glitch. Absolute waste of time.

In ascended you’ll just have to find a hybrid. I used Ralena and Vassar’s bands for a while. Those stats are probably the closest you’ll get.

Considering in those “proper MMOs” you are bound to one server and one server only, I’d say that it’d get a bit confusing if we were allowed to have the same name on different servers considering that we are now all lumped into the megaserver.

Many people in real life have the same name. I think people can handle having the same in a game. There is no need for any sort of per server restriction either.

Sure people in real life can handle that, but this isn’t real life. This would have to do with the identification of the particular Fluffy Bunny that I want to add to my friend’s list.

Here’s the deal. You program a way for multiple people to have the same name on the same server without the game going haywire and not knowing what to do, then send it in to Anet. Otherwise I doubt that A) it’s gonna happen, and B ) they’ll have the resources to do said programming.

If you’re tearing through normal kits the way I tear through content your best bet is to go copper-fed. “eww gemstore” I know, I know. It’s more economical than the basic kit “By 0.52 copper woopee” I hear you saying. It’s also permanent. As in this thing will never ever run out of uses. You’d use up the $10 worth of gems and then some if you salvage gear the way I do.

For the rares/exos the best thing to use is the Mystic salvage kit. It’s the most economical by far, but if you can’t get your hands on the mystic stones, all you’re left with is the Master’s, which isn’t very nice at 6X the price of the normal Mystic salvage kit per use.

Different strokes for different folks. I don’t particularly like WvW. Others would be the opposite. Asking a question like you have is incredibly closed-minded and ignorant. It’s called diversity.

For me it all mainly boils down to playing dressup. At the moment I have 40 perma characters (the others are nameholders or keyfarmers), and though I don’t roleplay it’s got a lot to do with their personalities as to what armor I put them in.

I also enjoy leveling them with different playstyles and builds. Plus I enjoy doing world completion (though that Ash Legion heart never fails to kitten me off), which is handy considering I have planned out to make every legendary and Mystic Forge weapon – including the ones that will come out with HoT.

Stop right there. That’s your problem right off the bat.

This is an MMO – a massive multiplayer online game (millions of copies have sold worldwide). There will be people who have taken the name from your favourite book/movie/tv show series, and yes there will also be people who have rip-offs of the name too. Misspellings, accents, you name it.

Solution – be creative and original with your names instead of using something that about a thousand other people will have thought of as well. This game has been out for almost 3 years. Of course that character’s name will be taken.

Yup, precisely that. It was 75% off one weekend, so I bought a second account for $10 rather than a single character slot for $10.

Crazy, but I now see the logic, 5 new char slots vs 1 lol. But yet you miss out on all those account bound bonuses. Oh well I guess there has to be some kind of a trade off for that bargain price…….

There is. It’s called double laurels.

It’s not exactly double since we can’t trade them. Sure you could buy some certain things and mail them to your other account but it’s not exactly double laurels in the sense you can buy say an ascended amulet or ring in half the time.

If I have this incorrect forgive me I’m too tired now to think lol. But yes I could see how nice this would be for all those extra dyes and such one could get.

It is exactly double laurels. Having twice the amount of something that you would normally only get half for is usually considered double. It doesn’t matter what you spend them on, the fact that you get twice the amount means it is exactly double.

Just having them available is getting double, even if you don’t spend them at all.

For me, I spend my second account’s laurels on t6 mats. I’m hoarding my first account’s laurels until I determine exactly what I want to do with them.

I totally agree with you, but the problem is that the majority of the player base just doesn’t seem to give a rat’s kitten about anyone bar themselves. If it doesn’t affect them they won’t speak up for or against it.

Like here I got “deal with it” repetitively. But the thing is that we shouldn’t have to!

The concept is that "Dealing " with it takes maybe a week, or a reset. It’s not a huge loss or a difficult struggle. It’s….Playing the game . _ .;

I completely understand that. I had to get to level 72 with my elementalist before I could unlock the things I wanted on her. By the time I got her there half the things I wanted to do with the build had already been done without it.
