I don’t think it would fit lore-wise to be honest. That being said, if they were somehow invented I’m sure my asurans would love to test them out.

If a skin like this was implemented I’d like to be able to wear the glasses and headphones at the same time.

It’s 100g, roughly the same cost as a new bl ticket weapon skin on the tp.

100G takes me months to get, try again…..

It is incredibly easy to make money in gw2. Sneeze and you’ll profit. Just actually playing the game is literally all it takes.

if i am lucky enough to get something expensive enough i get about 2 gold a day at most, tell me how that’s incredibly easy.

You have MANY options mate. All of which are easy because literally all you have to do is play the content of the game to gather money.

A ) farm the areas notorious for good loot
B ) leave your alts in a location of use (ie rich ore veins, jumping puzzle chest, etc. You choose)
C ) run dungeons daily (every path in every dungeon gives at least one gold, plus loot and tokens)
D ) play sPvP (even if you lose you get 15s, plus your reward track advances which can give you sp scrolls, level up scrolls, exo gear, dungeon tokens to get exo gear, and even ascended gear)
E ) Map the world and gather literally everything you see. It’s money just laying around.
F ) Turn your laurels into t6 mats and sell them.

These are only a few of many, many options, so from your response I gather that all you’re doing is maybe 1-2 dungeons and then standing around in some city hoping someone will give you free stuff. If you’re gonna do that, don’t you dare mope that you’re poor. You have every opportunity to go and make gold. It’s easier in this game than in any other game I have ever played.

"Excessive messaging" message is excessive

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

On a more serious note, how many achievement points does your second account have and how old is it. There are certain limitations tied to new accounts especially as far as messaging is concerned. Some of those you can read up on here: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Account

Notice how you are also very limited on the amount of gold you are allowed to mail on new accounts.

Like I’ve said above, the account age isn’t the problem. It’s the excessive messaging detecting system or whatever they use. This is my second account. I know what the go is with the restrictions brought in with the NPE and patches regarding it thereafter.

And no, I know I haven’t been hacked. I’ve got google authenticator tied to both my main and secondary accounts. That and I would have been able to see my second account actually log on since it’s both on my friend list and in my guilds.

An when devs do get involved in the forums to get assistance as to how to improve aspects of the game people keep it respectful despite their views on changes that may or may not happen.
And can’t we all agree that we love it when a dev pops up in some random sub-forum just because =D

The reason why we keep it respectful is to not scare them off. They don’t talk to us much (if at all), so what little interaction I have with them tends to be so.

There’s been a few other threads that I can’t find also regarding this issue.

Short answer – I seriously doubt that we’ll get a special server just for us. People say there’s “not enough people to warrant a server”, but I seriously doubt it.

Personally I’m used to ~300 ping. I get it on pretty much every MMO. If you’re not used to it now you’ll get there.

Dragon Hunter is a amazing name

Like I’ve said in a previous post – it’s Dragonhunter not “Dragon Hunter”. It’s two words mashed into one which just does NOT work in English.

Im not a native speaker its cool In German I like the Word Jeager (Hunter) DrachenJeager

That’s the thing. It works in languages that are used to mashing words together – as German does. It’s clunky, and looks and sounds very unpleasant in English. It doesn’t flow.

I like this idea. I liked it in gw1 and I’d like it implemented here. I’d love to use my eyepatch with the pirate outfit, etc, etc, etc.

Sadly the silence on these matters seems to me like they’re either A) not listening, B ) not interested in making changes or C) listening but refuse to talk for fear of being beaten to death with a bat if they go back on something they said (which is annoying for both them and us).

Personal Story Restoration update

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Miss Lana.5276

Miss Lana.5276

Here’s my main concern so far. One of my characters has experienced the flawed version of the PS and since you can’t rewind the progress back, I’d have to reroll another character. While I could just grind for gear, I practically invested a heavy amount of gold on my previous character and it just wouldn’t be fair on my part to have to grind again just to get gold again to re-gear my character. Is it possible to request for duplicates of my character’s existing armor so that when my rerolled copy hits level 80, I can just set him up after? Same goes with the fact that I used a styling kit on him.

I’d contact Customer Service if you have questions or concerns that aren’t covered in the original post or F.A.Q.

I contacted them and so far, they have not given me any options other than “we cannot help you.” I may be asking too much from them, I suppose but it’s not my fault I did not know at the time that there were missing parts of the Personal Story. And I don’t have the mats nor the gold needed to make ascended armor to just transfer over to my character.

Ascended gear is always account bound. If you equip it it’s still account bound. If you put it in your bank it’s still account bound. If you wear it on a second, third, fourth toon it’s still account bound. This goes for armor, weapons and trinkets/necklaces/earrings/backpieces etc.

The only problem you’d have is making your character look the same as your first one.

You REALLY had to make another thread about this?

TIL: People will complain about anything.

A lot of other threads were about the Elite Specialization itself, while mine is just about the name. I really have no problem with the skills and other facets of the Spec.

Also, I don’t know if you realize, but a game where “style” and the shade of pink you use for your shoes to look good is important, a spec name does actually matter. I mean, would you play your class if it was named Vomitmancer? I really doubt it. It would still be better then Dragon Hunter.

My issues with the name are these

- It’s named after something that literally every single class does already in-game. Mesmer elite is Chronomancer. That’s cool. No other class can control time at all, then out comes anet to say that guardians are named after something that everyone does. That’s not a specialisation. That’s not unique. If I was a guardian main I’d feel unimportant because of the lack of thought and uniqueness that’s gone into this “name”

- It’s two words mashed together. It’s not “Dragon Hunter”. It’s “Dragonhunter”. This sort of thing just does not work in English. You get it in other languages (the first thought is German where words are mashed together to make one all the time), but in English it sounds clunky and just plain wrong.

I’m not completely, totally and utterly outraged by it, but I am very disappointed.

"DragonHunter" name feedback [merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Miss Lana.5276

Miss Lana.5276

Dragonhunter makes no sense as a specialization name and Chronomancer does. The Mesmer elite specialization name does make sense. Why? Because you specialize as a Chronomancer to manipulate time. Do you specialize as a Dragonhunter to hunt dragons? No. You will hunt and fight all types foes, not just “big game.”

Also, there is nothing innately Guardian about being a Dragonhunter. Why couldn’t a Warrior or Ranger hunt dragons? There’s not really any reason Dragonhunter fits the Guardian anymore than it could fit those professions. Why wouldn’t an armored master of combat or master of the nature want to hunt big game? They are arguably even more suited to the name than Guardians.

Personally I would prefer Sentinel as it fits the theme of defending from a range with longbow and setting traps.

Edit: Also, lol at the OPs argument. “These names are used elsewhere at some place and some time: therefore they are bad.” What?

Agreed. My Necro hunts dragons. Isn’t she a Dragonhunter already?

The two words mashed into one name doesn’t work – at all.

On Anet and the Community

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Miss Lana.5276

“…but it’s very difficult to be hyped up on something that isn’t being talked about.”

100% true.

“At the same time, the policy actively excludes people who want to know where things stand, warts and all. The silence gets perceived as nothing happening, or community feedback being ignored.”

This is exactly what I know a lot of us want. I won’t chuck a fit because something has been pushed back for circumstances unseen, and the mature sector of the community won’t either. Sure, disappointment would be in the mix, but I’d be happy to wait. Seeing a bar saying “loading” with a percentage or fraction up is better than not even seeing “loading” in the first place, and wondering if one’s computer is on the fritz.

“And the communication policy makes ArenaNet employees functionally powerless to disagree in concrete ways.”

They’re limiting both themselves and disappointing us by not communicating – all in the one policy! We want to listen as much as they want to talk. I don’t even care if it’s a concrete “no”. A definite answer is better than nothing. Hell, anything is better than “it’s not off the table” or “when it’s ready”.

“One quote that I’ve seen twisted a lot recently is this statement by Mike O’Brien after the Heart of Thorns announcement:

“Now, I think the exciting thing, though, is that things are going to happen fast.” – Quoted from MMORPG.com interview, dated January 26, 2015

And they were…up until the first closed beta stress test happened almost a month ago. Since then there’s been recaps and rehashes of features, a Stronghold beta test, and a few pieces on the new hylek tribes. A far cry from the expected “happening fast” pace."

Back to the first statement. We can’t be hyped up on something that’s not being talked about. I don’t care about the hylek tribes anymore. I don’t care about the stronghold anymore. I don’t want a corpse dressed up in the new fashions. I want a decent amount of new information to sink my teeth into. Something BIG that I can pore over for hours. In hindsight even the HoT announcement was more hype than it was information.

“With feature creation and iteration so far separated from actual feedback on the feature, it is far too easy to develop for something the player base doesn’t really want. But the communication policy forbids getting out in front and asking players what they want specifically once a feature gains shape.”

Hell if they haven’t learned this from the NPE they’ll never learn it.

“People keep on talking, hoping that something will be done about things they hate. And hope is all they have, because all that is ever said is “we’re listening.” "

My fridge listens to me too. I’m just hoping that Anet can be better than a fridge.

“The table everything is on is meaningless. Rather than string players along with a hope that their expected thing is next and dooming most of them to disappointment, state what is priority and what isn’t.”

PLEASE!

“When the plan changes, say so and why. This was done when announcing the delay on the camera changes patch, and the community reaction was much more reasonable than the typical hue and cry about ArenaNet screwing everything up.”

We (the mature community) are more reasonable than they think we are. The loudest ones seem to be the ones who can never be placated.

~~~
“The existing communications policy doesn’t work. It hurts everyone involved while failing at its core purpose: communicating clearly what ArenaNet is going to deliver. It needs to be abandoned as it is (and has had) a growing negative effect on the reputation of the company, as well as the trust the community has in ArenaNet’s ability to deliver what they want.”
That’s it. That is the absolute core of it.
~~~

I agree with every single point this has made. Thank you Havoc for posting it. I only hope that a dev actually reads it and – hopefully – changes will be made.

"Excessive messaging" message is excessive

So I log into my second account for the first time after reset today and get my daily reward, which happens to be a bunch of mystic coins. I open my mail and go to send them to my main account. I hit send and I get the “excessive messaging” message.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I know my second account can send stuff to my main because it’s been able to before, so that rules out account age (just before anyone mentions it), but this was going to be the first message I have sent to anyone from this account today.

I would like to see an overhaul to this ridiculous system. I have no idea how it’d be done or set out, but this is absolutely ludicrous.

Note; I am able to get items over to my main account via the guild bank, so that’s not an issue. The problem here is that I’ve been told that I’ve done “excessive messaging” when it’s the first message to anyone on this day.

LF fractal-focused guild

in Looking for...

Miss Lana.5276

I’m looking for a fractal-focused guild that is happy to be repped as a side guild whenever I’m doing fractals.

I have a sound understanding of most of the fractals, and my personal level is at about ~23 last I checked, though I’m happy to run whatever level my AR will allow. I have 25 AR atm, and I main a necro, though I am willing to switch to whatever profession is needed/preferred (I have one of each profession to 80 – most have exo gear, but not all). I’m willing to download whatever voip is necessary, though I prefer to use teamspeak. I’m always willing to learn a better/faster way to run, and I pay attention to guild/party chat whenever I’m on a voip (one issue I’ve seen a lot recently).

I’m Aussie, 18+ and a chick, but I can handle pretty much anything thrown at me. I have a low tolerance of immaturity and passive-aggressiveness, so I’d prefer a mature atmosphere to the people I’m running with.

Feel free to pm me in-game (Missy Lana) or post a reply here. Thanks for your time!

my GL has ..4 necros last I heard. There was one for WvW, one for PvE, one for sPvP and I can’t remember what the last one was for.

I myself have so many alts (check the signature) because I love dressing up characters. Every character has a different personality (in my mind, I don’t tend to RP much), and I like reflecting that in the gear they wear.

That and I can do multiple runs of the same rich ore nodes/lemongrass area within a day. 10 ore x 40 characters = 400 ore per day from a rich node.

I used to have them all parked at the end chest for Not So Secret for the Blade Shards, but now all I need are fractal relics to complete all three – that’s right all three – coloured versions. Took me about 2 months.

They really don’t appeal to everyone, hence the massive fights. You can’t solve it with one incorrect blanket statement. Those who want to mix and match pieces of the outfit itself cannot, such as I have stated that I would be interested in doing above.

Character with WC done and no skill points

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Miss Lana.5276

If you did world completion then that alt will get the max number of hero points as it’s 400 points for being level 80 then however many skill challenges your char did. Since you already did them all, you will have them done.

Using scrolls at this point will put then in your hero panel and those will be converted into the new Mystic Forge currency.

I have 9 world completions and they still have their spare skill points. So if they’re converted to hero points, can they only be used in the forge? Because it seems like they might be useless to me if that is the case.

Although if it is the case, I guess it’s no great loss as they’re useless as spares anyway.

Might be good if you could use them for something else as well as.

Skill points will not be converted to hero points.

Exactly this.

To clarify, hero points are the points that you will get to unlock skills for the character that the skills are bound to.

Skill points will be converted into a mystic forge currency/material. We do not know the name of this currency/material yet. This will also be account-wide.

Underwater combat

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Miss Lana.5276

Miss Lana.5276

I remember at release this was one thing I was excited for, but since experiencing it I’ve become numb to it. It’s dull, glitchy and annoying. The worst part is when you’re attacking something in a tight space.

Let’s take the personal story instance of “Forewarned is Forearmed”. There’s been so many times that I’ve been stuck in combat purely because something has magically clipped through the wall of solid bricks and it’s invulnerable to every attack I throw at it. And then as if that isn’t enough, Forgal actually decides to slip behind this magical wall of solid brick as well! Boy, I wish I could do that!

If they actually fixed these issues I might actually start to enjoy it, but as it is it’s tedious, torturous and just plain awful.

The other thing I almost forgot to mention was that when swimming in Orr, if you’re immobilised while swimming along the top of the water – you’re screwed. You literally get stuck there with no skills whatsoever, until you become downed, but by that point you may as well start to pick the waypoint to revive at. The only reason I mention Orr specifically was that this happened to me the other day, and am unaware of any enemies in any other areas that can immobilise you while underwater.

u dont read. is a hardest DUNGEON (not included Fotm)
or do you think other dungeon will be harder then arah?

i got over 10k token. i finish P3 in 15min with one of my friend. if you can bit my record then you can say easy.

Arah is hard… ha ha ha. Best joke in ages.

Talk about derailing a thread. This is not a thread about flashing your kitten. This is a thread about outfits. Please try to stay on topic.

Back to the actual topic you brought up, arah tokens can be very very easily made through PvP. So can ascended gear skins.

Also, on the topic of ascended and dungeon gear, what you fail to realise is that not everyone likes the same skins.

they won’t, at the end of day. only business.
as consider whole outfit wear if you don’t like you will spend another 700 gem to buy a new one.
but armor if you dont like the whole set, your will still have chance to mix and match to look good. in this case the chance to buy new set will getting less number.

so y not outfit

If one doesn’t like an outfit – which you can preview in either the hero panel or the gem store – then that person is most likely not going to buy it, let alone buy another one to replace the one that they didn’t like – so they didn’t buy – in the first place.

I’m not entirely sure what the point is that you’re trying to make here.

Obviously people are voting with their wallets and not talking on the forums. if they didnt sell as much as or more than armors ANET wouldnt continue to make them.

Now the idea would be nice if they where unlocked as armor pieces, but they would have to armor pieces only for that weight. IE Balthazar would be a heavy set, The Crystal Nomads would be a medium, the Shadow Assassin Medium, Etc etc.

Why not do a similar thing to outfits that they did to the headpiece skins in the store? Buy once, unlock for all weights. Warriors are able to wear “light” outfit skins, etc, so why not go that extra step and make everything wearable by everyone (bar racial armor of course)? I’m only half joking here. This would be fantastic for those of us who like to mix and match.

I don’t know anything regarding coding, so idk how difficult it would be, so please forgive me if I’ve suggested something that would be ridiculously hard to implement.

Australia market too small. i just Hope HoT will have hard copy sale on JBHIFI and EB games.

Many people think this, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s correct. As far as I’ve seen there is no way to see what percentage of players is from where. I run into more Australians and NZ players than I do Europeans, yet EU are included in a lot of competitions (and no, I’m not talking about before the megaservers were introduced, so this is players across all servers that I run into. I’m aware SoS is the ‘unofficial Australian server’).

If gw2 itself was in EB games (and it was), then I see no reason why HoT wouldn’t be released there either.

I honestly really feel like they’re not listening to us. There’s a major amount of people who dislike the outfits, yet all we’re getting is more of them, and no response on threads such as this.

I would like to see outfits implemented as armor pieces as well as outfits. I like being able to make a lowbie character look semi-decent in a full outfit without using a single transmutation charge, but I want to be able to use that Anise top with other skirts, as well as using it’s skirt with, say, the human t3 top. It’s killing me thinking about it without even being able to preview it!

Vista Viewing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Miss Lana.5276

Miss Lana.5276

What frustrates me is the fact that some vistas are super easy to do while others are stupidly designed to be almost impossible to get too. If you want us to be able to do them then my suggestion is to make them easier to access.

Don’t see the point, if you make them all easier than they are already, then you might as well remove them from the game. Reason some are very easy and some not so is that it adds variety.

I have 9 world completions and I can tell you there are no difficult vistas to get to.

If you find them difficult then you’re not used to jumping puzzles, with practice you get better and it becomes easier.

The thing I’ve found is that people who “keyboard turn” instead of using their right mouse button to move the camera and thus, the character, have more of an issue with jumping puzzles than those that use the mouse.

Playing a game like Tera or Eso – which both have the mouse locked to the camera unless you’re using the UI – gets one into the habit of using the mouse more. I loathe keyboard turning now, and I’ve actually rebound my Q and E buttons because I have no use for the strafe when I automatically do that with the right mouse button.

i hope they are gonna make trait unlocks acount bound (and i heard they are), if so i hope this means all my grandfathered character will unlock all the traits.
i am surely never gonna unlock them with this BS system, it would mean the end of this game if they even force me to unlock them on my existing characters.

I don’t see how having account bound traits would be helpful…unless you have multiples of one profession.

i have……

Why not…..

Account Bound Item Belt

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Miss Lana.5276

Miss Lana.5276

~Price~
-The cost to gain access to belt would be a one time fee of gems (maybe 400) per character this will allow everyone to support the game even with no plan to buy another of the same item.

Nope. I’d prefer a straight up fee around 800 gems for the entire account. Extra bank slots are something like 800 each, why not make it the same? That’d also punish those (like me) who have actually bought extra character slots. Paying an extra 400 gems per character where we’ve already paid 800 to get the character seems really unfair.

Apart from that I like this idea.

I agree. I’m disappointed when there’s something announced – like that testing thread that Gaile put up a little while back – and then it’s “Oh btw it’s only locals so you’re screwed if you’re in another country suckas”

I wanted to enter a competition pre-gw2, but because I wasn’t EU or NA I was unable to. It’s become very tiresome and I don’t even bother to hope for something coming to us anymore. The only thing I can aim for now is getting into the beta.

How about a racial core specialization?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Miss Lana.5276

Miss Lana.5276

ESO has specific racial bonuses, and tbh it’s just not fair to implement it this far into the game. I like the fact that there are no specific racial bonuses in gw2. This means I can play whatever I think looks the best without having to suffer for it.

I have a Breton caster in ESO who is now a vampire. At the highest level of vampirism (where you don’t feed), you take +75% damage from fire. This can be negated by being a High Elf, who has a racial bonus of resistance to fire. One could possibly feel “punished” for not being the “right” race for specific things.

Tl;dr other games I’ve played have this feature, and it’s not fun or fair.

Yeah definitely. I hate having one dye slot available to mess around with that doesn’t actually do anything. I’d love to be able to change the “lava” colour to something more appropriate for the character that it’s on.

Is it possible to switch orders?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Miss Lana.5276

Miss Lana.5276

No way to switch orders on an existing character after the choice.

But you can make another character and pick another order, buy the gear, and unlock the skins and use the skins on any character.

Any character? Or any character in the same weight of armor?

I bought priory robes for my human female mesmer. My Asura male necro can wear the priory robes but not my human male warrior.

There are three tiers of armor weight for all orders. If you only buy light armor for vigil, then any light character can wear it. If you only buy heavy armor for whispers, then any warrior or guardian can wear it, etc.
