Remember dye color is diffrent on each race.
Really?
I never noticed this-only different armour types
I just realised I’m also a cosmetics junkie.
Once I settle on the perfect look for my characters, I have to have it and will spend any amount and effort to get it.
Since I sometimes have several sets of gear- that is a lot of sets and a lot of trans stones.
I have several characters…
An established MMO is going to have some advantage over a new one after the shine wears off. And if you think that other MMOs will launch with a less “greedy” cash shop, well…off you go then. Will you have the grace to return if you’re wrong?
Defiance.
Skins and veicles on the cash shop with the same stats of the ones you can get in game.
RNG boxes with a chance to get the rarest weapons in game, and you can buy them via real money and in game currencies.
RIFT will be totally free to play in less than 2 weeks, Trion already stated that everything will be obtainable in game, and cash shop will only have mounts and cosmetic items.
There are already “less greedy” cash shop games out there…And a new MMO can become “esablished” in a few months, the same has been for GW2.
I can only think of a few cash shops actually worse than GW2, and those are in P2W games, which I won’t play for obvious reasons.
EQ1, EQ2, Aion, DDO, LotRO, and soon Rift will all have better cash shops than GW2, and those games started out as sub based games. The only game I can think of that remotely compares to the unfair RNG aspects of GW2 that is coming out recently is Neverwinter…and well, most of us already know to avoid PW like the plague. I mean they literally let you buy levels. Ugh.
DDO? That game’s cash shop made me swear off MMo’s entirely and I had a sub lol
GW2 cash shop is perfect- not enough stuff yet but nothing you have to buy unless you really want to- I never once felt milked in gW2 like I did on a daily basis in DDO.
Don’t like RnG? Don’t spend money or gold on it, I don’t and never have.
I will pre-order two or three accounts, my daughter is still a bit young and rarely plays.

Game is balanced around blue gear, not your exotics or better.
Replace your gear with a blue set and you’ll find it a bigger challenge.
That is not true- I did an experiment a bit back with white gear and it was still pretty bad.
The extra power comes from the traits I believe- at least that is the conclusion I came to.
OP yes I would love this.
I have been asking for this for some time along with a couple of others.
Rewards are already pretty good for an 80- we are just too powerful.
I love running random events and just exploring in random maps because I feel like it. The idea of the whole game is endgame seems to support this, level scaling just needs to be tweaked a bit.
I would have liked more underwater weapons and a rework of the underwater mechanics, to go with an all underwater zone.
Now I have an 80 Engineer and since I have bombs and grenades who needs underwater weapons?
Seriously, I couldn’t believe how cool an Engi is underwater.
I do love underwater areas though and allover underwater combat needs a rework both in terms of weapons and traits especially elites. Not everyone is lucky enough to play an Engi.
I would love an underwater zone and an underwater race

Is the Game anti-social? No, just the Player(s). I personally am very anti-social IKNOWWRONGGAME , but that’s just me. When and If I feel like it and if the Map chat needs it’s kitten lite on fire I’ll randomly blurt something out. Then the Convo starts and I go silent.
It doesn’t work much in Orr. Then if no one really replies or talks I start talking to myself in map chat. oh the conversations that can be seen will make you Block me or laugh or just say “Dude wtf are you talking about man?” , “Keep going this is interesting.” or the other usual reply “Dude shut the hell up” (my favorite)Usually I just quote random things from old TV shows I used to watch…..which is why nobody ever knows what I’m talking about. I once recited the entire episode of “Familiar Surroundings” from Rooster teeth’s show Red Vs Blue.
hahaha! I sing song lyrics – usually Pink Floyd
Oh look, another Dontain thread- he must be so happy/
in before lock.
I want a Mad Hatter hat to go with the cupcakes :P and tea, don’t forget the tea.
I’m the “let’s do some personal story, hey what’s that, oh look can I get in here, wow that’s a cool looking character, I fell down a hole! there are shiny’s in here, skritt I’m dead. Where was I going again” type of player
I use Mithril and Blue Ice too- blue ice can be a bit blue on some armour.
OP I love how everyone and his dog are currently quoting Dontain as if he is some authority- he took some info- made his own conclusions that is based on nothing but his own opinion and uses it to promote his own channel.
I can make up my own mind about the game. I don’t think it is perfect and I try and be as constructive as I can when I make suggestions on what i think needs to change.
I love GW2 and I have had and am having so much fun playing it.
Anet has done so much since this game launched to make it into a great game and I appreciate that, I really do.
I am also patient and I am willing to wait for thing to evolve as they will.
People don’t ignore whispers- at least I never found it so- people ignore guild spam from people they don’t know from a bar of soap.
I have a personal Guild mainly to avoid this and bank space naturally
You are very talented and I love the looseness of your drawings !
If you are still up for it could you please draw my Mesmer Diamond Mask?
I include a loading screen pic for additional reference since my screenies are a bit dark
I am always here
glad to see you again – I am patient I can wait
page 3 btw
but just to jog your memory here is a recent one

Another +1 for Gunnar’s Hold
I played in the Beta and was here at release and I promise you this is not a beta.
It is instead an MMO in it’s first year.
I have noticed this too OP.
It seems like just lately the forums are even more a look into the abyss than usual, while ingame it is a whole different story.
People seem to be getting their groove in the game and communities are forming with great humour and in general are very laid back.
New people are helped and encouraged and welcomed.
Vet players are having fun and helping each other.
It is like a different world in game- instead of QQ about something you will see people offering solutions, workarounds or just help.
I almost never see a negative comment ingame.
Op I understand how you feel since my real life is also very demanding. So far I have completed very little of the Living Story content- I did what i could when I had time but achievements and such cannot be a priority for me.
With South sun I got the back piece I wanted quickly because I know that I will probably miss the last part entirely since I am not sure I will be even able to log in in the next 3 weeks.
That said- I do think it is a good thing that they sped up the LS content- if you look at the tremendous amount of QQ on here about how F&F was just too slowly paced, you can see why.
It makes sense that as a living story things change rather rapidly.
I am sure that at this point they are testing the waters and will eventually find a way to engage most players and find the perfect balance between permanent and temp content.
Unfortunately since some of the content will be permanent and some not- if we miss out we miss out.
That does not bother me so much because I know there will always be something cool to do when I do get to play.
I guess it comes down to does it matter that much to you or can you still have fun within that framework
Engi is a lot more versatile than a thief- it does take time to learn how to play but I found my Engi a blast and she is now my goto class if I feel like picking a fight.
She was also really easy to level and because of the great utility she is very survivable.
For love of god don’t read the profession forums :P
Find it baffling that people are so uncoordinated they cant do such an easy jumping puzzle. The only difficult part is learning when and where to jump from and to. Once you do one part wrong once or twice you should be able to get it right every time.
Theres usually mesmers around ready to portal people up, so if you really cant do it or if you’re feeling lazy just use them.
I find it baffling that some people find jump puzzles easy :P
Lazy has nothing to do with it- skills are not universal.
I was so glad that a mesmer was around to port me that I would have kissed him through me screen if I could- I tipped him instead since that was something I could do
- I will never in a hundred years be able to do that puzzle by myself
I think this was the best possible thing they could have done- to give players a choice.
It is very encouraging to me to see how quickly they acted on feedback from the F&F dungeon- which was not soloable.
What is your problem with choice OP?
Everyone has to play the game the way you like to?
I like to do solo dungeons- not because it is “easier” but because I can’t commit to a chunk of time with a bunch of strangers, due to RL obligations.
If I could 2 man Arah with my husband I would have finished my personal story ages ago.
Here is hoping we get an option to scale the other dungeons in the game in the future.
Great job Anet
They’re extremely poor at telling any kind of story worth listening to so let it to devs such as rockstar/naughty dog. Simple missions that you’re doing with groups AND NOT SOLO would be enough
Since you have said numerous times on these forums that you skipped through all the dialog how would you know?
I also support scalable dungeons since some people prefer to solo and some prefer 5 mans, best of both right?
To the OP: As much as I would love an expansion it is too soon for that- Anet said that they will not release expansions on the same timetable as GW and will focus more on the living Story with continuous updates.
Personally I feel that they are only warming up to the concept and are testing out how they want to do things, while getting the infrastructure in place.
If you look at F&F and now Southsun you can definitely see that they are listening and that they are evolving.
Don’t forget that it is entirely possible to open more maps and add more story with the Living World mechanism
I think we will be in for a very fun ride in the next couple of months.
Just love Fireheart Rise: the stunning natural beauty along with the pollution and the structures and the Flame Legion, I love the meteors.
I also love the branded zones with the exception of Field of Ruin.
Mount Maelstrom comes to mind- incredible diversity, resources, a lake and an awesome volcano and views.
I also really like the atmosphere in Orr and the architecture is amazing.
I would love weather for Southsun too, roaring tropical storms +1
I like the new South Sun too, it is nice to see something happening in karkaland at last.
I like the Living Story content, I like the vibe, I like the rewards and I love that I can do a solo mission at the end
I got the Flower for my Ranger but since she is not 80 yet I can only preview it.
It actually goes really well with the armour and colours she has now- at least I think soYou can wear it now or at any level so long as you don’e care about the stats. Using a level 80 Transmutation Stone (you only need level 80 stones twice once to bring it down and once to make it 80 once again) transmute it with a piece of armor you can wear, you can take it or any level 80 armor down as low as level 2 white, even soul bound armor becomes account bound.
My ranger has been wearing human T3 armor and level 80 Vigil armor since level 4. Now every time I need new armor as she levels I just transmute what shes wearing into the new armor using the basic transmutation stones.Since this is a Spineguard the lowest most common item you can use to transmute it with is your personal story back piece at something like 30 however there is two ways I know of to get it lower. The first is a level 15 Holiday gift back item that given out late last year if you happen to still have that sitting in your bank or if you buy Rox’s quiver it comes with a cosmetic (no stats) spineguard that you can use to transmute it with.
When you buy rox’s Quiver and double click it it brakes into two items a skin that can be used on any spineguard and the above mentioned white level cosmetic spineguard.
Thanks Nevermore that was really helpful information for everyone to have
I have indeed been doing that kind of thing with my Sylvaris since early levels but I did not know about the spine transmute trick.
She is 60 now and she levels really fast so I might just keep it as an 80 item since I lack fine trans-stones atm to transmute it back to 80
But I love it and I am really glad I got it- I like it more than any other back item in the game for this character So nice to see items that go well with Sylvari
awww thanks anyway- I have GW but I never played it
It seems all the good skins I run into are HoM
Oh well the GW veteran players deserve it
I combined the Fervid Censer with a full set of T2 Cultural Sylvari gear. I went for a ‘blend in with nature’ and I’m pretty happy with the results.
what bow is that? it looks amazing!
I got the Flower for my Ranger but since she is not 80 yet I can only preview it.
It actually goes really well with the armour and colours she has now- at least I think so
So what are they? Those two back items are all that I can look forward to?
I know about the new skins but let’s be honest… They aren’t so pretty and nearly unobtainable by regular player.
What do you mean they are unobtainable?
I really wanted the Flower back piece and I got it in two days- it only took me this long because I had very little time to play.
I am as regular as they come!
i always thought that karka looks like those giant bug monster from starship trooper..
Me too
I vote for Gunnar’s Hold too- It has been my home since the 2nd BWE.
I chose it initially because it had a concentration of more mature players and as such I expected to see less trolling,.
In all my time I have never really seen a bad apple, people are all over the maps even though we are medium pop.
The people are very friendly and helpful and surprisingly chatty.
Lots of jokes and general chat flying about- the other day people were wishing each other happy b-day
We seem to have many new players as well as veterans and whenever a new person asks a question in map chat you will have many responses immediately.
No problems in finding people to help with things- just link it and it is done.
I usually notice i’m in overflow when the map chat deteriorates and gets less friendly.
9/10
I really like it -
a herb I know nothing about other that you can find it in Africa+ Rootrot- reminds me of the sangomas here
My Sylvari ranger is called Crowgirl and she runs around with a raven named Boo
If you did want something original make a sylvari guardian. I dont think i have seen one.. ever.
I don’t think they’re that uncommon :o I’ve seen a few around.
Including me
oh man, I don’t like guardians at all but now I have to have a Sylvari Guardian
Atm I am a little in love with my Sylvari Ranger- not uncommon sure but I think Ranger synergises really well with the Sylvari racial skills- I have a kind of nature magic/druid ranger and she is awesome!
I disliked Trahearne intensely when I played my first couple of human characters and even my first Sylvari.
Then I made my Sylvari ranger and I don’t know if it was because of my personal story (I met him almost immediately after I came out of the dream.)But he grew on me in a big way with that character- she sees him as a trusted friend who has been with her and faced challenges with her since she awoke- she shares a part of her very scary wyld hunt with him and they can help each other fulfill their destinies- hers to slay Zaitan and his to cleanse Orr.
I just finished the mission where you go into Orr in the Pale Tree’s vision and it makes perfect sense.
I guess you have to be a Sylvari to appreciate him.
Well, really, that’s a lot of the problem there. His involvement makes sense if you’re one race, but everyone else he appears from thin air and immediately takes over, making his already insufferable traits even worse.
Oh I agree with that 100% it seems an oversight in terms of Personal Story, especially when he just sort of strong arms it unto the scene at Claw Island, which a bit of a shocker for most people.
Personally I feel the characters Story should be much more developed- I really hope they do this with Order missions down the line.
The Orders were one part of the personal story I felt should be expanded since they make such a big deal out of it and it has so much potential.
Occasional Order Missions after the end of the Personal Story could be a really nice introduction to the rest of the World and whatever is going on, once those things open up

Op: the kind of guest chains you want is what I play single player games for, it is also why I stopped playing traditional MMO’s because I got tired of being stuck into a little box (instanced) with a bunch of people I didn’t know.
I hate instanced content- even more in this glorious open world because every time I have to go into an instance it keeps me from that world. Some DE’s are fairly complicated, especially in the higher level maps.
I would love to see even more complicated DE’s and the things you describe can fit into this system very well.
I am pretty sure as the game develops more and matures we will see some of this.
The Living Story is already going along those lines but in a different way.
Just please keep the end of solo story lines out of 5 man instances. As for the manifesto?
I bought the game back last May because of the manifesto, I haven’t been disappointed and I got exactly what I was expecting.Thats not true. This game is an MMO and it has only one area of content likethat, its personal story. Plus these don’t need to be single player quests. They can easily be multiplayer, like F&F missions, or personal story. So no. Im suggesting they put more content like that in the game, along with DE’s, to create a balance. Ok so not everything in the Manifesto trailer is true, we’ve established that. Perhaps it will be at one point, but not now. Maybe yur standards are dif, I dno. But its clear to nearly everyone that gw2 is not yet at the point where Manifesto promises.
I think you misread my post.
I am not against instanced personal stories, I am against being forced to do instances with a bunch of random people (5 man parties)
I have no problem with having 5 man instances, I do have a problem if they do not scale so they are soloable – like the Flame and Frost stories did right up until MF dungeon- which meant that I could not complete a story I was following for months.I understand what you are saying about more complicated guest chains- I am just not sure if making them instanced is such a good idea.
Someone up-thread had a great Idea for a player activated DE quest chain.
I would much rather see them build on something like that tbh.The thing is the more instanced content you add, the more players get removed from the open world map and makes it emptier and less alive.
I think they need to build on the open world model and add more depth with the tools they already have in place.Thats kinda sad you feel forced. Is it really that big a deal? I agree with your comment about instanced content, but the thing is, there is barely any instanced content in this game, at least in the sense im talknig about. Yes yes there are dungeons and personal story. Some of these don’t even have to be instanced. I mentioned earlier an example where one can obtain town clothes by a short, fun activity in iron marches where you repair a bike. It was cool and I dont know if you would classify it as a quest or what, it certainly wasnt a DE. But whatever you call it, it was fun, and youd be surprised how those little sprinkles of content throughout zones make a difference. WP spoke about this perfectly in one of his vids.
Ahhh I just recently found out about that quest for the bandana but I did it because it very slightly resembles dreads
Those kind of things are great and it does make a zone awesome- if you are suggesting that they make more of those and even extend them a bit then- heck yes I’m all aboard.
This is the kind of thing that makes this game great and more would be awesome- give some cool little skins or fun items at the end and I bet many people will want to play this kind of content
We also have the mini dungeons in the open world those are great too because they are fun and sometimes unexpected addition at the end of a chain
Op: the kind of guest chains you want is what I play single player games for, it is also why I stopped playing traditional MMO’s because I got tired of being stuck into a little box (instanced) with a bunch of people I didn’t know.

I just came back after a decently long break.
When I left I was on an American server, WvWvW battles non stop, yo ucouldn’t throw a stick without hitting a fight.
I came back….I have bee nmoved to a French server since apparently my other server got shut down (what I was told) and there is pretty much NO WvWvW going on no matter what time I attempt…
This game had so much potential, but after reading the reports about the % sales being down and % of population leaving, it really does make me sad because this dev team had my full support and then after launch it was like we got a whole new team that just didn’t listen…
Sorry if it comes across as me dissing the devs or GW2 because I am not, I am just sad at the lost potential…
I am not going to comment on your statement about sales and what not.
It does sound like your account was compromised since no servers have shut down and even if they have it would make no sense to move you from a NA to EU server.
I’d suggest contacting support.

I have a problem with the clipping on Sylvari cultural armour.
The skirts for light armour clipp through swords and the chest piece for t1 medium clips through the bow- It is very depressing, since Sylvari armour choices are so few to begin with
I don’t think that the game needs more hardcore content to keep the hardcore players playing.
This game needs more content to keep everyone playing.
The assumption that casual players treat games like revolving doors are just not true imo.
In my experience it is the casual crowd that does stick around because they play mostly for fun and are not so obsessed with gaining achievements, min maxing and generally beating the game.
Providing content across the board adds to longevity.
Living Story is a really cool concept that does attempt to do exactly this and it will certainly add to the longevity of GW2.
Imo what is needed is more variety in cosmetics, more DE’s, expanded story quests and generally more fun non combat things to do like the mini games, Player housing Guild housing etc
PvE culling is my biggest complaint atm
here we have…
Medium armor
Chest: Tier 1 Human
Gloves: Tier 3 Human
Head: Conquest
Shoulder: Invader
Legs: Tier 2
Boots: honed Leather shoesKinda going for a half pirate/half zorro kinda look I guess. Reminds me of the guy in the princess bride :P
P.S. LOOK I CAN SEE BOTH OF MY LEGS!
Princess Bride!
Well done -that is awesome

How sad is this: My main is a mesmer who can’t jump.
At jumping puzzles I put on my staff and pretend I’m an ele so people won’t ask me for a port :P
So I am very thankfull if a kind soul ports me- I tip 50s, more if I have any on me and say thanks
Are you on Eu server?
And I’m in.
Can someone close this thread and thanks.
(edited by Morrigan.2809)
As it says- anyone having trouble to log in now?
I can’t get my client to update, never mind log in.
It was fine last night.
If you are in NA and play on NA time you might want to check Tarnished Coast- I hear it is awesome but it is really difficult to get on.
I play in Eu on Gunnar’s Hold and it is a great server.
