On average boss fights lasted about 0-10% longer. On fotm49 things went faster than usual because I gearchecked the group to make sure they were all zerkers. Usually I can carry some slackers, but I don’t risk it anymore.

And this ladies and gents, is why nerfing zerker was a bad idea.

Next to the scheduled world boss events and WvW already mentioned the temple events in Orr are also giving dragonite ore

Orr Temples were my main supply when getting an Ascended Weapon, but megaservers made it harder for my guild to coordinate

I do all the events that pop up (since their on a synchronized timer, I do every single event) and I’m still not finding myself swimming in dragonite ore. Even if I get an average of 12 ore per event, it’ll take me 31 hours of just events to make my armor. While that is a much better figure from my original estimate, it seems like either people with too much of it are playing the game a little too much (no offense) or I’m doing something wrong here.

I’m looking into making ascended weapons/equipment, but the problem has become that I lack dragonite ore. I’ve tried doing the events that now run on a 15 minute timer, but that nets me about 3-5 ore per event, or 5 minutes for 1-2 ore. To get the 1500 needed for armor and 2.5 minutes per ore it would take me roughly 62 hours of just events to get my dragonite ore. How are people filling up on it so quickly that it’s clogging up their inventories?

Oh items are cheap, let us complain and hope it’ll be expensive so people can’t afford nothing.

I’m much happier when silk is 8 copper instead of 1.97 silver

I’m not suggesting it shoot up to 1.97, but as it is I’m pretty much deleting leather out of my inventory. Until I used about 4 stacks to get 25 levels on Huntsman, junk items were worth more to me than leather. That’s bad. I’d rather it sit at 15 copper (a small amount higher) and fluctuate a bit like everything else instead of 8 million sections just sitting on the TP. Why you think it’s good that so much of it goes unused is beyond me. Demotion would be the best possible thing that ArenaNet could do to fix this problem.

Exactly. What we need is more supply of t2-t4, not less supply of t5. It’s exactly the thinking OP proposes that led to the current prices of silk – we don’t need a repeat of that.

I only really play my Guardian, so I don’t have much experience with leather other than I had enough to make a bunch of bowstrings when leveling Huntsman and Leatherworker. According to GW2Spidy the price of leather is about equivalent to the price of ore so if people wanted to craft leatherworker, they would.
Cost to level crafts: (according to gw2crafts.net)
Weaponsmith – 20 gold
Armorsmith – 20 gold
Tailoring – 20 Gold
Huntsman – 17 Gold
Leatherworker – 17 Gold
Jewelcrafting – 8 Gold
Artificing – 7 Gold
Cooking – 4 to 2 gold
I know gw2crafts.net isn’t the most accurate, but leatherworker is currently the cheapest of all the armor disciplines out there. If people wanted to level it, they would. I just leveled huntsman to completion, and a good chunk of my XP came from refining leather into bowstrings, so in my experience it’s never had a problem with supply and it’s not like I was going out searching for the leather. The last thing I want is something like what happened with Silk Scraps to happen again, but there’s a problem when 8 million Thick Leather Sections are just sitting on the TP.

With the addition of Ascended Crafting the demand for silk scraps went up considerably, yet the demand for Leather didn’t go up at all. There’s almost 8 million Thick Leather Sections sitting on the TP going for minimum price and not a single buy order. The amount of Thick Leather Section sinks needs to go up. Maybe require more for ascended equipment, maybe new armor skins requiring a generous leather sink, just something to make Thick Leather Sections useful instead of just wasted inventory space.

Can we please get the material costs reduced on silk. It’s by far the most crazy expensive ingredient now.

Reduce Silk Bolts back to 2 scraps per bolt, and reduce the Ascended Spools down to 50.

Why did they even do this in the first place?

Because for over a year silk has been selling for below the vendor price. Until that ascended armor update silk was always the most abundant item on TP. Now silk has some value.

And leather still doesn’t have a single buy order, and there is what, 7.8 million of them on the TP?

2 tips:
1. Always give check sell orders and buy orders. It tells you how much you could sell for vs how much people are willing to pay, and if there are a lot of high price buy orders and just a couple sell orders, you know your items will sell fast due to high demand.

2. Don’t tell people what you’re crafting…

I get where you’re coming from, but honestly ascended materials take a while to gather base materials for and almost no one has the patience to turn over high profit like I just did. Like you said, these materials are high demand and don’t stay on the TP long, but they do take an age to craft from scratch (thanks timegating).

Word travels fast in this game, but it’s true time gating will make it harder for others to intrude on your crafting. The second tip is more for other stuff.

Map completion is supposed to be one of the ways you level up in this game, not the only way. Double check to make sure there is no other map you can complete at your level. Your original post makes no mention of the events, which should be your bread and butter while leveling. One of those can give you 7% of your current level and are quite fun in my opinion. You mention grinding mobs though, which is a horrible, horrible, horrible idea. You mentioned not wanting to craft in your posts, which is a big mistake, not just for levelling but for end game gear. To get back on topic, just explore everything. 100% every zone you can, not just the ones you like. Once that stops working, you’ll have to try some of the other stuff like dungeons. You also mentioned having done all your personal story, and dungeons tie directly into it. After level 30ish Destiny’s Edge is still a major part of the story, it’s just told in dungeons. Most story dungeons aren’t to hard and give 2/3 of a levels worth of XP at the end so there is that. You will have to retrain your brain a bit from other MMOs idea of “Quest, quest quest level level level” to the idea that everywhere is open to you and you will want/need to see all of it. And on the topic of WvW, it’s not really PvP, but if it’s not your thing you won’t need to do it.

@Mystic According to the wiki, the 10% fee and the 5% fee are both paid by the seller, so if I buy 100 mithril ingots, turn to mithrilium and sell it I pay the same 15% fee I’ll pay if I gathered the mithril and crafted it, unless I’m misunderstanding your posts. You will pay 30 silver, just in the time spent gathering mithril. It’s much more effective to just buy the stuff than to gather it all.

2 tips:

There are people out there who still thinks that crafting is not profitable based on their past experiences a long long time ago. Let them continue to think this way, so we can profit. There is actually very good gold to be made just by crafting at low levels, quite unlike when the game was just released. The new wardrobe helps to drive this too.

But don’t spread this too much so we can keep the supply of crafted goods low. Keep telling everyone that crafting sucks and that they are better off selling their crafting materials to the TP than level up crafting.

I learned this myself actually. I was making a couple gold a day by crafting [censored] but as soon as people saw what I was doing the price dropped from around 15% profit with an hour wait time between putting up for sale and it selling, to a 50% loss. In fact, according to GW2spidy it still hasn’t recovered, and I did this a few months ago. Players like me who make the decision to spread the word ruin it for people like me who use beaded weapons/ other low level crafts to level up low level alts and make a coin while doing it.

My solution: For every time the defense is successful, the next one has two times as many mobs until the camp get’s totally over run. After one successful defense, the world boss will appear during the defend event just to make it feel climactic.

One hit kills in dungeons are a major problem imo. Why bother healing in a fight with Kohler when if you don’t dodge he’ll one shot you? Healing won’t fix that.

Pro tip: Dodging fixes that problem.

Personally I like skills in which the only way to survive is to dodge. Dodge is there for a reason. Every profession has it.

This is by definition, a learn to play problem. More specifically, Learn to Dodge.

If everything in the game can be dodged, why would you ever want a healer or a tank? That’s the problem I’m referring to, as I have no problem dodging Kohler. And I doubt shouting “Learn to dodge!” is gonna res my pugs after all but me wipe :/

(If you don’t get any of the Bags of Wondrous goods, which add up), and at 1.5% per match, and 10 minutes per match it will take you 11 hours and 6 minutes to max one reward track. We also don’t get the 3 gold you get every run, so I’d say the 60 gold you’ll get is worth 5 hours of time. It should take closer to 15 hours IMO, as we were going a little too fast on the progression but now it will take us much longer than it would take you. Now if we have to do it 6 times we will end up spending triple the amount of time it would take you to get the armor in Arah, and all we get for it is a few shots at a precursor.

Have you ever set foot in PvE?

1) There are 2 paths that take 1 hour to complete with a very good party. The others are at least 2 hours. Running every arah path 5 times is closer to kitten hours than 20, if not more.
2)These runs are limited to 1 per day, meaning you have to wait at least 5 days before you get your armor. You can finish a reward track in one day easily.
3) You forgot the thousands of tokens worth of dungeon weapon skins that you get in the process in pvp.
4)You mention the loot in dungeons, but completely ignore the fact that you get a decent amount of rewards and gold from the tracks too, by salvaging the exotics, opening champ bags, etc. Not to mention the mystic clovers and obi shards.
5)Part of the pvp reward is rank points, which you don’t get in PvE
6)If CoF is only 12 minutes for 120 tokens and you need the armor so badly, then run it. But keep in my how it’s not 12 minutes for 120 tokens due to being limited to once per day. Also it gives 1 gold, not 2.

You are also forgetting the fact that many pvp’ers have their lockers and dungeon armors almost all unlocked because they already had a “wardrobe” in pvp. PvE’ers ave to run every dungeon again.

Bottom line is: You got a lot from this patch, PvP and PvE are different, PvP rewards are fine, stop complaining

1. Yes, so only do those paths. That’s what I did when I wanted my dungeon armor. The dungeons force you to take breaks whereas PvP doesn’t. That’s why it seems so much shorter.
2. Already discussed. Just because the game makes you take breaks doesn’t mean it takes.
3. The thousands of tokens are pretty worthless when you already have them. Why would I want 18 weapons skins? I’d get at most 4 mystic forges out of that.
4. I’ll rephrase your question to you: Have you set foot in PvP? You don’t get a fair amount of gold from PvP. From SoloQ you only get around 30 silver if you win, which you could make much faster in a dungeon or on a champ farm (this coming from a dungeon farmer)
5. How do rank points even come into this? They aren’t a reward, they’re a way of measuring how long you spent in PvP, much like levels are in PvE.
6. Except it is, 120 tokens in 12 minutes, just with a 24 hour cooldown every 6 minutes. That’s why it seems like it takes forever. And it is 2 gold because 120 tokens is 2 paths, which is 2 gold. And then, you can run the path again afterword and get 20 tokens, so 15 minutes for 60 tokens is 345 minutes to get a full set of armor, or 5.75 hours, still much shorter than it would take us.

Bottom line is we lost a lot from this patch. I used to get 3-5 skins for every tournament I won, now I’ll be lucky to get a couple dungeon skins for every 33 tournaments (33 wins is 99%, so just over that). PvP rewards are not fine if you only use them in PvP. Exotic stats don’t make a difference in PvP, so now because they carry over to PvE we are forced to progress much, much, slower. Arah takes much longer yes, but other dungeons do not, and so because of the fact ANet has tried to make getting dungeon armor in PvP take as long as it would in PvE (and take a uniform amount of time.) we are forced to progress at the speed of doing Arah, which pretty much makes them useless.

full zerk party can finish cof p1 in 5-6min. 2g in 6m. hm…

120 tokens in 12 minutes is a lot better rewards then we get even if we get a full set.

Getting that in PvE takes 1380 tokens. You get 60 per run per path once a day, else it’s 20. Running one path can take anything from 1-4 hours, depending on the path and how routinized you are.

I’d much rather have more weapons than armor. Not sure why people are complaining. Forge or salvage those weapons you don’t need! Use the tokens you get to buy more armor if you want it.

Except salvaging doesn’t get me dungeon armor >.<
I thought I was working towards a set, when in reality I’m working towards a bunch of salvages and one piece of armor. This is not nearly as good as the old way it worked, when I could beat a tournament and get a bunch of armor/weapons whereas now I need to do 50 SoloQ tournaments (on average) to get one piece of armor and 3 weapons. The whole set was why it was worth doing it.

Hey everyone,

This is a wording bug not a content issue. The design behind the dungeon tracks was that players would need to run the track multiple times to get the entire set of weapons and armor.

19 – weapons
18 – pieces of armor (6 light, 6 medium, and 6 heavy)

Upon completing a track you will get 3 weapons and 1 piece of armor all your choice including stat combo. Upon running the track multiple times you are able to either save tokens for legendary or use tokens to speed the process up of getting the full weapons/armor set you are working towards.

The fact the text says “set” is a mistake that we are going to update soon. Any other questions just let me know.

But we only need 2-3 (aquatic) weapons, and 6 armor pieces. Why aren’t we getting 3 armor pieces per track and one weapon at the end? It’s only logical because then it would take a total of 2 completes to get all of the pieces you need for one character.

It needs to be removed. I was playing a tournament yesterday and one of the guys says “This is my first time in PvP” and he ended up with the most points but was easily the worst player on the team, as he would cap a point and it would be lost 5 seconds later, whereas the rest of the team held the points.

Or ANet could just fix this (probably) glitch and we get 3 weapons and a full armor set. Before you’d get skins almost every tournament win, now you have to do a full track. I think it evens out considering they’re exotics.

It seems there was some miscommunication here…

I believe they intended it to be one piece but due to how the text was phrased, people assumed it was a whole set.

They really have to double check these things…

Except they give us weapons all along the way. So far I’m at 58% and I picked two weapons worth 390 tokens a piece. Why would they give us expensive items all along the way only to have the goal be less than what we got all along?

I was in the middle of a SoloQ and everyone was kicked. It appears lot of people were because the lobby was full of people complaining (we should get a free legendary for emotional damages) and now when I try to get into a tournament nothing happens. When I click “Go Now” the button disappears. This is occurring at approximately 8:00pm est on 4/17/2014.

Zerk is only important to dungeon speed farmers and they will still be demanding it cause god forbid a run takes a few extra minutes out of their busy schedules. Anet narrowed the gap between Zerker and everything else so technically it is making Zerk less important cause having a non Zerk in your party is a smaller loss in DPS than it used to be.

(Let me just get this out of the way, I’m not a speedrunner, I always bring anyone and everyone who fills up my LFGs with the description of “P- All Welcome”.)
This change has made Zerker MORE important because with the reduction in DPS, we need more of it to make up for it. I typically run Knight’s, but I understand that this will reduce my party’s DPS in dungeons, and now I’m going to have to swap to it to help pick up the loss of DPS.
