Dungeon tracks not unlocked?

So if I run Sorrow’s Embrace, Arah, Citadel of Flame, whatever, story today will I have it unlocked forever or will I have to unlock it again?

I’m almost ashamed of this. The game knows I’ve completed story because I can open. Why doesn’t PvP just access that and unlock it by default?

How Many Points per Match?

in PvP

Posted by: Morsus.5106

Morsus.5106

Okay, that seems fair. Since a hotjoin match takes 6-7 minutes, an hour of it seems about fair for the rewards we’re seeing considering that we used to be able to change our gear much more freely.

How Many Points per Match?

in PvP

Posted by: Morsus.5106

Morsus.5106

I only had enough time to play one PvP match today, and the reward track looked good. Does anyone know how many points towards our reward tracks we get per match? I only did two matches today via quick join and both were losses (I’m not the most experience in PvP, I only recently got into it) and I got 1% per match. That seems pretty good, but I wasn’t able to try the other ones to see how many points they gave. Does anyone know how many points other types of matches give?
EDIT: This has probably been asked before, but I haven’t seen it. Thank in advance!

I haven’t tried solo arena yet. Does it give a lot more progress towards rewards than hotjoin? Standard random matches only gave me 1%, and that seems pretty good for a loss. Anyone know how much individual matches get?

You’re saying we get THE PATCH in 30 minutes?

I’m not saying anything, just that’s about the time we usually get it. Anywhere between there and 2 pm est (About 23 minutes from the time I post this) but I’ve been off by a good couple hours before.

But I’m not asking for the sound, just <small> graphical effect to make it more fitting to the game. o.O

It’s fitting as is. No matter how small it is, we’d still get it constantly all around the cities and that would be incredibly annoying. It’s a good idea, but if it happened it would be used so much it would just become annoying.

Well, it sure would drain the economy. The recipe should be a forge one, IE:
1 Extended Potion Recipe
1 Extended Potion (matching the recipe)
1 Obsidian Shard
250 Bloodstone Dust

Then you get out a recipe that is account bound and will teach you how to turn 10 potions into any potion of the same type into a potion that negates that much damage and deals that much more into one the affects all enemies. For example,
10x Strong Potion of Inquest Slaying – +8% Damage Vs Inquest, -6% Damage Vs Inquest
1 Strong Potion of Slaying – +8% Damage, -6% Damage.
EDIT: Should require 400 Artificing. At 450, you can turn 10 potions in to 2 of the next tier.

I’d prefer a buy-it-once-get-it-all expansion over a nickel-and-dime style expansion. Plus if you call it microtransactions the internet will blow up whereas if you call it an expansion everyone will flock to you. EDIT: Maybe like SWTORs digital smaller expansions. $20 and you get 5 new zones, 1 new weapon type, 3 new skills per class, and 2 new dungeons. I’d buy that day one. Not “400 gems for the next zone” style DLC. I can get behind digital expansions though.

4. Don’t transfer, with megaserver changes coming tomorrow you’ll almost always have a lot of people.

Morsus.5106

I’ve spent about 500 hours in-game and I can say there is an insane amount of eletism, but most of it can be avoided by playing a Warrior. To a lesser extent Guardians and Mesmers, and you won’t find too many people who hate Elementalists. Personally, I like Thieves, but not many others do. If you play Engineer, Ranger, or Necromancer people will hate you for it.
EDIT: If you like dungeons, play a Warrior or a Guardian. A Warrior is wanted everywhere, and in standard group play the Guardian is loved all around. It’s very balanced and plays incredibly well with others without feeling underpowered when soloing things. Warriors are good for speedruns and while they probably won’t get in the way of anyone in a dungeon, they lack almost all of the support that Guardians have, though they more than make up for it with their DPS. They can also be pretty tanky, but Guardians will do that better.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Why would they have to be fully redressed? As far as I know, it would cost the same amount as it would prior to the patch because you can still get different armor, you just pay the same fee you would for a transmutation crystal beforehand. Same cost, except you only need one skin for as many transmutes as you want.

AP, a real measurement of player ability?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Morsus.5106

Morsus.5106

There’s really no 100% accurate way to measure someone’s skill in a dungeon. You could go off of the dungeon armor they have on but they might have been carried and/or farm a different path (and some builds may not be compatible with the stats for that dungeon). Legendaries just indicate a lot of gold (or a parent’s credit card) and it’s unrealistic to say “LFG all legendaries and ascended armor”. AP indicates they’ve spent some time in the game, but doesn’t really mean much. Everyone tends to accumulate AP though, so it can target a broader audience.

well it should take some time but it should not contain grind?!?
at least a bit grind should be in there.. not THAT MUCH however..

When I say not much grind, I mean it shouldn’t require you to farm very much but should require you to do stuff like The Queens Gauntlet. Liadri on steroids would warrant a precursor imo. Jumping puzzles with rewards geared towards legendaries would be good too.

Getting a Legendary

In my opinion, getting a legendary should not:
1) Be locked behind farming/RNG.
2) Feel like a grind
3) Be impossible to accomplish

A legendary should:
1) Show that a player is skilled and have more bragging rights besides I have no life.
2) Take time, but not feel like you have to give up a normal life to achieve one.
3) Be obtainable, but not given freely.

Half a million XP isn’t all that much for a level 80. According to the wiki a level 80 needs 4,860,359 xp to level up. IMO it shouldn’t let you level down, but will take all the XP you have on hand (run a dungeon for 70% XP, use orb, buy orb, run a dungeon to get 70% use orb, buy orb).

LIONS ARCH: You choose the future!

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Morsus.5106

Morsus.5106

Maybe we could have players choose how Lion’s Arch is rebuilt (sort of). Say a business owner wants to open a shop in one of the destroyed buildings. He/She stand in the plaza collecting donations. Once he reaches the goal, he leaves the plaza and at the end of the time period his store is open. Donations could also be made to the city directly which will result in roads be repaired, rubble being cleared, etc. There could be new shops, like a cooking building you go into that sells a lot of different cooking supplies for karma, or a big forge building with lots of crafting stations for things like Weaponsmithing and Armorsmithing, there could be a dueling arena where players place bets on which NPC will win, maybe a shop that sells a limited amount of hard to get account bound at high prices (IE Obsidian Shards at 2x the normal karma cost, Bloodstone dust, Dragonite ore, Empyreal Shards for 10 silver a piece, etc. with a maximum per day with the item varying by the day).

Suggestion: LEVELING COLLEGE

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Morsus.5106

@Fasalina You have 6 alts, and I can appreciate that. I’ve spent 450 hours on my first character, and I can say I enjoyed that MUCH more than the 50 I spent levelling my second alt. I don’t enjoy levelling. Why should I have to do it? I prefer being a max level, experimenting with builds, doing fractals and other dungeons (contrary to common belief, scaling doesn’t work so great and they are 2x as hard at the minimum level) etc. I find my enjoyment of the game at max level. Why is that so wrong?

Morsus.5106

IIRC=If I recall correctly.

I am really baffled at how you can claim to be about PvE and still not want to level up in PvE. Is what you’re planning to do at 80 really that different from what you’re doing before 80?

In my case, yes. Few people want to bring someone who just barely meets the level requirement for a dungeon, and when I do find a group I’m not nearly as effective as I am at level 80.

New to game, got a question:

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I started with a Guardian and I enjoyed it. I’m now working on finishing up a Warrior and I can say I enjoyed both of those. Guardian is pretty easy to learn and so is Warrior.

Suggestion: LEVELING COLLEGE

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Morsus.5106

Morsus.5106

It could be done similarly to the Queens Gauntlet. Easy opponents are worth half a level, whereas a very difficult opponent would be worth 5 levels. It should also teach profession specific roles, like for a Guardian you would have to keep the conditions from a boss from killing the NPC allies, or to use Wall of Reflection time properly to keep an NPC party from wiping. Other challenges could consist of having an instant-kill enemy that needs to be taken down, and an enemy that takes no damage from you but dies slowly over time, or an enemy that can only be hit by conditions and an enemy immune to conditions. If this college can teach players to do something besides just grind to 80 and then grind dungeons that would be great.

Instant level 80 gem item?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Morsus.5106

Morsus.5106

put that gem into the store. Make it extremely expensive. Give every character that got to level 80 this way an indicator (saving other people from wild button mashing max level new players in dungeons and fractals).

The icon should only be there for a small time or can be removed by running dungeons, doing events, etc. because after awhile that person will know more than someone who leveled normally.

Suggestion: LEVELING COLLEGE

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Morsus.5106

Morsus.5106

No – I leveled a toon to 80, without dying just doing content and exploration (no boosts, etc). I think it is a very bad idea. Factions was the worst chapter of the GW1, it was so shallow.

People are already saying GW2 is easy-peasy and you want to make it easier?

I think what he’s suggesting is instead of the boring grind to 80, we have challenging content designed to teach us our profession. This will make the game much more difficult than the leveling grind.

Keep that pay-to-get-to-max-level cash shop kitten in World of Warcraft, a game with a box cost, subscription fee and features like this that costs even more than the game box and subscription itself.

Guild Wars 2 already got a lot of easy ways to reach max levels and is very forgiving with experience, no need for that World of Warcraft kitten.

Except levelling is mind-numbingly boring. I spent about 50 hours levelling my Warrior and I’m happy it’s over. The first time through with my Guardian it was fun but I’m not sure I’d be willing to do that again.

Instant level 80 gem item?

Morsus.5106

World of Warcraft is now selling an item like that for $60. You get it for $40 though when you buy an expansion. Considering that it takes much less time to level in GW2, I think $20 would be a good asking price, but goes up 5% each time you buy it to try to prevent people from just buying all 8 classes. To keep people levelling normally, each level 80 alt reduces the price by 10% with a minimum of $20. (IE 2 normal 80s, you need to buy the gem 4 times before it goes up).

That is WoW -the kitten game. I would never want A.Net to follow in Blizzard’s footprints.

Also with the change in the way skills are added coming up, I think this is just an excuse for the people who don’t want these changes. With lvl scaling in the game, an instant 80 makes no sense at all.

Well, instant 80 makes sense for me, a frequent dungeon runner. I’d prefer easier to get Tomes of Knowledge, because I can get behind farming for those lol. Actually, I’d be more likely to spend 1 gold on a free level than any money on an instant level 80.
