Well not really… I was in ascended and full DPS hammer guardian and I actually saved some guy from dying, so I don’t feel like I was carried but it is true they would normally just do it in 9-man.

Concerning the rewards, so far I got only 1 exotic out of it.

I was just invited by a friend into an experienced squad. We killed VG with no deaths and around 3 minutes to spare. On the first try. LOL…. it felt like mosman before that, they did sabetha 8-man…. If only I could find so good people on LFG… but then I guess it wouldn’t feel so epic to beat it.

All the empty spots between other maps. In shiverpeaks, Tengu, maguuma piece of map.

But the expansion I want is Charr homeland.

Well… I’m saving up those bags from Maguuma Falls for my level 55 ele who opens them for linen scraps and leather sections. So infinite salvage tool doesn’t fix my problem.

No, it is not that. You have exotic champion loot box, you get the same one some time later in some other map. Both exotic, both share the same name, the same description, the same icon, and yet, they don’t stack. It is really annoying but I was always lazy to make a topic about it. Thank you, OP.

Spam it every time you are going near enemies or going to open the pod. If you get ganged by smokescale and you are running zerk gear, you are pretty much dead if not playing for guardian, so these feathers are really useful.

Would still loved to craft my own though. My bank is full of saved up cooking ingredients and yet I have to buy food from TP. It would cost me zero gold if I could just use my stocks.

Why is this recipe not acquirable from molten facility / duo fractals? It is pretty bad design that a small percentage of people who has this recipe can control the prices. And buying it for around 100 gold is also not feasible.

This should drop somewhere. It is not some special skin like jetpack that has to maintain its rarity. It is a high-end food that is needed in raids that are now ArenaNet’s focus. Therefore, this recipe needs to be acquirable again.

BTW, Crystal, would it be possible to make those ghostly infusions +7AR +5 other stat? It doesn’t make sense to use +5 when we can equip +7 now.

Your condescension is misplaced. The problem is that the game gives you no indicator whatsoever of what you should do to avoid attacks like this, so there’s very little iterative learning without reading about strategy on the forums. Some people get lucky and get it right early on, some people don’t and die over and over again trying to figure out if they need to try staying at range or engaging in melee, how much they should be trying to res their allies that were killed in one-hit vs how much they should try to tank and solo, etc.

Don’t forget that excessive, pointless moving is actually often not a good thing in a lot of MMOs and doesn’t really make a lot of intuitive sense.

Well, I don’t know. I was probably lucky that I was enjoying my new-found weapon – longbow on dragon hunter, so I automatically went max range, circling the boss, stepping right and left to avoid those little orbs he spawns and that black hole attack is definitely dodgeable. I don’t say I didn’t die, but actually had fun. It doesn’t take a genius to realize that you can’t melee a boss that spreads dozens of slow moving missiles in 360 degree circle around him. Every RPG is supposed to have challenging bosses like this one, and HoT is about learning from dying.

I can also help with other dungeons but I don’t know them by heart.

OP, sorry for that trinket mistake, you were right.
It is however laughable what you think about guild wars 2 business model.
millions people bought this game because it is B2P. If ArenaNet changes their model to subscription or micro transaction for content, I would just leave, and with me millions of people. You don’t understand that there are people buying so many gems, that they are a tally making this model possible.

Actually it is not. When you level up your character in other mmo to a max level, does XP still matter? I don’t think so.

They won’t keep track of your XP. The new masteries will be added with new raid wings, LW3 and future expansions. Don’t expect all of them will be a large grind. For example the ones for raid wing recquire you to play through one DS meta and you get them done.

But the game actually is not about build diversity. It is about DPS. At least in PVE. I don’t know about WvW and you can’t count pvp into that. Nomad actually is a lost stat combo that is used as an unflattering adjective. I remember the first topic on the forum when nomad was released in molten facility update that introduced Braham. Its subject was: nomad, perfect for trolling.
And this day, you still can’t acquire azure orb anywhere in the game and as far as I know, there are no trinkets (ascended) in this stat combo because it is considered a dead end addition to the game.

Concerning the transactions,
I am for paying for major expansions, but
I am not for paying for monthly updates because
This game is actually doing pretty well with selling just cosmetics, convenience stuff, and gold. + past LW2

Just because you don’t buy anything, it doesn’t mean other people do the same. And just because the sales of HoT were lower as expected, it doesn’t mean the game is doing bad.

Tl;dr. Sorry. I got to the nomad druid part. Man, I feel for you, but you have to understand that nomad stats were released just for fun and to troll people in WvW (and spvp at some point of time if I remember correctly). I used to run full soldier with soldier runes and I definitely agree it was fun, but you have to understand that this game is based about that ugly DPS factor. It took me a while to digest it, but it is true. If you want to go full tank, I’m afraid this is not a game for you. I also loved tanking with my soldier guardian, but then I switched to zerker and found out I have the same fun as before and now I actually do damage. If you need some extra defense, you can always just swap 1-2 trinkets. Don’t quit the game before you actually try it. And druid is all about healing, so why not some of those new healing stats?

No spiritshards anymore…sadly. Just enjoy the game and ignore the XP gains. New masteries are planned to be released.

I have read about this somewhere. You have to repeat it and hope for the best. Or wait until Anet confirms it is fixed.

I think it didn’t give you the achievement because it counts milliseconds too. Try to do it in 1.19. BTW, good job! I tried it a lot and managed only 1.37

You can do raids for 45 minutes a week and after that you either spend your time AFK in royal terrace, doing dead and unrewarding instanced content or grinding open world for some useless skins because there is no gear treadmill.

This game used to have a decent hardcore community when people actually cared about playing efficiently and trying to be the best, but anet has killed off everything that was left of it

1. If I’m afk, I go pee or take snack or something….I don’t log in to stand on a spot and do nothing.
2, why would I buy that overpriced royal pass item?
3. When I play, I actually enjoy playing open world maps, or have 1-2 matches of PvP… Then I can do fractals for cash, do some higher level fractal for the achievement…and usually that’s it. 2-3 hours are gone and I’m going to live my life. Have you tried it?

On a sidenote, I did raid for several evenings and I never even beaten the first boss. Finding good people and beating it is taking a lot of time and effort to a person with RL.

Many of us only still log in because we have friends in this game, gw2 pretty much turned into a form of social media for me, and the royal terrace pass gives me a nice view while playing ingame chat.
But yeah, I feel bad for you, I beat the raid wing a week after release while going to uni fulltime and not even being able to play for 3 days due to finals, but apparently that’s impossible for somebody with a “RL”

Yeah, hh.. Around the time when raid was released I invested all my gaming time and gold on finishing my girlfriend’s Bifrost, so I missed out the initial learning runs and didn’t have gold to get proper stats afterwards because…well…exam period, family, etc. So now it was hard to find people to raid with when others already have those legendary insights.

Anyway, Sesshi should just take a break from GW2 and come back for the new content, so he can burn through it and move on again.

I have a very similar experience. I can’t say I disliked HoT at first, I just wasn’t in love with it it much. But as I got better, and unlocked the masteries I somehow started liking it a lot, even though it has its flaws (lose of reward on DC, too much CC and damage on mushrooms, etc…). My Thursday experience in Verdant Brink meta that I have attempted after several months long break (since raid release) was very pleasant. When HoT came out, I was trying to get to tier 4 night dozens of times and I never succeeded. So I told myself I will wait until people unlock masteries and learn the event mechanics. And I was right to do so! I joined a semi organised map (2 comms, lots and lots of mentors) and we actually protected almost every camp and when we killed all 5 bosses we were tier 4 (my first time ever) and got like 8 minutes left!!!! I got my precious armor box and I sticked around for a second round and got to tier 4 night with like 6 minutes left it was amazing. I think after ArenaNet polishes HoT in their Q2 update, everything will be even smoother and more fun.

See??? That is another AMAZING idea!!! Add scribing recipes and materials to dungeons!!!! That would justify the gold reward nerf as people would be able to sell looted scribing mats.

This guy is overly emotional. He played for freaking 12 THOUSAND hours. Wou…get a life bro. You can try to achieve something there too, you know. I play about 5 days per week and my game time since headstart is what? 2K hours? And I thought that is a lot of time already….ehh

I got my herald from zero hero points to 80 points missing (8 HoT hero challenges) in just one evening. But yeah, you need majority of the HoT masteries for that. But why would you rush it? Enjoy your time.

Thank you all for your replies. BTW, one more question: in what party compositions does PS warrior need to run runes of strength instead of scholar?
The thing is, I want to have one ascended berserker armor with scholar runes so I can use it in raid with all three heavy armor professions but I’m afraid I will have to have strength on warrior, thus 2 armor sets :/

Oh this is a great thread. Thaddeus, does it mean that if you put buffers into a separate group, they give boons to all 10 players? Am I right when I say that chrono+herald in group 3 first give boons to group 2, and then group 1, and then again group 2?

Basically I want to figure out the mechanics behind giving out boons and why to divide squad into more than 2 groups.

Thank you Thaddeus for your suggestion. I’m actually in a progress of earning gold for commander tag + reforging my tanking heavy armor and some weapons into berseker. If I do it, I can actually play herald, PS warrior and DPS hammer guard with the same piece of armor and weapons. And if I actually want to tank VG, I can just swap trinkets. Previously I used build in which weapons and a few armor pieces were knight/cavalier stats, but today I realized I can get pretty close to the same stats while swapping only trinkets. But I do like raids :‘( I just don’t like not having raiding group and having to switch from guardian (work in progress, just 8 more HoT HPs until fully unlocked herald). On a side note, is herald really stronger than guardian? from my current experience he is not….and is much more squishy

It doesn’t have to take time to bot if somebody managed to hack into TP website. Everything can be done through commands, no graphical representation of TP is neccessary. It would be nice to know if ArenaNet is investigating the issue.

I was done with the first raid wing in 18 hours with SC group, got to fractal 100 2nd day of HoT got to max mastery in a week or so casually and have spent most of my time afking in terrace.

You will definitely find some friendly people on LFG. Just be prepared to meet some kittenbags too.

You get ascended boxes from low levels too. My girlfriend never did fractals 50+ and she already got 3 boxes. Pants, gloves, shoulders (if I remember correctly)
