ArenaNet, istead of putting crystalline ore as a currency everywhere in hope of increasing player numbers in Dragon Stand, rather fix that stupid map:
1. fix disconnects
2. fix the fact you have to wait for new map
3. fix the fact that you get nothing if you cannot stay until the end
4. fix the low time available after the final boss is beaten
5. add crystalline ore as a reward for every event. Why the hell not?!!!!!!!
6. fix fix fix fix. stop with your kittened grind attitudes
For what it is worth – I’m bugged too. Please don’t forget to fix a tree of a poor sylvari
If casuals want hardcore rewards they should become hardcore – it’s that simple.
For once you and I agree on something.
The problem is that HoT doesn’t allow me to play through, effectively, without being hardcore.
HoT doesn’t require you to be hardcore to play it – it does require you to sink time into it.
Like Vayne – you can be casual but sink a lot of time – HoT doesn’t really need you to improve that much but it gates things to artificially increase the length of the expansion.
Wrong again. Calling Vayne a casual is showing you don’t know him much. People who know him from the forum know he is far from being a causal player.
Harper you are so wrong it hurts. Casuals play to have fun and not for rewards? Oh, reeeaaaally? I thought casuals just don’t have time or will to play 8-16 hours a day, unlike stinky elitists.
I agree with Vayne by all means. Nobody could expect that HoT will be what it is, if we compared it to the gameplay from the base game. The advertisement was better AI of mobs, and challenging 10-man content and legendary armor. The reality is is few gimmicky mob mechanics with insta-kill damage, unbalanced 10-man fractals favouring only 50% of the classes and excluding the rest + favouring only highly organised groups of people pre-HoT. There is no friendly way to find people for raiding, as this game is so casual, the guilds don’t mean almost anything. And legendary armor, even though I didn’t even kill VG yet (because I’m guardian and nobody wants me + finding 9 more people is next to impossible), won’t be accessible until maybe the end of the year. And I’m not really going into all that map-meta events that are….. no, I’m not saying anything.
Obal you rule! You should start a movement: Guardians for Raids!! woooooo!!!!!!!
I completely agree with the guy with a long post.
Revenant is a piece of….manure. I hate manure.
Warriors bring dps, banners, and phalanx strength, keeping everyone with 25 stacks of might nearly 85% of the time.
Revenants bring dps, 50% boon duration to 5 players, and lots of boons to 5 players. They can also breakbars very well with staff #5.
Engies, necros are there because Anet had to shoehorn conditions in raids to make conditions mandatory, and proclaim they removed the zerker meta (hint, they haven’t as raids are just dps races…)
Druids can heal and bring unique dmg boosts, although tempest can heal just as well.
Tempests can heal and deal good dmg, especillay versus large targets + lots of utility overall.
Guardians can tank, but so can everyone else due to how aggro is determined by toughness. they can give boons, so so can everyone else.
Mesmers bring alacrity and quickess, altough alacrity is gonna get abit of anerf.
What do thieves bring besides dps? stealth? there’s no skipping here like with dungeons.
This. And ArenaNet probably thinks this is okay. Especially the raid team who made their encounters with this logic. GG.
It’s not that guardians are bad. It’s that better options exist. and why not take the best? If you doing through being a PUG then you should expect to bring your best because that’s what they want.
Because everyone should (if it is possible) to play for his or her chosen toon. I’m a guardian since pre-release beta. I have all 8 other professions too, but non of them is as much fun as guardian for me. I would loved to meet more like-minded people like me, who don’t care if the boss gets killed in 6 minutes or 7. People who prefer fun and quality to pressure and number counting.
My faith is restored.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drS6JYuuKvY&feature=youtu.be
If only people weren’t such stubborn funkilling elitists. I bet 10 thieves can achieve the same thing.
This is amazing. I’m going to repost it on main HoT subforum.
They do have skill balance splitting tech for like 2 years now. Why the hell don’t they use it? I don’t even play PvP anymore. I want to raid but I can’t because my prof is a garbage!!!
I don’t believe this patch will fix anything, but I will stay patient until the next big patch. Both Raid team and balancing team should wake up. The current situation is unacceptable.
Please nerf this game breaking profession.
As Leaa said
Just had a mysterious gold fractal shield appear in my inventory after doing my dailies before opening my chests. I noticed it in my exotic bag. Since i only do page dailies usually i find it hard to believe i got it on a previous day and didnt notice. Can anyone confirm they do come from the page daily chests sometimes or boss chests? I havent done 50+ dailies for over a month either. No idea where it came from x)
I got a golden fractal pistol from doing level 40 or so. My girlfriend got golden fractal mace from doing level 30.
This is a serious issue. Core party profession like guardian cannot be refused in raids!
1. Why only one out of 3 bosses needs a tank? Isn’t it ridiculous to change the whole toon for the next bosses? The answer is: Yes. It breaks the immersion with your character and and it is also very annoying because not everybody enjoys playing with alts.
2. Why don’t we have some skills infused in raid maps to have a shorter cooldown or better effects. We need to have some role in raids, but everything we do, other professions do better. Either use your balancing tech and apply it in raids too, or buff the whole PVE side of guardians, but do something. We need bigger sustained DPS/better support.
3. Why aren’t we on par with revenants who stole our role of a party support, or burn warriors who stole our burning which was the core charasteristics of guardians?
It is ridiculous the revenant can keep boons up 100% of time while having crazy DPS and guardians cannot do even one of these things. We are freaking GUARDIANS, we should be the best at supporting the party! I get your revenant was a big selling point of this expansion, but that doesn’t give you right to completely nullify a core profession. And I get it, you made a condition warrior. But why did you make him a better burner than guardian? Guardian, if specialised in burning, should had always been the best burner in the game.
I don’t care if you make us DPS+support or create raids bosses that require tanks, but you definitely need to do something with us. Raid party that needs just warriors, revenants, tempest and chronomancers is not how raid content is supposed to be designed.
And yes, I get it, you can finish raid with much bigger variety of professions, but why would somebody want to do it, if it meant the fight would get much harder.
ArenaNet, please please PLEASE, you have a chance to make guardian useful in raids now. Please make it happen. I spent dozens of gold just to change my gear into tanking guard for VG. It is pretty stupid that I’m supposed to relog to a different character after VG gets killed.
Once you said you can make PVP and PVE versions of skills. Now, if you really want to focus on e-sports but also create raid content, you should finally use this tech and make changes to PVE version of skills. And not just for guardian.
I’m still hoping, I’m still waiting. If not now, then in next 3 months, but please do something.
IMO, you get 5 skills with necro’s GS, but 8 skills with ele warhorn. Warhorn skills are awesome. Tempest with warhorn is now one of the best professions to play. Ele with GS or hammer sounds pretty silly. you can expect him to get sword in the future. If ele were to get 2-handed weapon, it would mean ArenaNet would have to create 20 weapon skills for him. Plus, imagine the uproar if one profession got 20 new skills and other profession got just 5 or 6… people would be angry.
1. Ascended will be always the best in slot.
2. Ascended armor is just ~5% better than exotic armor
3. When ascended armor was released, people like me crafted it just because they wanted to work towards something. Now there are so many things to work towards in this game that the player has to choose. Basically, you need ascended armor for high level fractals (70+ or something like that), raids (if you are playing with friends and your raid party is good, exotic is enough)
4. Ascended items that are must-have are jewelry. Amulet is the cheapest and even cheaper if you buy it in WvW. For rings just play fractals and you will get loads of them plus tokens for which you can buy the ones you want. Accessories (earrings) are the hardest to get, but if you can find some guild and do guild missions with them, you will get enough tokens for both earrings in like 4 weeks.
5. Ascended weapons are must-have if you are playing raids or high level fractals.
6. Ascended backpack is not hard to get. For example, Mawdrey is very cheap now. Just buy all the foxfire clusters from TP. For the quest for mawdrey you need to do some living world 2 episodes. Other option is to craft ascended backpack from mystic forge or from doing fractals a lot.
In conclusion, first get jewelry, weapons, backpack, then go for ascended armor if you feel like it and just enjoy the game, don’t rush for the gear like many no-lifers out there.
Good luck.
The whole legendary backpack is in my opinion horrible. Too big, too flashy. I would much rather see some cloak. Lineage 2 introduced some new prestige rank and with it, you can wear a cloak. Why is it possible in a game that is one year older than WoW but not in GW2???? I don’t get it….
What are you talking about? What pact commander? The player character is the pact commander. I don’t get this silly topic. There is no canonical race, and that is the point of GW2 story narration.
In their eyes, dungeons weren’t popular enough and people played them just because they knew how to faceroll them and get fast money. That’s why they needed the gold reward. It was the easiest solution for them as it would take too many resources to actually fix them. And the thing is, people played them less and less before the nerf. Some dungeons and paths were always empty. But ArenaNet doesn’t get that dungeons are artistically beautiful and deserve to be preserved. (And I would loved to finally get aetherpath achievements0

Ehm, I feel so awkward. I was probably very tired last time I checked that table with instabilities. I though No Pain, No Gain is also on high level fractals, but it is just that boon thieves one which is not that brutal. Okay, thanks for this advice and enlightment . I think I don’t need to get any gear to get above my current fractal level 43
ArenaNet is just another corporate company… Much like a TV channel. They can’t spend money on making/fixing content if their spreadsheets say it is not popular enough or that it would cost too much to actually fix it. It is much easier for them to just create miniature fractal maps and create false content by allowing scalling up of the instance and adding some annoying debuffs.
I’m not happy about it. Actually, I’m quite furious everytime I remember them saying dungeons were not popular, but this is how it is. From my experience with MMOs, it is quite possible dungeons will be completely removed over time, or just ignored…but no…no more cash will go into them.
Thanks a lot Cyninja. I do know about toughness scalling up only until 50, but that nasty instability which gives mobs and bosses boons when crticially hit is something that requires the least possible precision. Is it really that easy to just faceroll that instability with full zerk? It sounds like a waste of time with all that regen, aegis and constant protection the bosses must have if you are killing them in zerk party.
Edit: yeah, I have just 1 ascended armor – heavy. The 3 boxes I have were supposed to be light. But I’m not really that much attracted to light classes :/
(edited by Mortifer.2946)
So basically the same herald that is useful in raids is also useful in fractals?
Edit: what about the condition gear?
Hey guys, please can you tell me from your experience what is the most useful profession for fractals 50-100? I used to play guardian but I quite uselessly changed his gear into cavalier/knight/zerk for vale guardian (I still hope there will be more bosses that need to be tanked so i’m not going to change it) so he is quite useless in fractals now. I have 3 ascended armor boxes and I am thinking about building the full set just for fractals. But I don’t know what to pick. High level fractals need condition and not zerk…. Should I play for engi/necro/mesmer/ something else? What stat combo would you suggest? (I’m saving up black diamonds just in case).
Shatterer 2.0 = CC fest ….but I guess the whole HoT is CC fest too so it is ok.
700 gems for one freaking slot? Someone at arenanet is coocoo.
I do appreciate you have listenened to the community. However, this looks more like a punch to our faces.
However a great deal for people with permanent bank access.
I suppose gliding mastery will be available to everyone? including core and f2p accounts? if not they are going to feel excluded, not being able to follow a commander to say one example. I can imagine already, if you cant fly, get out!
couln’t care less especially about F2P
SAB or riot? Pretty pretty please?
the maps weren’t designed with gliding in mind like maguma
it will kitten it up
and anet knows this to be true
the only reason anet might add this eventually is to encourage the weirdos who didn’t buy the expac to do it because they will see gliders in the starting zones
say no to gliding in main tyria
It will be just a big improvement for me. Faster traveling, a lot of fun. I don’t care about your opinion so please don’t tell me what other people want :P

I hope I live long enough to see this happen.not this again
What do you mean? Has it come out yet or am i getting an expansion that is coming “In the near future” ? Tell me about it.
There is this topic dealing with the fact that the expansion comes with basic game every few weeks. It is a normal selling strategy. Do you want to buy GW2? Buy one box and you get it all. Anytime….. Even blizzard basically started doing the same thing by bundling every old XPack together for very cheap price.
50euro price includes at least one year of living world updates. I am totally sure about it. More info tomorrow in blogpost.
not this again
At the moment I wouldn’t consider it at all, and I will never pre purchase from them again. The fact they even mention another xpac at this point makes me ill.
Yeah I know, my first thought was “well aren’t you gonna finish hoT first?” I mean they haven’t even released 25% of the new legendaries, WvW is a mess, only 1 Stronghold map released… Not even gonna mention raids…
Creating expansion takes years. They started working on HoT right after the main game release. You know, company like ArenaNet has many teams and each works on something else. From what I have read about the balance between regular updates and expansions, I understand that we should expect new story update every 4-6 weeks and that way we can go kill another dragon in 2 years instead of 3. I think that is nice….
I think you failed. You have zero data, yet you are making a big claims.
If you really think they started working on HoT right after the main game release something must be wrong with you. The first HoT map wasn’t finished in the first betas and some dev said that quite a lot of the stuff in the HoT trailer (shown late January 2015 – 9 months before release) was mostly placeholder stuff.
It really feels like they started on the expansion about the time when they worked on LS2. So a little bit over a year dev time.
Mike O’Brien did say it somewhere. I don’t remember where, but I’m 100% sure he said it. I think it was a year ago on that big reveal event. And don’t pick my words…. They worked on Mordremoth jungle expansion/new maps and story….call it however you want.
From the beginning it was just a small team. As the time passed, they got bigger. I REMEMBER this saying this somewhere. The only thing they weren’t sure about was how to present it. In the end, they decided for classic expansion release.
You know, creating content worth of expansion is not just programming and drawing art. It takes thousands hours of discussing, brainstorming, trying and erasing.
And by the way, do you really think they didn’t figured out the expansion order before base game launch? They had 5 more dragons and I am quite sure it is already decided on all of them. Every MMO company like ArenaNet has a roadmap for many years ahead. Look at Blizzard…they decided about expansion order pretty much 10 years ago. Or was it more?
Norn males are horrible. Their very short legs and giantic torso look so unnatural. I have 9 characters, but only 1 norn – a big boobed female. Btw, did you try to create the shortest norn male possible? His height doesn’t scale down his feet, so he looks like a clown. Horrible…and weird it isn’t fixed after so many years.
Sorry for offtopic. I also agree that racial skills are heavily underpowered. They should make them on par with normal elites. Yes, and I don’t care about that blablabla about fairplay.

OP, I think you failed. You have zero data, yet you are making a big claims.
I have 53 Mastery Level and I see no reason in rushing higher. The final tiers of masteries are almost useless.
Actually, I kind of expected this since beta of HoT. Back then, you could glide in Silverwastes Obviously, there is no technical restriction in gliding in old maps. It is all just about polishing geodata so players cannot fall out of maps. Plus, it would make zero sense if we couldn’t glide in next expansion. I expect Tengu, Primordus and fighting in air.
great ideas!
my idea: Augur stone and Vision crystals of both types should have their collection tab in material storage. They are crafting materials thus they shouldn’t waste space in our inventory.
i dont play
123456
and how are we supposed to get those beverages during the year? TP? that is not the proper fix. The proper fix is changing it to 1000.
it is not about being able to get 10 000. Yes, you can farm them. But it takes so much time and everyone realizes it! IT IS CHRISTMAS! We spend our time with our families, not playing a freakin game! And if you consider how expensive those gifts are on the TP, it is plain stupid not to sell them if you are a player who need some real stuff, like ascended equipment…. This Wintersday meta achievement is just wrong. Period.
10K beverages for someone who loves playing GW2 but also loves not to spend his/her life in front of PC is just undoable. I started selling them after first 50 I so blindly consumed…. didn’t expect it will recquire as much as 10K. But then again, this is not the first or last time ArenaNet released content that they didn’t think about at all.
The person who came with 10K should feel ashamed. He/she would fly away from company in the speed of light.

Thank you. And please don’t change it back.
Maybe this is just me…
When i first heard “adventures” I thought about actual adventure. Kind of like quests, or mini dungeons or anything I could do where there would be a reason to do it, and a sense that I was playing the character I created. Learning they were mini-games, some (at least) with different skill bars… well, color me disappointed. I don’t have an issue with mini-games existing. Some folks like them. Still, not what I think of when I hear the word “adventure.”
As far as this thread, I suspect there would be less complaints about mastery points in adventures if they were actually adventures — and for mini-games, they could maybe have brought back SAB…
My imagination went to a similar place. Like I was imagining a map-wide dynamic quest, or something of that nature. Something that spanned a large physical space and involved a lot of different elements. I guess I was imagining “adventure” in the explorative sense, rather than “activity” sense.
Either way, I don’t know what they were thinking attaching them to mastery points and collections. Just comes across like no faith in the content to sell itself on its gameplay merits. I had thought that the leaderboards would be the “mmo incentive” but I guess not.
I can’t make sense of it in my head.
I was imagining them the same way you two did. A very wrong choice of words…. and I agree they should have brought back SAB instead… my infinity coin is really annoyed by this time
