See I’m in a casual raiding guild, I get maybe an hour sometimes two of play time every other day, I make it into raids since I found a guild that has a flexible play/raid schedule I didn’t start raiding till 2 weeks ago. It just perplexes me of all the QQ posts on the forums that pop up daily About requirements and such.

If it is on EU server, can you maybe invite me there?

Fix: equip druid trait line in the Build window. You can equip this traitline only in the last slot, which is in fact for future elite specializations too.

Hi Gaile,
I love the new shatterer, the launching pads, gliding and changing fractal level inside of the instance.

Bug I found: LFG tool doesn’t work well. There is some bug which prevents the advert coming up on the list. It happened in fractals. Plus annoying clicking on buying fractal keys and confirming it.

What I think devs should work on:
PvE balance is now needed. There must be a distinction between pve and PvP skill power.
Raids are something where every profession should be a nice addition to the party, but guardian is not that case, he is just a “meh” profession for now. His low damage, weaker party buff, and lack of some special functionality (like mesmer’s party wide alacrity and distortion) makes him unviable there.
Furthermore, my newly crafted tanking gear is collecting dust. I would like raid devs to think about how unfriendly their design is to main-only players. Let’s assume somebody will take me to the party out of pity and let me tank VG: we kill it (yaaaay!) and then they ask me to switch to some full dps profession…that is reality, and the worst part of it is that it seems to be by design.

I don’t know about other professions because I play only guardian since 2012, but I do honestly know that guardian in raid needs a huge buff in functionality (not just DPS). And it would be nice to have it not only in new wings, but also in the first one: so basically if we are supposed to tank VG we need to get something extra for the party, and if Gorseval and Sabetha are not in need of tank, we need to have a pure single target DPS build that is as good as warrior/revenant. But, do it only in PVE. PVE traps now lost their important functionality, as half a second of daze doesn’t help much with mobs.

IMO, if you are going to ignore raids for some time, you can play guardian no problem, he is a lot of fun. The game is in a bad state currently. It is not just revenant or guardian….we just have to wait until ArenaNet sorts things out. Lack of communication makes the waiting hard however.

I will tell you why from my perspective:
I was waiting for over a year for a new exciting content. I was thrilled about raids, new fractals, legendary armor + craftable precursors, and the new WvW map. What I got is no legendary armor, 3 bosses that have mechanics that make my guardian a worse choice to any other profession, WvW map that is mostly empty, no new fractals, just destruction of dungeons, and precursors are several hundred gold cheaper to buy off the TP instead of crafting it – example: check The Legend requirements and the prices of spiritwood.

[SPOILERS!] Ending opinions

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Mortifer.2946

Well, not much that I can add that hasn’t already been said, but I feel it’s worth saying.

The expansion price threw me off initially but finally I caved. And having reached the end of it today, I regret it. And not just because of how much I kittenING HATE DRUID, after years of waiting for the Ranger to be able to use a rifle. That story was NOT worth the fifty dollar investment.

Aside from all of the tedious grinding for masteries just to progress (not to mention the ones I now need just to talk to NPCs), the story itself just felt… rushed. It wasn’t particularly terrible, though, and it definitely had some nice moments. But a lot of our characters’ decision making was terrible, Eir died in the most pitiful way unbefitting a hero of her caliber possible, and most sickening of all was the ending itself.

Now let me give it this: the first against Mordremoth? Amazing. So much better than Zhaitan’s pitiful showing. It had great mechanics, it was a challenging battle and it really kept me on my toes the entire time. That said, here’s why it sucked anyway:

1. Mordremoth’s design. REALLY? He looked like a fat mordrem troll. I wasn’t expecting to fight Mordremoth’s main body – in fact, I’m quite happy with how we faced him down because it made sense – but I was still hoping to fight a DRAGON, you know? Like the Shadow of the Dragon, for instance. That was an outstanding fight that kept things interesting AND had a great boss design.

2. Did we REALLY leave Taimi alone and defenseless in the middle of a DEAD CITY? Yes, we killed all the Chak. What’s to stop Mordrem from coming in there and ripping the crippled child limb from limb now? I would be okay with it if she still had Scruffy, or any way to defend herself whatsoever… BUT SHE DIDN’T.

3. Multiplayer. kittenING. MULTIPLAYER. I would like to be less angry about this, BUT I kittenING CAN’T. I did this once solo, and then later helped a friend do it. And when we did this final battle together, holy kitten. The exit instance thing available during quests was CONSTANTLY in the way. During the battle with Mordremoth, it was in the DEAD CENTER of everything. Every four seconds I had to click “no I don’t want to leave.” because that pop up flew up. Then it was centered on the reality rift during the final phase of the battle, which actually GLITCHED THE BATTLE somehow. We had to manually break Mordremoth’s stun bar because despite killing all of his minions and activating the rift. he didn’t get stunned and the rift became inoperable. FINALLY, we win, and the exit is located RIGHT ON THE SPOT YOU NEED TO STAND ON TO TALK TO TREHEARNE. ARE YOU KIDDING ME WHO DESIGNED THAT?

4. Finally, the epilogue. Mordremoth is dead, it’s a well-fought victory. There have been countless, tragic losses but they paved the path to victory and – what, that’s it? It’s just over? We kill Trehearne, there’s a little cut scene where we see some ley line energy flow away and… that’s it. There’s no celebration, no triumphant return, not even a wrap up conversation (yes, you can go up that spine bridge and have some dull uninteresting dialogue with your companions but that’s not what anyone wanted… AND FAOLAIN’S CORPSE IS STILL THERE.)

One of the greatest things about Guild Wars 1 was that after you beat the main story, there was always this sense of grand accomplishment. You would see all of your surviving friends and allies, there were grand rewards, even a Phoenix for Rangers to tame in Factions. You got your victory walk. You were a hero, and you knew it. And everyone knew it. You saved the world from the Lich-controlled Titans, you brought end to a centuries old conflict of rivaled factions and defeated the evil spirit threatening all peace, hell, you KILLED A GOD. And you felt the grand reward of it in each of those occasions.

What’d we get this time? A single piece of armor that costs us a transmutation charge if we want to use it, a greatsword that somehow became a standard sword skin (and, incidentally, let me stop that there – THE BEST REWARD IS A SWORD!? Some classes can’t even USE that! Go back to giving players a token to choose their heroic reward like you did in GW1! SO THAT THEY CAN ACTUALLY USE THEM) and some crappy, run of the mill loot.

In short, I’m SEVERELY disappointed in Heart of Thorns. I had high expectations for it, remembering how great every expansion in GW1 had been, but Heart of Thorns just leaves something to be desired. A lot of things to be desired, really.

Edit: Oh yeah, forgot a few things. What was Caithe doing with the egg all that time? Never addressed. The Mordremoth boss fight environment was bland, pale, uninteresting and most unforgivably of all, had a ton of death falls for no apparent reason. How did Mordremoth know about Tybalt Leftpaw (or your Order person of choice)? He died to Zhaitan.

I agree with everything said here. ArenaNet, please learn from these mistakes and make next expansion better The story doesn’t need to be longer, but it should have a closure, a conclusion. When you write a novel, there is always a final chapter that makes the end of the story satisfying. You had climax and a sneak peak to the future – the short cinematic, but forgot about the epilogue.

Thanks for destroying the revenants

Mortifer.2946

EDIT: oh, 3 years old post? haha, somebody is a mighty strong necro …lol
———————————————————————————————————————————————————
You didn’t pay attention when they teased about the future content, did you?
Citation:
“Within the golden city of Tarir, the last known dragon egg rests protected by the Exalted—but the egg begins to crack. What creature lies within the egg? An enemy or an ally? In other corners of Tyria, the remaining powerful elder dragons continue to expand their control—but what impact will the death of the two of the elder dragons have on them and on Tyria itself?”
Source: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/state-of-the-game-update-q1-2016/

Basically, to understand the situation:
1. elder dragons are natural source of regulating the magic in Tyria. If there are no dragon at all, the magic can crack the world or something.

2. as there is only 4 dragons left, and the portion of magic that was being consumed by the 2 dead dragons is now back in the leylines, 4 remaining dragons have a lot more food. Thus, the more dragons we kill, the stronger the remaining ones will become. Maybe we will have to kill more of them at once.

3. dragons are sentient being and they see that they are being threatened by us. They will become more aggressive, an MAYBE they will start to cooperate.

4. the dragon egg will for sure be our ally, and it will be the only way how to resume the normal flow of magic. I think we will have to breed new dragons and teach them friendship and coexistence….basically the stuff that can’t be achieved…ever….but okay.

5. Once we kill of Primordus and Jormag, and therefore unlock many more areas on the world map, we will move down to that Elonian desert with crystally-dragon. Afterwards we will get some news about Catha and the fact that Bubbles is locking them out from any contact with continent and that we have to save them. When that will be done, GW2 content can finally shift to something interesting like breaking up of the 5-race alliance, fighting Gods, or whatever.

So I just learnt that 1 mesmer can stack 6-7 second of invulnerability to his party, which means there are people who killed Vale guardian in 5 people (herald, zerk, druid, tempest, chrono). Guardian could never get even close to such functionality. Is this fair? No it’s not.
I agree we need some trait line that will completely rework our Aegis and we need little bit higher damage. Chrono should get buffed DPS and nerfed this Distortion buff along with that horrible invention called Alacrity.
Also, guardian should get better burning – not spike, but sustained, so it is almost as good as berseker. And once arenanet releases some specialisation that is focused on spirit weapons+burning, we should be able to do as much burning as berseker.

I’m fed up with other professions stealing our profession mechanics and doing it better than us.

Can somebody please explain to me how that distortion works? I checked mesmer and I see there is a trait which shares it for 1 second with the party, but how is it possible that I see it on the warrior for like 7 seconds?

edit: And of course, congratulations! It was amazing to watch it.

Well of Precognition gives 3 seconds of distortion (+1 extra second to allies with inspiring distortion trait). Then you give everyone 1 second of distortion when using a signet (blurred inscriptions + inspiring distortion). Then you have F4 for another aoe distortion…
But this is probably going to end with the incoming patch :p

Oh, that’s cool! Well, I’m sorry if mesmer is being affected as it can kill his tanking ability, however as guardian, I would loved to have improved skills that are similar to this. Why don’t we have invulnerability for party members? It’s not really fair. I say, one of the trait lines should be totally reworked to improve aegis so it works more like that distortion skill.

What do you think about client-side gliding? I think the negative implications might be worse than ArenaNet realizes.
1. you won’t die from gliding but other players see you hopping around even more. This will be totally destroying the feeling from the game. And even if WvW team would some day want to implement gliding, it is impossible…It will create so much lag, nobody would be able to aim those bombs on ground targets.
2. the fact that we can’t start gliding mid jump from bouncy mushrooms totally wrecked my happiness about the update. I literally use that gliding from mushrooms all the time. What about some adventures like bugs in branches and floor is lava? There you have to glide mid-jump. It will completely ruin the flow and dynamicity of running-jumping-gliding. Landings from mushrooms are clunky as hell and gliding mid jump fixed that for me.

By clunky do you mean the mushrooms dropping you somewhere midair instead of the intended location?

It doesn’t happen on empty maps with good ping and FPS. But there are extra long jumps which sometimes, when you land, make you do 2-3 rolls on the ground and keep you locked on spot for a second or two before it let you go. I don’t know…it happens to me in Verdant Brink sometimes, when lots of people are around.

Lower sell price on TP = Good profit? No.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mortifer.2946

Mortifer.2946

What I recently noticed happening on TP is this:
I want to buy some material, let’s say linen scrap. I open TP and click buy order 1 copper higher than the previous buy order listing. But’s that? – Even though all sellers offer it for much higher price, there alway ONE guy selling ONE piece of that scrap for exactly ONE copper higher that the top buy order. If I want to buy multiple of those scraps, TP for that price of 1 copper higher, TP will always automatically redirect me into instant buy list because of that ONE piece, which I get for that price and then I can actually just buy the mor expensive ones in the insta tab.

It has these implications:
1. somebody is trying to exploit, rob people by enforcing them to misclick on insta buy instead of buy order
2. those who don’t get fooled are blocked from clicking a buy order, unless they remove that 1 piece from insta buy list

I consider this a semi-serious flaw to the TP system. And I consider these people biggest kittens ever.

Something needs to be changed, and it is ArenaNet’s job to figure it out. I didn’t pay 50€ for dragonhunter and raids just to find out I cannot go there with him.

AKA: ALL new specialisations should have a role in raids.

We’ve cleared the Raid with a DH every week for weeks now, its really not that big a deal.

I know, but the problem is, I’m not a part of any community in GW2. I am in guilds but I didn’t create real gaming friendships. Thus, even when I meet some new people willing to take me to raid with them, it is completely understandable that they don’t want to take in guardian, because they can take burnzerker and chrono can tank instead. Just because they don’t feel like lowering party’s DPS just to accommodate some stranger. But I agree, there are people who don’t mind guardian. It is just sad to see all the negativity in Pugs/ semi-pug parties.

So…join a guild. I mean there’s no point complaining if your only obstacle is yourself.

For me, it’s less like find a guild and more like: find time to play and befriend those people and become a part of their community. I know… with the current class balance and poor LFG tools, it is the only way. – That’s why I’m waiting until I finish all my exams

I’m legitimately confused. I thought Guardian was the Go-To tank for Raids? I am trying to gear up one of my characters for tanking and thought Guardian would be the most secure. What is going on?

Guardian would be a good go-to if there was enough damage that tanks had to go somewhat potato. Even then people would probably prefer scrapper. Thing is there isn’t much focused damage on the tank, so the best go-to is something that already has comparatively bad dps but something vitally important to a raid group. See: alacrity-stacking chronomancer.

I see problem with GW2 that it breaks classic RPG model of professions. It doesn’t make any sense, nor it is fun to play a game where this formula doesn’t work: heavy armor freaking tank should be taunting the boss while glass DPS tries to look innocent and shoot big freaking fireballs at the boss and support running around like a madman giving boons and heals and cure diseases. However, what we have is, tanks a laughing stock. Every poor fellow can tank the boss in a cloth rag and a walking stick.

What I would do, and I really do it is the best thing possible: I would make a custom balance/restrictions in raids. So the support or DPS cannot reliably tank a boss. You don’t have a heavy armor? Forget being a tank. You deal crazy amount of support and heal?-forget tanking again. You hit big criticals? – Be prepared to die in 2 seconds if the boss actually looks at you. And some conditions have to be capped. It is ludicrous that some class can do 12 000 burning damage per second.

Wrong game.

Not a wrong game. There are some genre rules that should never be broken!!!!

If there is someone who can draw nicely, I suggest making a meme picture:
Guardian with a big freaking shield and mace and hammer on his back is standing in front of Spirit Vale and looking at his pocket watch while other figure comes. Tiny little barbie girl in piece of soft clothing that reveals more than hides with broken wall clock in her right hand an tiny rapier in left hand. And she is looking at the tank with a smirk and says: “Heavily armoured guy who was trained to protect comrades and deflect damage? Pffff, go home, we don’t need you. See? I have a shield too.”

Sad reality of Guild Wars 2.
After trying VG for several hours 2 moths ago, I decided to craft full ascended equip to be the best prepared possible. I spent hundreds of gold on an ascended hammer, mace and shield that I would never normally have use for (because everything is DPS oriented and because exotic quality was more than enough until now), I reforged my beloved armor into knight/marauder, and spent a lot of badges of honor for those +5 power WvW infusions.

Then I started looking into how people are managing raids now, hoping that they finally learnt little gimmicks and positioning and finished their gearing up too so I could finally beat that glowy geezer without hearing it is my fault if I fail 1 attempt out of 10 while the rest of them are failed by DPS.
So yeah, I hear people got better, but on my horror, I found out some crappy mesmer took my only role in that freaking raid. I knew I wouldn’t be much welcomed on the second or the third boss, but VG was my domain. I’m the freaking tank. I was waiting for this opportunity since GW2 beta where they presented guardian with a big shield and mace and said he is a vital part of any party. If I look back, I can see the sad irony.

You legit can nerf every single class for PvE for around 20%-30% of their total DPS and you could still complete the raid just fine. The fact that people can’t is simply a L2P issue. Like it has been said earlier, there’s been instances of people soloing raid bosses already. Balancing around PvE is idiotic.

That said, if the devs decide to split up WvW, PvE and PvP balancing, that would be a good day, but until then, balance based on PvP only.

It is not about overall DPS, we are not asking for DPS, we are asking for balance so all professions are viable there. Current situation is, if you are not burnzerker warrior/DPS herald/fresh air tempest/alacrity chronomancer/heal druid you are not welcomed in a raid party.

There are raids now. PVE balance is a very important factor. And arenanet developers SHOULD keep it in mind.
