Rangers have a decent attachment to condis via the shortbow and sword/dagger combo. You have range and up close and personal combat. I would also recommend warrior, too, as they have access to condis and up close combat.

Hi there. I was just gifted a refractor from a friend, and I wanted to find an account bound trinket to set it on. I already tried setting it to a back piece, and that didn’t work. Can the kind players here help me out?

I believe you’re referring to the Silverwastes JP? If not I have no idea which one. But in any case, the checkpoints are there for a reason.

Hello. I’m getting a weird connection error when trying to load into my maps. My wife can log in just fine on her account, and we’re using the same laptop and internet connection. Is there a fix for this?

EDIT 1: It seems restarting the client fixed it for me. But just to be safe I’ll leave it here.

If it’s not been suggested already, create a guild with only you in it and gain enough currency to get a Guild Bank. I did that a while back and found it extremely useful for storage.

Hello. I love tonics. So much in fact that I’m on a quest to, how you say, ‘catch ’em all’. And previously, I never used my quaggan tonics for anything other than screenshots. But now, after the update, the quaggan tonics can now jump!

So, thank you, ArenaNet, for that small QoL addition.

Is there any fix you would want Anet to implment? What and why?

The main reason people seem to be using this word so much is they feel like it is a terrific insult for this subject. That’s my conclusion since the word is usually being used in an incorrect way. “You are entitled” is just a fancier way to say “You are stupid.” Means the same thing more or less in this instance.

I wouldn’t be so quick to judge the people using the word. Some might be ignorant of its meaning, or they probably thought it spiced up their sentences a bit. Food for thought, not saying you’re wrong.

OT: Those throwing the word around should hold those trigger fingers just as everyone else should, I agree. But if you’ve been around the internet and gaming for anything longer than a few months you’ll know that it’ll all die down in a few days/weeks. Memes get old fast, and while they hold nostalgia for some of us (Nyan Cat, Chuck Testa, etc.) they quickly lose relevance with the current generation of internet users.

There’s only a small percentage that visit the forums so the issue isn’t as known as you might think in the game. People fall for it on a regular basis (hence why they still do it). Kind of makes me wish the forums were a bigger part of the game.

The fact is that no matter how you slice if I’m paying for a product I already own, no matter if it’s a free version of the current product or not. I already own Guild Wars 2 as a base, I don’t want to pay for another, even if it is bundled with an expansion pack. An upgrade option with Heart of Thorns only is what I’m asking for.

I can’t speak for the majority of RPers, but I’m always out and about incorporating roleplay into whatever I do, be it exploring, dungeons, etc. There’s also a pretty size-able community based on RPing in the game over at Guild Wars 2 Roleplayers. Lots of public events are always scheduled, and there are tons of RP requests and RP guild recruitments there. Check it out if you’re ever wanting to try it out.

I’ll just do this with a non-alcoholic drink. My liver loves me and I love it, and I’d rather it see the new update than the inside of a hospital room.

I wouldn’t say new JPs, but maybe they’ll change the two in LA around a bit to fit the coming update. Maybe some karka invaded the sewers, or maybe some Consortium workers curiously wandered into the caves near the waterfalls?

We all have our opinions, and that’s just my take on it. Yours is obviously different, as I can see, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I feel accomplished when I reach any goal I set, regardless of the journey to the end. Heck, I waited for laurels to get the powerful blood I needed to get the Book of Secrets skin (took me about two months of waiting around) and it felt great to finally have it, and I still use it.

Just enjoy the game the way you want, and everyone else will do the same. Also, if you have any ideas on how to improve rewards and how to get them, suggest away! I’m always happy to contribute

Anet is trying to get large guilds to do parties in Lion’s Arch on the day of the design reveal, know why? cause they’re going to slaughter us all again with karka swarms. If you did not see this coming then you completely missed all of the clues.
1. Anet pimps new changes to LA and says rebuild is almost done! yay!
2. Notice the Consortium is building LA – why? Gnashblade owns the Black Lion Trading Post, if the Consortium was truly a powerhouse we’d also have the Consortium Trading Post with which to do our trading.
3. Anet asks guilds to publicly announce party plans for the unveiling (suspicious!!)
4. Players discover karkas hiding in the platforms coming from Southsun Cove.
5. We can safely assume there will be fireworks and all kinds of noisy raucus activities with which to get our /dance on.

We’re all going to die and have to fight and rebuild again… Anet is why we can’t have nice things!!!!

I’ll be in the rafters or somewhere above it all laughing as they die, then. I saw this coming the moment I found out the Consortium were involved at all. I might lay down a few fire traps to help out, though. Fried Karka is said to be a delicacy in some parts.

And again, you don’t need to play with the changes to know that they’ll result in a net reduction of skill required to play the game at its higher levels.

Regardless. Play around with the new changes and adapt accordingly. We’ve done this several times already, and people got used to it. It’s how the game works: the meta flows and changes come, regardless if we want them or not.

Breached wall is a bit long, but it’s also pretty tame.

Compared to things like Griffonrook Run, Scavenger Hunt and many other difficult ones yes, Breached Wall is very tame. Also, finding a mesmer friend or a guild to help out would greatly improve your thinking on jumping puzzles.

As much as I dislike jps, I refuse to use mesmer portals. I used it one time for not so secret, mainly to get the diving master achievement. I prefer to earn things myself. It’s why I feel like I cheated myself a bit for buying some items with gold to make my mawdrey instead of making everything myself since I didn’t feel like grinding out the geodes and waiting to craft the things I needed with the daily cds.

One day I was bored and wanted the poi for the sand dune caverns underneath silverwastes. I think I almost did that jp with no guide on my own. Sadly, I got to a point that I couldn’t figure out how to proceed and I ended up giving up, but I got the poi and 3 chests. So while it was frustrating, it was more rewarding than getting a mesmer portal.

I’ve only used a Mesmer portal on a single JP (Not So Secret) to get up about halfway. The rest I’ve finished on my own, with the only one I used a guide on being Scavenger’s Chasm. But there’s no shame in farming for gold to get what you want, ’cause you still earned that gold.

Yeah, as others have said it’s baby karka. Looks like the Consortium are up to their old tricks.

If you ask me they should revert it back to where you could queue up while in PvE so you could at least gather or fight a world boss while you wait. It would certainly make the lobby less populated, but it would alleviate some of the complaints of having nothing to do while waiting.

EDIT: This is assuming that this was the way it used to be, this is only hearsay from friends.

I don’t think it will be a full on feature pack (I’ve been wrong before, so take that with a grain of salt), but a regular update. Who knows, though, the content seems to be coming all at once, so it might just be one. Can’t wait for the Condi changes and Core specs, I can already see myself getting back into the game.

So THAT’S why the character models are all appearing standard for so long after a zone-in, the kitten streaming client is loading them all so slowly. Is there a way to disable this or something?

So this thread is about content we can come up with ourselves rather than old content being re-used? Also, just want to point out that asking for no SAB comments is like asking a dog not to bark at a cat.

For me it’d be pretty cool if adventures came out for the old world before HoT. It’d give me something to do while waiting other than the stuff I’ve already done, plus more incentive to log in.

Yeah, it’s a bug all right. I remember hearing this noise back in LA (people in DR map chat confirmed this, too) before an after the update. It seems something was mixed up.

Possibly a bug where the mechanical orchestra has a larger radius and overlaps itself? I’ll have a listen myself to see if it’s any different.

Pretty much this. It’s not spent on anything as a currency, it’s used to craft items, therefore it should stay the way it is. It’s only your fault that you hoard said dust without refining them/going after Mawdrey. For me, I destroy any extra dust/emp/dragonite I get, ’cause I get butt loads of them from any activity I decide to do.

My favorite in terms of aesthetics and looks is hands down Metrica Province. Lots of mixing of jungle flora and fauna along with beautiful geometric buildings and designs that all flow very well together.

In terms of mechanics it’s a tie between Silverwastes and Dry Top. While I love Dry Top’s favor mechanic, I just find the map a pain to traverse when I’m just there to have fun; for Silverwastes I’m not a fan of the constant same-y events, but the map is structured beautifully in favor of said events, so I’m down with that.

I’d like to see a map that combines Dry Top and Silverwastes with the design and mechanics.

Coming from FFXIV I do note that added extra instances can put strange pressures on a gaming company. Added lag. Sometimes to the point where the game will not run. Something about it costing more for the gaming company to have extra instances. The mechanics of an mmo aren’t run on magic like most gamers seem to think.

If you think about it Guild Wars 2 is full of mini instances. Gathering nodes, dungeons, fractals, PvP maps, Personal Story, Living World, etc. are all instances of some kind. And I don’t think any game’s mechanics run on magic, I have common sense (at least I think I do).

OT: Guild halls are on their way with Heart of Thorns. There isn’t much info on them just yet but if you ask me they’ll tell us a bit about them before they launch the expac.

To me endgame is what I currently feel like doing when I log in on a max level/skill capped character. Some days I want to work on map completion with my alt 80 ranger, others I’ll want to work on an achievement or title on my guardian, etc. Then there’s the few days that I don’t want to do anything but run around and act goofy in LA or something.

Great idea, I can’t believe I haven’t thought of this myself. It would certainly help with farming and salvaging. Also, what Riku said…

Hi there. I’ve been playing for almost an entire year (guardian’s birthday is very soon!) and I’ve only been to WvWvW for one thing since I started: jumping puzzles. Every time I’d zone in to attempt OS/SS/ES/RS I’d see zergs and roamers from every side running about doing things I didn’t care about and I’d just hightail it to the puzzle. But a small part of me felt guilty for taking up that slot just to do a JP. So now I’ve decided to actually contribute and try WvWvW for a change.

I’ve read the sticky in the WvW forum (very helpful, +1!) but I’m sure there are finer tips to be had. I know a bit about tiers and matchups and things, so that’s no big deal. What I’m after are a couple of answers to these questions:

• Is Teamspeak/Vent/Mumble recommended/required for WvW?
• Is it wise to run in my PvE gear in WvW? I don’t have much gold to spare for a new set of armor/trinkets at the moment, so I’d have to farm a bit (all exotics, ascended back piece).
• Where does WvW stand rewards-wise (loot, achievements, titles, skins, etc.)
• Would I have to invest long stretches of time to the game mode to achieve anything, or to have any sort of fun? There are days where I have little time to play, and with college coming up after summer…
• Lastly, I hear a lot about transferring servers to get ‘better fights/more wins’. What’s the deal with this?

It’s the mentality you have to prepare yourself for when you get into any online competition, whether it be GW2 PvP, League of Legends matches, CS:GO tournaments and even Smash Bros. tournies. The best you can do is to block the people who do such things and report the ones who deserve it, and go on with your day.
