Does anyone know the cap or is there only a cap on the dailies? I have completed several achievements and done my dailies some days.
There’s only a cap on the dailies, nothing else. You can gain as many achievement points as you want at any given time so long as you have the skill and time to do so.
Honestly I could see an account-wide system working in their favor if they made it more attractive. People would be more inclined to purchase the bag slots rather than avoiding them if this were the case, but in the long run (in my opinion) they would lose out on some gem purchases because of it.
I’ve just learned to manage my inventory and live with what I’ve got. 20 slot bags are easy to come by via Trick or Treat bags/Candy Corn nodes, and the account-wide bank slots work wonders as well. Not to mention creating a personal banking guild with a storage helps with everything that’s not account bound (food items, runes, sigils, etc.).
From what I can tell it’ll function as a normal PC video game controller (much like a 360 pad), so you could use it in the same way you use a PS3 or 360 pad to play GW2. I worked out a way to do just that with my 360 wired pad using Xpadder, and it’s great fun playing with it while casual map completing.
You don’t get anything for completing every single daily task as far as I’m aware. You get the 10 AP from completing the first three, and then the bonus chest from each one afterward.
I’d like a toggle for it. As I said, I like the look of it and it doesn’t ruin anything in my mind. But for those who dislike the way it looks and its function, there should be a toggle.
I love jumping puzzles, so much so that I completed them all and still do them if they’re in my path to an objective. I understand that they’re not for everyone, though, especially those (like me) who have hardware issues at the worst of times. Hopefully they’ll alleviate this in the future by changing some of the vistas around to require less jumping for those who don’t enjoy that feature.
Apologies then. The information I got was from a post here on the HoT forums a month or so ago when it was still new info. At least it’s nice that they’re doing it!
I’d say let Guardians keep the Aegis animation and model, but turn it off for other classes? It’s the only happy medium I can come up with right now in my tired state.
The people who are upset are so because they can’t take pretty screenshots without their aegis animation.
I suppose it all comes down to opinion then. Personally I never thought Aegis got in the way of any screenies I took, but it’s obvious a few players here dislike it. At the end of the day, though, you have to ask yourself if it’s really as big an issue as you make it out to be.
They certainly are part of some lore, with some races mounting creatures at some point (like the new Hylek race being introduced in HoT). I wouldn’t mind getting more of those cosmetic mounts in the gem store someday (like the broom and carpet) with some racial themes.
So what is this topic about exactly? Guild Wars 2’s population or people’s opinions on World of Warcraft? You sort of changed your train of thought toward the middle of your post.
In Southsun Survival the immobilization starts with a long delay, after each round you can move around and pick up items and then you can kill your foes while they can’t do anything. It has been bugged like this for ages.
In Sanctum Sprint, the algorithm that helps players who join late is almost always broken. Sometimes it might teleport a late player one checkpoint before the end making the whole race thing pointless
In Crab Toss there is an insane amount of graphics lag and it has been like this it was released. For such a small “arena” the amount of lag and the lower FPS is unacceptable. Also, they still reward only the last player which makes the entire thing annoying when 12 players fight. Lastly, there is tons of griefing with the fishing pole, even though they could stop it easily by making it disappear after a set amount of time
There is always a contest in Keg Brawl between those who want to play legit and those who want to farm the achievements. Arguments, insults and toxicity are always common when you make content on which players have conflicting goals, similar to how players want to complete some events while others want them to fail in order to farm. It’s always bad to have conflicting objectives in a cooperative game and Keg Brawl is a prime example
Lol you are funny.
- Southsun: This is a really rare bug and it is usually very funny if really someone didn’t get immobilized. Anyway it happens around 1/1000 games, so I don’t see the whole thing “bugged”
- Sanctum: That’s intended. It happens only after 3-5 already finished and to put new people near the end so they can finish in time until the map resets. Only negative thing would be that someone new could be 6th instead of someone running all the way, but who cares about these places. The people there are way to slow anyway.
- Crab Toss: No lag or graphics bug at all. If your internet connection sucks and you have lags in gw2 then you might have problems there. I never had any lag there so this problem happens only for a small amount of people
- Keg Brawl: What? I had more then 200 matches, never ever anyone wrote/complained about doing only achievements. No toxity seen there too.Actually I think daily activity is one of the most important daily’s, because especially new player wouldn’t even now of activitys without it. Anet should put acitivitys more in player focus (like an arena on any pve map to gather people). Of course I agree that the reward for activity daily should be increased (at least doubled or a guaranteed yellow item).
I can attest to your final statement about putting activities in more player’s eyes. I never even knew Southsun Survival or Crab Toss was a thing until the dailies showed them today, and I played my first three matches of Southsun Survival and loved every second of it. They really should put in a few more activities, they’re good fun when you’re bored of farming.
The only issue I have is that they’re on a rotation now. I’ve been wanting to play Sanctum Spring for a while but the activity guy is always on Crab Toss or Southsun Survival from what I always see when I go to LA. If there’s a way to play these outside of the rotation I’m all ears!
Having them as a daily, though, is a good thing in my opinion. It’s showing players a new part of the game and rewarding them for trying it out. If they don’t like it, then there’s always the list of other dailies to do (which, let’s be frank here, don’t take long at all to finish).
I’d say let Guardians keep the Aegis animation and model, but turn it off for other classes? It’s the only happy medium I can come up with right now in my tired state.
Hi there. I’m unsure if this has been suggested before, and if it has, please merge with the existing topic.
I propose the addition of a vendor where a player can convert their existing excess skill points to an item of their choosing when the change occurs to Hero Points. Possible converted items could be:
These would obviously be scaled depending on how many Skill Points they would cost. You could also consider giving the vendor some of Miyani’s current stock as well so players could purchase those.
If you have any suggestions to add, please do so. Also I apologize if the suggestion isn’t warranted. The last I heard about Hero Points was that they were going to be converted into random Mystic Forge materials.
Yes and after 10 they will try some subscription BS. That’s going to go over like a lead balloon for the consumer. Brings the whole concept of the Micro$oft tax to it’s final evolutionary form.
That’s the biggest nonsense supposition I’ve seen in years.
From your links:
- “We’re always working on W10”. This means there won’t be major updates like Vista over XP, and it will be based more on small tweaks and improvements, like for example what Google does with Chrome.- “Once a qualified Windows device is upgraded to Windows 10, we will continue to keep it up to date for the supported lifetime of the device, keeping it more secure, and introducing new features and functionality over time – for no additional charge.” No additional charge, no additional charge, no additional charge… Did I said no additional charge?
- “We aren’t speaking to future branding at this time, but customers can be confident Windows 10 will remain up-to-date and power a variety of devices from PCs to phones to Surface Hub to HoloLens and Xbox. We look forward to a long future of Windows innovations.” If a normal Windows version lasts for about 3 years, here we can be talking to have Windows 10 for a decade or even more.
And MS has said both Pro and Enterprise will be able to defer updates, while Home licenses will update automatically and without the option to disable them. It doesn’t make sense to implement a subscription system when a huge part of the licences will have automatically updates.
The funny thing is all links you provide are talking about a subscription-based update system said in The Verge, but when you read the article in The Verge, there’s nothing about that, so everything about this nonsense are words from journalists…
PD: Tomorrow I will post screenshots of gw2 running in W10 technical preview.
Please do post the screenshots. If it’s not too much trouble, perhaps a video? I don’t want to upgrade only to find out that my most played game doesn’t work. That would be a sad duckie day indeed.
The thing about getting bored in a game is that it will, without fail, happen eventually. There are a few ways to combat this (most of which being leaving the game) but there are a few things you can do to get your guild interested in playing. This is just a rough list that I’ve come up with on the fly, so I apologize if nothing interests you.
Just some ideas I scraped off the top of my head. I know they’re out there, but I always did these kinds of things with my guild in WoW when times between Xpacs and patches were a bit long. I always had fun doing those, so maybe they will work for you and your guild? Good luck!
In real USD I’ve spent around $30.00. Bought $10 worth of gems for the previous set of Wings then another $20 recently to get my wife the Noble Count outfit and the Magitech skin set for me.
In gold, I’ve converted roughly 1,000 gems worth of gold to get the Arcane Outfit and the Broomstick cosmetic mount.
In the end, if you’re not doing high level, competitive play … play what you enjoy.
Just don’t get mad if someone else doesn’t like it.
Just as you’re not obligated to play the way someone else wants you to …
… others are not obligated to play with sub-optimal partners. So as long as your and those you play with understand and agree, just have fun with it. Sometimes I’m in a mood where I don’t care what you’re running. Other times I want to get the fractal/dungeon done and move on … and then I care.
Communication is key
Axe isn’t too bad if your group isn’t stacking Might as you can benefit from that. It’s horrible single-target though.
That’s what I was wanting to go for with Axe mainhand. Constant roaming AoE damage with selfish might stacking in conjuction with Jungle Stalker and boon sharing with my pet. It sounds like an awesome farming build, too, for tagging.
I do understand the communication, too. I always tell the PUG what build I’m using before we start. I haven’t been kicked a single time since, even with my poor sigil choices and my awkward build.
(edited by MrWubzy.3587)
I assume you mean open world? Just screw around and find the most fun build. Nothing matters. Open world is a good place to screw around with beast mastery like you mentioned. Master’s bond is probably the closest you can get to utilizing your pet as much as your LB, unless you artificially turn down your damage. Usually you wreck things before your pet can even attack as I’m sure you’ve noticed.
For dungeons, it sounds like you know enough about the game to be aware of the frost spotter build, with s/a?
Yeah, I run Spotter and FS as much as I can in dungeons or instanced group stuff. I figured the upped precision and damage respectively would help the group much more than my DPS or pet skills. That’s not factoring in any other spirits I tend to use at times for difficult encounters, like Earth Spirit.
@Sebrent: I kind of knew that they’d be horrible choices from the start, but I just love the weapons so much more than GS. While my GS helps greatly when fights get in my face, I never really liked how it functioned. Built in evade is a lifesaver, I’ll admit, as is the block and daze (one of the only weapons I ever found turning AA off actually HELPED). It’s just the look and feel of how my ranger swings it and utilizes it that doesn’t sit well with me.
In terms of builds, Metabattle has helped some. It’s the usual FS/Spotter and the like for groups, and Read the Wind and all that jazz for roaming. I’m still learning how ranger works in its more complicated areas so my sigil choices were poor now that I realize it. No synergy with my armor stats or build, now that I think on it.
For future games that support Dx12 is one reason. Not one for this game, unless there is a major surprised with the expansion.
Yes and after 10 they will try some subscription BS. That’s going to go over like a lead balloon for the consumer. Brings the whole concept of the Micro$oft tax to it’s final evolutionary form.
Could you provide a link from MS that they are moving to a subscription model?
I believe that it is an unsubstantiated rumor being circulated.
I’d like to see this too. If it’s true I’m staying with Win 7.
I opted for the free upgrade myself. If we don’t hear anything official from the Devs by the time the update is live, I can easily opt out of the free upgrade and stay where I am. Hoping a dev can shed some light on this.
Ah, I didn’t see that. Just woke up, kind of groggy. Cheers!
I dinged 80 on my ranger a few days ago (after her sitting in my roster for about three months) and I’ve already made it my second main outside of my guardian. I’ve had little to no trouble learning the ins and outs of the profession; how to utilize my pets effectively, what pets to choose (per situation), which utilities to bring (to the right situations) and what weapons I enjoy using. I do, however, have a few questions that I hope the answers to can give me a bit of a leg up.
Before I ask my questions, here’s my setup:
Full Zerk Exotic gear (all armor, trinkets and weapons are Zerk)
6/6 Superior Rune of the Warrior
Longbow/Greatsword
LB Sigils: Sup. Sigil of Accuracy, Sup. Sigil of Frailty
GS Sigils: Sup. Sigil of Accuracy, Sup. Sigil of Purity
I chose Accuracy to give my Zerk gear a leg up in the crit department, while Frailty on the LB helps me proc even more vuln stacks when using LB 2. Purity on the GS for when I get slapped with random condis in close quarters and my Healing Spring is on CD. I usually stick with a feline pet (Jungle Stalker) and a spider (Jungle Spider) but I do swap if the situation calls for it.
Sorry about the semi-wall of text, but here’s my couple of questions:
1. Would it be wise to use LB in conjunction with Axe/X or Shortbow? I really enjoyed the SB’s conditions and the Axe has great AoE potential at range (the self might stacks don’t hurt either).
2. Should I consider a gear change? I’ve read a couple of threads (namely the stickies) and I saw Knight’s and Soldier’s mentioned twice in the OPs there, and nothing about Zerk. Is there any advantage I would have if I switched to Knight or Soldier?
3. Rune and Sigil suggestions? I found that my Sigils help a bit, but not as much as my sigils on, say, my Guardian or Engineer help. I feel I may have chosen the wrong ones.
Lastly, 4. I love using my pets, but I also love using my bow. Is there any build that utilizes both effectively? I particularly enjoy Eagle Eye and Read the Wind for my Longbow, but I also want to use my Pet a lot more.
I’m open to suggestions. I want to be the best ranger I can be, I love this profession!
I just received the notice to reserve my upgrade to Windows 10 and, of course, I opted to reserve it, as I had plenty of time to opt out (release is July 29th). But it got me to thinking, would GW2 work properly with it?
The idea of farming that event chain and its few champs for bags seems pretty pathetic, if you ask me. Sure, the event resets reasonably quickly on failure, but farming SW offers a much better return on one’s time.
I thought about this, but they may want the specific type of champ bag risen drop. Certain Exotic Hunter weapons only drop from certain champ bags. That’s why Arthropoda is very expensive but Bonetti’s Rapier is one of the cheapest exotics (bandit coin purses from SW).
Maybe. That would not change my opinion. Imo, farming a specific drop in this game is largely a fool’s errand.
This is especially true when you consider the fact that you get a chance at anything within the same loot table (in regards to precursors, you get a chance at any other exotic; same goes for certain trinkets, skins, etc.). Of course it doesn’t defeat the want of that one specific item, but it’s much better to farm for a large variety of items at once rather than one single item in my opinion.
On topic: Block and move on. If they’re actively blocking progress a report would be in order, but please consider that if you falsely report someone or abuse the system, your account will be actioned.
From what I’ve seen of the Rev, I’ve got my heart almost set on Rabid or Rampager to test out a potential condi build/hybrid build. Of course there’s no way to tell just yet, but that’s what I’ve gathered thus far.
I would say farming Silverwastes events and chests is the absolute best way to get Obsidian Shards in my experience. You get a chance for shards from the chests along with some Bandit Crests which you can trade in for shards. Not to mention you get crests, keys and shovels from the events, which directly contribute to the shard farm. The best part is the bonus of all those exotic bags you’ll open for the chance at some rare items, and the Bags of Equipment (green) that you can salvage for silks and luck.
You can certainly play a good chunk of the game without jumping. There are few maps that require jumping to progress (Dry Top being the most notorious), with the majority of maps only requiring jumps for some vistas. Also, Tim has a great solution in the form of Spectral Walk if you have trouble with some nasty vistas. It’s not the best option if you dislike Necromancer, but it’s something to consider.
Also, the Gliders are coming in Heart of Thorns (expansion pack, no release date yet) and are only useable in the new region (Verdant Brink being one of the maps) so if you have trouble with those, just avoid that region.
At least it’s not my system. I did a virus and malware scan right after it happened to make sure. It could have just been a fluke, like you said. Just to be safe, though, I’ll change my passwords.
It wasn’t our internet, we could access everything else perfectly fine with smooth load times. Every single thing Guild Wars 2 related (even the Wiki) just wouldn’t load at all.
I just purchased 1600 gems for $20.00 USD, and not a couple of seconds after the purchase I was disconnected from the game. I tried to load up the forums to check if there was any news on this, and it wouldn’t load at all. Curious, I then tried to load the GW2 Wiki, which also wouldn’t load at all. It occurred for about 30 seconds before I could re-load the forums.
This was not on our end, either, as I could watch my YouTube video and load up GameFaqs perfectly fine while this was going on. My wife could also access the internet on her phone just fine while this was happening.
It’s all working now, but I’m a bit scared. Did something go wrong? Or am I just paranoid?
What I was asking about is PvE dueling, in which two players fight using their currently equipped armor, weapons, food effects and whatever else they desire.
Back in beta, open world dueling was something they were open to. What we ended up with was casual dueling in the form of costume brawl and actual dueling in the form of custom arenas.
Interesting, I’ll give that a look. My hope is that they revisit the idea in the future.
Create a dueling mini-game.
(costume brawl)
Costume Brawl is a duel in which two players enter a transformed state to fight using predetermined skills. What I was asking about is PvE dueling, in which two players fight using their currently equipped armor, weapons, food effects and whatever else they desire.
Why didn’t you just post this in the thread you linked to?
I didn’t want to hijack uspen’s thread. I also felt that it would fit better as a thread more than a reply to a thread. I linked to his thread so that others may read it if they so chose.
both will be morged with another existing duelling thread anyways.
That would make it difficult to gather opinions, but if ArenaNet feels it should be merged, it’s their forum. Personally I feel that it should remain its own thread so that people can gather opinions here instead of perusing a megathread.
EDIT: Well, it was merged. I suppose I’ll have to look for the opinions some other way.
(edited by MrWubzy.3587)
Why didn’t you just post this in the thread you linked to?
I didn’t want to hijack uspen’s thread. I also felt that it would fit better as a thread more than a reply to a thread. I linked to his thread so that others may read it if they so chose.
I just read uspen’s post asking about dueling and inspecting (thread located here) and it got me to wondering: what does everyone feel regarding both subjects? I know there’s always going to be the simple statement of ‘this isn’t X game’ but I’d like to see true opinions and reasoning as to why some people feel that way.
My two cents?
Dueling
Dueling has always been a mixed bag for me in other MMO games. I’ve come across many types of duelers, ranging from the random troll who spams duel requests to the friendly player wanting to test their skills. But the question I asked myself after I read uspen’s thread was, “Will it fit with Guild Wars 2?”
Hard question to answer, but if I had to wager one it’d be that yes, it would fit…but only at certain points. Things such as a custom arena in Lion’s Arch/Gendarren Fields would be great fits for this, and maybe even custom rule sets in PvP to allow PvE items and consumables all crossed my mind, but to me, there’s a simple solution.
Create a dueling mini-game. Kind of like how the Dragon Bash arena was created, make a new dueling activity/mini-game that you can set your own rules for before creating the room/creating the instance, allowing party members to participate and spectate. That way, the dueling ‘invites’ are limited to those in your party to prevent some level of spam and trolling. If anyone has any suggestions on that, please share, as it may turn into a full-fledged suggestion thread.
Inspecting
Short answer: no.
Long answer: If you ask me we don’t need inspecting. The combat in Guild Wars 2 is measured off of player skill way more than any stat or item level (heck, I know a guy that runs greens in Silverwastes for kicks and giggles), so inspecting would be pretty much useless in terms of figuring out if you want this guy or that girl in your party/guild. Also, in my opinion it would only further the segregation that already occurs with some players asking for certain achievement point numbers or specific gear stats and, while that’s not a bad thing (to each their own) it paints a picture for those unfamiliar or new to the game.
So, what do you guys think about dueling and inspecting? Good/bad, and why? All the things.
Probably top of the list for me would be my mini Liadri. I found that fight incredibly hard, so beating her and getting the mini was a huge achievement for me.
I’d include my legendary too. It wasn’t actually hard to get, just took a long time and the discipline to put all my gold and other resources towards that instead of other things I wanted, but it’s still something I’m very pleased I’ve done.
I can’t decide if I should include my mini llama or not. I did win it during the Tournament of Legends 2, but then we won our first match because the other side didn’t turn up, and got annihilated in the next round so I’m not sure it’s much of an achievement.
It’s not a thing, but I’d also include completing all the jumping puzzles. I really enjoy them, but I’m not really that good at them, so completing them always feels good.
Oh, and the memory of the time I was fighting the Mordrem Troll during the Breach, we were really struggling and a lot of people kept going down (and not using the WP) and it came down to me using my pet to rally myself, getting 1 other person up and the two of us finishing the boss off. Then someone said “Thank god for rangers!” in chat.
Regarding the jumping puzzles, I’ve also completed them all. While there was no special reward aside from AP and a ton of Empyreal/Bloodstone/Dragonite, it felt incredibly satisfying to see them all checked off. Looking back at each one and all of the failures and successes is one of the many reasons why I love gaming.
Possibly this Reddit thread? http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/23d9sk/sigil_of_airfire_might_actually_be_better_than/
It’s the most recent one I could find on Google regarding any sort of theory crafting regarding those sigils you mentioned.
Anet wants everybody to play the good guys. They also want to keep PvP out of PvE. Besides, something like that would take too many resources to implement in a decent way.
And centaurs? I don’t think non-bipedal races will ever be playable (if new races are added at all). They just don’t work with armors, weapons, emotes, skill animations, jumping, dodging, swimming and so on.
Actually a few tonics have some working jump, emote, skill, dodge and swimming animations, so it is possible in those regards. The armor and weapons, though, are true. Just imagine trying to fit a quaggan or centaur with the armor and weapons we have now
yeah a carrot……………………
The beauty of Guild Wars 2’s leveling is that YOU make the carrot, not ArenaNet. You have to set a goal for yourself when you log in to do anything, much less leveling, and it’s that goal that makes you want to play the game. Do you want to do dungeons at max? Want to be a commander in WvW? Fractals of the Mists? Silverwastes? Roleplaying? Skin collecting? Exploration? Question making?
Once I realized that it made the game much more enjoyable for me, and it may do the same for you. If you’ve already tried that, then the proverbial carrot is usually ascended gear and legendary weapons.
I agree.
I do not believe the designer took into account the repetitive nature of sending mail when selling items on the trading post and how this unnecessary ‘bling’ sound (and quite unnecessarily loud at that) would be undesirable to users.
I have these mail carriers and will not use them until this noise is greatly reduced or removed altogether. This issue has also made me very wary of purchasing any future mail carriers due to their possibly possessing these undesirable and excessively annoying sounds. (I do not recall if the preview also includes the animation sounds or if it is only of the animation. I’ll need to check on that to see if it is sufficient for avoiding future carriers with annoying sounds)
They do make noise when previewing, but it’s not nearly as loud as they are outside of the Hero panel.
On the topic of Hero Panel previews they really should look into fixing perspective and size issues when previewing weapons and skins on certain sized characters (large norn, tiny asura for instance). It also happens with minis and finishers sometimes; the texture and the size are all wonky and make the object look different from the final item.
OT: I do agree. I haven’t purchased the mail carriers but I have previewed them, and I didn’t buy them for the exact reason the OP stated, which was the noise. I could already see myself getting flustered every time I roleplayed, receiving mails from friends and other things. ’Twould be nice to have a slider for such things as well.
I agree with Dante, it’d be cool to visit Claw Island outside of the Personal Story to check it all out unimpeded. And now that I think about it it would also make sense from a lore perspective. Since Claw Island is the forward defense for LA, why not rebuild it, too?
Ahhh, I understand what you’re going for now, apologies for misunderstanding. Now that it’s clear, yes, that would be a nice addition. I do run into the issue sometimes when I have to re-create Guild Chat to get the flashing text on new message. Also happens a lot when I run out of tabs and have to quickly switch to a new chat in the middle of typing a message.
Kinda hard since we all will see farming and grinding differently
Grinding to me is doing something over and over for something you want like grinding for t6 mats to craft a legendary
Farming is doing something over and over just to get something of value to sell or a large amount of small priced items to sell at bulk
Good point, which is why I had to clarify my meaning of farming in the OP. I really do wish we could all come to an agreement on the word’s meaning but the truth is that they’re both blurred together.
@pdavis: I agree that farmers are underrated in not just GW2 but any online game with an active economy. The RNG is a pain to deal with (especially when DR kicks in) and it discourages active farming for long periods of time, which draw people to the TP (which is what ArenaNet wants, I think). They’re a critical component to driving the markets of any item along with TP flippers and general customers, and should be given the correct tools and nudges to do so.
About DR. There is too little known about the specifics of DR to know if anyone hits it or not. According to John Smith, any player actually hitting DR (when in comes to drops) is very rare and doesn’t happen very often. (DR from farming events and event rewards is different). DR was implemented to stop bots, not to discourage farmers.
A dedicated farmer will still have some variation in the mobs they kill, the paths they take, and how long they farm. A bot will generally only kill the exact same mobs in a very specific path, and for longer periods of time.
Plus the weapon rotations, dodges, etc.People like to use DR as an excuse to discourage farmers, but even dedicated farmers will rarely, if ever hit DR.
Ah, I see, thank you for the clarification. I certainly makes more sense now than it did before. I retract my statement of…
…which draw people to the TP (which is what ArenaNet wants, I think)
Oh, I see, you’re asking to add a way to see if, for example:
-My guardian has a Vista or POI in Queensdale unlocked
-I want to see which one it is on my ranger through the use of X feature
I think this would be better served as an app or Overwolf add-on, or maybe a website for now, until they consider this addition.
I think they’ll get around to this when the new trait system goes live. It’ll probably be a simultaneous update for PvE and WvW, as well as PvP. I agree that it would be very useful, especially for dungeon runners and frequent PvP/WvWers.
I think farming is actually a very good thing and should be encouraged by Anet. It does not harm the game in any way and it allows people like myself to get materials without spending any of my gold (I have a serious gold hoarding problem that I can’t seem to get out of). I farm champs, dungeons, vinewrath, chest farm, cursed shore and other places too because sometimes it is the only thing for me to do and it is better than just standing in LA not knowing what to do, plus you get rewards for your time. While I understand why people are against some farms (frostgorge coil failfarm mainly), the ones that are not exploits should be left alone and people should be left to do what they want in game.
There are a lot of different types of farming. There are a lot of players who think like “I will farm the gold to get what I want”, so they go to the most profitable (in terms of gold intake) activities and farm there all day.
That’s a bad thing and Anet shouldn’t encourage it at all. All it does is create inflation and increase the prices for everyone else. “Hey why farm Powerful Blood, farm gold to buy it!”, then Supply gets lower and lower, so naturally prices go higher. In the end, the non-farmers are being punished for not farming.
There is a problem (a serious one) when players prefer to farm gold to buy items, rather than farming for the items themselves, because the game itself doesn’t allow farming for what you want directly on most cases.
Once their new event system launches (with HoT?) that rewards players specific materials, based on the zone, for every event completed, then I’d say farming would be a very very good thing. As it is now? I’d say excessive farming does more harm than good to the game.
I agree that farming for gold shouldn’t be the optimal choice. Farming for both currency and items to sell should both be equally lucrative, as well as any other farming methods for certain items. However I disagree that farming is harming the game in any way, as I think it drives the economy with the supply it needs (in most cases) to keep it healthy and useful.
EDIT: To clarify my last sentence, I was referring to the farming of items, not gold directly. The farming of gold is something entirely different, and I’m still forming an opinion on that.
I was unaware of this, thank you for the update. This must have been a ninja update, I didn’t see it in any notes.
Isn’t it already like this, or am I misreading your suggestion? Could you elaborate please, possibly some mockup images?
…and it’s easy to implement.
Good idea or not, it won’t be "easy to implement. There isn’t anything in the game similar, so they’d have to create new code just for this. They’d also have to design the UI and figure out a plan for dealing with individuals who forget their passcode and guilds that lose the people who know the passcodes.
It won’t be one of the most difficult things to add to the game, but it won’t be “easy” either.
Agreed on the difficulty of implementation. It doesn’t matter how small or how large a feature or some content is, there’s a 99% chance that they’ll miss a couple of things and/or bugs will arise from its addition.
I think they’d do well using their current system with the Trading Post if this were to happen (CoherentUI I think it’s called?). It seems to work well with the TP, and it may do well towards bank pins. Regarding how they’d deal with the forgetting of said pins, possibly a simple “Forgot pin?” link in the window which, when clicked, prompts you to enter your e-mail address to send a new pin, or to change your current one?
Or, possibly, something dealing with the mail system in-game?
They’re sort of playable if you use some tonics and get in to roleplaying. But it really would be cool to experience the story from their perspectives as a player and not just a third party looking in through a window.
