I can see your mini map, so I can tell where you are and where you’re facing, but it doesn’t match up with what your dude is looking at. Did they knock that wall down? last time I was in wvw there was no stairs there. or am I blind?

new sources of obsidian shards give at most 5-10 / day (I’m picturing 2-6 hours). you could get more doing two underleveled fractal runs. hardly market-breaking

for things that sell slowly, I like to make 10, then list them one at a time. When someone undercuts me, I just list another one. basically, I’m ready for 10 undercuts. Once I run out, I will remove the first one I listed and undercut the current undercutter. In the end, all 10 would only be relisted once instead of 10 times. Plus it’s fun to get to say ‘ha! you thought you could undercut me!?!? take THAT’

I haven’t tried it… is the box of chocolates not usable in wvw? the tiny chocolate makes you teenieweeny.

I haven’t heard of anyone making coin off the gold/gem conversion.
If someone wanted to, and they were selling the gems now, they would of had to of bought them in earlier october. early october to now could of seen a 1.6g profit per 100 gems. That’s a long time to make very little profit (it’s only 37.2% profit).
There are many things that can give that much profit after 1 week, many other things that can give 100% profit after 1 month, and even more things that can give 200% profit after 4 months.

even a 10% sale on gems would increase the price: more people would buy gems with gold, increasing the sale price to the current price, then when the sale ends the gold → gem price would be that 10% higher. then likely drop back to what it was when it started – but not quite back to starting

I do a lot of TP trading and have a perma TP dude. I’ve considered doing it in LA, but thought better of it. It’s just not worth the hassle.
On this note, even being active isn’t comparable to other forms of gold-getting. maybe 150 bags, tops, plus random loot. I generally only get maybe 1-2g worth of stuff and 2 obby shards. I can’t understand why it’s so popular.
Sure, if you get to 1200 citizens, you have a super rare chance at something worth 60g+, but that’s a pretty rare chance. Also, some servers are less active than others (meaning the AFK’ers get in before the active people), so they never get past 600 citizens. Why even finish the event in this case?

good call. I have the current numbers for those here:
(this compares the sell listing price of cores to the sell listing price of lodestones)
Crystal = -14s45c (lodestone sells for 14s45c less than cores = not profitable)
Destroyer = 10s70c (lodestone sells for 10s70c more than cores = profitable)
Corrupted = 11s44c
Charged = 39s77c
Onyx = 19s47c
Molten = 12s45c
Glacial = -27s75c (another negative)
I usually consider 1 SP = 20s. each of these promotions requiers 0.6 SP, so anything above 12s I would do.
These don’t change very much very often, but If you want an updated list, PM me.

you can change a legendary’s stats any time you are ooc, so you don’t have to worry about that. It’s been a while, but I think you just double-click the legendary and a menu will pop up, you select the stat type, then accept.

My suggestion for order of stuff to get:
1) World completion, dungeon gift (500 dungeon tokens), Gift of Battle, Bloodstone Shard
2) gold
3) precursor
4) Icy Runestones
5) Mystic Clovers
6) Obsidian Shards, Gift of Mastery
7) Gift of precursor, Gift of Fortune
8) Legendary

The point is to do all the time-gated stuff first, while saving everything for future stuff. Basically, there isn’t any point to having a gift of fortune sitting around collecting dust while you’re running world completion, getting more materials that could of gone into that gift.

As for what you should do to get everything, I leave that up to you
good spots to get karma (obsidian shards) and skill points: underleveled fotm, wvw follow a commander with a big zerg
do not try to gamble to get the precursor in the MF. buy it off the TP. place a buy order and babysit it (offer 1c more than the current highest offer, and update it once an hour). You’ll get it within a day.

I will. Most likely. It depends. I mostly buy gems for the salvage kits (they often give higher profits when salvaging exotics, such as when trying to get rune of divinity). I would definitely spend them on something else shiny in the gem store if I want it, but 10g per 100 is not that bad. Even 20g per 100 is doable for me. I’m kinda at the point where if I want it, I get it, then figure out the ‘how’ later.

Farming queen’s gauntlet gave 10g-20g/hour. Don’t envy them. It was more boring than champ train. It was basically soloing a champ that respawned 5 seconds after it died. 10 silver per kill. That’s 100-200 kills per hour. Then they without warning reduced that 10 silver per bag to zero. Lots of people had thousands of the bags that became worthless.

Let’s compare an avarage frying pan with 3 bottles of different liquids on top of a living parrot. Long pan, easily thrown against a brick wall, results in a hellavah lot of metal when melted down by heat and temperature. The difference is that the parrot can eat three huge clams in the time that a regular toaster downloads Breaking bad season 2.

dude, you’re totally on to something there! plus, the parrot can be melted down to make up some of the frying pan, then cooled with the liquid. We do have to do something about those clams, though. Somehow need to upgrade it to 2 clams and 1 mussel. You’ll have to explain the toaster, however. How do you get season 2 on it? All I have is season 1 and I’m missing out.

They said it will replace % critical damage in the upcoming future, and obviously no one here knows exactly how it’ll work, but I figured I’d ask anyways:
How will ferocity work?

What I mean:
currently, critical damage does this:
on a critical hit, damage = damage * (1.5 + % critical damage / 100). so 50% critical damage results in 2 times normal damage.
will ferocity also be a percent-based multiplier?
I got the impression that that was what made critical damage OP, and ferocity would be an addition to normal damage rather than multiply it:
on critical hit, damage = damage * 1.5 + ferocity

they said something like “full berserker builds will deal about 10% less damage”. I don’t recall them saying anything about just a little bit of critical damage. If it is additive, it would be a linear line instead of power, where as multiplicitive would still be power. This means that small amounts of ferocity would be almost the same damage increase as small amounts of % critical damage.

It’s the difference between:
full berserker gets 10% damage reduced, half berserker gets 5% damage reduced
and
full berserker gets 10% damage reduced, half berserker gets 1% damage reduced

why call it ‘beta’ if no final version?

‘beta’ is final bug/other testing by an open/closed player base before the final full release. If there will be no full release, it wouldn’t be a ‘beta’ – it would be the final release.

If your pick-up tab is full, nothing will be added to it.
I frequently go through several pick-up tabs, and every single one has gold waiting for me.
if the pick-up tab has less than 100 items, gold will be added to it. If it has more, a new tab is made and gold is added to that one.
It’s not impossible there is a bug, just make sure your pick-up tab is 100% empty before saying there is a bug.

It’s a bad business policy to make people regret purchases.
I think they assume too much to think everyone will notice the good deal before purchasing.

really, you’re just nitpicking. They all will go up. probably directly correlated to how the prices currently differ (if they are 10% different now, they will be 10% different in 2 months). I recommend making the most expensive one, or second-most-expensive if you really think the most expensive isn’t popular.

when I spent 2,000 gold to buy 29,000 gems in late december, the rate did not even get nudged. It did fluctuate a bit, but consider this: the last 200g actually gave more gems than the first 200g.
I also did not get a knock at the door by guys in windbreakers and sunglasses, so I think you’re going to be safe.
You really do need to buy/sell in the millions to actually move the rate. (and buying gems with money doesn’t even touch the rate at all)

just wait until you go to craft ascended armor.
in their defense, legendary is still longer to get. however, it requires more diversity in where you go to get it. I do agree that crafting ascended from scratch is more painful than making a legendary.

Crafting can be worth it. You have to be selective. It’s not easy.
If you don’t want to get into it, I recommend refining the materials and selling them on the TP (refined usually will sell for around 5-10% more than what goes into it)
However, There are many things that are currently profitable to make, here are a few examples (I specifically chose high profit ones to make you salivate):
Minor Sigil of Bursting – 2 Thin Leather Section for 82c + Charged Fragment for 13s42c + 10 watchwork sprocket for 6s = costs 20s24c and sells for 88s84c (273.1% profit after tax)
Hunter’s Steel Imbued Inscription – 2 Steel Plated Dowel for 23s14c + 15 Claw for 4s80c = costs 27s94c and sells for 1g9s89c (234.3% profit after tax)
Thin Jerkin Panel – 10 Thin Leather Section for 20s50c + 2 Spool of Wool Thread for 32c = costs 4s42c and sells for 17s98c (245.8% profit after tax)

The highest percent profits I could find right now are probably Godskull Flintlock (2279.7% profit), Beaded Icon (1750.7% profit), Sentinel’s Elder Scepter (1172.2% profit)
of course, since these and the others are so high, it’s probably a fluke and they will go back down soon. I generally only make stuff if it’s within 20-100% profit (any lower and relisting may make it not profitable, any higher and it either wont sell or relisting may make it not profitable – because so many others will have found it and undercut me).

It’s funny how the “500g+” number is often used to express bad MF returns.
first, I assume you’re talking about Dawn/Dusk? because it’s likely a case of them buying expensive rare/exotic greatswords off the TP to throw into the MF, to which I would suggest they find a more efficient way (could of paid only 300g for the same number of tries).
second, why would you expect to get a precursor for less than the cost of buying it outright? If it was clearly cheaper to MF for it, people would just do that.
third, you can’t take a single drop from a rng system and say that’s how it is. People that “pull out precursor one after another” are not mentioning the hundreds of times they get junk. the accounts with “good Mystic Forge rate” are simply those that roll the MF 5,000 times instead of 50.
come talk to me if you go 2000g+ without a precursor

If not mistaken, mouse actions does not count towards afk timer reset, neither does jumping if not wrong, autowalking don’t walk either (my experience), seem you have to do some kind of active movement or use some skills not to get kicked..

I can object: autorunning does prevent you from being kicked due to inactivity. If you ever see anyone autorunning into a corner, this is what’s going on.

title says the rest. every time I get valiance (obvious due to size and red) I can’t make new illusions (clones and phantasms)
as phantasms account for about 1/3 my damage, and shattering accounts for another 1/3, getting valiance cuts my damage to 1/3 it’s normal. worst. buy. ever.

btw: same bug with any item carried. Flame Sword, Jade Maw’s Reflecting Crystal, etc. But at least those can be dropped.

I got the idea from reading that, so I wanted to give a starting point to where I was coming from. It might not be true, but that’s not really the point of the post. The point is to support a game I like – and since I use the TP a lot and am most frustrated by some things that I feel have needed changing for a long time, I felt I’d vocalize that I would specifically support these changes.

Since TP won’t make money it’s not considered to be fixed or upgraded.

So, let’s have fixing the TP problems make them money.
If the Trading Post gets updated, I will buy gems with real-life money. This is gems for no purpose other than a reward for Anet – they are in addition to gems I otherwise get. Amount purchased depends on the update, see below for specifics; total will be rounded up.
This is not a poll or a demand or intended to be negative in any way; this is me promising to show my appreciation for something I’ve wanted.

I encourage other people to also pledge, and specify what updates you are pledging for, since you probably want different things than I do (I will update regularly with people’s pledges).

Desired Updates:

• 1) Any unmentioned update that makes the Trading Post experience better – 100-1000 gems each (Mystic)
• 2) Complete removal of “Error attempting to Sell” from selling things too quickly – 2000 gems (Mystic)
• 3) Able to search by armor weights – 1000 gems (Mystic)
• 4) Able to search by profession (armor and weapons) – 400 gems (Mystic)
• 5) Able search for back items – 400 gems (Mystic)
• 6) Able to do boolean searches (examples: “Berserker AND Emblazoned”, “Reinforced OR Chain OR Gladiator”) – 1000 gems (Mystic)
• 7) Fix the current categories and subcategories to be correct (such as “Food” returning food and “Upgrade Component / Weapon” returning upgrade components for weapons) – 200 gems (Mystic)
• 8) In the returned items from a search, split “Price” into “Buy Order Price” and “Sell Listing Price”, and able to order by either – 600 gems (Mystic)
• 9) Easier to go from “Items I’m selling” and “Items I’m buying”, to viewing that item, to back to that list (add a ‘back button’ or open in a new window, etc.) – 1000 gems (Mystic)

I did some googling… looks like computer-in-a-fridge is bad for other reasons: condensation will reduce the life expectancy of the computer down to weeks, fridge will burn out within days from overworking (normally they are only cooling like 10% of the time – computer in there would increase that to 100%)

It’s funny how their reason for not converting them is that it wouldn’t be fair to the people that knew they were being removed, so they used them for their intended purpose. Gotta keep the 1000 people that saw that forum post happy or else they will vocalize it – the other million or so that don’t read the forum are just sol.

I don’t want to be mean, but the amount of features Factions and Nightfall brought to GW1 is nowhere close to what has changed in one year in Guild Wars 2.

• new items

all temporary content can be summed up as “activity the majority of players is currently doing”
re-reading your post, I’m not sure if you’re saying GW1 expansions gave lots more of lots less change than GW2 has had… I didn’t play GW1. So either I agree with you that expansion >>> temporary Living Story, or I disagree with you and provided counter-points :P

you can get a refund for extra tools. you have to keep one of each (If you have 4 Molten Pickaxe, you can get a refund for 3 of them), and they refund the soulbound price of 800 gems/tool.

That seems to be their MO, though likely unintentionally. They did the same with Captain’s Council Commendation and Lyns (still able to get commendations even though Lyns’ shop was closed – and Lyns was still shouting at you to get them!)

When we got glory boosters, we got them instead of random other boosters. We should get that random other booster instead of these soon-to-be-worthless glory boosters.

armageddon armor from fotm has random stat type, so that has a chance to be be cavalier’s
I can’t think of any other potential sources, so it looks like cavalier’s insignia has very low supply.

I’ve always wondered if putting the computer inside a mini fridge would be a good idea, then I found out that computers have optimum temperatures they need to run at. Like: too cold could slow it down. it would especially affect disc drives, and probably also HDD’s

*use canned air to clean out air vents and fans of dust in your computer
*get istat menus, which can manually control the fan speed (set it to high early so it won’t overheat after a few hours)
*remove clutter from around the computer. So many computer desks have a cubbyhole for the computer… that’s a bad location. it needs air flow.
*if all else fails: cpu-intensive games can cause overheating… it sucks. If everything is working right and it’s still overheating, you need a faster computer.

It seems like all the pros they listed were for one application of time-gating (dailies), while people are most annoyed by a different one (ascended refinement).
dailies could use reworking, but they aren’t bad.
time-gating ascended materials is, on the other hand, bad.
