Not exactly what you’re saying…
So I’ll talk about guns/bows. Rangers can’t use guns, because that goes against their nature philosophy. Thieves can use pistols and shortbow. If you want to think realistically, pistols only have like 6 shots, wheras a shortbow can be fired for as much as a quiver can hold. And as seen with the warrior, you can manipulate both types of projectile weapons in different ways. Warriors use the bow as a more fire arrow approach, and a rifle as more of a sniper gun. So each weapon has their own use
I think it’s referred to as ‘mending’ armor in the PS
If you go to Heart of the Mists, there’s a PvP locker, and you can preview any armor set in the game. You could check the Trading Post, but sadly I think it’s one of the armors that you only get through PS
As for the Mursaat guarding the Door of Komalie. I didn’t really see a reason as to why they’d need to do it? Sure, the Seers could have forced the Mursaat to this duty, but besides the fact that Titans want to inexplicably kill Mursaat, what’s the point? Just a bit strange to me
Also, we are hinted that the Gods brought humans to Tyria because they were indeed fleeing. I think in the scrolls on the gods in Orr, the Lyssa one says she’s trying to make them happy again, or take away their fear.
And I think in EotN, a Norn says Humans and Norn can procreate
WEll….you have 5 character slots…and there are 5 races you can help
So you’re going to end up doing both eventually (i’d assume)
Anyway, I adore Quaggan, so my first character did that one. From a gameplay perspective, Icebrood are easier to kill than Destroyers. But yeah, from a story perspective, the Skritt pretty much are eradicated, while the Quaggan just lose their home.
^
But yeah, it’s a sad fact of the game. Similar with Charr, how their horns/ears are covered also. I usually go helmless, but cultural armors compensate for ears
Larger ears are more attractive on males, while females usually have short stubby ones
There’s a little ‘quest’ in GW1 dealing with this fact
Orly?
That’s interesting, did not know that tidbit
It would also be nice to see him outside of Elona, however I think he’d make his move after Kralk moves out first
I think the Pact will keep it under control.
The DSD and Kralk are both to the west and east, so it’s a pretty good staging ground for expeditions to the Sea of Sorrows and Crystal Desert
The posters all basically say ‘look out from the sea, something’s killing people’
The Karka are pictured on one of the posters (the one that people thought was a giant crab of sorts).
While I’m not too keen on having the DSD be a Kraken itself, I wouldn’t mind kraken minions
Ok, I was just making up reasons as to why they were there
I wholeheartedly believe it’s just flooding/whatnot, there’s really no significance as to why the others are gone
TBH, that’s basically what my current guild is like…
Activity is sparce though, so you might want alternatives
Anyway, we’re Archivist’s Sanctum, in SoR, and if you’re really into lore like you said, it’s a perfect place for you. We have about 20 members, though most don’t represent anyway.
You can message me in-game for more info, I’m on right now
Path two is really quite easy for AC
And there’s no requirement for the monthly to be Explorable anyway
Didn’t she take it over when she took over Abaddon’s powers in NF?
They’re probably around, hiding. In WiK, I think the Asura were almost driving them to extinction in order to get the spectral essences, but that’s possibly wrong.
You said it yourself, they made the compelling characters die because we should feel the loss of them. This means the less likeables will probably get more development over time, aka DE and Trahearne. We only killed one dragon, out of maybe 6, and there are other plots at work too, so if we had the same character development for those guys, then there’d be no growth later.
And if I remember correctly, the Sylvari twins didn’t die
If you really want to look into this, maybe Melandru is the nature goddess, so her statue was unaffected by nature’s events, and Kormir is the goddess of water, so same for her
IMO, there’s no big story behind the disappearance of statues/displacement, it’s just to give a little easter egg for GW1 fans
Flooding…
Water is pretty powerful when it comes in torrents, could have crumbled and uprooted statues like nobodies business
Nah, his tomb is in Harathi, in ‘Holy Demetra’ or something.
INteresting….Obvious answer would be it’s Lost Shores related, but the positioning makes no sense…
Yeah?
In one (maybe more) of the human storylines, some White Mantle stuff happens too. Just says they’re kinda active, but mostly just bandits now.
Brisban has some interesting bandit hideouts, including Fort Vandal, I think it’s called, which I know some people think is the WM’s HQ, and could be a dungeon in the future.
Pretty much…I saw a norn in Hoelbrak named after Colin Johanson
1) I’m 18, male.
2) I’d like to say it’s high up in importance, but it really isn’t. I’ve played games with ridiculous/stupid plots, but enjoyed greatly because the way you play the game is fun. Having something to do when you want to do it is more important.
3) Characters. GW2, for example, I was enthralled with Forgal (Vigil mentor), much more than the Vigil itself. Groups are usually very general, whereas characters can have different facets to themselves.
4) My characters are definitely extensions of myself to some extent. While I’ll sometimes create characters that I don’t really identify with, I’ll never choose the overly violent option (because I oppose violence as a solution).
5) Depends on the game or person. If you’re a person who lets the game’s options do the storytelling for you, then it depends on the game. If you’ve got an open imagination and investment in it, then your choices affect your character. From a game standpoint, if it’s a linear storyline, you don’t really have a say. But one with choices you have to make along the way, then your character is created with your consent.
6) Not always. For my main, yes. But for my alts, they range from being renowned for their craftsmanship, to one day taking their rightful place on the throne.
7) I’d say it fits well. The story takes you through different environments, fighting enemies that normally you’d face there, and gives a purpose to those usually unimportant places.
8) I don’t really think about it. I see others running through the overworld, but they’ve all got their own stories to tell, not just mine.
9) In the crafted story that the game designers made, the personal story takes us through the larger game stories, making our character a part of the big plots and a dynamic force in events.
Isn’t this more for the Lore forum?
And yes, this is old news
He’s old, you tend to lose sleep when you’re busy with war and such.
At first, I wasn’t quite sure what to make of him, but by the end, with his final speech, he cemented his place as my favorite mentor
http://www.alchemyincorporated.net/forum/m/4310404/viewthread/4547655-preview-those-named-exotic-weapons-in-game
pretty extensive list of mystic forge weapons
as for recipes….that’s another problem altogether
But there are more than just two or so daggers, is the point
Three of the henchman, I think Reyna, Alesia, and Little Thom, also had graves there
It’s probably a necro only line
I haven’t heard my Asura war say it either
Sylvari and Asura have more of creedos than religion. Sylvari live by the tenets of the Sylvari Tablet (which I think you can read on the top floor of the Grove) and Asura have Eternal Alchemy, like Jamica said. This thread might be more than you need/want to know, but they explain it pretty well
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/lore/What-if-the-Six-and-Eternal-Alchemy-are-one-and-the-same/first#post611774
I’m sorry, but don’t keep saying ‘us’
I for one, love the look of my Sylvari, and was fine wearing Vigil armor for a good month, until I decided to go with a more cultural look. Charr have the short end of the stick imo, any armor covers up what makes them unique.
As for an explanation for why the NPCs look hodge podge, maybe that’s just the way Sylvari dress? They’re fairly new, and they are seen as strange by most every other race, so their peculiarities might just extend to what they see as fashionable. Maybe really horrendous mixings of colors for the other races is what most Sylvari deem as good looking?
Both good questions…
The Kormir says something like “We’re not needed here anymore, we’re causing problems so we’ll let humans deal with their stuff for a while” when she ascends. There’s no real explanation as to why they left, but everyone’s dragon crazy so theories abound relating to Dragons
And for the origin of Dragons, they just sorta always were on Tyria. Last speculated time they were awake was 10000 BE, which is like…a good 8 or 9 thousand years before the gods set foot on Tyria
Someone else might want to correct that, I’m horrible with dates
@Ratphink, I’m kinda tired, but your point doesn’t seem clear. Kuunavang was corrupted by Shiro/Abaddon, sure. But Glint was corrupted by Kralk. If what your point is is that a being can’t be doubly corrupt, we don’t really have proof of this. We can’t compare God and Dragon corruption to each other
@Narcemus, I think you’re talking about Subject Alpha. They don’t really explain what it is (at least, I haven’t found much), but since it’s an Inquest lab, and they’re experimenting on dragon powers, it’s highly likely that it was just a conglomeration of dragonic energies. So more surgical in a way
Shiro was corrupted by Abaddon (fairly certain), so he killed everything and when he was killed, he had the Jade Wail or something, which petrified the forest and turned the sea to jade. Then when he came back was when the corruption started.
Prophecies/Factions/Nightfall all pertained to Abaddon events, not ED. Some characters however are turning out to be related to the ED’s, like Glint
I’ve gone there twice, and the only npcs that are there seem to be DE, the three heads of the orders, racial sympathy people, and Orr npcs. Heck, even the three blacksmiths are partying up there. But I’m fairly certain Doern/Wynett/Efut aren’t there.
I’d assume it’s just like your example, they’re lions
They hunger for magic, and so when they’re not sleeping for millenia, they’re destroying/eating.
And I think that the Champions are kinda made out to be smarter than the Dragons, somehow the Dragons give will/intelligence to the Champions and act as PR kinda
Oh, those guys too XD
They’re pretty high up in their orders, so they might be doing some clean-up detail or something…
I thought we were talking about the 15 order reps to the races
I think OoW has the most representation. They have the 5 whispers reps in the quest after Claw Island, and Agent Zrii gets numerous missions in Orr
As for Priory/Vigil order reps, they just sort of fade into obscurity, with the random encounter here and there (crusader afanen)
There’s a ‘mega destroyer’ i think in mount maelstrom. I’ve only done the meta event once, but there’s an inquest lab there, and i think that to keep the volcanism in check some asurans use some lasers to quell the lava. And then mega destroyer pops up
It’s probably because they’re so invasive. Like the Soviet Union, it’s creeping into more and more territory, so the Norn are just defending their lands
It’s Trahearne, lolololo
But in all seriousness, I don’t know. First time playing through, it was really cool to see that someone was stalking my feats, but then it was just like ‘Hey, a dungeon!’
Hopefully they’ll expand on his/her role in future updates
As far as I understood things, Glint was both a champion as well as part of a larger race of dragons. The elder dragons were simply the most powerful of them.
So I’d say Glint was more of a ‘champion by choice’ who changed her mind later on, instead of a construct like the great destroyer.
FIrst part might very well be true. I don’t remember the exact specifics, but Glint is definitely Kralk’s champion, and both true EoD and Arah Exp, it’s been said that the Forgotten helped her break free of the dragon’s influence. So it wasn’t by choice, but as to the initial subservience to Kralk, I’m not sure.
yep
and obviously those each have a two way split
I doubt they’re related to the DSD
In GW1, they were out and about in roughly the same spots, so that hasn’t changed. People could argue that they were minions because we had destroyers back then, but unless there’s a champion krait somewhere that was also leading the krait like the Great Destroyer was leading those destroyers, I doubt a connection
Isn’t it a girl?
Anyway, we don’t know yet, but people are suspecting Bubbles
This one’s based on ‘A Light in the Darkness’, where you go to the Pale Tree and tell her your fear
You must have chosen the same fear for your first two characters, and now have chosen a new one for this one
I think in Lore, you can only become one animal
You can take on facets of the other animals, like the cunning of raven when you honor the bear, but your wereform is only ever one totem
Kinda…his rise was delayed because of the death of his champion
But…irrelavant much?

@Bruno, idealistically, they’re unique, I’ll admit. I just think physically, we already have a large/buff character in the Norn, and they are possibly ancestors of the Norn. They aren’t shown with much variety of weapons (neither do Largos).
@Lonami, the profession you made is pretty much what I thought you meant. More of a martial arts class than a warrior, so they could still be in the soldier profession but have the most mobility of the three.
As for the Tengu reasoning, I’m still not entirely convinced this is the best time to add them. Even after beating Zhaitan, they’re probably skeptical of others still, and would need some time I’d think.
If they were included, I don’t think they would be retroactively added, involving them in the Zhaitan Arc. They’d probably just tack them on to whatever new story is going on

*Quaggans
I don’t know, Kodan are just meh to me, they’re kinda similar to the Norn to be a distinct race. Even Largos, which I’m highly opposed to having as playable, is more unique and seperate than the Kodan
I started out launch day creating all my characters, one for each race. During the opening cutscene, I knew that my Asura would be one of the best. (The male asura voice is perfect). Sadly, I have a soul connection with my sylvari, so my asura kind of got left in the dust (I still love the way he looks, and I"ll eventually get T3 armor, but right now I’m focusing on my Sylvari)
